Well, you've read the notes, the notes went by in the blink of an eye, and now it is time for you to post until the blinking cows come home.

A bit sluggish after a big meal and drinks last night. I had garlic mushrooms, sirloin steak and fries followed by chocolate ganache (which really I could have done without, being too sweet for my liking). Now off to work.

Good morning, all.

Continued vibes for all in need.

Doug R, I agree that ganache can sometimes be too sweet and I prefer it with as little sugar as possible. But I somehow manage to choke down most anything chocolate without too much effort. (Maybe this is why I need to lose weight?)

So, Hanukkah starts Saturday and once again I'm searching for a low-carb latke variation. Found several recipes made with turnips and another made with a combination of zucchini and radish. Any other thoughts? Potatoes are verboten on my diet and though they are now traditional, they really are a food that came from the Americas about two millennia after the original Hanukkah.

Good morning, all!  I slept well, but I am moving very slowly.

I'm on my first cup of coffee, and I'm trying to finish off my Christmas shopping. I'm down to my three last gifts. I'm not certain yet what they will be.

So, as soon as I have my second cup of coffee, I am off to Toyland, where I will continue the gift question.

I seem to have less and less time at home.   I really need next year to be more relaxed, more time at home in the evenings.   And more sleep, 5 and 6 hours a night just is not enough.

I saw a 6 foot $20.00 coil Christmas tree at Target that fits into a shoe box, maybe that will be my tree this year.
Just need to decide on silver, gold, pink, or blue,   very retro 1970's feel.

Very fun. 8)

Just under six hours of sleep does not cut it.  At least, it's not cutting it this time.  My own fault, of course, for not calling it quits till after two in the a.m., and having to arise at a little after eight.  I shall sneak in a little nap sometime today.

I remember very few birthday presents and none really strike me as over-the-top or brilliant - but cousin Dee Dee took me to Las Vegas for, I think, my 40th, so that was fun and Vegas was still Vegas.

DR Druxy, if you aren't ready for a new cat quite yet, you might consider waiting until after the holidays or until June. Very often we have found that the shelters adopt out cats like crazy before Christmas when lots of folks are wanting someone to cuddle with. But during kitten season, there are LOTS of kittens available, and adult cats don't get adopted because of too much kitten competition.

That's if you are planning on visiting a shelter. (Also, it's a good excuse to wait a while.)

In an attempt to get myself into a holiday mood, I've been running songs through my head:

Fill every stocking with laughter
We haven't got room for any more gloom
Let's ring every bell from it's rafter
And chime cross the land
Tomorrow's at hand
Those happy days that we were promised
Are finally here
We're getting a new deal for Christmas
We're getting a new deal for Christmas
We're getting a new deal for Christmas
We're getting a new deal for Christmas
Christmas
This year

I'm done with "The Voice".

The final four were announced last night and one of the competition's two best singers was sent home, with two of the final four "inexplicably" popular with the public (my take on it).

Only Treven Hunte has a legitimate shot at being "The Voice"....if the competition is based on sheer vocal talent.   The person he should have been matched up with in a finale shootout -- Amanda Brown -- was sent home last night while Nicholas David, Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott joined Hunte.  Either David or Pope should have been sent home instead of Brown (again, IMO).

Without Brown, it's a washout for me.  If Hunte doesn't win, it will be a crying shame.

Back from a really easy and fun shoot with a lot of game actors doing faux auditions.  Johnny Dark was hilarious, so was Barry Pearl, Dan Callaway and all the others.  Can't really say more without giving stuff away.  We wrapped an hour early, so that was nice, too.

Because it plays seamlessly as it does in the film.  Source means music coming from a radio or some source - we separated out the one source cue because Mr. Newman didn't compose it.

So, I went off to bell choir practice at church tonight and was greeted with a locked door. It was quickly opened by the choir director, who informed me that there had been a shooting in the neighborhood. Two people had been shot and the gunman was on the loose. Needless to say, it made for a short and tense rehearsal.

So, just before Advent service, a couple of armed police officers came in to the church to have a look around. They left just as the service was starting.

After the service, I walked a friend to her car because we had no idea what had happened in the intervening hour. As we reached her car, we heard a "Pop, pop, pop" series coming from the apartment complex, which was in the opposite direction of the church from the area in which the shooting had first occurred. Then a short silence followed by another round of pops.

One police car and one unmarked car pulled up immediately in front of the apartment complex and the drivers got out, but no lights were turned on.

I walked to my car and drove past, but haven't any idea if the gunman's been caught or not.

Here's the only news story I found:

San Antonio police and the San Antonio Fire Department responded to a shooting in the 15000 block of Spring Mist, on the city's northeast side.

The call came in at around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.

SAPD says a 48-year-old Asian male shot two people. Police are searching for the suspect who was last seen leaving the location just west of Nacogdoches, between O'Connor and Judson.

Witnesses said the suspect appeared to be covered in blood.

I've written half of a third set of liner notes.  It's so hard to do three in a row like this, but we're now hoping we can get three titles approved before everyone leaves for Christmas vacation.  If we can, then I'd have my first release of 2013, too, which would be great.

Last night, a group of friends and I went to see "Reservoir Dogs" on the big screen!  I hadn't seen it before, but since Theater Artists Olympia will be doing a stage adaptation in April, I thought that I should join the gang and see what it's all about.  Only a couple of other people (our of our group of about 12) hadn't seen it, either.  Everyone else had, and most, not in a theater.  Pretty much everyone loved it.  It was violent, but I only see it as movie violence...what ususally goes through my mind is how well (or not) the special effects are. ;)

After that, most of us went out to a local pizza place for a late dinner.  I had a calzone with pepperoni, pineapple and cashews (which is also my favorite kind of pizza) and it was delish!  I should've saved half of it for dinner tonight, but I just couldn't stop.

I don't watch this show, but my mom also mentioned to me that she could not believe that all the good people were getting voted out. Although she says there is one person she thinks is talented and loves. It's a girl who she says is really pretty. I'm not sure if only one person on your list is female.

My niece was very excited that someone else in her class celebrates Chanukah.  So I asked which one of the girl's parents was Jewish. And she thinks neither.  Is that common for a family to celebrate a holiday like this? She said she thinks they are from England.

I know a small number of Christian families who celebrate Hanukkah because of the miracle at the center of the story. They may not do it for eight nights, but they light a menorah and eat fried foods and chocolate gelt.

Last night caught the last 15 minutes or so of Taxi Driver. I knew what was going to happen, but I forgot how violent it was and was somewhat jarring. Blood color was toned down originally so not to get an X rating. For the blu-ray release they tried to final the original negative to make it more red but the footage was missing. It is still a very potent film all these years later.

Vixmom, I can easily relate to your sense of practicality, but some people feel that "practical" gifts are a bit insulting, that gifts should be a splurge. I wonder if this client has observed how hard you work and wanted to treat you to something you wouldn't buy yourself. (Well, he was right there!)

Michael Kors is indeed a very popular designer these days. I bought myself a Michael Kors handbag a couple years ago after much shopping. It was actually a good value. And I am NOT a trendy type.

So great to hear this... congrats!!
