Happy Oscar Day, Everyone!

Good morning, all.
Had trouble connecting this morning. Couldn't read the notes, and I'm sickly curiously as to what you had to say about 9 to 5. Don't care much for the OBC recording too much, largely because of Allison Janney's game but unsuccessful attempts at singing. But I thought there was a decent song in there somewhere.
-
Good morning, all! I slept very well and as late as I wanted to.
My plans today for today include the landry this morning along with a trip to the market. I need to continue tidying up the place, and I'd like to vacuum before noon and spend the afternoon lounging about.

Good morning!

Happy Oscar Day!
-
Good morning, all.
SO happy that the predictions for some snow or mix did NOT come true, even though I'm staying very happily ensconced inside all day today. It's crazy how no one knew what the weather was going to be last night and this morning, and they kept changing it every ten minutes over the previous 36 hours. I guess that whatever there was went so far to the north of us as to be a non-issue.
-
Appreciated the notes. It's sad how EVERYONE in regional and community theater craves doing those kinds of shows, almost to the exclusion of any other. I suppose that was always the way, people wanting to emulate the latest Broadway trends. Well, they can have them.
-
DR Jane, re: your comments last night about people not returning library books.
I don't know how it is for ebooks (which I assume is what you're waiting for), but I personally return my books as soon as I read them.
BUT that said, my sister said that she only returns all her books together at the end when they are due. I would never do this because other people are waiting. But I think it is fairly common for people to either a) take their time reading or b) return only on due date.
-
Looking forward to the Red Carpet on E! at 6pm! Then the Oscars.
Here TAR is on at 7pm (same channel as Oscars). So i will watch that too.

A good choices of nominations.
The pundits say Skyfall by Adele will be the winner although there was bad press that she had "sample" Monty Norman's James Bond Theme in her song. I believe this is only the 4th Bond film to get a song nomination!! (Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only & Nobody Does It Better) There were a lot better Bond theme songs that were never nominated.
There are three ballad type songs Before My Time, Suddenly & Pi's Lullabye. "Suddenly" is one of those stage to screen transfers where an original song is written just to get an Oscar nomination. Sometimes it work like in Evita and others are put over the credits (Chicago and The Phantom of the Opera) and others are written by other writers other than original composers to give the stars of the film new songs (Dreamgirls).
Suddenly in my opinion is my least favorite of the nominations this year. The lyrics are bland and a far from memorable tune.
Pi's Lullabye is very pretty. Good music, but I wish I understood the lyrics as they are sung in Tamil.
Before My Time sets out what it was meant to do. A commentary on what the documentary was all about much in the same way "I Need To Wake Up" from "An Inconvient Truth", but this is a little more depressing and needed to be a little for upbeat in my opinion to succeed.
Finally Everyone Needs A Best Friend. One of those also ran nomination, but better than the higher profile song from Les Miserables. The song is upbeat swinging theme song that was often heard in the 50's, 60's, 70's when song nominations started to move away from musicals. Nora Jones sings the song well, but they should have a male voice do it. Perhaps some like Harry Conick Jr. or even Seth McFarland do it.
So what would I have voted for if I was able to?
Pi's Lullabye

Well I have to say that I agree with MR BK's sentiments in the notes.....and have for a long time.... NOT that I am not happy when someone produces one of these shows and has a good time. I know it is HARD WORK.....and I know you can't do THE SOUND OF MUSIC and OKLAHOMA! and LI'L ABNER every year.....but I still don't know what the fascination is for seeing an imitation, when you can just put in the DVD....particularly when the original source wasn't a musical in the first place. OR the production uses songs from the soundtrack and adds some "original" songs...that are always...superfluous....
ANYWAY.....this screeching and squalling singing seemed to me to start with that TV show from decades ago.....STAR SEARCH....the winners sang for about 45 seconds.....and at the 30 second mark each of them had a key change and started yelling the song and the audience would go crazy. Of course now they do the same thing on AMERICAN IDOL and X FACTOR...I mean I am assuming they do, I don't watch either of those shows anymore....
-
Anyway....
DR VIXMOM the winning booth was surprisingly sparse - somebody must have been related to a judge.... Your booth was very well done.... And I loved your photos.
DR CILLA LIZ - Ricky has turned into quite the handsome cat! Not the say that Callie and Boo are not also pretty.

Oscar Day!
Hmmmm.....I may miss the first part so that I can watch THE AMAZING RACE....but we shall see. There are several interesting races this year that really could go in any direction...so I think the awards this year will be a good indication of the thinking of the Academy.... Of course I also expect a few political statements from some.....but hopefully they will be minimal.
MOSTLY I am looking forward to Seth McFarlane as host.....

