Well, you've read the notes, the notes had joy and were written in December, and now it is time for you to post until the December cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CONCINNITY!
-
From yesterday, thanks John G., Jane, KevinH for the opening night vibes! The show itself went quite well. The audience was nearly filled and I only made a couple of sound cue goobers...one was actually quite noticeable. ::) I forgot to set off a music cue for one of the songs near the end. The music is supposed to start and then the actors have some spoken lines before singing. Well, I didn't start the cue until after they started talking (which isn't horrible), but then they started singing about four measures too early...and then they stopped singing...and then started a couple of measures too soon...and then the figured it out and everything got all caught up.
AARRGGHH!! At least it was only one noticeable mistake...the couple others were more subtle. ;)
-
After last night's opening performance, there was cast party at a former board member's house (and she's a friend of mine, too). It was quite fun...a lot of conversations, food and good times were had by all.
-
Today, we have our first matinee and after that, I'm ushering for a performance by the Masterworks Choral Ensemble (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/upcoming-events/2012/12/1/masterworks-choral-ensemble-a-joyful-noise.html), a local choral group. It'll be a busy day for me.
-
Good night and have a good day, all!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
We had a successful load in. We have lots of work to do. Again, we have over 3000 bags to fill but we will do it as we always do it.
I came home, took a shower and a nap. We had dinner and watched an old Rosemary and Thyme and then I went to bed.
-
I have to go to the Greenmarket this morning but Saturday will be a quiet day. I may go to the Library also to see if they have anything of interest to watch (if I don't fall asleep).
-
I hope all is well. I'll try to catch up.
I think I missed Robbie Rozelle birthday here, so if you're reading, happy birthday belatedly! I know Skip had wished him happy birthday directly on his birthday, though.

I put a comment on the Times comment box with regard to FREE TO BE YOU AND ME's 40th anniversary. I think it's catchy but no one's really free to be anything of the sort, are they?
This comment is from the heart, though I hope it's also funny. Too many people feel free, and think their freedom allows them to encroach on other people's lives and well-being because they feel free to say and do what they want, effect on others be damned. I'm thinking for example of the right of people who have the right to marry taking it away from people who don't, when it doesnt affect them - but I'm sure there are other applications. (Like if someone puts a work of artistic sort, they are asking for that work to be judged, but I never understood how that free speech extends to attacking someone publcly as a person.)

Good morning, all! I slpt well, but I had a most peculiar dream about Dublin, my attnding a funeral of a friend, and helping the friend of a friend and a home for wayward girls, where my friend Bronagh, who in reality works for the Stephens Green Hibernian Club, was working.
I will leave here around 8:45 for City Center to help Joshie with the proofreading at Encores! I have no idea how long I'll be there, but, if i'm home by 2pm, i may go ahead and do the laundry I did not do yesterday. So, we'll see how much I accomplish today.
-
Off To New York To Do Chicago is the title of my new autobiography.
-
Today is of course a work day.....oh well.
Continued run vibes for DR GEORGE.
-
Most entertaining story in the notes today. I shall have to think if I have had a similar experience.....hmmmmm......
-
December is the month of many birthdays.
-
Hmmmmmmmmmmm......the 2013 Mad Men calendar is sold out......
-
It is Saturday-- a very busy day.
-
Good morning, all.
Got a light semi-covering of snow out there. Hope there won't be too much more. On the radar we're in the "mix" band, and I do not approve of that. No sirree.
Have to drive into the city to attend an afternoon Christmas concert a friend sings in. It's a nice tradition. I really wanted to take the train in, but today I need to keep as tight a schedule as possible and not be too late getting back, so I'll drive, and hopefully zip in and out like in the best of times.
-
And the word of the day is: CONCINNITY!
Is that legal in CINCINNATI?
-
And the word of the day is: CONCINNITY!
Is that legal in CINCINNATI?
Barely. You are in Bible belt territory!
-
DR JohnG is the Hunger Games the book or the movie? And if it's the latter have you read the book/s?
-
Off To New York To Do Chicago is the title of my new autobiography.
Brilliant
-
And the word of the day is: CONCINNITY!
Is that legal in CINCINNATI?
Only on Tuesdays with even numbered dates.
-
And now I am:
Off To Work to Earn Some Money
-
Good morning, all.
Insanely busy day today. First big rehearsal for the Christmas Lessons and Carols this morning. Then a book signing. After that I have to cover a tamale festival and a coffee festival. I may get some time off this evening. Or maybe not.
-
DR JohnG is the Hunger Games the book or the movie? And if it's the latter have you read the book/s?
Just the movie. I haven't read the books yet. I enjoyed most of the movie, but I felt that the director needed to shape some of the fight scenes better to build a little more suspense. Loved the supporting cast a lot, because they seemed to be having fun and it showed. And I guess that was for the parents, because most younger moviegoers would have no idea who Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland and Woody Harrelson are.
-
DR Laura, I'm glad you enjoyed the Donny Osmond concert with Marie.
-
Long long day ahead. Prep for a funeral, service, lunch, and then hours of dishwashing.
-
One thing I've learned here is that an hour too long on Page 1 is like a weekend in ARLETA.
-

