Well, you've read the notes, the notes flew, and now it is time for you to post until the flying cows come home.

Morning all.
That is all.

Been out for the morning cappuccino and croissant. It's bitterly cold and snowing so I will hibernate for the rest of the day.

I did a quickie parody salute (more a salute) to Bette Midler "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" in honor of her new Broadway play (not a musical) playing agent Sue Mengers. The terrific singer Jan Horvath did all three voices on this parodytrack.

Please pass the link around if you like it! It's under a minute, almost like a parody info-mercial.

It's Friday--my what a long week this seemed to be!

Good morning, all! Last night, I was in a hurry getting to bed, and I pked my left eye with the end of my eye drops bottle. Besides fearing that I'd torn or scratched my cornea, the pain was awful. I didn't know if I'd wake up blind in one eye, and rather than getting to bed early, i was up far too late. So, I'm a bit draggy today but time's a-wastin! I am not blind, and luckily, I see my eye doctor on Tuesday, if there's any irritationor pain over the weekend.
This morning I need to stop at the post office before heading to Toyland. Once there, I'll work on "I Won't Dance" and "Lovely To Look At." There's no word yet on the Aunt Minnie negotiations or my schedule proposal from yesterday.

Friday morning greetings! It's icy here and we're in until it melts off our driveway.
My book group friends left last night just as the sleet began to fall. They all got down the driveway to their cars, but 10 minutes later they would have had difficulty. Most of them only had a few blocks to drive.

Eye vibes for DR Elmore!
-
Icy and dangerous here right now....but temp is heading for 40 degrees....so we shall see what happens. And temps are expected to be in the 40's again tomorrow, so i guess I will have to work.
DR ELMORE - I watch the trial on TRU Tv in the morning and then on HLN (what used to be CNN Headline News) in the afternoon....
As DR CILLA LIZ wrote yesterday, she is a complete sociopath like Nathan Leopold or Carol Fugate..... She has admitted to killing him - in self defense, she says - so there is no chance she will walk. It is just a case of what her punishment will be. I am against the death penalty, but now after watching her, I am wondering about this case. As DR CILLA LIZ also said, she argued with her first lawyer and then wanted to defend herself, but since it is a Death Penalty case, she was not allowed to.
She stalked him....which the prosecutor is finally bringing to light (she claims he was trying to get back with her)....made his life a living hell.... She makes Glenn Close in FATAL ATTRACTION look like Mary in BABES IN TOYLAND.....
-
Pretend it's Pirate Day and wear an eyepatch DR ELMORE!
-
DR CILLA LIZ I think Juan is scoring big points as well.....and Monday he will get to the day of the murder, which she has conveniently forgotten.
I think the finger, the magazines, and the journal are KEY! And who knows what else he has.... ;D
As I just wrote to DR ELMORE - she reminds me of those later interviews that were filmed with Carol Fugate....
-
Good morning, all.
Coffee. Toast.
More coffee. Oh what the hell. More toast, too. This time with honey. Live large, I say.

Got through last night's preview (populated by seniors) by the skin of our teeth. It was actually a pretty good show, but everyone -- literally, everyone -- even the orchestra
was beautiful -- had flubs, and the cast was really beating themselves up over theirs. But that's why you have these preview nights. Show opens tonight and, whatever happens individually, I think it will go very well.
One of my two flubs was a classic, playing a two-bar solo diddy on the WRONG PATCH. (Keyboard isn't fully programmed yet and I was picking at things manually.) Could it have been worse? Yes, and I can only THANK GAWD it wasn't the tam-tam patch.

Same here. As we had just moved to South Florida in 1960 when I was about the age of those kids, it resonates for me on so many levels I wouldn't know where to begin. It's just a very special film.