Oscar Day!
As my wife puts it: "A religious experience in our house".
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
I've only missed watching the Oscars once. I think it was 1957, the year that BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI won.
I was on a plane when they were going on, flying from Seattle to Los Angeles.
-
One more day at home before going back to work. I'm amazed at how worn out I get sometimes. I'm going to keep doing this taking a 4 day weekend every couple months. I didn't get all my projects done...ok, I didn't really get any of my projects done, but I did get some sleep and rest and feel 1000 times better.
-
I watched the 1996 awards (the year that FARGO was up) from a hospital bed.
-
For the past 10-15 years I have done my best to see all the nominated movies before the Oscar broadcast. It's helped me win several contests. I didn't even try this year. Django Unchained, Life of PI, The Master, The Impossible and others are still here and I really didn't even think about going until yesterday. I am looking forward to renting them in the future. Much less expensive.
-
I always fondly remember enjoying the Oscars from an overstuffed red leatherette chair or booth in the bar (a nice comfortable room) at the Hamburger Hamlet, when Sacheen Littlefeather accepted for Brando ... and when the guy streaked past David Niven ...
Damn it to HELL, those were the days.
-
I think this is the first year in a long time I haven't been invited to an Oscar get together of some sort (other than here - the best place to be)One of the worst Oscar parties was one I put together back in 2000 or maybe 2001, I was living at the lake and invited my movie group and their spouses. We had spent hours and hours seeing all the movies. They were all planning to come. I made lots of food themed for all the movies, had the house all clean and TV ready for everyone to watch and one by one they all called and cancelled. They had good reasons not to come, but that didn't make it any better. In the end one friend came for about an hour and had to go. That was when I swore I'd never have another party. I kept that promise for over 10 years, lol. I've only had one since. It was a great success, but I was a wreck until people actually started showing up
-
I remember the streaker!
-
I think one of my fonder memories for watching the show was a couple years ago when I won the Oscar contest and a free movie pass for a year. I was at a gathering with some friends and everyone kept asking a friend who she picked, how she was doing, saying that she knows more about movies than anyone etc.... She does read everything she can find and studies everything about the movies. I didn't say anything, just agreed with them. The friend is very competitive so I have to say it was with more than a little satisfaction that I was able to say at the end of the night that I won the contest.
-
I entered the contest again this year. I tied for first last year but they drew names or something and I got a $20 gift certificate for third place. This year, I entered but picked a couple wild cards-which is how you lose most of the time. The prize has gone from a year pass for up to 4 people to a $100 gift cert. Still a good prize but not nearly the prize I won...and used a lot!
-
Time to throw the laundry in the dryer. I did most of it yesterday, just doing some misc stuff today.
-
LOL Ricky.....
-
The woman on the weather channel just called it "the butt end of rush hour" lol.
-
We're going to have a little more snow over the next few days, just 1-3 inches, no biggie.
-
I finished the laundry by noon, and I've had sme ham and eggs for brunch.
I think I will now do some work on the recording libretto for ROBERTA.
-

Sunday afternoon greetings! I stayed home from Lima today to spend time with the cousins. We had breakfast and the kids played outside. They left about half an hour ago, on their way to see my Mom again before they head on to Pittsburgh.

Regarding the movie-to-stage musical adaptations, I remember a discussion awhile back of an "E.T.: The Musical" adaptation, but I can't remember the context. Turns out there is an "E.T." musical in a YA novel called "Better Nate Than Ever" about a kid who tries out for the show.

Found this fractal food at the farmers market yesterday. The farmers called it romanesco. Turns out that could be romanesco cauliflower, romanesco broccoli or romanesco cabbage, depending on where you're from. You use it like cauliflower, though the flavor is a little greener. I think it's gorgeous.

It's fascinating, though, because 9 to 5 was a flop and lost all its money on Broadway AND the road. And last night's house on a Saturday night? Half full.

I'm like you and was the same way with regular books even when a trip to the library was out of my way.
Keith said there is a 3rd option, that the people were still reading other books first. I downloaded a 500 page book so that could be me if my library books arrive soon.
-
Last night I purchased MR. CHURCHILL'S SECRETARY and it didn't download. I then purchased THE RUSSIAN CONCUBINE which I immediately began reading. When the emails came in from Barnes & Noble about my purchases I replayed to them to take back the first book since I hadn't received it. This morning the book had arrived and Barnes and Noble has since informed me of the fact. I still might insist they take it back since it took so long to get here.
-
DR Jane, don't return MR. CHURCHILL'S SECRETARY! I've read it and the sequel, PRINCESS ELIZABETH'S SPY, and I like the series very much. The last major site Richard and I visited in London was the Churchill War Rooms, which is where a lot of the first book takes place.

That is true. It happens to me a lot that I have a number of books to read at the same time. For example I have one book from the library due on march 9th. And there is another person waiting for it. BUT there are quite a few books that I want to read before it. So I will probably only be returning it the week it is due.

I think at amazon you have a certain amount of time to give the book back. You should check to see what the time limit is for B&N. Also, if you're going to wait to read it in the next week or two maybe you should just keep it. :)

Before this here website, I used to have an annual Oscar partay at my house - started doing that in the mid-1970s - the price of admission was a pizza - so we had amazing pizzas from all kinds of interesting places. I continued doing that all through the 1980s and almost right up to the time I started producing at Varese.

Been to Gelson's, gotten some food for the week, and my food for the day. I shall now watch a motion picture and wait for our partay, but in the meantime get me the HELL off this damn page.

Thanks. Maybe your recommendation is the reason I had it on my wish list to begin with. I don't like to order books until I'm reading to read them in case they become available at the library or the price goes down. Thinking the order hadn't gone through I began reading a sample through Amazon that for some reason was only a couple of pages. At that point I wasn't sure I wanted to read the book. Keith pulled up a larger sample on his Kindle app this morning and the books seems more interesting.
I'm confused though. Is this a murder mystery or spy novel? Does the Secretary in the title refer to a person I haven't met yet or the one I'm told in the opening sentence will be toast?

I rarely experience slowness here, but have had it moving between pages just within the past half hour.

Fox News has announced that Mitt Romney and his wife will speak for the first time since the election.
It must have been pretty creepy around their house with neither of them speaking for the past three and a half months.
Sounds so nice and peaceful.
LOL! LOL!

I have never before seen Daniel Day-Lewis made out of bread.