Saturday morning greetings! It's quite spring-like here in SW Ohio today, so I'm going to decorate the front porch railing. Later this afternoon I'll watch the UC Bearcats try to earn the Big East title and later I'll watch the Big Ten championship - On, Wisconsin!
-
Just told my friend that I need to bow out of schlepping down there for her concert today. It's a sanity thing; I just really need the day here. She completely understands and doesn't mind at all, but I do feel bad about cancelling anything I'd planned on, and about missing it. (It's an annual choral/orchestral concert at Grace Church on B'way.)
-
And the word of the day is: CONCINNITY!
And The Song Of The Day Is: SUNDAY

TOD:
The one thing that comes to mind is an incident that happened about 2 years after I moved to Los Angeles from Seattle.
I'm walking down the street (not in a touristy area of town), and who should I pass by, but a guy I went all through school with in Seattle. In fact, he lived 4-5 doors up the street from us.
He was just visiting in Los Angeles for a week. We said "hello," then went our separate ways.
Years later, the guy became a judge in Seattle, but was forced to resign over some "scandal".
-
I'm up (barely) and shall shortly be on my way to do stuff.
-
Front porch railing - done! And just in time, too, because it's clouding up and looking like rain...

Hope that photo didn't put anyone into wide-screen!
-
That's some very nice decorating, DR Ginny.
-
Thanks, DR ChasSmith!
-
I never go into or out of widescreen. I keep my browser maximized and everything just works.
Might also have to do with monitor resolution, too.
-
December is the month of many birthdays.
I'm in semi shock it is already December.
-
DR Laura, I'm glad you enjoyed the Donny Osmond concert with Marie.
So am I.
-
DR Ginny your house looks very nice.
-
I'm home from Encores! I got through one and a half pieces - which I'll finish on Tuesday - and Joshie and I had nice visit and work session. I got home, took the laundry to the laundromat, made the bed, and now I'm having some lunch. After the laundry goes into the dryers, I'll vacuum. when the wash is finished, I've got DEAREST ENEMY lyrics to type up.
-
Good day. I'm up and have 2 of the 3 DD's to the groomer. The other will go later when I pick up the other 2. My Eileen CD came yesterday. Looking forward to having a listen.
I'm a huge fan of Free To Be...You and Me both as a child and as an adult. I use it in the classroom all the time.

