Well, you've read the notes, the notes were all over the map, and now it is time for you to post until the all over the map cows come home.

Wednesday morning greetings!  Another blustery day in London.  We're going to Grosvenor Chapel, Regent Street, and St. Paul's Cathedral.  We were there with our group before we went to Norwich, but we're going back today for afternoon tea and to visit the shop.  We're having company here at the hotel pub this evening ;)

Tragically a helicopter crashed in central London this morning (fortunately not close to where Ginny is staying).  Helicopters have to follow the line of the river but this one hit the top of a crane and fell onto a busy road. No news of casualties yet.

And the word of the day is: INCHMEAL!

Framk Loesser's original lyrics

Inchmeal, inchmeal
Measuring the marigolds
You and your arithmetic
You'll probably go far

Inchmeal, inchmeal
Measuring the marigolds
Seems to me you'd stop and see
How beautiful they are

There's a good four to five inches of snow on my world.  Oy!

What a difference between Manhattan and Connecticut. We have rain (they say it may turn to snow) but no white flakes around here.

DR Ben, my town is right on the line where, in many winter storms, it can go either way...but it usually goes the way of more snow rather than less.  If I lived even ten miles south of here, the winters would be considerably easier.

More coffee, then I must bundle up and venture out there to decide whether it's time to start about an hour of labor with the snow blower.

Good morning, all!

I have a quiet morning followed by meeting an old friend for lunch. I'll tidy the apartment a bit, see if I can accomplish another paragraph on the DEAREST ENEMY notes, and wait for whatever fresh developments pleasant or unpleasant land in my lap.

It is so dark outside!  If I were asked to guess the time based on the sky today, I'd guess 7:30am.

I've got to think about a ticket for Encores! FIORELLO; I wish I liked the show more.

Last night I found myself very tempted to jump into the next Adriana Hofstetter book, which for me is HISTORICAL SOCIETY, but I had already promised myself at least a week's breather in between them so they don't get gobbled up too quickly and run together in my mind.  But I needed something Hollywood-ish, and suddenly remembered this vintage photography site where I'd found a few choice photos in the past.  I spent some time looking at what they have on Hollywood Blvd., and there are some riches there.  Of course it only makes you want more.  But damn it all, it seems the answers to many questions are out there.  You just have to spend some decent time seeking it all out.

I'll share one very wonderful thing, at least to me personally.  I'd been coming up empty in trying to recall the name of the classical music store on the north side of the Boulevard.  Well, bless my soul, it was DeKeyser Music, and there are just a few tiny references to it on the web.  The way I learned it was seeing these photos that show Phil Harris Records.  Lo and behold, to the left of Phil Harris was the "Artisan Patio Shops" (a little old arcade), and what do I see to the left of that but the name of the music store.  I nearly jumped out of my chair.

Here are the three pictures that show Phil Harris, with the music store name seen in the aerial shot.  This site is very protective of its stuff and blocks the downloading of images, so if these links fail to work, I can repost them CinemaScope style.

When you look half way down your page there is the option to set your goodreads goal for the year. Then it keeps track. But as long as you are marking the date you finish books you shoulld be able to check.

I can't get it to show them in reverse date order so it takes to long to get to the end of my books read list.

I've set my goal to 150 and it says at the pace I'm going I'm one book behind schedule.  If I could count my half read Les Miserable I would be on schedule ;)  As of now I've read 5 books.  It will be interesting to see if I reach my goal.  Thank for encouraging me to do this.

We made our way to Grosvenor Chapel today and recreated the scene that's depicted in the painting I gave Richard for Christmas. We were glad to be off the beaten tourist path for a while.  Found a delightful Mayfair coffee shop for a refreshment stop, then made our way to Regent Street, where we window-shopped and picked up our on/off bus and rode to St. Paul's.  After shopping in the Cathedral shop, we had a lovely afternoon tea.

Now that you've set that up whenever you want to know what books you've read in 2013 you can just go half way down your goodreads page and click on books read.  I find it very helpful.

I am back from lunch with my friend Peter Clem, whom I've known since a summer theatre production of GYPSY about 40 yesrs ago. When I moved to NYC, Peter got we working with him and two friends on a cabaret act that led to my becoming staff arranger for the New York City Gay Men's Chorus. at one point, during my six-month search for an apartment, Peter rented me his home office space for a bedroom and we were roommates for about six t eight weeks.

