Well, you've read the notes, the notes lacked a title and yet had a title, and now it is time for you to post until the untitled cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HYPNOPOMPIC!

Friday morning greetings! Thank you, all, for the travel vibes, which have worked beautifully so far. We took the Heathrow Express from Paddington and have checked in, exchanged our currency, and cleared security. We are waiting at our gate and will board in about half an hour.
Ask me how much I'm looking forward to flying with this head cold...

Have a good flight Ginny. It's started snowing where I am so you're getting away just in time! I expect there will be a lot of flight cancellations later in the day. Vibes for head cold to go away!!

Very Happy Birthday to DR CHARLES POGUE!!

TOD:
This week's purchase:

Morning all.
That is all.

Happy Birthday to Mr. Pogue.

Glad to hear you're at the airport Ginny. It sounds like London and England was a successful trip. You're going to England, how would it NOT be successful!?

Oatmeal, pecans, cranberries, cinnamon and coffee.

good morning to all

happy birthday cake day to dr charles pogue

i finally got to see an episode of Dowton Abbey. Up until the moment where it is introduced in a voice over I have been reading it and calling it (and no one correcting me) DownTOWN Abbey.
-
This long weekend will probably be a Waiting for God marathon. We don't have Season 4 because it's out of the library but last night we watched Season 1 and we will probably watch Seasons 2 and 3 this weekend. Perhaps by then Season 4 will be back and then later in the month we can watch Seasons 4 and 5 (the final season). Then it's on the One Foot in the Grave. Good morning, all.
Oy! A couple of crazy dreams that I could have done without, thank you very much.
Coffee is a Dunkin' Donuts K-Cup.

I am trying to wrap my head around the concept (and the execution) of a Cocktail Conference.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DR Charles Pogue!
-
Good morning, all! I managed to drag myself out of bed at 7:00am! This is because I am being visited at 9:00 by my HMO's visiting nurse. The company is recommendina visit once a year, whether or not I need it.
I spent all day yesterday believing it was Friday the 18th, and npw that the day is actually here, I do not know what to do with it! Well, I actually do: I've got work at Toyland and a meeting at 3:00 with the wonderful singer/actor Ben Davis who survived Kenneth Branagh's magical MAGIC FLUTE and Ted Sperling's KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday, DR CharlesPogue !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Snow is covering England now and it's bitterly cold. Heathrow Airport has had to close one of their two runways so I suspect Ginny's flight may have got delayed.
-
It is COLD in Manhattan. It hasn't been this cold for a while.
-
I just saw that Waiting for God Season 4 is available for streaming on Netflix. I may have to try a free membership and then we can watch the entire series after I take Seasons 3 and 5 out of the library.
-
I hope Ginny and Richard got out of Heathrow!
-
Happy Birthday to to DR Charles Pogue!
-
This nurse is running late. She tried to call me from the subway and her message was completely incoherent. Thanks to DR MBarnum, I understand incoherency pretty well, but her message was a total loss. And I believe she is here!
-
Good morning, all.
Travel vibes for Ginny and Richard.
Warmth vibes for all.
-
Happy Birthday, DR CharlesPogue.
-
TOD: Probably not much, given the cocktail conference schedule, except for some Thin Man novellas on CD in the car.
But The Dark Knight Rises is in at the library, and if I have time ...
-
I am trying to wrap my head around the concept (and the execution) of a Cocktail Conference.
Imagine being in my head the morning after, my friend.
Anyway, it's a big old fundraiser for four days in which liquor flows freely. Last night, the group took over the Majestic Theater and had several dozen cocktail stations throughout featuring all sorts of complex and lively libations. As I promised Matthew last night, I will post a few recipes later.
Tonight, we go on river boat cruises through the River Walk area with more libations, followed by an after-hours party with more libations. That goes until 2 a.m.
During the days, which I can attend today because of work, there are bartender competitions with highly coveted prizes for this hand-crafted cocktail world, which is its own subgroup. Also, there are seminars on everything from ice to classic gin cocktails.
-
Hi
-
As usual, I go to post something witty, and my mind escapes me. It's REALLY cold today, and colder in my office. I believe you can hang meat in here. To bad it's going to become a bedroom soon, not my bedroom though. Mwhahaha.....

I really liked Phyllis Hogan, the visiting nurse, and she just left. Now I can get myself ready for the trek to Toyland.

Good Filichia on Friday today about "Golden Boy."
-
Greetings from Toyland! I've rearranged bookshelves and downloaded some Victor Herbert files.
-
I'm up, I'm up, after five hours of sleep. Yes, I did not fall asleep until four-thirty. Too many things in the cranium.