ALARUMS AND FLOURISHES.....
-
I always think they make the best entrances and exits.
-
Phone awful tone problem is now fixed and fine - and it had nothing to do with the alarm and you'd have thunk that AT&T would have known the other possibility and looked for it, but, of course they did not. The minute we ascertained it wasn't the alarm he asked me if I had a TV service. I told him DirecTV - he walked in the den and unplugged the phone line into the DVR and voila - phone is working fine now. I called DirecTV and told them the problem - they said something was wrong somewhere and that it had to do with On Demand and/or the caller ID on my TV screen that shows when someone calls and I have the TV on. I said I don't use On Demand ever and I don't give a crap about caller ID on my TV screen - once he knew that he said to just leave it unhooked. In the old days pre-digital, the phone line had to be hooked in the DVR because it sent information every night to the box - that doesn't happen anymore so the ONLY thing the phone line was doing was providing caller ID on my TV screen. So all is well.
-
About this time last year I thought I had something in my eye, and no matter what I did, I couldn't get rid of it. Finally called the optometrist to ask him to take a look and get the damned whatever-it-was out of there. But there was nothing. I'd scratched the cornea. My first corneal abrasion, and I'd been putting in and taking out contacts for some 35 years. No telling how or when it happened, sometimes it just...happens. He said it would heal itself in a day or two, and to relieve the discomfort, since I'm a lens wearer anyway, he gave me a pair of "bandage contacts" (they're highly gas-permeable, to let the eye breathe better) to wear for the next day and night, including while sleeping. Did the trick. And having been through that, I think I could probably wear a regular pair if it happened again. They protect the eye beautifully from the horrible irritation when blinking. For non-lens wearers, I dunno -- maybe that calls for the pirate patch, to help alleviate the blinking problem?
-
Oh good lord. But you're still getting the new alarm system installed?

TOD
DVD (rental): "No Love for Johnnie" 1962 film with Peter Finch which I think I may have seen decades ago but have totally forgotten.
Blu-ray: Got "The Bourne Trilogy" which I enjoyed watching consecutively.
-
Oh good lord. But you're still getting the new alarm system installed?
Yes, a whole new up-to-date system. The sensors are all in place and fine and working with the old system, but this system is over twenty years old now and no one uses it anymore and it's a joke. It's time to update and the guy said it's a very fast thing - new box, new pad, and that's it.

Everything's up to date in Studio City.

Eye vibes for Elmore. You need them for those VCR selections.

I believe Steam Cleaning People have just pulled up. Once that's done, then I have to do some banking, then I'll eat a little something.

DR CILLA LIZ do you think Juan was just testing the waters yesterday and will be more methodical on Monday?

I e-mailed three dear readers last night about the problem with the troublemaker - please ignore it - I'm not getting down in the mud - that's what she wants and I leave that to her - let her do whatever she wants - if that makes her happy to crap all over someone's work, then so be it. Karma will take care of it all - I don't need to be like her. Thank you.

Last night after work I stopped by the new Chinese restaurant downtown and tried there sliced Pork Belly and Schezuan (sp) pickle dish.

Well, off to see what is for sale on Ebay.

Sometimes being patient and hard-headed pays off. I made a deal for a wonderful score to a brilliant film (which I've talked about here several times) - very exciting. The director of the film only had the separate music stem from the film itself - music clean but volumes going up and down as in the film, and mono as in the film. We've had to deal with music stems occasionally and the mastering guy is great at it (Audrey Rose comes to mind). But I was really not happy with the music stem on this - if music cuts out abruptly in the film it does on the stem - also it seemed to me several cues were incomplete and faded out. The thing was barely going to be twenty-eight minutes, and therefore I made a deal to couple it with another score by the same composer from another film by the same director. That score was thirty-six minutes or so, so we'd be fine. But we went back to the composer and it turns out he had his tape of the first score - so I've got that now - in stereo and at least twenty minutes longer than what's in the film and what we had. I now have to figure out if there's some way to fit all this on one CD - or if I go to two CDs - or if I make it to separate releases, which I wouldn't be keen on doing since the second film is pretty unknown.
-
All this noise is actually making me nauseous.
-
And I have music to listen to - that won't be happening. I'm thinking I probably won't go to this show tonight so I can finish liner notes - can't write those until noise stops.
-
Enjoyable Filichia on Friday. Would like to see Donnybrook! and may just have to dig out the vinyl this weekend.

