Well, you've read the notes, the notes were dreamy, and now it is time for you to post until the dreaming cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EFFERVESCENT!
-
BK, here's the link to the iTunes article:
http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57556548-37/7-features-apple-killed-off-in-itunes-11/
It explains the major changes. I haven't updated my iTunes yet. I think I'll wait as long as I can.
-
It's horrible, this update. No one likes it. Meanwhile, Sandy's album is now up on iTunes for those who do that sort of thing. If you don't want the whole album, of course I'd recommend my song as the one to get for a buck.
-
Well, I'm off to bed...in the morning, I need to finish the rest of the evaluations for my staff. And tonight, a bunch of us from Theater Artists Olympia (and friends of TAO) are going to see Quentin Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs" on the big screen! I've never seen it before and TAO is going to do a stage adaptation in April. I've been told that it's very good.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good Morning. Yesterday was most definitely Monday-- all over. So, at least today is NOT Monday.
-
Good morning, all.
Vibes for Vixmom and anyone else under the weather.
Day two of orientation. We'll see how many people get lost trying to find their way to the conference room. I probably would on my first day without guidance in that enormous complex. I remember losing my car.
-
TOD: I don't remember too many of my dreams. I know I have the recurring one where I'm supposed to be taking a test in a classroom that I haven't attended the entire semester. Last night, I dreamed I was being bullied again, as I was when I was younger. I seem to recall turning around and biting someone. I never did that in real life, so I don't know why I did it in a dream.
JRand, you could be busy today.
-
Jane, the Christmas card was great.
Vixmom, yes, it's USAA the insurance company.
-
Good morning, all!
Another restless night, between the coldand a lot of peculiar dreams; the only one I remember is another variation on the "Back at the Drama Book Shop" dream. It was something to do with contacting a publisher about an ISBN change, the Book Shop's ridiculous inventory card system, a Christmas party, and my resigntion. Variatons on this dream have been the one I've had most in thepast 15 years.
I am off to City Center to help Joshie today. There should be a dull office, with me, Joshie's brother Jeremy, and Elise the former intern helping to prepare SUPERMAN for the orchestra reading onDec. 20.
I need some breakfast.
-
Good morning, all.
Coffee. Banana. Sourdough toast. Ethel Merman braying "You look like an idiot!"
-
Today's a busy one and I must be out and about.
Of course, I was out and about yesterday, with little to show for it.
-
Today, at least, whilst out and abouting, I will have the pleasure of acting out an imitation of a fragment of a slice of BK's dream by walking into a store that sells secondhand DVDs and CDs, where I can entertain, however briefly, the folly of an idea that I will happen upon something rare and precious.
-
Good news from DR CILLA LIZ about a cat sitter....and from DR VIXMOM about her laptop.
I am sure you will DR CHAS SMITH.....may I recommend that you buy a Sonja Henie DVD - especially IT'S A PLEASURE - surely no one would keep that after one viewing.
-
I am feeling a bit better this morning, and so I shall venture out into the rain to do some banking and shopping.
-
TOD:
I dream of Jeannie with the light brown hair....
::)
-
Ah good. I've got the iTunes sidebar back. But what's happened to the album artwork graphics which were on the left of the songs? Have they gone for good?
-
DR Vixmom. Great news about your laptop being fixed!
-
DR Cillaliz, good news about the new cat sitter!
-
I don't use itunes. But that is crazy. Why make an update that is worse than what they had before??