Guess Rob Ashford's talents haven't translated to plays. The reviews of his direction of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" are blistering. (I know, his talents haven't translated to musicals, either.)

DVD: New York Philharmonic COMPANY
DVR: Episodes 1 & 2 of DOWNTON ABBEY

This will be my first absolutely nothing has to be done weekend of the year, so I'm going to be a total couch potato and watch TV all day tomorrow.
-
Sounds like things in England are pretty fierce weather-wise. Lots of snow and stuck people. Hope Ginny and Richard are on a plane!
-
Phyllis Hogan, Visiting Nurse will be the title of my next radio serial.
Early in December, I ordered Volumes 1 & 2 of the Mary Perkins, On Stage comic strip collection. I've heard a lot of high praise about this strip (maybe I heard about it right here at this website) and I've been looking forward to reading it. Unfortunately, Volume 1 sold out of its print-run and I have to wait until they do another printing.

Speaking of that, I wonder how it is for Cathy Rigby to fly with a head cold?

Busy here -- in and out, and trying to get some practice in, too.

TOD:
BETA HIFI VCR - Yes, you read that right: BETA HIFI VCR. Just acquired a nicely refurbished one to look through the couple of dozen old tapes that I stubbornly held onto for lo these many years, to see if there's anything worth salvaging and, if so, to copy it over to DVD. Probably won't be, but I just couldn't throw these out without seeing them again.
BLU - JOUR DE FETE, Tati's first feature film. Got all the main ones now.
-
Finessed, wrote two new pages, and went and had an omelet and a bagel. No packages today.
-
Strange day at work. Don't feel energetic enough to get much done, but surprisingly, I have.
-
Well, the last couple of days have been quite busy for me. The fiscal year roll-over and first month of paying invoices are done and have all gone fairly smoothly! Now, I just need to order things that should've been ordered some time ago. ::) In other words...it's ketchup time!