I think she's worse than Carol Fugate. At least Carol was young and may have been influences by Charlie Starkweather.
Jodi did this all on her own.
The points Juan made are totally key to undermining her defense. If you are in love with someone and walk in on them pleasuring themselves to photos of young children (her allegation) and he was so upset about it he attacked you and broke your finger, you aren't going to calmy text back and forth an hour or two later about the car and write in your private journal "nothing of note has happened in the past few days", and not tell anyone about it - even family members you have discussed your problems with in the past. Especially when you aren't living together. For those not following, she is using this as the incident that she said was prior domestic abuse and that's why when he (naked and in the shower) got mad at her for dropping a camera she was so terrified that she was sure he was going to kill her so she had to kill him. (But she didn't mean to shoot him in the face and doesn't remember stabbing him 29 times etc)
It's also all on Youtube. just look for Jodi Arias trial and you'll find it. I've gone back and watched some of the State's case that I didn't see before.
-
Does anybody else here think that SMASH has gotten rather boring this season?
Yes, to the point that I forgot to even watch it this week
-
So, Cillaliz, how much snow did you finally get?
-
DR CILLA LIZ do you think Juan was just testing the waters yesterday and will be more methodical on Monday?
Yes and no. Usually you do cross in topics and skip around rather than doing it chronologically. I would consider the topics from yesterday to be her double standard, a little of the stalking behavior and attacking the credibility of her allegation regarding her allegations against Travis. He also showed that she was attemtping to tamper with and influence witnesses through her coded messages in the magazine. I thought that was a great way to end the day.
In cross, you aren't telling a story, you're poking holes in the other side's story and the credibility of the witness. Sometimes you don't want to be predictible or maybe you don't explain why you are doing something. You are just getting the evidence in so you can support your closing argument. The rules of closing are that you have to argue from the evidence presented and reasonable inferences that can be made from that evidence. So, you have to get in the supporting facts even if it doesn't make a lot of sense at the time you do it.
The other thing I think he was doing was getting control over the examination and showing Jodi he's not going to give in to her or stop asking about something because she doesn't like it. The witness is the star of direct examination, the attorney has to be the star of cross. He's setting that up and I think he's doing it well
-

I think that's a great attitude. Karma never fails, you know.
-
So, Cillaliz, how much snow did you finally get?
At my house, about 11 inches!
-
I cleared the driveway this morning and went into the house, changed into my comfortable clothes, sat down at the computer and looked out the window to see the snow plows passing my house and leaving about 3 feet of snow across the end of the driveway. I have since gone back out and cleaned it out. I'm thinking about going to the home show today. I love to look at that stuff
-
If you want the plows to come to your street, clear your driveway and go back inside. It works almost all the time
-
Thank you DR CILLA LIZ.....great insight for us amateurs.

Now that one goes too small lol. Anyway, you get the idea
-
Looks too cold for my blood. Stay warm.
-
Will the prosecution ever get to have a witness that tells us what a swell guy the victim was? Or has that time passed?
Actually sometimes the most effective part of the prosecution case is rebuttal. You don't have to disclose rebuttal witnesses, at least I don't think you need to there, the rules changed after I left. I don't know if he'll do it but that sort of testimony could be used to rebut her allegations of his explosive temper etc. She never says he's a bad guy in public or in general, so bringing that in is tricky.
-
And will they ever get a chance to have a psychiatrist testify about the symptoms of a sociopath? Or has that time passed also?
-
I mean, after listening to her, if a psychiatrist testified about the the signs of a sociopath, the jury would recognize it. Right?
-
Well, she's going to have a domestic violence expert talk about PTSD and they could have an expert to rebut the defense expert. I don't know about getting into the other stuff. The rules on character evidence are tricky and quite limited, but she may have opened the door to that sort of testimony.
I have no idea what evidence the state has or whether they have experts who can testify, but if they have it, it may not have been admissible in the states case in chief. If something isn't admissible under the rules or a judge's ruling, but the other side introduces evidence about it, they call that opening the door. Then what you do is drive a truck through it...in other words you are allowed to bring in what would have been inadmissible evidence to rebut the evidence the otherside introduced. We'll just have to watch to see if that has happened here

