Well, you've read the notes, the notes got the days straight, and now it is time for you to post until the straight cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: COUTHIE!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all.
My, I'm an early one today.
-
Got up and opened the blinds facing the little hill at the rear of the house, thinking, Oy!, I know there's no snow in the forecast but what a dark overcast day it looks like so far. Then I walked across the room and opened the ones facing where the sun comes up and was greeted by the most intense red start of sunrise, the likes of which I rarely get to see and appreciate around here. Those moments are always so fleeting, but it just happened my camera was lying close by, and I grabbed it, and ladies and gentlemen, I SEIZED that moment and got what I hope will be a down and dirty snapshot that does some justice to that sky. Well, we'll see.
-
Friday. A good day for it to be.
-
That there Hedgehog thingy does sound mighty good.
-
good morning to all
-
Friday. A good day for it to be.
Oh yes. I second that.
-
i am still transferring my old lps to mp3. This is done in "real time" so i've been listening to a lot of albums that haven't been transferred to cds
-
;D
-
Good morning everyone.
It's cold. I will remember these days when it's 100 degrees at work this summer.
-
Time to make my lunch and go to work, short week only 3 days, back to normal next week.
Have a great Friday.
Mega vibes for everyone.
:)
-
Good morning, all.
Weekend vibes for those in need. Though, with the holiday, it hardly feels like Friday.

TOD:
DVD -- Sparkle, Cole Porter's Aladdin
CD/MP3: Eileen, Now.Here.This.
Car CD: Robert Crais' Taken.

Good morning, all! I slept late and, once I get moving, I need to do some banking first thing. I've also got a trip to the post office. After that, the day gets easier: wrapping a few late Christmas gifts, working on my taxes.
Tonight, I'm having dinner in midtown with my friend Bruce Pomahac, whose gift still hasn't arrived from Amazon.co.uk.
Things are exciting on the castrecordinglist: two of my least favorite posters, both arrogant fools, are engaged in ugly duel. I suppose the bigger fool deserves it because he continually pulls an "I'm leaving this group" whenever his nose is out of joint, yet he always comes back to post more stupidity; he's living proof that a lot of working critics are complete fools, legends in their own minds, but completely clueless. For a working music critic, he's the stupidest man I've ever encountered. I can't wait for round two.
And so to work.
-
Anthony is about to do the laundry. I'm slaving away at work. We will reconnoiter at lunch. I'm listening to
Desmond Carrington (http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01pf0fz/Desmond_Carrington_The_Music_Goes_Round_28_12_2012/)
right now. During my time off I often miss most of my BBC shows. Thanks to the iPlayer and the office I can now resume my weekly listening habit.

TOD
DVD - "The Best of Sammy Davis Jr Live" from a concert in Germany. I saw Sammy Davis Jr around about 1963 at the London Palladium. He gave an amazing performance which I've never forgotten.
Also been watching a HD TV broadcast of "Rosemary's Baby" which has superb picture quality.

Friday!
TOD:
DVD - some MST3K programs....always funny

I envy that. Since going on decongestants for the cedar pollen, I haven't slept well. The pills are non-drowsy, but that seems to last through the night, too.

TOD:
I'm expecting 3 titles from Warner Archive, but they might not be here until Monday:
THE HARD WAY
THE MAN I LOVE
THE FRISCO KID
Actually, now that I think of it, if I put those titles in a different order, you might think I had ordered porn movies.
::)

George,
Thanks for posting Chester's picture on this site.

Good Morning
-
The house is up, plenty of moaning and groaning already as to how early it is (7:20!!!)- people can stay home if they want, I say
-
iPod is ready with 7.3 hours of songs that should please almost all of the passengers in the car. And personally, I'm resigned to have an awesome time. I will check in later

Page 2 pancake dance!!

I am back from bank, post office, and Magnolia Bakery with a pumpkin pecan muffin. It's time to work on taxes.

When DR Druxy first told us about Chester, someone said what a perfect name for a dog. And it really is. It would fit on a good many dogs, but being a fairly distinguished name, you would certainly have to find it on a classic English bloodhound, perhaps on a dog living on the Rutland estate in MARNIE.
-
Sounds like a fun day, Matthew. Enjoy.

It's also the name of a good hamburger joint here in San Antonio.
-
ChasSmith, if you enjoy The Elegance of the Hedgehog, you might also enjoy Gourmet Rhapsody by the same author. It's a foodie tale with exquisite dribblings about all things gourmet.
-
Nice Filichia on Friday about "The Fig Leaves Are Falling," a show that has always intrigued me because of Allen Sherman's involvement. There had been talk in days gone by and the record label that shall remain nameless of a recording being released. I guess that's a dead issue.
-
Chester is a fine looking Canine DR DRUXY!

After seeing how Rob Ashford can screw up a musical with "How To Succeed, it's nice to learn that he's turning his production of "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" into a musical: http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainment/theater/cat_needs_an_exorcism_WNLojujBRW1WikfFhig8LN

CHESTER-What A Great Name!

I had an Uncle Chester.
Actually, my dad's uncle. But we all knew him as that. And he was definitely a Chester.

He has Robert Mitchum eyes.

TOD:
Turntable - an old favorite I haven't spun in years, THE TWILIGHT ZONE, Vols. 1 through 5, with an executive producer whose name sounds vaguely familiar
BLU - THE TWILIGHT ZONE (are you detecting a pattern here?)
Also, BELOVED INFIDEL which I didn't finish up last night. And I'm now waiting on a nice shipment of the UK Jacques Tati BLUs.

