And the word of the day is: INCEPTION!
Happy New Year Dear Elmore! You were missed!!
And it's not a wild thing, just a nice gathering with a diverse selection of people coming and going till about 7:00 or 8:00 at which time it will come to a nice dignified close and we'll all get home at a decent hour. And that, DRs, shall be my day.
Best of luck with beginning the new book, bk.
Here is my sister-in-law Jayne leading the 1978 Tournament of Roses Parade:Wow! This is the closest I've ever been to knowing anyone who was in any parade!

And the word of the day is: INCEPTION!
I just finished making a batch of my Whole-Bulb-Of-Garlic dip. The original recipe included four bulbs of garlic but I've cut it down over the years. It packs a punch but I often get request for it.Sounds good. And healthy.
My New Years dinner is cooking as we speak. The same but different--pork and Sauerkraut but this year I'm trying it the way my niece Marie makes hers. Mine was just Sauerkraut and pork with some brown sugar. Marie said she does the same but adds beer, sliced apples and onions. I'm giving it a try in my slow cooker. I will let you know how it tastes later.
I did not make it to midnight last night. In fact, I was in bed by 8pm. I have had a bad cold the last two days, so going to bed early seemed like the healthy choice.Watched Black Widow on Sunday. Wasn't it fun?
Of course, I woke up at 4 am...so, got up and watched a movie I had DVR'ed called BLACK WIDOW starring Van Heflin, Gene Tierney, Ginger Rogers, and Peggy Ann Garner. Afterwards I went back to bed.
Today I will likely sit around and watch some old movies unless I start to feel better, in which case I will do some laundry and possibly a little bit of much needed house-cleaning.
Good morning, all.
Happy New Year and richest blessings for all of 2013. (And may your fingers get used to writing 2013 when it comes to writing checks.)
TOD:
Since January 1st is also my wife's birthday, we will be going out to dinner.
On Thursday, we pick up Chester, our new dog.
Omar Sharif is so pretty

Liven up that party with a cherpumple!
I was trying to decide what to read as my first read of the year. I wanted it to be something really good. I decided on Lisa Gardner' new book Touch & Go that comes out next month.
Ditto to both.TOD:

Congratulations on the new child, DR Druxy. And Happy Birthday to Mrs. Druxy.

So you won't be reading anything until February?
I saw Les Miserables today. I enjoyed it overall, but was disappointed in the singing of many of the actors. While I enjoyed Hugh Jackman in The Boy from Oz and his "one-man show," I really didn't care for his vocals. I was embarrassed for him during "Bring Him Home."

Why would anyone purposefully make fish sticks?
No fish sticks were in attendance when I met your mother.
25 pages!!!
Congratulations to HHW and MR BK and all of the posters!!!

I stayed about 3 hours or so. In her words she's not doing "great" she's doing very good and is getting better all the time. She won't be doing great until she can walk out and go home. That should be in a couple weeks. We talked and talked and talked. It was really fun.
It's been great. Interestingly every day since I didn't get the judicial position, I've run into one of my clients who has gone out of his or her way to tell me thank you. It's been so cool and makes me thankful I didn't get the job and can continue doing what I'm doing
I started watching Downton Abbey last night. I'm starting with episode 1 of season 1. Maybe if I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow I'll do a marathon

Thank you, DR vixmom! I'm happy that I gave BK the chance to increase the number of posts by kicking me around most of the evening.

It is freezing here this morning. Not literally. I guess my blood has thinned because the 50s now seem cold to me. I usually spend New Year's Day getting organized for the new year. That's what I shall work on today. Then take a walk in the afternoon.
I don't recall ever going to a movie on New Year's Day, but that sounds like a very good plan to me.

Getting ready to go see "Jack Reacher" this afternoon. Don't like the fact that Tom Cruise is in it, but the sounds of Werner Herzog as the villain is proving to be the real draw here.
My dinner turned out really good. It was always so sour but it was sweet this time. I never thought to add apples and onions but there really helped with the flavors. I will have to enter it in my Cook'n program so I'll have it for next year!
I hope everyone had a great day!
Gotta go back to work tomorrow. Ugh. But at least it's a short week! :)

Well if you decide you like it the new season starts this Sunday (I believe) on PBS.

:) Did you get to watch the parade in person?

I guess it was left over cuts of roasts put it worked fine as it was all boneless.
what cut of pork do you use?
My parents took me to the Rose Bowl 41 years ago to see Michigan lose to Stanford, but we didn't go to the parade. We did go on Jan. 2 to a city park where the floats were parked and we could see them up close.

I always wanted to go on the 2nd to casually view the floats without freezing all night to do so.

Hi everyone. Happy 2013!!!Happy 2013, Matthew.
Are pork and sauerkraut a common US New Year's meal? I have never had this combination. And have seen people mention it here and on facebook.Cabbage is a tradition. And what better way to showcase cabbage than pork?
The only place I've seen sauerkraut is at Costco where they serve it as a topping for their hotdogs (i like it there).

'night!
Good evening, vixmom! We can't go on meeting like this.
My sister and I were going to go the movies today (she wants to see "Monsters, Inc." in 3-D), but she decided that she didn't want to leave her house. So, I'm going to go and see if tickets are available for "The Hobbit." I haven't read any of yesterday's posts after my last one, so I've got more than 20 pages to ketchup with when I get back. ;)