We went to Redbox today to pick up Robot and Frank. Since it was inside Safeway I wanted to see if they had something I could take for my sinuses so I don't wake up again in the middle of the night with a pounding headache. I was so excited at the price of the Haagen-Dazs I forgot to look.
Keith found large delicious strawberries which was a real surprise & treat. I found plain unsalted, not for Passover, matzos the other markets have been out of. We don't go to this market very often and are thinking maybe we should give it a try again.

Cheers to DR George for being able to leave work and go home where he has a functioning "necessary".
I hope the ketchup was good, too.
-
Chas - hope all goes well

If only he had thought to take what he needed for work with him & not had to return ;)

Interesting DR CILLA LIZ......
Is there a possibility of Not Guilty because of Self Defense in this case?
Well pigs are flying in tv commercials. She admitted she killed him. They aren't going to let her off, it was too gruesome. The question is will she get 1st degree and if so will she get death

Hello!
-
What a day, and it isn't over yet!
-
Today at school, unfortunately, most of us had a funeral to go to (I sang/played) of a co-workers Dad. It was a great Liturgy. Kinda harder to do a funeral when you know the family. The rest of the school day was fine.
-
Tonight, a friend of mine is throwing a birthday dinner for me. A few of my pals will be there. It should be fun.

I use Advil Cold and sinus and it helps a lot. Also the netipot squirt bottle.
-
Glad your eye is okay DR Elmore. That could be scary!
-
My shoulders have been acting up a bit. I'm trying to figure out why. I think it's from pulling my nieces around on a sled last weekend.
-
Since I can't take Advil I was going to look for Tylenol Sinus which I've never tried. And since the netipot bothered me I was going to get some Ayr saline mist. I have some expired mist I will use anyway.
-
LOL DR Jennifer pulling your nieces on a sled will do it.
-
I made a big pot of beef vegetable soup. I had a big bowl and a glass of milk. Now I am sleepy

I use Avil Cold and Sinus too. I also use a squirt bottle, but it's generic

I went to the home show. Paul asked if I had fun. I don't know that a home show is fun, there's some neat stuff, got some freebies, registered for lots of giveaways and went home. This year I told them all not to call me for my free estimates etc, I'll call them when I'm ready to do the work I'm interested in. Last year I got about 50 calls and just quit answering the phone
-
Just had a delicious conversation with Miss Shani Wallis - some great stories about A Time for Singing. Best of all, I think I convinced her to do a Kritzerland show.
-
I used to enjoy going to home shows. We haven't been to one in years and I can't say I miss going.
-
I'm fading fast. Of course chances are during the night I'll be wide awake.
-
Then come back during the night and play! I just got a reprint of the Caledonian yearbook :)
-
Good Shani News!
Thanks DR CILLA LIZ - that's what I thought, but I wanted to be sure she wasn't going to walk out.
-
Missed it...>BUT
Breaking legs vibes for DR CHAS SMITH
And Birthday Party fun vibes for DR MATTHEW.

Caldonia....CALDONIA.....what makes your big feet so BIG?

There are no guarantees. Just my opinion
-
Cool Bruce. Had you lost your first one or was it falling apart? I had both of our year books and mine seems to be gone now. :( At least we still have Keith's here.
How did you get it?
-
DR Matthew I hope you are having a fun evening with your friends.
-
Well Comcast no longer supports Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail - so I have to start getting my mail at the Comcast Home Page....
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Ditto

Wonderful celebration of National Margarita Day this evening. I limited myself to one, but two would have been smooth sailing.