From Today:
A Very Happy Birthday to Charles Pogue!! ;D
-
I hope Ginny and Richard got out of Heathrow!
~~~Ditto!!~~~
-
I've done seven pages so far - very happy. Four more later, and if I do another two before the Staitmans get here, I'll only have a couple to do later to finish the chapter I'm on. This was a hard chapter, because I have a tiny respite from all she's been doing. I tend to do this in every book but I never remember that I've done it. I figure that before we go into hyperdrive on the last four chapters, a tiny respite is welcome.
Around 2:00pm the office internet went out again. This happened in December and lasted 3-4 days. I hope this doesn't become a regular occurrence.
I had a lovely meeting with my friend Ben Davis. I want him to record the football hero in ROBERTA.
TOD:
Last night I started a British TV series called INJUSTICE. It's written by Anthony Horowitz. Given how brilliant FOYLES' WAR was, I'll gladly watch anything by him. I'm not in love with it, but I've only watched the first episode.
The adaptation of Minette Walters' first novel, THE ICE HOUSE, FINALLY went to DVD about two months ago. I've been watching that for the fifth (?) time. (Had it on tape.) I still think it's brilliant. It was the first time I'd seen Daniel Craig and, even after so many viewings, I still think it's an excellent performance. A really haunting story, too.
I always liked WAITING FOR GOD. Stephanie Cole is, of course, in DOC MARTIN, also.
I LOVE THE GRAND!! Fine withering remarks even without Maggie Smith. And Mark McGann is sooo slimy as the ruthless slumlord. One of my favorite scenes is when the hall porter describes a suspect to police. Great entertainment!
-
The lady in the NJ Beth Bath and Beyond yesterday was stabbed 24 times by a young mental case who should have been locked up: in December he burned to death a cat in a pet carrying case. I suppose they'll plead him insane, but I hope he's put away for a long time. The lady is in serious condition and her baby was unharmed.
It was just on the news. All I'd heard yesterday on the news was that she'd been stabbed and was medivac'd from the mall. Today they showed her husband, who was a mess, and gthe stabber after arraignment.
Well, I'm leaving work for liquid work. Writing a story about it last night was hard. I just wanted to sleep. Or drink some more.
Hi - I'm so annoyed with people that I'm sitting in a Starbucks and surfing the 'net and thinking about getting back to work on the musical I'm suppose to be writing. So far, nothing. I did confirm that I'll be going on a cruise in July with a bunch of theatre people to celebrate the marriage of two wonderful people. Very excited, first cruise for me.
The Vixter and I just watched the DVD of Company -
-
Does anyone know - in the original production did Bobby come back out at the end or did he just vanish not to be seen again (until curtain call) after Being Alive?
-
where the heck IS everyone?
-
Was everyone else invited to Charles birthday party but me?
-
Are you all out eating skyline chili and pies from the House of.....?
-
Is BK wrapping up the latest mystery?
-
Have Ginny & Richrd made it stateside or are they still sitting on the tarmac in snowy old London town?
-
and where did TCB go?
-
and George -- is he out ushering?
-
Ben is watching British TV
-
Elmore is probably sleeping
-
and its me
-
And me
-
Side by side, by side
-
isn't warm? Isn;t it cozy?
-
Did you see the Neil Patrick Harris as Bobby version of Company?
-
The Vixter and I saw it in the movie theatre and quite enjoyed it
-
I never saw a professional version of the show until then
-
I was introduced to it at a college production in the late 70's (78 or 79 I expect) and fell in love with the score
-
I saw it in a amateur production in 1990 and again in 1995. I haven't seen the new video yet.
-
apropos of nothing... the Vixter may have found new employment ... Vibes please - she must meet with the manager again tomorrow at 11 AM EST
-
But it was my introduction to Sondheim. Been a fan ever since.
-
I saw it in a amateur production in 1990 and again in 1995. I haven't seen the new video yet.
I enjoyed it over all
-
I may buy it on iTunes
-
first of all I am a fan of Neil Patrick Harris so there's that
-
I thought for the most part the singing and acting were fine
-
I saw him in "Rent" - front row on a bench in La Jollia. Amazing experience.
-
I thought Stephen Colbert was a bit of stunt casting - he can carry a tune OK but it was a bit of stunt casting in my opinion - it wasn''t that he was bad, more that I didn't think he brought anything special to the role
-
But it was my introduction to Sondheim. Been a fan ever since.
It must have been my intro to Sondheim as well ---
-
But then I found I loved all the early Sondheim and nothing really passed Into the Woods
-
well - West Side Story of course but I mean where he did the music and lyrics
-
oh wait - no I guess A Funny Thing Happened in the Way to The Forum -- I saw that as a child and knew allt eh lyrics -= loved that
-
Into The Woods I loved
-
I didn't care for A Little Night Music when it came out - never saw the show just heard the OCR - but I gave it another go with Kritzerland put it out and voila I now love it
-
Same with Follies-
-
probably an age thing - I suppose I was too young to truly appreciate the viewpoints of the characters
-
I stopped one paragraph away from finishing the latest chapter - after that, four more to go.
-
If you do not plan it out how do you know how many more chapters you need to finish it?
-
that was a serious question BTW
-
The lady in the NJ Beth Bath and Beyond yesterday was stabbed 24 times by a young mental case who should have been locked up: in December he burned to death a cat in a pet carrying case. I suppose they'll plead him insane, but I hope he's put away for a long time. The lady is in serious condition and her baby was unharmed.
Was that at the Paramus Mall?
-
I saw him in "Rent" - front row on a bench in La Jollia. Amazing experience.
I saw RENT with the Vixter just before it closed - just didn't get - I could not identify with any of the characters - they all struck me as self indulgent, and self destructive - irresponsible - I wanted them to pay their rent and call their mothers!!
-
and to be courteous of the other patrons in the restaurant
-
and the whole Elsie the cow thing was just ...........................dumb
-
Clearly, I was not the demographic they were looking for
on the OTHER hand ------ if Neil Patrick Harris was in it I probably would have loved it which character was he? Mark ?
-
LOL - I totally get that. Shows like Rent or Spring Awakening "speak" to our youngin's in ways we don't understand. However, there is so much "angst" in that music that young people think that is how musical theatre should be performed.
-
and where did TCB go?
I am right here (except when I am typing a post).
-
vixmom - each of the Hofstetter books has the exact same number of chapters - I like that and will always keep to it. So, twenty-one chapters is what they all have. It all works out well in terms of how the plot plugs along.
-
I thought Stephen Colbert was a bit of stunt casting - he can carry a tune OK but it was a bit of stunt casting in my opinion - it wasn''t that he was bad, more that I didn't think he brought anything special to the role
So, Stephen Colbert sang "Ladies Who Lunch?"
-
Well. BK, I drove vixmom and Matthew away!
-
And now I have driven BK away.
-
And now, I guess, I have driven myself away.
G'night!
-
I have driven back.
-
