Well, you've read the notes, the notes were birthday-like, and now it is time for you to post until the birthday cows come home.

Happiest of Birthdays to MR BK.....according the Chinese Astrology your dominant element is Fire and your dominant animal is the Pig.

You know how to enjoy life and happiness is your most constant state of mind.  You are in the 5th year of your second 60-year cycle and can expect many changes to happen - if you make them happen.  They have been brewing since 2008, and you are now ready to put them into action.  Others will now begin to see things your way.

Your qi is yin - autumn is your best time of year.

Have only a small slice of cake!

Third:

TOD

I agree with you. I don't think I can name one comedy.

no one today can ever touch a Mel Brooks, Woody Allen, Albert Brooks, Blake Edwards, Preston Sturges, Billy Wilder (and you can add your own names) at their best (or worst). They are all writer/directors (not sure about Sturges without looking things up)

In an hour or so I have to drive into deepest darkest Connecticut to donate a few things to a friend of a friend's new secondhand bookstore that's opening up today.

I wish I'd known last year that they were doing this because I shed boxes and boxes of books that were just taking up valuable space -- and the bounty would have really helped to fill their store shelves.  A nice opportunity missed by one year.

That said, whilst driving there and back I shall ruminate upon the TOD which is, deservedly, I guess, a tough one to answer.

Good morning, all! I don't know what happened last night, but I went to bed  around 10:30pm; at 3am I was still wide awake. When the alarm rang at 8, there was no way I was getting out of bed.  Around 9, i got up and a headache began, so I went back to bed. I am now out of bed and facing today's fresh hell. I hope your day, DRs, is a lot more fun than mine has been so far!

Today's special but I cannot remember what's going on. It will come back to me.

So, I may make a trek to the market. Now that I have this great new stove and fridge, I'm really enjoying cooking up huge amounts of soup. I think this round will be chicken.

I just thought of it, but it's gone again.  I guess I was all caught up in thoughts about the chicken soup.

I will try to get through the Act Two libretto of DEAREST ENEMY as well today. I have a big fix to make in the "Yankee Doodle" sequence first.

And so, to work. Coffee and aspirin first.

I just finished meeting a dog me might adopt.

It's a 3 year old golden lab mix that these folks have had since it was a pup.

Taking it slow.  We're going to see it again next week (with the owners not around) before we make a decision.

My timing at the pool was perfect today and I had the single lane all to myself.

No packages at the mail place, but a surprise royalty check for Album Produced By - normally the book royalty checks are pathetic, but the first one for this book six months ago and now this one are amazing - not thousands of dollars, or even ONE thousand dollars, but very healthy and certainly between this check and the other one I've made more on this book than all the others put together.

I am trying to go through pictures of my nieces from the past year so I can make a calendar for my sister, and one for my parents. I realized I have not taken as many pictures this year. Especially not that many of the two of them together (it is just hard to get a perfect pose for two kids in the same pic). So for the past few days i have been trying to take pictures of them together.

Got to judge a burger competition today, which was fun because all of the entries were good. It made judging hard. It came down to a finely ground Kobe burger (as we found out later) with blue cheese on top with a grainy bun vs. a coarsely ground burger with sriracha sauce adding spice plus some black pepper, a little garlic salt and a nice slab of cheddar on buttered toast. The latter won after some good discussion.

Then we went to a nearby Hill Country resort where they were playing up the holidays big time. Got to decorate a gingerbread man and we watched the skaters on the outdoor rink that had been set up and drank the best hot chocolate I've had in years, all molten chocolate and heavy cream.

Wishing the nicest of natal days to the perennial youthful and svelte Bruce.
Today we celebrated your birthday in our new Upper West Side apartment with a birthday party for our Adelaide who turned one about ten days ago.

If only I could remember how to post a photo, I would.

I tried with Chanukah stars on their heads.

I tried with Christmas hats.

I think I have some that are workable. Thank goodness!

That was too long DR TCB.  I hope you had fun.

TCB, you didn't really expect to hold up for a full day, did you? That is a lot to expect. I hope you can gradually do more and more--comfortably.

The twelve hour event was not my idea, but since I didn't drive, I had very little say in the matter.

Then it was on to Genghis Cohen with helper Heather, the Staitman family and Jenna Rosen and mom Heater.  The food was glorious, the company was great, and it was a perfect birthday evening.  The Facebook wishes were slightly overwhelming today but I saw each and every one - there was one person who was conspicuous by her absence, which is interesting as she professed she would like to get her family's friendship back on track after the first of the year - this, of course, insures that that will not be happening.

Congratulations, BK!

I've been listening to the "Scrooge" soundtrack that I made from the laserdisc.  It sounds pretty good (at least, good enough for me).  That's a recording that's never been released on CD.  I wonder if it's something that Kritzerland could release.  It's a great score.