Few shows today honor three-act show structure anymore - and they should. The first act break in Peter Pan is after I'm Flying and in my opinion, it needs it. The original reason, however, was to get Peter and kids out of the harnesses and to make the set change into Neverland. For the two-act version, they do some completely unnecessary dancing and time-killing stuff "in one" while the set is changed. It just adds time and is a bore.
-
Hey, shouldn't we be on page five?
-
What time does the silly red carpet stuff begin, and you know I want lots of reportage.
-
I'm watching Game Change - the story about the McCain/Palin campaign. HBO loves to do this stuff - and only four years after the real deal.
-
I surely hope they've rethought the best actor and actress bit when the former winner comes and yaks at the nominees with all that masturbatory crap. Seeing that the last two years was the nadir of the Oscars - so self-congratulatory and sickening. Then again, the entire show has been sickening for decades.
-
If the Oscars are starting at 5:30 Left Coast time, why are there already people walking down the Red Carpet.?
What could you possibly do for three and one half hours?
-
5
-
Red Carpet or maybe it's PRE-Red Carpet stuff is on ABC and E! now.
-
I just noticed this:
Sandra: "Quork quork quork! Woo wooo woooooo! Pfffft pffffft pfffffffffffffffffft!!!
Wae-Ling Goldstein: I see you have finally cracked.
;D :D

DR Laura I very much enjoyed the photo of Lincoln. The sisters must have had fun making him.

I always thought the Second Act was boring because there is very little flying in it; except for Wendy getting shot with the arrow.

I think they are covering each other covering the pre Oscars

Last night I purchased MR. CHURCHILL'S SECRETARY and it didn't download. I then purchased THE RUSSIAN CONCUBINE which I immediately began reading. When the emails came in from Barnes & Noble about my purchases I replayed to them to take back the first book since I hadn't received it. This morning the book had arrived and Barnes and Noble has since informed me of the fact. I still might insist they take it back since it took so long to get here.
I think at amazon you have a certain amount of time to give the book back. You should check to see what the time limit is for B&N. Also, if you're going to wait to read it in the next week or two maybe you should just keep it. :)
First I have the 500 plus page book, and then I expect at least one of the 2 library books to be available, and then I have the book to read for my discussion group, and then I can read the book that took so long to get to me.
Has anyone ever ordered an eBook that took so long to arrive?
I haven't ordered an ebook that took long to arrive. But I don't always check right away.
But that said I have emailed myself some stuff that has taken 30 minutes (sometimes it comes right away). And the first time I used netgalley it took a few hours (after that it always came within minutes).
-
That Lincoln bread is so cute!
-
DR Jane, I wonder if you spoke to someone at your library if you could find out about which books would be available to you as ebooks. It seems crazy that you have to wait until they show up in your system. I think they must have some idea which ebooks they are going to get.
-
I am only going to start watching the Red Carpet on E! at 6pm. It is on from 6-8pm. Apparently on ABC Kristin Chenoweth will be doing something (interviewing?). And also she and Seth are supposed to be doing the Closing Number on the Oscars. If that gets cancelled I will not be happy. I love the closing number (it's one of my favorite parts of the show).
-
DR Jennifer the ebooks come through a system for all of Oregon and it really isn't worth it to me to investigate this. I haven't even asked about requesting books, though I don't see anything online about that.
-
I hope the show doesn't go too late since I took an Advil Cold and Sinus to see if it would help. I will probably get sleepy sooner rather than later (although not from this med). It is one of the only cold meds that does not put me to sleep.
-

You should ask. You could save money by not having to purchase.
Have you tried reading any physical books lately? I can't imagine not being able to read physical books. Especially for the covers which I am obsessed with many!
-
BK's very own Costumer, Amy Adams, has been nominated for four Oscars.
-
When I used to order books from B & N using the computer it could take half an hour for them to reach my Nook. With the library app on my Nook HD they begin to download immediately. The odd thing was I after I ordered the "missing" book nothing happened. I thought my order didn't go through.

Dozed a bit during the end of the Daytona 500, which I only watched because our niece Lauren is a huge fan of Danica Patrick.

Appreciated the notes. It's sad how EVERYONE in regional and community theater craves doing those kinds of shows, almost to the exclusion of any other. I suppose that was always the way, people wanting to emulate the latest Broadway trends. Well, they can have them.
It's fascinating, though, because 9 to 5 was a flop and lost all its money on Broadway AND the road. And last night's house on a Saturday night? Half full.
Which made it half empty. It depends where the empty was whether it looked bad or not. (i.e.) The first five rows or so.

Frankenweenie.....sounds like food already

I have a question for all the west coasters.
What programming does ABC air after the Academy Awards?
As it will be still in "prime time" hours does it air network shows or does it hand it over to local programing?
-
Fresh Guacamole....once again, don't need to change the name (short film animated)

I have written Barnes and Noble a response to their morning email explaining how to retrieve books that don't show up. I mentioned my disappointment they didn't offer to refund the book. Since refunds aren't an option with them I might consider getting an iPad next time. I doubt telling them that will make a difference but I tried. I will probably never experience this problem again so it might not be an issue.
I order books using my wish list so everything on it is something I want to read even if I were to order a different book than I intended to. It reduces my chance of error and spending too much time searching for something to read.

I been reading articles about how the directors of Argo, Zero Dark Thirty, Les Miserables, Django Unchained were over looked for Best Director.
Well There are 9 (or is it 10) films nominated and only five slots for directors of course people will be looked over.
In the past where there was only 5 films usually 1 director of the best picture nominees was always over looked. And there was chatter about the overlooked helmer.
It was very rare that all five directors matched the five best pictures. The "odd director" out who got a nominations usually was the director of a foreign language film or at that time when a director could only be nomimated once but had two Best Picture nominees another director would sneek in.

I thought Ben Affleck did an amazing job of taking an event where we know the ending and making it so suspensful that many (including myself) wondered if I really remembered correctly what was going to happen. I actually heard a person behind me finally exhale after the ending was clear. I thought he deserved the nomination for Argo. He has been a total class act about not being nominated, though and that makes me like him even more
-
Can't wait for our partay to begin. Until then, let's keep some postin' goin' one.
I'm watching a Doctor Who special on BBC America. They've included a "classic episode" that the talking heads referenced...an episode with the first Doctor, Wiliam Harnell from 1964, "The Aztecs." They've gone back to the Aztec time and one of the companions, the guy (I forget his name) gives an Aztec warrior what looks like the Spock neck pinch and knocks him out! I wonder if Gene Roddenberry got the idea from this episode!