MR BK - I didn't realize that Jackie Joseph was an LACC alumnus! Here is her latest column talking about her year......

I ordered some Japanese SCI FI and they arrived today:
Ultraman - the complete series, only $6.99
Daimajin - a triple feature for only $10.99
Godzilla vs Biollante - only $7.99
The last two in BLU RAY with extras....original Japanese dialog and English subtitles OR English dubs, etc.
Mushi mushi.....

I'm up, I'm up. Once again I was up at five, turned on the heat, and fell back asleep at six and slept until just before ten.
-
Had the telephonic conversation and it was a good one.

Going back to see THE MUSICAL OF MUSICALS: THE MUSICAL tonight, its last weekend. I liked the show just fine for the most part, but the four people doing it (five, actually, in this one; they aren't sharing piano duties as was done originally) are just brilliant and need to be seen again.
-
They're here! The UK Blu-rays are here, and in record time -- six days from shipment, and that includes a weekend and a holiday. Would that life could be like this all the time.

I've been thinking about you this morning, Vixmom. I hope you test went well and they give you good results today.

Yes indeed - good test vibes for DR VIXMOM.
DR ELMORE that link about CAT is pretty scary. How the heck do these people keep getting work?

I'm glad it worked, Druxy. :)

I wish I knew, Jack! We'd be stars!
I do think Ashford is really overrated. I got tired of prancing chorus boys interrrupting "Grand Old Ivy." It's like he can't stage a duet without believing adding a lot of bouncing boys will only im[prove the number. He's not very good but he works. Same with Scott Ellis.

Still on Page 2? I guess the holiday is over.

Back from banking, a sandwich and no fries and ready to write. I spent most of the morning finessing and futzing with yesterday's writing - many little changes and additions and deletions and now I'm ready for new pages.

I've done about eight pages of new material today. Changed the first name of a character, and am just about to end chapter three. This little section is tricky as the main point of the plot kicks in here and I have to do it just right.
-
So, I"ll now get ready for rehearsal, and then I'll probably do another two or three pages after that, so I can get a couple of pages into chapter four.

I'm about half way through the 2nd act of my 1 person Basil Rathbone play.
Also at a tricky point.

Last night we watched THE MAJESTIC. I forgot what a wonderful movie it is.
-
Hello, everyone.
Glad BK liked THE HEDGEHOG. I couldn't imagine him not liking it. It's a perfect little gem, in my view.
BTW, Garance Le Guillermic, the actress who plays the 11-year-old, is also in TO ROME WITH LOVE, the new Woody Allen film.
-
Yes, DD Chester is a handsome fellow. I mentioned the other day that I liked the name. It's a name with character. Plus, it's known to most people, easy to say and spell, and yet not common.
-
DR Druxy it really isn't that difficult to change a pet's name. When I think of all the nicknames our dogs & cats had I also remember they answered to every single one of their names. :)

DR Matthew, I think you have a very good attitude toward something that for many of us would be uncomfortable. I'm sure it'll work out fine.

Writing vibes to BK and Druxy (and anyone else who needs them).

No little kittens or puppies vibes to Vixmom--nothing that shouldn't be there.

After such a lame joke, I'll say TTFN.

Happy Friday!

Elmore - have you seen Golden Boy?
No, DR vixmom, I haven't.
I am home, obviously!

I need to read 60 pages a day to finish THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES by Monday. I plan to do this without reading the tiny paperback with the small light print at night.
The book begins in the future, in January of 1999 :)

Well, I must be off. I'm ushering tonight for Broadway’s Next Hit Musical (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/upcoming-events/2013/1/4/broadways-next-hit-musical.html)! ;D
Every song is fresh. Every scene is new. Every night is different. It’s all improvised and it’s all funny.
The hysterical Broadway’s Next H!T Musical is the only unscripted theatrical awards show. Master improvisers gather made up, hit song suggestions from the audience and create a spontaneous evening of music, humor, and laughter. The audience votes for their favorite song and watches as the cast turns it into a full blown improvised musical - complete with memorable characters, witty dialogue, and plot twists galore. BNHM has been seen recently at The Triad, Tribeca Film Festival, and at the New York Musical Theater Festival, among many others.
Sounds like it's going to be great (at least, I hope it will be). They're doing two performances, one tonight and one tomorrow night, and I'm ushering for both. AND since I'm ushering and not working concessions, I'll actually get to see all of both performances. :D
Be back later!

Sorry, TCB. I've turned on Aladdin. Highly enjoyable Cole Porter songs, Sal Mineo, Cyril Ritchard, Basil Rathbone and Dennis King.

I ordered some Japanese SCI FI and they arrived today:
Ultraman - the complete series, only $6.99
Daimajin - a triple feature for only $10.99
Godzilla vs Biollante - only $7.99
The last two in BLU RAY with extras....original Japanese dialog and English subtitles OR English dubs, etc.
Mushi mushi.....
Good choices, DR JRand! Love those Daimajin movies!!

DD Chester looks like a wonderful new addition!!

Watched half a motion picture, then wrote more pages - I seem to be keeping pace with twelve a day - very unusual for fiction. I wrote more than that on the two non-fiction books, because non-fiction just goes faster for me since I'm not making things up as I am with fiction. Since I don't really outline, other than copious notes about things I want to include, I do have to stop and figure things out as I go - that's the fun of it for me, frankly. Back in the Kritzer books days I was so happy to do three pages in one day, but by the time of the third Kritzer book I was doing five to seven steadily.
