Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Kritzerland number 28, and now it is time for you to post until the 28 cows come home.

TOD: Platform shoes for men. I was in seventh or eighth grade and had to have them. Why, I don't know. Most likely with bell bottom trousers as well.

I think such atrocities (leisure suits, those polyester shirts with the big collars and the pictures on them) sent me in the direction of clothing that was all-natural, comfortable and practical.

Good morning, all! My last dream was about the house on 711 Tenth Avenue, my grandmother's house where I lived with my parents,  ny unmarriedAunt Dorothy, my Uncles Paul and Bob, and my grandparents for the first three years of my life. The house was full of paranormal activity and it still terrifies me and fascinates me. In last night's dream, some of my relatives and I went back to the house to check it out, now that the last tenants had moved out. Nowthat I'm awake, I seem to be obsessing about the geography of the place.

So, I will be heading to Toyland this morning, The work is waiting.

Great news about last night's show.

Coffee!

The team won their CIF division.

It was fun to see the parent support for all the teams, and the hot dogs were great at every game.
Saturday night was in Torrance in the RAIN.  That was a trip.   ;D

DR George I also watched this week's GLEE yesterday.

What do you (or anyone else who watches) think of how they are using the kids who graduated? I like what they did for Finn. And I think Rachel and Kurt are working out well.  The parts seem much smaller for many of the others who were so prominent before (like Quinn and Santana and Puck).

Probably 1970s garb in general.  In the very early '70s, platform shoes, bell bottoms (oh, for a picture of the couple of pairs I'm remembering!).  And the, uh, hair?  Later, the polyester, etc.  Oy!  The memories!

Monday morning greetings!  I slept until about 9 this morning, dreaming right before I woke up about living in an apartment at 70th and West End Avenue in NYC.  It was a beautiful terra cotta style building and we lived on the 12th floor.  I was busy meeting the neighbors and discovering that there was a Starbucks in the lobby.

TOD - women's "dress for success," as proscribed by John Molloy - skirted dark suits with blouses with bow ties.  This was the late '70s/early '80s, when I was a very young administrator trying to keep up with the execs on campus.  In 1985, I traded that look for maternity attire, followed by the stay-at-home Mom look.  When I finally went back to work in the '90s, my professional look was much more relaxed.

Back from food, no packages (annoying!) and trying to connect to Face Time to see a run-through of Sandy's show.  These people are so inept about easy stuff like this, and apparently the Signature Theater, a MAJOR Washington theater, has NO Wi-fi in their complex.

Last night, I watched "The Birds" and then "Rear Window" on blu ray disc.

I enjoyed them both very much.  For "Rear Window", it actually felt like the first time I'd seen the film (although I've seen the film many times on VHS and DVD).

There is an extraordinary amount of detail on view I'd never before noticed.   Ditto for "The Birds".

I swear, what is with these "reviewers" on these Blu-ray sites?  They can't possibly be as inane as they seem, can they?  In a "review" of the new Gypsy release on Blu and Ray, the "reviewer" states that "according to the imdb" the Together Wherever We Go number and the extra bit of You'll Never Get Away from Me number were cut shortly after the film's release.  No.  Never.  Cut after an early preview the numbers were never in any release of Gypsy.  Why would anyone trying to have credibility as a reviewer trust the imdb to have ANY accurate information, when it is well known that whatever good that site may provide, it is clearly riddled with horrendous errors.

Back from another day of Gift Bags. I took a shower and a nap and then tomorrow it's back for more.

It's supposed to be 65 degrees in Manhattan tomorrow!!!

I'll be inside most of the day but it will still be nice when I leave.

Next week I'm finally seeing War Horse (it closes in January) and I'm seeing the new play The Other Place by Sharr White, directed by Joe Mantello and starring Laurie Metcalf. It had an Off-Broadway run and Metcalf got rapturous reviews. The show popped up on TDF so I got a ticket. I'll be done with bag packing by then so I can just enjoy the day and then go to the theatre.

Such a delightful person and wonderful singer!  I think she sang just about every song from her album. The duets were with a local actor/singer,whose name escapes me, but he was very good.  "Be a Santa" was like a production number, with Sandy and the other singer in Santa costumes, and there were 8 backup singers.

Yes.   It was in the smaller of the two theatres (or are there three?) within the Signature, but it was almost full.

If I go it will be on Saturday.  I think I may be coming down with a cold, so I'm going to wait a day or two to decide.  I'm using a frequent flyer award so I can wait (assuming a seat will be available).

One of the nicer benefits that the company provides is a service called My Helper. You can pay someone on staff $5 an hour to do what you need to get done but can't because of work. It could be buying Christmas presents for everyone on your list, standing in line for concert tickets, dropping off or picking up dry cleaning, you name it. Sounds strange, but it's apparently very popular. One of the better uses is if you're home sick and you need someone to bring you a prescription or food or whatever.

I tell you, it's really nice. Plus, there's an on-site pharmacy where you can get all your family's prescriptions filled, two post offices where you can mail packages as well as buy stamps. And one of the five Starbucks is actually the No. 1 store in the chain in terms of sales.