I agree completely. Ben has been very classy.

I was very moved by this story about the volunteers in Newtown taking the time to write thank you notes for the 175,000 cards and letters received. It will be awhile before they are dong.

Amy Adams is being interviewed right now

She's wearing Oscar De la Renta. She has a wonderful attitude, being there to have fun.

Silver linings play dough
-
Watching E!
Amy Adams does look beautiful.
-
Local news is on Channel 8 - so it looks like TAR will start on time.
-
Wow - Carrie Washington's dress is beautiful!!! So far everyone seems to be rising to the occasion.
-
Daniel Radcliffe!!!
-
Man ABC has been 10 ads see one dress, 10 ads see one dress yuck!
-
I spent the afternoon watching Disney's CINDERELLA, which I decided do after watching SNOW WHITE last night. I really have no desire to watch the Oscars, so I'll watch another DVD.
-
Regarding the movie-to-stage musical adaptations, I remember a discussion awhile back of an "E.T.: The Musical" adaptation, but I can't remember the context. Turns out there is an "E.T." musical in a YA novel called "Better Nate Than Ever" about a kid who tries out for the show.
There's actually a demo of a "Star Wars (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Star-Wars-the-Musical-2005-Concept-Recording/7173)" musical...and a couple of tracks from a different version written by Charles Strouse (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Star-Wars-1987-Demo/4635)!
-
Seems to be the year of the strapless gown
-
So the actual show starts at five-thirty?
-
And the red carpet is now?
-
So our partay has begun?
-
Six pages so far - not a bad beginning - but let's go for the gold and get this Oscarcast in the top ten, shall we?

Paging page seven.
-
Where the HELL is page seven?

Paging page eight.

DR Jane, I wonder if you spoke to someone at your library if you could find out about which books would be available to you as ebooks. It seems crazy that you have to wait until they show up in your system. I think they must have some idea which ebooks they are going to get.
The way my library works is that it doesn't take very long from the time a title is selected to being ordered to showing up on our website. As soon as they show up, they're available to download. You really can't find out what's going to be ordered/available, until it shows up...and it's not necessary because it's so quick. Also, anyone can request an e-book/downloadable movie/downloadable CD. I would hope that you can, too.
-
I wonder what kind of gown page eight is wearing?
-
Should I turn on the pre-show?
-
Joseph Gordon-Levitt! and Sally Field!
Are those wrinkles in her dress or in her arms?
-
We need gown reports.
-
Should I turn on the pre-show?
Of course.
-
Sally in red.
-
Lots of full skirt dresses tonight.
-
Melissa McCarthy is wearing a tablecloth. And last year she looked so pretty.
-
So far, it seems to be: Jessica Chastain, all the time.
-
Jessica Chastain is curvy.....and the color of her dress is perfect with her coloring...wow!
I haven't seen anyone who looks bad yet......fingers crosses.
....well it was a pretty tablecloth..... ;D
-
That girl from SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK can't walk in her dress without a handler behind her......
-
I can't stand listening to the inane drivel of these "interviews". I remember when there was no pre-shop crap and all there was the show. We would be surprised how it was or horrified like the infamous opening number Rob Lowe and Snow White.
-
Because Richard prefers to continue his Harry Potter marathon, I'm watching the Red Carpet in my Momcave.
-
Jennifer Hudson droned on and on.....and then the really BIG girl who was with walked between the camera and Michael Douglas and Catherine Z-J....... Ryan pushed Catherine along when she asked if she should do the Mani-Cam....
Whew!
-
Harry Potter is in the opening number DR GINNY.

I can do without Kelly Osborne and her purple hair.....what makes her a fashion maven?
-
Hmmm.....the dart on the bosom of AnnE Hathaway's dress seems to be pointing to her....seems to be....
-
Should I turn on the pre-show?
If you want to see the dresses

Jennifer Lawrence looks beautiful. She said she was wearing about 9 inch heels, no wonder she needs help to walk
-
I think I may skip TAR tonight and watch in ON DEMAND and watch the ABC preshow at 8 p.m. I don't want to miss any of Seth's opening.....
-
Jennifer Lawrence looks beautiful. She said she was wearing about 9 inch heels, no wonder she needs help to walk
LOL....I didn't hear her say that. OMG.
-
Okay, turning it on. I, too, hate the interviewers or whoever those complete idiots are.

Jennifer Lawrence looks beautiful. She said she was wearing about 9 inch heels, no wonder she needs help to walk

She was standing next to Kristin Chenoweth and was at least a food taller, it was funny

Happy late birthday wishes dr Druxy :)

You know, when I was growing up with Oscar and even all the way through the 1970s, it was never this self-serving and obnoxious - with these Google tributes to movies and red carpets and people drooling all over themselves.
-
Kristin shouldn't be doing this - really. Bad, bad career advice, IMO.

Anyone can search, but only Timberland patrons can download item. Anyway, the titles show up within an hour or so after I place the order for the titles that the selectors select.
-
Paging page nine.
-
Will we never get to page fifty?
-
Since I do not own a tv.
I'm off to a friends and hopefully the kids will not hog their tv.
And I can watch some of the Oscars.
8)
-
Think I'll get my knitting...
-
Night everyone.
Mega vibes for the partay.
;D
-
Our highest posting day ever was an Oscar partay here - we had, on that gloriously wacko evening, 2,062 posts. Our second highest posting day had nothing to do with anything - we just all went nuts one day. Our third highest posting day was also an Oscar broadcast - over 1700 posts.
-
That was the first food for movie name night, I think
-
Charlize Theron - not my favorite look.
-
Wow! Charlize Theron looks incredible.