TOD:
If I fully described my few most oft-recurring dreams, they'd be the longest posts ever because, once I start really documenting one -- which includes explaining every possible reference and describing things in a way that another person might actually visualize -- there's no turning back. Some fifteen years ago I did try keeping a dream journal, which, surprisingly for me, I actually continued for a couple of years. It's a crazy pursuit, but there's something so special about certain dreams that I'm happy I captured some in that time period, because in the case of the recurring themes, a few can represent the many. I've been a little sad about saying no to immortalizing a few since then because there have been some doozies. Maybe I'll take that journal out someday and transcribe a few.
In the meantime, one recurring dream is similar to BK's insofar as it involves a downtown or some other compelling or unique shopping venue, with the goal being a particular store or stores where I know I'll find the place piled high with those things many of us here love -- books, records, music, movies -- and sometimes, for me, vintage stereo components and a few other older collectible things. This dream often branches out to include movie theaters and, sometimes, wonderful old places to eat.
For anyone who knows me and my interests at all, these dreams are blatantly obvious. They might sometimes be about a made up place, but usually they're a return to real places -- even if a particular dream doesn't resemble the real thing, because some of them become downright surreal in their architecture.
I think I said it once right here, with regard to movie theaters, that I've never stopped trying to return to the beloved ones from my distant past. We talk about a lot of this stuff right here, so no great mystery. And I have no doubt the dreams will always return. As do other themes, which I'll try to summarize in shorter fashion.
-
TOD:
I dream of Brownie in the light blue jeans...
-
TOD - Act II:
This might actually be my single most recurring dream, and I haven't the slightest idea where it comes from, or why. In brief (this won't even begin to describe it)...
I wake up, usually very groggy from oversleeping. I've been traveling (never quite sure where) and I'm in this place we've been staying overnight or for a few days. I'm with other people. They are either current friends, past co-workers, family (from WAY past), sometimes a combination of these. We might be in a motel, but are usually in someone's house or apartment. The place is a mess and we're up against a deadline in getting our stuff packed up again and moving on. Typically, I have overslept and am behind the others in getting my stuff together.
And that's all of it that I'll attempt to put down. Described in full, this dream and its variations will take up a whole chapter in my book.
-
John G., you had these on your dill/parsley/fennel:
http://andthisiswhatisawtoday.blogspot.com/2012/10/very-tiny-black-swallowtail-caterpillar.html
The ones I posted yesterday were monarchs on milkweed.
-
TOD: For a while there, my recurring dream was some variation of being trapped underground.
-
Two of the black swallowtail caterpillars got away from me, but I have the other three chrysalises in a zippered hamper. They didn't ever eclose, so I am thinking they will overwinter and eclose in the spring.
-
And the word of the day is: EFFERVESCENT!
And The Song Of The Day Is: THE NIGHT THEY INVENTED CHAMPAGNE

And the word of the day is: EFFERVESCENT!

Or what's that wonderful old comedy one by Jim Backus -- "DELICIOUS!"

The Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that this dream indicates that you do not put friends in particular places in your life, but that you enjoy them throughout your life....no matter how much time passes between visits. You are not yet sure of your destination in life - and you are pleased that so many people you know seem to know exactly where they are going. To you, the journey is as important as the destination.
-
Certainly the Dream-O-Matic 6000 is working on MR BK's dream.
It indicates to begin with that MR BK is at ease with change and even sometimes seeks it out - particularly when things are not to his liking. He always has a purpose to his travel and is positive of his destination - although he is not against taking a side road when something looks interesting.
People, places, and things keep him interested in life - and although there is a longing for some things past - the present and the future are what interests him the most.

TOD:
Best: Hmnmm....very difficult. I once had a dream I was watching a space ship visitation...watching the ships do formations through a picture window in a house I lived in with my folks in the late-50s, early-60s.
Another was a dream I had of a friend who had suddenly died. I dreamed he called me and told me he wasn't really dead but that he could not "know me" any longer as he was in hiding and living incognito. I asked him how he could abandon his career (entertainment interviewer on syndicated PBS show), how he could give everything up, and he said he had no choice. (Obviously, I was trying to find a way of coping with his death).
Worst: I don't remember when I had the dream, but I must have been in college, because the setting was at a couple of specific locations on my college's campus. I recall I was rehearsing a play and sirens went off. We all went to the basement of the theater and learned there had been a nuclear strike along the eastern seaboard. We were none of us sure what would happen to any of us, but I remember thinking of my parents and wondering if they were all right. I went to the stairs of the basement and started up. I was told I shouldn't go out, but I didn't care. When I opened the door, it was snowing. The view was of moutains and buildings and trees, all covered with snow. And I knew it was all radioactive and deadly. And then I woke up.
Recurring: I'm in college, but "not"....i.e., not in the actual college I attended. It's time to graduate, but I realize I have one class I only attended a couple of times and that if I don't take the exam and pass it, I won't graduate. I find the building, which is identical to the old junior high school I attended (vast halls and classrooms with high ceilings and huge windows), and run in, but I don't know where the classroom is. I go from room to room and find some lighted with students and some are dark. I never find my final exams room, however. And then I wake up.
-

