GREAT NEWS!! ;D
Great news about Sharon!
Larry, vibes for your shoulder. I hope the other illness is over.
And the word of the day is: BURGESS!
For those who have seen Zero Dark Thirty, I have a serious question. It seemed to me that Jessica Chastain's character was very one dimensional and it seemed that she really just played one emotion the whole time. Now, maybe I'm not giving her enough credit or maybe that's harder to do that I think it is, but I'm surprised she's favored for Best Actress in a Drama. I'm curious about what others think who know more about such things than I do

It's the kind of performance actors today love and that's who do the nominating. The entire Academy will vote on the five, but only the actors nominate.
No relation to Lloyd Thaxton, who I met at some point.
Glad you're Ipad still works, Ginny. It's been great fun reading the updates of your trip!
I just watched the 1956 BLOOMER GIRL broadcast. What a great cast! Next up, the new British DVD release of THE UNINVITED, one of my favorite ghost movies and novels.Love that telecast, even though the book is so truncated. Barbara Cook is great.
I've sent emails to the recording producer about recording dates in September for Dublin, rather than September.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vibes for BK, who appears to need a few at the moment! ~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's been a day to do the laundry and generally tidying and cleaning.

OK - am I the only one that doesn't understand this?
DR VIXMOM it appears DR ELMORE is going to Dublin in September instead of September.

I'm trying to find Joshie! He owes me a phone call.
Of course, it was overcooked. Jennifer didn't like the look of the rare one.
Remember I said earlier that we were being treated royally here at Norwich Cathedral? Well, we learned yesterday that our host, Canon Jeremy, has been appointed Chaplain to Her Majesty the Queen. He's one of 30 and it's quite an honor.
Matthew, your positive attitude should get you through whatever fresh hell (a Larry Moore reference) is brought to your door!

I am getting ready to watch the Red Carpet on E! It is on from six to eight Eastern. The Golden Globes are on 8-11 pm eastern on NBC. So if they are on live then 5pm for West Coast. Is anyone sure they are live everywhere?
I don't know where we're going to celebrate my 60th. I'm thinking of all sorts of places but England is at the top of the list. I haven't been in 10 years. Perhaps a guided (Perillo) tour of Italy since my husband is Italian. Hawaii is just too far away and too many planes and flights. If we lived in California I might consider it more seriously. I would love to go back to Dublin but I have a while to think about it and check out prices. We shall see.
DR Cilla, that is very sad about Bella. Thank goodness you were able to catch the FB post in time.
Thanks all for the condolences for Bella. My brother in law takes it exceedingly hard, as many of us can relate to. Bella did have a very good 13 years, and was very loved. The still have 3 other dogs, but that doesn't make it easier
Lesson for today: When you drop your iPad Mini in a medieval cathedral, the floor wins. Fortunately, it still works, but it's like driving with a cracked windshield. Glad my Christmas present included Apple Care.

Many of us sure take it hard and can relate. The shock of finding a pet without warning is something I hope never to experience.
Ok, time to take the last load out of the dryer and go to flute choir practice, be back for the globes
Garage door is fixed - needed new springs, new gears, and one bearing. It hadn't been attended to since 1994! I will, of course, send the business manager the bill.

Oh I agree, although it wouldn't carry the guilt of putting an animal to sleep.
Oh good grief, their idea of showing a dress is to scan down the person from head to toe instead of showing the whole body at once. Yikes
Well that's true. She had some heart trouble. Jon thinks that might be what happenedThanks all for the condolences for Bella. My brother in law takes it exceedingly hard, as many of us can relate to. I might feel guilty I had missed something wrong that could have been treated.

I totally forgot! :o I went out to eat after ushering for a live, filmed performance of "Aida" and just got home about 45 minutes ago. It was an outdoor production with real horses and elephants(!) during some of the processions. It was very good...even though you could see both Amneris and Aida's very white bra straps throughout the opera AND the ballet girls all danced in silver sneakers. No kidding!

The Golden Globes is repeated at 8 p.m.
THE UNINVITED was wonderful as ever, except my DVD has some problems just after Ray Milland throwsthe candelabra at Mary Meredith's spirit. I thinkit's easier to order a second copy from Amazon.co.uk rather than try to return it.
Wow, Jodie said everythng she ever wanted to say to everyone.

I'm really glad Argo won. It's been my pleasure to keep you informed as the evening progressed. You didn't miss a thing by not watching.

this is what I made last year
Ingredients:
2 1/2 lb. lean chuck, ground
1 lb. lean pork, ground
4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 cup finely chopped onion
8 oz. hunt's tomato sauce
1 cup water
1 can beer (12 oz.)
3 Tablespoons chili powder
2 Tablespoons instant beef bouillon (or 6 cubes)
2 Tablespoons cumin, ground
2 teaspoons paprika
2 teaspoons oregano leaves
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon coriander, ground
1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa
1/2 teaspoon Louisiana hot sauce
1 teaspoon cornmeal
1 teaspoon flour
1 teaspoon warm water
Directions:
1. In a large saucepan brown 1 1/4 pounds of the ground meat (the beef and the pork), drain the fat.
2. Remove meat (the beef and the pork). Brown the rest of the ground meat, drain all but 2 tablespoons of the fat.
3. Add the garlic and onion, cook and stir until tender.
4. Add the other half of the meat and the tomato sauce, water, beer, chili powder, bouillon, cumin, paprika, oregano, sugar, coriander, cocoa, and hot sauce. Mix well.
5. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer, covered , for 2 hours.
6. In a small bowl, stir together the cornmeal and flour, then add the warm water and mix well.
7. Stir into chili and cook, covered, for an additional 20 minutes.