I hadn't seen him in about two years so it was fun to catch up.

Oliver Cromwell lay buried and dead
Hee haw, buried and dead
There grew an old apple tree over his head
Hee haw,, over his head
The apples were ripe and ready to fall
Hee haw, ready to fall
There came an oldwoman to gather them all
Hee haw, gather them all
Oliver rose and gave her a drop
Hee haw, gave her a drop
Which made the old woman go hippity hop
Hee haw, hippity hop
The saddle and bridle, they lay on the shelf
Hee haw, lay on the shelf
If you want any more, you can sing it yourself
Hee haw, sing it yourself!

Tragically a helicopter crashed in central London this morning (fortunately not close to where Ginny is staying).  Helicopters have to follow the line of the river but this one hit the top of a crane and fell onto a busy road. No news of casualties yet.

Good morning, all.

There's a good four to five inches of snow on my world.  Oy!

What a difference between Manhattan and Connecticut. We have rain (they say it may turn to snow) but no white flakes around here.

no white stuff on LI either

I am back from lunch with my friend Peter Clem, whom I've known since a summer theatre production of GYPSY about 40 yesrs ago. When I moved to NYC, Peter got we working with him and two friends on a cabaret act that led to my becoming staff arranger for the New York City Gay Men's Chorus. at one point, during my six-month search for an apartment, Peter rented me his home office space for a bedroom and we were roommates for about six t eight weeks.

I hadn't seen him in about two years so it was fun to catch up.

I am glad you had a nice catch up

Sadly, two people died (including the pilot) and 13 have been injured.  Awful news, but still a miracle that more were not hurt given that it was during the rush hour and in the middle of London

Made it through the school day.  Now on to youth choir, then I'm so excited that I get to revisit Legally Blonde tonight.  Playing the pit again.  It'll be a lot of fun to play the show instead of having to worry about what's happening on the stage or in the pit.  Looking forward to visiting an old friend.

I am going to watch CROMWELL on TCM this afternoon.  I always get a little murky on my English history around that time - so i am sure they way to clear that up is to watch a movie about it.
That's how I get most of my history, from movies and musicals. I'd know nothing about U.S. history if it weren't for "1776" and "Assassins."

LOL!  But I thought I knew some factual info from "1776" that got me in trouble with Mrs. Sibener in history class, where Peter Stone had made stuff up.  Like the saying goes, the fact that they're singing and dancing should have  clued me in that it's not a documentary. :)

The new deli that will be in Junior's old space will be called Lenny's, a good Jewish name, IMHO.

There was a Lenny's in Pacific Palisades, but I don't know if this one is related. I believe that Lenny's was bought by someone with little restaurant experience, which may account for the not-so-great reviews. I'm happy to give the new Lenny's a try.

Had a nice work session with Juliana.  Someone stopped by to pay a visit, but saw all these cars parked in front, all of which belong to the ASSES across the street and yes that means YOU Annette Funicello's daughter, so she thought I had a lot of people over and didn't stop.  Wish she would have called - the mother Staitman and daughter Sarah.

Hope no parents complain about the content the way they did with "All Shook Up" recently.

It wasn't All Shook Up, unless something else happened. A teacher was fired, after the fact, for staging

Legally Blonde (http://www.blackbookmag.com/legally-blonde-high-school-production-gets-teacher-fired-1.56250)
I think we're both right. I'd forgotten the Legally Blonde story. The All Shook Up story was recently in Utah.

Last night as I was brushing my teeth, my new crown popped out of my mouth and nearly went down the drain.   My mouth didn't hurt, so I put the crown in a safe place and went to bed  THis morning it was reseated, so it's in and doing fine. My dentist was so upset with herself.  The nice thing is she did this for free and said if it comes out again she will do it a different way, have a new crown made and put it in all for free.   I wasn't even upset about it happening (things happen) but it was nice to hear she's willing to make it right

I have missed playing with talented high schoolers.  Their innocence and ignorance can be quite amusing.  The adults have their own banter going that goes right over most of their heads.  It's also humbling in some ways.  I miss it.  I'm playing another high school show in March, it keeps you young.