I get concerned about shipments from Amazon UK going astray when they take a few more days than usual to get here, but this is the first time I've sent them a note about it. I ordered "Sundays and Cybele" and one other film on November 13th, so we're two-and-a-half weeks out. Typical transit time is one to one-and-a-half weeks, and though probably meaningless, their own ETA was the 20th. It's just a regular Royal Mail/U.S. Mail shipment with no tracking possible, so it'll be interesting to see how they respond.
-
I'm a little tired of my snobby theatre friends dissing on the trailers of the new "Les Miserables" movie. (which is being released on Christmas Day in case you hadn't heard). I just want to bitch-slap them from here to Tuesday. It's a MOVIE!! If you want Broadway voices, then watch the DVD's of the concerts. IMHO, it's not fair to compare a stage to screen transfer of a Broadway show. They are two different animals that require two different types of people, one of which would be a known movie STAR.
Sorry, it just gets on my nerves.
-
Back from some bacon and eggs, errands and whatnot, and no packages. Stumble-through in an hour.
-
I would say it was rainy outside, but we never seem to get past drizzly.
-
Episode one of season two has now passed 10,000 views. Color me happy.
-
I am a man without bacon and eggs. This must be rectified forthwith.
Excellent news about the views!
-
Response came in just over half an hour: Amazon UK is sending a replacement shipment at no charge. If first shipment arrives, I'm to keep or donate it with their compliments.
-
Finding oneself still on Page 2 at nearly four in the afternoon is like getting out of Arleta but having only made it as far as Sylmar.
-
Laundry is finished. I am very pleased.
-
The floor is vacuumed.
DR Matthew, I hope you enjoy the EILEEN recording.
-
I made a ham and egg and cheese sandwich on wheat for lunch. It was fabulous. My left upper arm still aches, I took some ibruprofin and hopefully that will help. I'm off to do things and will eventually end up at the restaurant this eve to play and sing some tunes. Looking forward to singing "Merry Christmas Darling" again, it just makes me cry.
-
DR Ginny your house looks very nice.
Thank you, DR Jane. It's kind of a mess right now, with Christmas decorating in progress.
-
Thank you, all. I did indeed enjoy the show last night. Yet I still say my favorite kind of concert is an intimate one like BK writes. I don't need mics, dancers, strobe lights, and sets. Just a singer and a piano and pianist.
-
They said to prepare for 65 people for the funeral today. I did a quick count of 106, and I'm sure I missed some folks.
-
I took some advil at the end of the service, so I was able to get through all those dishes without my back hurting. The sinks are so big and so deep, and the concrete floor is so hard.
-

Do you have to drive far to the groomer?
-

You said Ruby was much loved.

Did you have any help? Taking something before the pain started was a good idea. With such a hard floor to stand on why don't you have cushioned pads in front of the sink?
-
DR Jennifer I didn't want to get up this morning as I was engrossed in CATCH ME.
I'm going to go finish reading it now.
-
Oh, there was LOTS of help.
-
Thank goodness for that. I feared you were doing all the work by yourself.
-
I only finished one chapter. I did finish drying my hair.
-

Sorry, it just gets on my nerves.
I can see both points of view. I don't mind have movie stars. But I need them to be able to sing. I'd almost rather they use huge theatre stars that are also well known.
It will be interesting to see the movie. I am hoping for the best.
-
I have barely been getting to the gym to work out let alone swim. Today I got in the pool again. I had trouble getting my rhythm which seemed odd until I realized it was due to my arm hurting. It wasn't enough to keep me from getting in a good swim with few rests & now it felt better by the end of the swim.
-
DR Jennifer I didn't want to get up this morning as I was engrossed in CATCH ME.
I'm going to go finish reading it now.
Yah! I loved it too. I read that one of the characters from LOVE ME MORE (is that the exact title?) is in the new book.
-
We were lucky it didn't begin raining until we were almost home. I'm extremely grateful I caught the sun yesterday with my trip to Medford and all my errands I had to do.
-
I like to wait till December 1st to wear my winter jacket so I don't have to wear it for more than 4 months.
So i put it on today and it was a bit tight over the stomach. :(
-
It was freaking cold out today. -17C with windchill. OC=32F.
Even weirder it is supposed to be 12C/mid 50s on Tuesday?? How is that even possible?
-
I am going to try to do my hoopnotica every day. It can't hurt. :)
-
My tv that is hooked up to my PVR won't turn on. :(
-
That is what put me in a bad mood yesterday.
-
DR Ginny your house looks very nice.
I looks great.

I thought it was being released on Christmas Day.
-
Even though it's late, I think I need a nap.
-
DR Ginny your house looks very nice.
I looks great.
Thanks, DR John G! Since I took the photo, I've put the wreath on the door and the candle lights in the front windows.
-
Had a pretty terrific stumble-through with only a couple of minor lyric flubs. Bill Hayes told us all up front he wouldn't be able to be here for today's rehearsal, but he's such a pro that he showed up anyway. The show order worked wonderfully and I gave just a couple of notes, and we ran a couple of tings and that was that..
-
Then a few of us went to the Studio Cafe where I ate just a little more than I'd intended to. Oh, well.
-
Now what is this page three malarky? This isn't a way to welcome in December, so we'd better get us a frenzy or three - I can assure only those of us who are posting today that December will be a wonderful month, so I'm hoping everyone will show up to get our vibes and xylophones.
-
Even our usual number of sixty GUESTS has diminished by half.