I enjoyed the photos from DR Cilla & DR John.
-
Thanks Jane
-
Welcome Cilla.

I received a book in the mail today from a friend that I'm looking forward to reading. It is called "grayson" by Lynne Cox. Lynne is a long distance swimmer and the story is about the lost baby whale she encountered when she was 17. Having read only the first couple of paragraphs I have a feeling I'm in for a real treat.
-
Last night I finished reading "The Last Child" by John Hart (King of Lies). I thought it was terrific. I didn't want to put it down and I didn't want it to end.
-
Thanks, Jane.
-
Watching "Go Into Your Dance" with Al Jolson and Ruby Keeler. Helen Morgan's a supporting player and she steals the movie singing a song that sounds a little too much like "Bill": "The Little Things You Used to Do."

Please say "hello" to her for me.

The Fort Wayne Civic Theater's travel agent just booked my plane reservations for May-June.
Getting there from Austin is not easy.
Actually getting just about anywhere from Austin is not easy.
On the way there, I go through Atlanta, then on the way back, I go through Detroit.

San Antonio is the same. Almost always a detour on the way to where you want to go.

No, I didn't have it at all - gone long ago. I was alerted to it through classmates - a company does these reprints and they're very nice.
-
Finished with my viewing for the evening, and shall now work on the liner notes some more.

Whenever we go to Fort Wayne, we fly to Indianapolis and rent a car.

I am home from seeing The Mystery of Edwin Drood, thanks to the kindly offer of a ticket from DR Cillaliz. I had seen the original production twice, so I didn't particularly plan on catching this one, but I am very glad I did. It was quite wonderful and a lot of fun. There were a large number of understudies tonight, so I didn't see Chita Rivera, Will Chase, or Peter Benson. but I saw three excellent performances by Alison Cimmet, Spencer Plachy, and my old friend Nick Corley, as well as my Finian, the wonderful Jim Norton, as the Chairman. Our Finian's Rainbow director Warren Carlisle choreographed this production quite nicely. The scenery was amazing, and I liked a lot of William Ivey Long's costues, except for some with out-of-control bustles that looked cheap and silly rather than period.
I have to be at City Center by 10am tomorrow to help Joshie prepare for the SUPERMAN orchestra deadline, so I am off to bed.
-
Glad you had a good time DR Elmore!
-
Night, all
-
Delighted to report the vibes worked, and worked well. We had a damned fine opening night. Thank you all.
-
OMG, that Margarita. And that Texas salsa!
-
Congrats ChasSmith Vibes for a good run
-
Time for this cowgirl to get some sleep
-
Yay for Chas's excellent opening night.
-
Finished the liner notes and they're now off to the designer. I'm really going to try and push this through so we can have CDs in about four weeks.
-
No doubt I am the last person on earth who didn't already know this, but I can now say that REAR WINDOW is one heck of an enjoyable film.
And Grace Kelly wears some amazing clothes in it!
-
Home from a rather enjoyable evening.
-
Now to bed, rehearsal at 9:00am - first rehearsal for the Coat show. We'll see how bright these middle school kids are. Luckily, this show can be sung in unison :)

page 7 Coat dance

Thanks, Ron. I visited the "necessary" (almost a 1776 reference) at home before the union meeting, so everything was fine, in that respect. ;) I just checked my work e-mail and they had it fixed within a few hours.
-
The union meeting went quite well...we had impromptu elections (we voted and passed a motion to wave the 15 day notice and special meeting). Two officers stepped down and I agreed to continue to be the treasurer.
-

Nice!

After I got home and before the meeting, I was able to ketchup on the TV show, "Raising Hope." I had two 1-hour episodes and one half-hour episode. It was all very funny! I still have some shows to watch, but I plan to watch a lot this weekend.