Now they have kids who represent the future presenting the presenters? What the HELL has happened here - this is a sad joke.

The Oscar Experience College Search - I rest my case. They've turned it into The Amazing Race.
-
I hope this is not a portent of the show to come.
-
I hope our other partay guests arrive soon.
-
That was the first food for movie name night, I think
Wow! Charlize Theron looks incredible.
I don't care for the short, short hair but otherwise I agree with you.
-
Hairdresser Teddy, who is completely addicted to Facebook, has proclaimed Charlize Theron's hair the winner of the evening.
-
Jennifer Lawrence looks beautiful. She said she was wearing about 9 inch heels, no wonder she needs help to walk
LOL....I didn't hear her say that. OMG.

And Kristan is also wearing heels.
-
Wae-Ling and I watched the Cathy Rigby video of Peter Pan again. I was going to give it to her, but it gives her something to do while her dad sends her over until he gets back. So I think I'll keep it here for her to watch on the computer.

No, it's just on the regular library website. Go to www.trl.org, hover over "Research," click on "Ask a Librarian," then there's a link to "Purchase Request (http://www.trl.org/Research/Ask%20A%20Librarian/Pages/AskLibrarian.aspx)." From there, you can see all the options for the requests. :)

Just switched to ABC...taped now - switches to live at 8 p.m.
And there is the most annoying person in the world....Kristin Chenowith.....OMG.....and I hear she is doing the closing number with Seth McFarlane.....didn't know I had to suffer through her now....
I MAY SWITCH to a half hour of TAR....to avoid it.
-
Of course there are those here who think Kristin is the BE ALL and END ALL.....
-
But they are wrong.
-
Now they have kids who represent the future presenting the presenters? What the HELL has happened here - this is a sad joke.
Not as presenters, they are handing the Oscars to the presenters
-
Kristin wants people to guess what's in her box.
-
What is all this CRAP with hashtags - it's pathetic.
-
Or have they figured out how to make money off hashtags?
-
There is no class anymore.

What is all this CRAP with hashtags - it's pathetic.
Social media...it's the wave of the future! Everyone will share EVERYTHING!
But I agree...I'm not a fan of it. :P
-
They are going for a younger demographic. That's the rumor anyway
-
I have a Twitter account but never look at it
-
I've been getting a lot of e-mails from Oksana Gorbachev - she wants to know where I am.
-
#Kristin's Box
-
They always say they're going for a younger demographic - pandering is what it is and it's the kiss of death because it doesn't work anyway.
-
TAR for thirty minutes back when the SHOW starts!
-
Thirty minutes to Oscars - the red carpet can't be finished fast enough.
-
Ok, it may be inane, but I like watching the red carpet
-
It's so wrong to have this show in February. Will they keep just upping the date until it's January. TRADITION, baby - Tevye knew about it, it would be nice if the Oscars did, too.
-
Good heavens, 9 pages!!
I didn't expect the festivities to start until 5 pm. I shall go back and read the posts.
-
Thirty minutes to Oscars - the red carpet can't be finished fast enough.
I'm going to watch the first half hour of "Doctor Who: Doctors Revisited: The Second Doctor" on BBC America. I'll switch over before the Oscar broadcast.

Good heavens, 9 pages!!
I didn't expect the festivities to start until 5 pm. I shall go back and read the posts.
Get to it. There'll be a test later.

Thoughts and prayers for Dolores - friend of DR JOHN G.
Ditto. And vibes of comfort for DR John G.
-
Why is Kristin calling everyone baby?
-
I'll be calling Page Nine baby if we don't get off it soon.
-
It's funny to see what we're doing here aped on Facebook - everyone thinks they're so "with it" on Facebook doing this - of course, when we began doing this Facebook didn't even exist, nor did My Space. We have truly led the way, baby.
-
And I just posted that very thing on - Facebook. I will not be returning to Facebook this evening. Emily Skinner is unfriending people who are making light of the Oscars. Brilliant, Emily, baby.
-
C'mon, let's get this partay into high gear.
-
Will we never get to page fifty?
-
Kristin Chenoweth is on a commercial too!
-
I'm wearing Prada.

The mystery box.
-
Page 10.

She's everywhere, she's everywhere

The ruby slippers!

Page 10!