Glad I'm here today then.
-
I've been pondering Christmas gifts and working on an orchestration for fun. The laundry is put away and I'm about ready to head for bed.
-
Am up from my nap. Highly enjoyable.
Watching Keaton in the alternate edit of "The Saphead." He's funny just standing still.
-
I have been playing with The Bad Translator web site again. It's always a good way to unwind.
-
One more.
-
In fact, I put in BK's first post today, and this is what it translated to be:
Original text:
"Well, you've read the notes, the notes had joy and were written in December, and now it is time for you to post until the December cows come home."
...35 translations later, Bing gives us:
"The letters in the yakhian print screen 12/07-the bombing investigation."
-
On to four!
-
Original text:
" Page 4 dance!"
...35 translations later, Bing gives us:
"(1) 4."

-
That is what put me in a bad mood yesterday.
I can understand that. Have you fixed the hook-up problem? I'm sure it won't take you long to fix the coat problem. When you set your mind to it you seems to do well on a diet.
-
I watched a little of "It's a Wonderful Life," thinking of my late aunt, who loved it so much.
-
We sold a case of books today and had some fabulous pizza made right out side the door in a mobile truck. Jane, the Funguy pizza would have been right up your alley. Amazing oyster mushrooms and cheese baked together on top of a good crust. The finish touch was fresh arugula tossed in truffle oil.
-
Let's not talk about putting on a few pounds, shall we?

DR John G, GREAT PIC! Do you know how to crop to make this your avatar?

Sounds good to me too!
I just read on yahoo that truffle oil was the secret ingredient in an award-winning macaroni and cheese recipe.

Congratulations on the book, DR JohnG!

Thank you, Kevin.

No, Jane. I don't.

Sometimes one translation (well, two--from English and back to English using a different translator) can be hilarious!

Since ChasSmith didn't get his Sundays and Cybele, I'm watching it again for the umpteenth time - I think I must have seen this film about sixty times during its original two year of play dates. I followed it around and went to any theater that was playing it. I saw it at a sneak preview, during its initial run in both French and English, and then followed it to every second run house and eventually to theaters like the Encore, that would play interesting double bills from a year or two back - in fact I saw this and Umbrellas of Cherbourg together at the Encore (which was on Melrose) - two of the most beautiful films ever made - one in stunning color, one in stunning black-and-white scope. I don't think you could make Sundays and Cybele in quite the same way today without people's "now" attitudes getting in the way. A shame, since they'd truly miss the point of the film. Patricia Gozzi is a miracle in this film.
-
No, Jane. I don't.
I don't either but we have some talented people here if you would like it done.... hint, hint.
-
Congratulations on the case of books sold, John.
Yes, congrats on the books sold. :)

Very nice Freddie.

After half an hour of searching I finally found an eBook from my "to read" list available from my library. They didn't even offer most of the books I searched for.
I still have some purchased books to read so I would have been ok.

Night, Jane. I'll take the hint and get something new in there. That photo is a few years old now.

Really? I saw Grace Church on Broadway as MEDEA.
-
The Encore! Which I also (later?) knew as the Continental. There was something about that place that made it just a little different from the standard revival house.
And Oy! what a double feature! I just looked, expecting to find a nice Region B Blu release of Umbrellas. Nada.

I am borrowing the Vixter's laptop I find it too diffilcult trying to type on the Nook

STILL have this stupid head cold thing --- was on antibiotics all week to no avail - what I really needed was to spend a few days in the bed but THAT wasn't going to happen

Wow! Very nice.
-
Ginny your house looks very nice - would you like to pop by and sort mine out?
you may need to bring some help
like the crew from Completely Knock The Old Place Down And Start From Scratch or whatever that house makeover show is called
-
I'm hoping to see The Guilt Trip tomorrow through this website:
http://www.gofobo.com/rsvp/landing/11245221
They tell you upfront that they overbook so seats are not guaranteed. I have to convince my friends to go early.

Thank you, DRs TCB and Vixmom!

I would say that Hugh Jackman would certainly qualify as a Broadway musical person. And he never missed a performance in the BOY FROM OZ, much to Kevin Spirtas' chagrin.