Wow, those must be fast caterpillers if they can outrun you! ;)
-
Forgot to answer re Best and Worst dreams. In fact, I don't think I have any idea what those would be. But I have a feeling Worst will be easier to recall. Nevertheless, I'll have to give it some thought.
-
My medication is making me sleepy......but at least I am not hungry, too.
-
Jrand, that is very interesting.
-
The iTunes cover flow is indeed completely gone.
-
I'm up. Had a nice note from the East Coast Singer and we'll be chatting about the show, her upcoming NY show and other things.
-
Oh, and I'm up.
-
Jrand, that is very interesting.
LOL it is YOUR dream.....
-
I like Deanna Durbin movies.
-
On my way out to watch a couple of Hitchcock films projected on this guy's ten-foot screen. Back tonight.
-
I am home from City Center. Josh and I had a good day. I finished the long number I began on Sunday andthen did "You've Got Possibilities." Now,it's time for some lunch.
-
Late lunch.
-
Late lunch.
Very!
-
And it was delish!
-
Hi - been up, done that today. Life is becoming a little complicated. Please excuse me if I use HHW to vent in the future!
-
Tuesday afternoon greetings! Today was the grantwriters' annual holiday luncheon. I slept later than I should have and had to rush around to get ready, so I didn't even turn the computer this morning. As predicted, it started raining during the meeting and I had several stops to make on the way home. In for the evening with the fixings for burgers for dinner.
-
TOD - the recurring librarian dream is that it's closing time and I can't get people to leave the building. The worst dream I've ever had was at the start of the first Iraq war, when Rob was about 5 years old. I dreamed that Richard had reenlisted and was standing at the kitchen sink in fatigues and combat boots. Best dream was night before last when we were living at 70th and West End Avenue in New York. We had an apartment on the 12th floor and there was a Starbucks in the lobby.
-
Am having a cup of some kind of southwestern soup with rice. There are blackbeans and some other stuff I can't readily identify. It's delicious, though.
-
Why did I not know about the movie "Hitchcock?" Has anyone seen it here?
-
I've been out and about, bought tickets for tonight's lottery, andI will have some vegetable soup for dinner. It's a RIZZOLI & ISLES night on TNT. andI'm hoping to bein bed by 9pm.
I've been reading the new Mordden book on Weill and Lenya that Peter Filichia raved about a couple of weeks ago. Well, I'm enjoying it more than I thought, but I find his writing so twee and cutesy-poo that I gag at least once per chapter. He still needs a fact checker.
-
DR Cilla, poor funny Callie. ;D A photo would have been nice. Speaking of photos do you have one of the new cat tree?
-
Thank you DR's George & John G.
If it weren't already December I would have to send Christmas cards this year.
-
Why did I not know about the movie "Hitchcock?" Has anyone seen it here?
No and am curious if anyone does see it.
-
Hi - been up, done that today. Life is becoming a little complicated. Please excuse me if I use HHW to vent in the future!
Feel free to. Vibes your complications will improve soon!!
-
When I'm in pain I have horrible dreams of being tortured.
-

Now I am going back to sleep.
-

-

-

-
If a turkey is crazy, does he yield flibberty-giblets?
-
Has anyone here heard the story about the cross-eyed bear?
-
His name was Gladly.
-
Gladly, the cross-eyed bear?
-
Hmmm...
-
Sigh!
-
Woah. DR RLP, what was in that soup??? LOL
-
DR JANE I liked the Sherlock card from yesterday.

Thank you.
Sleep well & feel better!

Hello. I went to the dentist today. And then went to Kohl's. And then to Target.
-
Laundry is done.
-
Laundry is done.
DR KevinH, your life and mine have so much in common!

John G., you had these on your dill/parsley/fennel:

The ones I posted yesterday were monarchs on milkweed.
I do see the difference. Thank you.
-
I'm still working on evaluations. ::)
-
Day 2 of the
indoctrination orientation went well. We got to watch the company meeting, during which the rest of the staff (the folks who have been here longer) heard about their Christmas bonus (two additional weeks of pay).
-
We also got to eat (I only tasted) an MRE, or Meal Ready to Eat, which is what the troops eat in the field. It was rather nasty and although it had a ton of sodium in it (yes, they come with nutritional breakdowns), the lack of salt was all too evident. Ours was chicken with black beans and rice with a too-dry chocolate chip cookie and a brown sugar pop tart with peanut butter and crackers.
I am more impressed with our men and women who defend our country if this is what we give them to eat.