Thirteen minutes.
-
I guess Barbra won't be doing the red carpet.
-
Started watching season three of Justified. Fun show. Ultra violent this season.
John G, do you find season 3 as good as seasons 1 and 2? Maybe you're not far into it yet. I just finished season 3. I felt it picked up mid-season, and when it was finally getting good the season was over! I liked seasons 1 and 2 very much. Would like your take when you've seen all of season 3. And if anyone else watches JUSTIFIED, well, you, too.
-
Oh the blather.
-
I guess Barbra won't be doing the red carpet.
Kevin, she is backstage looking for you!
-
Barbra doesn't need the red carpet.
-
Barbra's hanging out with Brent Barrett.
-
Tensions are beginning to rise.
-
Twelve minutes.
-
Belated BIRTHDAY WISHES to DR DRUXY!!
-
Belated BIRTHDAY WISHES to DR MATTHEW!!
-
I am way JC PENNEY sweatpants and an Old Navy T Shirt. ;D
-
Barbra's hanging out with Brent Barrett.
She is known for having good taste.
-
I don't MIND the red carpet....but it does go on and on
-
Nine minutes. Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
I wonder if Seth is nervous?
-
Craig and Neil. We shall see.
-
There's a rumor that Barbra is going to sing The Way We Were during the In Memoriam segment. As much as I love that song, I was hoping for something unexpected.
-
I just lost a post. I was complaining about the connectivity problems I've been having all week. Arrrgghhh!!
-
Well don't blame US blame your connectivity, baby.
-
I have to hand it to Kristin. She's doing the pre-show interviews and also performing.
-
Renee Zellweger looks awful
-
I remember the last movie producer who thought he could make the best Oscar show ever - Allan Carr.
-
When did this backstage CRAP begin happening? Is this a first? Just do the damn show.
-
This is ridiculous.
-
Queen Latifah looks like a giant next to Kristin.
-
Page 11!
-
When did this backstage CRAP begin happening? Is this a first? Just do the damn show.
At least, this is during the pre-show show and not the actual Oscar show.
-
Bye baby
-
I'm getting bored with Page 11.
-
Queen Latifah looks like a giant next to Kristin.
Everyone looks like a giant next to Kristin
-
Queen Latifah looks like a giant next to Kristin.
Who doesn't??
;)
-
Great minds think alike DR George :)
-
It's starting to begin....
-
The beginning is going to start soon
-
Kristin is the same height as my ex-wife.
-
Kristin must have some ABC series or something coming along......
-
Well, here we go. I guess our usual holdouts, who NEVER used to be holdouts - people like elmore and Pogue and the rest - will not be joining our partay this evening. How times have changed.
-
BOND is Great Britain.
-
If the show was on CBS - some from NCIS or HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER would be doing the interviews.
-
Welcome forty-seven GUESTS.
-
More commercials....
-
Good lord, I thought that was Radio City.
-
HA!
Tommy Lee is blushing.
-
It looks like Ben Affleck has something written on his hand.
-
Is Seth MacFarlane struggling to be funny??
-
Yikes. I expected funnier...
-
Wae-Ling and I watched the Cathy Rigby video of Peter Pan again. I was going to give it to her, but it gives her something to do while her dad sends her over until he gets back. So I think I'll keep it here for her to watch on the computer.
I think that is a good idea.
-
DR Jane, I wonder if you spoke to someone at your library if you could find out about which books would be available to you as ebooks.
How do they do that, by phone or online? Are these books only for your library?
It's on-line...our website is www.trl.org and there's a link to OverDrive (http://ebook.trlib.org/1FCA5AC5-A995-468D-BF02-86EF2624827E/10/50/en/Default.htm), the download service to which we subscribe. Anyone can search, but only Timberland patrons can download item. Anyway, the titles show up within an hour or so after I place the order for the titles that the selectors select.
Thanks. It was interesting to see your local website which is very different from mine. With my Nook HD I also download from OverDrive. I didn't see where to request a book, maybe I need to be a member to see it.
Hmmm, I'll have to see if I have the "ask a librarian" option on my library website. Thanks.
-
Kristin wants people to guess what's in her box.
I sped through that part.
-
And I just posted that very thing on - Facebook. I will not be returning to Facebook this evening. Emily Skinner is unfriending people who are making light of the Oscars. Brilliant, Emily, baby.
Oh my.
-
I don't MIND the red carpet....but it does go on and on
Which is why I'm recording it.
-
Queen Latifah looks like a giant next to Kristin.
Who doesn't??
;)
:) I like her energy and enthusiasm.
-
WTF?
-
Charlize Theron looks like she can really dance.
-
LOL, I think this is funny
-
I love Seth....but this was really bad.
-
16 minutes......
-
I came to join the par-tay. I love that they started the ceremony with a Sherman Brothers song!
-
Well, I got a kick out of it
-
HI Edi!!!!
-
Octavia Spencer looks great!
-
But that was the best part so far...
-
Welcome, Edisaurus!
-
Hey, y'all!
-
P S Hoffman's little boy is cute!
-
Philip Seymore Hoffman is with his son. That's cool
-
First award: Christoph Waltz!
-
WOW...I thought his boring speeches last year would keep him off the stage this year. I am 0 - 1. I chose Tommy Lee.
-
Hi, DR Edi!
-
I got that pick right
-
Hoffman's son looks like him!
-
DR EDISAURUS!!!
-
I didn't make any predictions. I've only seen one of the nine best film nominations. :-\
-
Edisaurus! It's a good day!
-
So far the so called experts are wrong! They were calling for Robert De Niro.
Actually only 6 of 27 writers on Gold Derby chose Christopher Waltz
-
That was appalling. It would be one thing if it was a short one-joke bit - but to carry it on for fifteen minutes? Mr. Meron and Mr. Zadan are trying to turn this into a Broadway show - Rob Ashford once again gets to parade his awful choreography - I mean what WAS that? Is this a prestigious award show?
-
Not having seen any of the nominated supporting actors, I can't say whether I agree with the Academy or not.
-
Here is the website for all the breakdown
http://www.goldderby.com/odds/experts/85/
-
I haven't seen Django Unchained so have no opinion - I did like Tommy Lee Jones and Arkin very much, and De Niro, too.
-
The joke is, I don't even know who Seth MacFarlane is - literally. I have never seen him in anything so for me he's no host.
