Well, you've read the notes, the notes had words, words, and more words, and now it is time for you to post until the wordy cows come home.

Yesterday at work was the monthly cut-off to pay invoices and I had our Amazon invoice to pay.  It was actually two months worth because it didn't arrive in time last month to be paid, but I got it all done yesterday.  After work, I went to my sister's and visited with my cousin and his wife before they leave to go back home in the morning.  He had a job interview in Portland and he hopes to eventually move to Olympia!  I don't know if this job is what'll get him up here, but I think it's a step closer.

Today, I need to compile the report for the business office of everything that is to be paid for this month.  I have to make sure that I have an actual paper copy of every invoice that's on the report and that everything that's on the report is actually what is supposed to be paid.  I have to check every single invoice and there will probably be more than 500 invoices this month. :P It's time consuming, but at least it's easy to do.

Tonight after work, I'm ushering for the tour of Rock of Ages.  I've never seen the movie and the music doesn't interest me, but I'm sure that I'll actually enjoy it because I love live theater...even if I'm not initially interested in it. ;)

Good morning, all.

I was up before the wordy cows this morning.  Well, not so much up as awake.  Like, starting at 4:20 AM?  Whassup with that??  But all seemed to be well, it was just kind of a tossy and turny night, and I eventually got a few little snatches of sleep.  But at 7:00 I gave up and got up.  What are you gonna do?

BK, I didn't care all that much for the first episode of season three for many of the same reasons you mention. But I was wondering do you think Shirley MacLaine might have been directed to be purposefully off, her character presented as someone whose rhythm is definitely out of sync with the rhythm of Downton? She never really figured out how to communicate with those people, even as she helped them with the dinner, etc.

My phone (and broadband) was down this morning. The phone company said there was a problem at the exchange. It took about 4 hours for the line to come back on. I wonder if the exchange problem is connected with the intermittent problem I've been having over the past two weeks with my broadband connection.

The "kooky" girl persona of the 1950's that several actresses adopted was too much for me and Shirley was the "kookiest".....so I like the idea of Shirley MacLaine more than the actuality of her.

However I do like several of her performances, most already mentioned:

I Love Paris, C'est Magnifique and It's All Right With Me were probably the biggest hits, but I Am in Love is one of those gorgeous Porter songs of pure purple passion ("For I am wildly in love with you/And so in need of a stampede of love.") Allez-Vous En, the title song and the ballets all have good music and some fun lyrics.

Interesting about Can Can, this revision of which I saw in Pasadena in 2007.  Lots of announcements like these are made every year - whether it comes to fruition is another story.  I believe Broadway is still waiting for Ray, another Playhouse production from years ago, which seems to be announced for Broadway every single year.

JohnG, I suppose you could be right about Shirley MacLaine, and frankly it may just be in the writing, since her little quips are very similar to Maggie Smith's little quips - she may be purposely choosing to play against them so she's not like a clone.

I MD'd Legally Blonde last fall.  I had a good time.  The score is a bitch - sorry for the language - and in the show, I only played a little and the second keyboard part is basically the rehearsal piano book.  Well, I can fake my way through a rehearsal fine, but actually having to play the key 2 part is kicking my butt again.  What show are you doing?

I finessed, futzed and fixed, and have written four new pages.  I'll probably do two or three more before visits begin, but for now I'm taking a little break.  And frankly, since I'm in a sequence that is not that hard to write, I may just wait until later to do the rest of the pages, although that would mean six or seven at once.  We'll see how I feel in a half-hour or so.

When I went to take my car out of the garage I was rather astonished to find the garage door open.  Very unnerving.  I'm quite sure I closed it last night, as I'm very careful about that kind of thing.  This was the first instance of something like this in the last eight years.  So, my feeling is someone was on the same frequency or something and if I had to hazard a guess, and I hope I'm wrong, perhaps it's my idiot neighbors who've recently redone their home and garage.  I hope that I AM wrong and hope it was just a one-off.  I have no idea how long it was open - my car was there, obviously, and nothing was missing.  I have a ton of old and somewhat high-end electronics in the garage and that's the first thing any thief would go for.

Funeral Home said "female vocalist is requested" so, I got on the phone, called the first person on my list and secured them.  Then to call the family and find out that under no circumstances did they want anyone that sounded like "they should be in an Opera" - so I had to cancel the singer.  Who knew they wanted a Joan Baez type?  Never had to deal with that before.

And these are the days of my lives....

That's not an Ave Maria.  It's an Oy Maria.

DR Matthew:  The high school musical is BARNUM in late April.  Sadly (I think), I just heard that the school has decided not to build out the stage and include the orchestra onstage as called for.  They'll be in the pit as usual, and I guess that means the two pianos as well.  I'm playing one and the conductor, as it stands now, is covering the other.

What I'm doing first is ADRIFT IN MACAO in community theater, in which the director is also MD-ing, but had invited me to play either Keyboard 2 (synth) or Keyboard 1 (piano/conductor), and it looks like I'll be doing the latter.  If that sounds confusing ... that's because it is.

Nice - I have that recording of "Adrift in Macao" - I should listen to it.

I'm not a fan of Cy Coleman, but I am a fan of anything written FOR two pianos.  I would practice FOREVER if am ever asked to play one of the two pianos in the "No No Nannette" - those arrangements are awesome but there are a LOT of notes!

Still no arrival.  I'm going to get very ornery in a minute, because I didn't eat today thinking I'd be supping around four-thirty.

A lady was stabbed in a Bed Bath And Beyond Store? I wonder what provoked that?

If it was an employee it may be ruled justifiable homicide

Well the Vixte and I went out to dinner last night - I had  lobster bisque followed by  pot stickers.  Delicious - however and I had not eaten all day and I am afraid the meal was quite rich

I am afraid that  the end result was that i was unable to rejoin the HHW party last night

i just saw a Volkswagon commercial that made me laugh out loud -  Dad are  tossing a baseball -  the kid throws first - awkwardly  throws wide

dad says  'great-  pointed your shoulder - aimed at your target - you're really improving!"

Then Dad grabs ball and throws back to kid -  just as awkward and wide -  very funny

On the Golden Globes, I was a little shocked to see the actress from GIRLS that won.  I guess I am a fuddy duddy because I was so shocked to see all of her tatoos.  One or two small tatoos I can see on a female, but such large tatoos are going to hurt her carreer when she gets older.