My retaliation, I guess, was to make a vegan dinner, a carrot and zucchini salad with cilantro, orange juice, toasted pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds. Really lively and fun.

I thought they had killed the dill (not a sequel to "Kill Bill," either volume), but the stems have remained green. I keep watering it. I have hope.

Watching the last of the Wallenders in this set. Can't wait to get more from the library.

NICE!!

Well, they are hungry critters. One thing you can always do is move them to another plant. They will eat parsley, dill, fennel, and rue. I had one that I moved from fennel (when I ran out) to a dill. He later wandered over to a parsley plant before he left to become a chrysalis. I still haven't found it.
-
I have lost all my addresses in the Laptop Incident
If you would like a Christmas card please IM me with your address

VIXMOM!!!!!!
Two words of advice: LICENSED CONTRACTOR

It's OK with me. I'm glad to feed them. They stay away from the figs then and the rest of the herbs.

I know, I'm beside myself. I wish the hat weren't that style though. It would be way to big for me. I'll definitely get me a t-shirt for the gym, stickers & an ornament. I might get stickers of some of the other dogs I know that she has done.

It's horrible, this update. No one likes it. Meanwhile, Sandy's album is now up on iTunes for those who do that sort of thing. If you don't want the whole album, of course I'd recommend my song as the one to get for a buck.
Probably a stupid question, Bruce, but do you get any money for each download of one your songs?
-
So, now that we have a Trader Joe's, we can participate in the recall food recalls. The latest to be ripped from the shelves is a butter chicken dish. Now, that's something I might eat. At least the butter part.
-
Let's move on.

Five!

I don't use itunes. But that is crazy. Why make an update that is worse than what they had before??

The wrap-up of tonight's RIZZOLI & ISLES went by so fast my head is still spinning!
And I am off to bed. Tomorrow is a Toyland day.
Where is our DR Danise, speaking of Whatever's List?
-
Yes, where is DR Danise? And Dan (the Man)?
-
Congrats to Lauren!
-
Jane, the Sherlock items are wonderful!

Watching "Miracle on 34th Street" again, this time with Maureen O'Hara's commentary. Really a lot of fun. And a great way to balance out the brutality of the latest "Wallender."

Congrats to Lauren!
Ditto

we watched Love, Actually tonight
it was fun
I love that movie
-
I saw Beauty and the Beast for the first time tonight. It was the touring show at the Orpheum. it was fantastic!
-
Just found out "the Beast" I saw tonight is a friend of former DR Jason. Guess I should have asked before I went to the show. Darick Pead was wonderful. This was the last line of the SC Journal review
"Even better? It had a Beast who really roared. Based on his performance Tuesday night, Pead is destined for very big things."
-
I haven't stopped once today. I had a long telephonic conversation with the East Coast Singer, I went to the editing room and made the tiny changes, then the editor and I went to Dino's Pizza where we had a large yummilicious pepperoni pizza. Too much food, but boy was it good!
-
Then I went to the mail place at four o'clock and the damn Ontrac still hadn't been there - another call tomorrow afternoon they'll be getting. So, I only got one of my two packages. Then I came home and had to put in changes to yesterday's set of liner notes and that packaging is now all finished. Then I had to begin the next set of liner notes and I got halfway through those before having to go over to the rehearsal - very cute number for Thursday's shoot. Then I stopped and got a glazed donut.
-
I joined Angies List today to try and find a Roofer
So, combined with yesterday's conversation, you are in need of a reefer and a roofer
-
And on that note, I'm outa here. To bed!

Well, it's 2:00 AM on the right coast and here I am, back from watching SABOTEUR and TORN CURTAIN and gorging myself on Chinese takeout. We also sampled THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH and found the color fluctuations very pronounced on this system (Panasonic projector). Couldn't remember what the various other reported faults were, but we only looked at a couple of scenes. It did seem that if you turned your mind off to the color stuff, this Blu-ray would at least be the first watchable version we've had in home video.

And with that, I must call it a night.