He was creeping me out.  It was a photo of a clown that came to a city council meeting a couple years ago.  He was trying to say something about his neighborhood then get to the circus but the meeting ran too late.  It was pretty funny and he didn't break character or talk until he had to to address his problem

I think I may have found a new cat sitter!!  I emailed the local humane society last night and said I needed an in home cat sitter and asked from recommendations.   Tonight a woman called me.  She does exactly the same thing as my former cat sitter, but not as a full time job.  She's actually a nurse.  She only lives about 5 blocks from me.  She even charges the same amount that Sharon did.   I'm checking her references, one person I don't really know at the Humane Society and a good friend who has a wildlife rescue.  She isn't always available, but this could be a life saver.

We're going to try it out over Christmas

I hope she works out well, Cilla.

Thanks, me too.  She wants to come and spend some time with the cats while I'm here and doesn't care if my house is a mess.  Now that's a cat sitter

Maybe it's just me, but nothing says Merry Christmas quite like Ethel Merman braying, "What's the matter, Imogene? You look like an idiot!"

Maybe that's why this clip is just so special.

I have to say it's been awful not to have someone who can come in and give Callie her meds.  If it wasnt' for that it would be pretty easy to have someone check in on them.

G'night!

Tonight Callie started playing  "catch me if you can" at medicine time.  I didn't want to play so I ignored her.  Then I couldn't find her anywhere (Catch me often turns into hide and seek).  When I finally found her, she had crawled into a box behind the futon upstairs.  I had set a small lamp shade on it.  She apparently squeezed under it because it was sitting on her head, lol.  I didn't take a photo, but I really should have it was hilarious

Glad to hear the show went well for the East Coast Singer.  This was a completely frustrating thing for me and I'm still irritated about it.  Five-year-olds can Face Time but nobody at the Signature Theater could figure it out.  Unbelievable.  So, I never saw any run-throughs or anything.  So, that's not exactly directing - I suppose what I did was create the act - the show order, the patter, and I gave her private direction on the phone.  But in terms of staging, I gave her all her entrances and exits, and I told the group people how to get on and off - the choreography was by a friend of hers.  She knows this kind of thing will never ever happen again.

Susan Seaforth was not at the show - she had another engagement.

I HATE THIS DAMN iTUNES UPDATE.  I can't figure out anything.  It was so simple before.  You made a playlist and dragged songs into it.  Now the playlist doesn't show up on the left as before, and when you click on "playlists" you get them but you no longer see your songs, so how you get the songs into your playlists is beyond me.  I'm calling Apple tomorrow and will have them talk me through going back to the previous version until they get their SHIT together.

Didn't someone post a link that explains how this new iTunes version works?

One of the nicer benefits that the company provides is a service called My Helper. You can pay someone on staff $5 an hour to do what you need to get done but can't because of work. It could be buying Christmas presents for everyone on your list, standing in line for concert tickets, dropping off or picking up dry cleaning, you name it. Sounds strange, but it's apparently very popular. One of the better uses is if you're home sick and you need someone to bring you a prescription or food or whatever.

WOW!  Can I work there too?
I tell you, it's really nice. Plus, there's an on-site pharmacy where you can get all your family's prescriptions filled, two post offices where you can mail packages as well as buy stamps. And one of the five Starbucks is actually the No. 1 store in the chain in terms of sales.

Dang, are you working for Microsoft?
No. USAA.

The insurance people?

HA!  That's the first thing I looked for after the update.  There was no way I was going to exist without the sidebars!

I like Kurt and Rachel's storyline to a certain extent and it's nice to bring the others back every once in a while, but it's a high school.  I think that any show that is set in a high school needs to bite the bullet and let the seniors graduate and go out into the world.  Don't try to make up reasons why the popular characters (really, the actors) are still on the show.

This will NOT do.  It should not be like pulling teeth to have our usual number of postings.  Where in tarnation is Jane?  ChasSmith?  George? DougR? And more.  Let's get some posting goin' on or there will most assuredly be hell toupee.

Today was a very busy day at work.  I was working on annual evaluations for my staff (they were due last Friday ::)).  My supervisor said that she was behind on what she had to do for the evaluations so I didn't feel so bad about being late with mine.  Anyway, I still have a couple to do, but I should be able to get them done tomorrow.  It's all on-line.

The worst thing is is that ALL evaluations are supposed to be done at the end of the year.  This was changed a few years ago.  They used to be done on each employee's annual hire date...which made a lot more sense AND spread them out throughout the year.  It's very inconvenient to have to schedule time to do my own self-evaluation and then do my staff's five evaluations, all within a very short time. :P

Sherlock has his own Christmas card.  I guess at this point it won't be available until next year.  I'm not sure.

So I met Sandy after the show--she was so nice. I told her I was on Bruce's website and that I would be reporting what  a great job she did. I also mentioned that the people on the site love the CD.

That's wonderful, Kevin!