Coincidentally, the Maryland PBS stations are showing the 25th Anniversary Concert version right now.

thanks John G congratulatrions on your book sales!!
-
While I enjoyed Hugh Jackman immensely in The Boy from Oz, I wonder how he'll be singing "Bring Him Home." Looking forward to the movie, nonetheless.
-
I finally got to see Episode 2 of Outside of the Box - very funny
-
We're watching Wisconsin blow Nebraska away in the Big Ten Championship game.
-
Thanks, Vixmom.
And thank you, Ben. Am on the second episode of "The Pickwick Papers." Very amusing.

DR Ginny your house looks very nice.
I looks great.
Yes, John, you always do.

good for you!! Are you seeing an improvement?

There is that Cadillac commercial that they are currently showing of them testing the car's handling on the streets of Monte Carlo. It is so cool to watch that commercial and recognize all of those places that I was visiting just three years ago.
-
This weekend I am scheduled for a mission moment - I am telling the story I shared with you about the lady withe baby needing diapers
I spoke today at the Saturday evening service and need to speak at both services tomorrow morning -- I hope my throat holds up

Right, there's no Blu of Umbrellas and I hope there isn't until the widow Demy lets someone who knows what they're doing restore it. "Her" restoration of The Young Girls of Rochefort was horrifying and I'm quite sure her husband would have divorced her had he lived to see what she'd done. Thankfully, it was restored anew (in the true sense of the word "restored") by others and that's on Blu-ray in France and absolutely stunning. I want them to do Umbrellas.

I drove my car today for the first time in 11 months.
good for you!! Are you seeing an improvement?
The main problem I have is the loss of feeling in the left leg and foot. But it was when I lost the feeling in the right foot that caused me to stop driving. There is certainly some improvement in my right foot, but it is the left leg that is still the problem. The right foot is better than it was, but I still don't think I would want to drive any great distance.

Big Brother is Your Friend....
Vixdad and I want to get a gift certificate for his sister for Christmas from a store in her town on Canada - but we could not remember the name of the store BUT we know how to get there --- we went on Google maps found the block went to street view - found the store - found out it's name - Google supplied the full address and phone number and voila! We were able to arrange the matter!
thank you Google maps!

A bunch of Long Island Lutherans prayed for you today - and will again tomorrow morning!
-
But I stopped and bought myself a mocha and then drove to the Rite Aid to pick up my prescription, which was the main reason for the drive. Then I drove home, parked the car, and then got myself back into my apartment with no problem.

Congratulations.
BTW, what is this humility thing you speak of?

Thank you, my friend, to both you and the members of your church.

DR Ginny your house looks very nice.
I looks great.
Well you did write that you looked great, which wasn't the most humble thing to say. ;D
-
I turned off the football game that Ginny was watching because it was so one-sided. Instead, I turned to the Texas vs. Kansas St game, but now it is becoming one sided, as well.
-
well I must get to bed--- good night all
-
Congratulations on today's milestone, DR TCB!
-
Fr. Richard's medical leave is over, so I have an early wake-up call tomorrow - 'night!

Congratulations on today's milestone, DR TCB!
Thanks everyone. It was kind of exciting.

Well, my work here is done.

Good night, all.

Our GUESTS seem to have deserted us. Since I now believe that many of our supposed GUESTS are spambots registering for the site, I no longer give a flying Wallenda HOW many GUESTS we have. We know the real ones are relentlessly reading old topics and viewing the current one.

Today is of course a work day.....oh well.
Continued run vibes for DR GEORGE.
Thanks, Jack! Today was a great performance with a great audience. I took a nap in between that and ushering for the Masterworks Choral Ensemble. I'm now up in my bedroom with my netpad, watching TV.
-
That's some very nice decorating, DR Ginny.
Agreed! It's quite lovely, Ginny. :D

That is freakin' hysterical!! ;D

Topic of the Day...O! M! G! It actuall happened this evening while I was ushering. We didn't aknowledge each other tonight, I'm sure, because he was with his wife. ::)
:P
-
Actually, I had no interest in seeing him (when we first met a few years ago) after he told me that he had a wife...and that wasn't going to change.
-
I don't have a problem seeing someone who had a wife, but I do not want anyone who currently has a wife.
-
TMI...I know.