-
He's the creator of Family Guy among other things...
-
I didn't get that one, but I didn't see any of them. I picked Fresh Guacamole because it sounded good.
-
Paperman (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2C76DPZzpS4) won for animated short!
-
Pundits chose right for animated shorts. Painful banter
-
Oh, I liked that short.
-
Seth McFarlane has appeared with DR elmore's friend Kim Criswell at the BBC Proms in London. There are clips on youtube.
-
Love the kilt!
-
"Brave" won for full-length animated!
-
Pundits Wrong!! for Animated Feature
-
BRAVE - I finally got one right!
-
I never pay any attention to the pundits
-
I like Reese's dress.
-
I did see "Brave" and enjoyed it very much.
-
Painful banter
Umm...yup.
-
Why doi they keep pushing the singing live aspect of Les Miz? It's been done before!
-
Did you guys like Les Mis? I haven't seen it yet and never saw the play....
-
Funny Girl. At Long Last Love come to mind
-
I am really behind in my moviegoing.
-
Did you guys like Les Mis? I haven't seen it yet and never saw the play....
I loved it.
-
Cinematography: Life of Pi
-
One for the pundits!
-
I didn't know Sally Kirkland was a cinematographer.
-
Oh my god, I can't even speak.....yup, lol
-
I loved it DR EDISAURUS
-
Visual effects pundits are:..........
-
RIGHT!!
-
Visual Effects: Life of Pi
-
I just ordered THE AVENGERS and THOR on Blu Ray.....I am very behind in my viewing as well.
-
Since it was the most visual movie this year, not surprising
-
The presenters are getting more and more embarrassing.
-
I did see "Life of Pi" and it was beautiful to watch. I love this movie!
-
DR CILLA LIZ are the kitties watching? Precious looked up during the sock puppet sequence and went back to sleep.
-
Life of PI.... Perhaps I should see it.....
-
I didn't make any predictions. I've only seen one of the nine best film nominations. :-\
Actually, I've seen two: "Life of Pi" and "Les Misérables."
-
The first cut off of the night! TG
-
DR CILLA LIZ are the kitties watching? Precious looked up during the sock puppet sequence and went back to sleep.
Actually, no. I think they are upstairs sleeping..I take that back Callie and Boo are off somewhere. Ricky is sleeping on his perch behind me
-
I knew it was a Meron/Zadan show as soon as the Gay Men's Chorus showed up.
-
See....if only Seth had come out and had been his charming self....maybe did a bit of singing.....and skipped the other 16 minutes of stuff.....the show would have been further along.....although it seems to be moving quickly now.
Why not just come out.....say a few words....introduce the nominees....and give the award.
The rest....that's what I don't like.....
-
Glad Life of Pi won those two awards - well deserved.
-
I haven't seen Life of Pi, Django Unchained or The Master, I've seen most of the rest
-
Hoping the BOND tribute is good....
Fingers crossed.
-
Why does it feel like it's already been two hours, even though it's only been forty-five minutes. I thought that horrible woman from This is Forty was horrid - but the interplay is especially lame this year.
-
I jusr realized my avatar is dressed the awards!
<--------------------------------
-
Seth McFarlane's CD
(http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51VtCJrsSEL._SS500_.jpg)
-
I have seen NOT ONE of these movies...
-
I'm fairly speechless at how bad the program itself is.
-
I simply MUST drop into the party, even though the computer and the television are not in close proximity!
Loving Seth.
I won't be posting much at all till after the show, but, I shall return.
-
See....if only Seth had come out and had been his charming self....maybe did a bit of singing.....and skipped the other 16 minutes of stuff.....the show would have been further along.....although it seems to be moving quickly now.
Why not just come out.....say a few words....introduce the nominees....and give the award.
The rest....that's what I don't like.....
wouldn't that be too sensible?
-
She looks like Mrs. Hughes on Downton
-
Am having connectivity issues with my computer this weekend. For this moment, however, I'm connected and watching Oscars.
It's certainly different from any I've seen. I'm LOVING the music being played!
-
Costume Design: Anna Karenina
-
I got that one!!! Costumes for Anna Karenina.....they were beautiful!
-
Costume Design: The critics are on a roll.
-
Aww lighten up, it's a bit boring to just see who wins
-
Jrand, is Precious working out well? Just as perfect as she seemed at first?
-
I love Hairstyling for Hitchcock
-
I thought it was funny that after bragging about the brilliant live singing in Les Miz, they showed a number that was completely pre-recorded.
-
Sort of like Waiting for Godot
-
The thing that always bugs me is they waste so much time on boring non-funny bits, and then the craftsmen who made the films possible: sound designers, etc. often get stuck in the pre-awards. Grrrr...
-
Makeup & Hairstyling: Les Misérables!
-
Ok, I agree with that Edi.
-
She's wearing her hair the way she did Mrs Thenadeir's hair!
-
I have seen NOT ONE of these movies...
I'm doing a little bit better than you, DR Ginny, but not much. I'll have a lot of DVD watching to do.
-
Makeup and Hairstyling: I won't falt the critics in this category. They were sort of split between the winner and the hobbit. No one chose hitchcock.
-
Jrand, is Precious working out well? Just as perfect as she seemed at first?
Yes thank you DR JEANNE.....
-
Pink leggings?
-
I didn't choose Hitchcock either, just saying it was funny to see that
-
I loved the Anna Karenina costumes.
-
TO make your heart feat baster....
-
For those who enjoy seeing the dresses the NEW YORK TIMES has a nice spread--by color.
-
I think this is going to be a long night
-
Shirley Bassey!
-
Nice arrangement of Goldfinger!
-
Wow! I think Dame Shirley is singing LIVE!
-
Yeah, Shirley! Great!
-
Now that's a singer!!!!
-
OMG - for me the best moment of the night so far!
-
I that the shoe tribute to Bond?? I thought there would be more songs!
-
Only had to wait almost an hour for it!
-
I love Seth's CD!!!
-
LIFE OF PI looked very tear-inducing. Is it?
-
Standing ovation for Dame Shirley!
-
I that the shoe tribute to Bond?? I thought there would be more songs!
I thought the Bonds were going to be there!
-
A great moment with Dame Shirley - she puts all of today's singers, including Adele, to shame.
-
I that the shoe tribute to Bond??
Umm...what??
;)
-
Standing ovation for Dame Shirley!
Amen!
-
So far, that was the only inspiring moment but hard to believe we're not even out of the first hour.
-
LIFE OF PI looked very tear-inducing. Is it?
Yes!
-
Tommy Lee Jones gets around...
-
The sound mix is much better than in previous years.
-
A great moment with Dame Shirley - she puts all of today's singers, including Adele, to shame.
They had to schedule a commercial there....who could follow that?
-
I like that they used the DR. NO main title polka dots effect throughout the tribute. Interesting how that conveys "Bond".....no?
Otherwise, it was just too fast cut to be absorbed in any meaningful way.
-
I saw two of the Best Picture nominees: Les Miserables and Beasts of the Southern Wild.
-
Where is DR ELMORE?
-
Where is DR CP?
-
I had to laugh when the effects guy thought the entire broadcast was about his thank yous - I think it was the effects guy.
-
Where did DR td go?
Where is DR JOSE?
-
And Shirley Bassey ..... YES!
She takes the song down a step or a third now, but from what? 1964?
Bring more of that on, please!
-
Yeah, where is CP? Probably posting his thoughts on Facebook where nobody will see them.
-
I had to laugh when the effects guy thought the entire broadcast was about his thank yous - I think it was the effects guy.
Cue Jaws Music.
-
I saw The Guilt Trip, of course. Once again, Barbra was snubbed!
-
! hour gone
-
Jose only comes here when he needs support or gets tired of Facebook. I don't care anymore.
-
"Brilliant producers." How self-serving.
-
I just came across this article: They'll Get The Party Started separately: Shirley Bassey reveals she WON'T be sharing the Oscars stage with Adele when they both sing Bond songs (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2283970/Oscars-2013-Shirley-Bassey-reveals-WONT-sharing-stage-Adele.html?ito=feeds-newsxml).
-
Tommy Lee Jones gets around...
In a truck
-
Best live action short film: Curfew. Anyone see it?
-
Hmmmmmm I got that one right. CURFEW.....
-
Another correct predictions. I think I'm getting more impressed with the guessers
-
Where are the awards for PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER.....a movie that I really loved this year?
-
Although I don't care for Adele's music, I will say that she always looks classy! How many stars can you say that of?
-
Another correct prediction. I think I'm getting more impressed with the guessers
-
I wanted the film about the boys in Afghanistan to win
-
Best Documentary, short subject: Inocente.
-
Documentary shorts. are very difficult to choose. Again the guesses were close, but this wasn't the winning chose of the majority
-
Liam looks kinda tired.
-
Documentary winner was guessed...........
-
Best documentary: Searching for Sugar Man
-
Correctly
-
DR EDISAURUS this is your category.
-
I saw a 60 minutes or one of those about this film. Very interesting
-
I kinda wanted the PLAGUE film to win.....
-
Where is the JAWS music when you need it?
-
Time for some popcorn...
-
If we can raise the funds, we're going to try to enter our new film next year. I hope that Sugarman won't hurt our chances since it's a music documentary.
-
The jokes - what are they thinking?
-
I thought Jennifer Aniston looked tired.
-
We're only an hour and ten into the show - it feels like two hours.
-
Will we never get to page fifty?
-
I think the song "I Want To Eat Your Face" should have nominated for Best Song in 1983.
What do you think folks?
http://youtu.be/BEyEL-BvbqQ (http://youtu.be/BEyEL-BvbqQ)
-
I also think the Jaws music is an embarrassment to everyone.
-
I agree about the JAWS music!
-
Foreign Language film in French but came from Austria. Interesting
-
Best foreign language film: Amour (Austria)
-
This film was a lock in this category I guess
-
Hey, y'all!
Hi :D
-
What?? The orchestra is in a completely different building??
-
JOHN WILLIAMS keeps hoping that people will be play off because he gets paid every time
-
Wow...that's really cool that they were able to do a remote feed from Capitol!
-
I simply MUST drop into the party, even though the computer and the television are not in close proximity!
Loving Seth.
I won't be posting much at all till after the show, but, I shall return.
Hi TD :D
I think Seth is cute, even when the jokes are awful.
-
Of course Chicago. They produced the Oscars and they produced the film
-
Now that's a singer!!!!
Yup.
-
Bill Ross was Barbra's conductor too.
-
'night
-
Wonder if Jennifer Holliday is watching?
-
What about the 70 years of musicals that came before these shows?
-
Goodnight, Jane!
-
Interesting, Renee is there and she wasn't a part of the Chicago number
-
Goodnight, Jane!
-
Amour deserved it - a wonderful film.
-
State of the art theater? And no accommodation for the orchestra that's a part of every one of these shows?
-
So, a tribute to movie musicals - Chicago, Dreamgirls, and Les Miz - how pathetic is that? Unbelievable.
-
And All That Jazz was horrid - I wonder if Ashford did the entire show.
-
Lrs Mis........... One Day More is my guess
-
Waiting for another standing ovation.
-
page 18!
-
So, a tribute to movie musicals - Chicago, Dreamgirls, and Les Miz - how pathetic is that? Unbelievable.
All adapted from stage musicals...not musicals originally created for the movies.
-
Suddenly, it's the nominated song
-
Oh Hugh Jackman is singing one of the nominated songs
-
I was right about One Day More
-
How pathetic to give the Oscar nominated song 45 seconds
-
I've seen Aaron Tveit live in Seattle. :D
-
I love Eddie Redmayne.
-
How pathetic to give the Oscar nominated song 45 seconds
I would assume that the nominated songs will all get their own performances and this won't count as that...it'll be sung again. That's just my guess.
-
I think after this is over.....the cast of BEACH BLANKET BINGO should come out and do the title song from their film
-
Well - it WAS an original movie musical....unlike the three we've just seen.
-
Jane Hathaway's character Fantine is dead by One Day More
-
Picky Picky Picky ;)
-
They really have just turned this into a musical theater Tony show. And only ninety minutes in. Well, I suppose one should have known given the producers that this is exactly what they'd do.
-
Will we never get to page fifty?
-
It's a shame the Academy is too silly not to give the best actress award to Miss Riva, who truly deserves it. But if you think any of those people wanted to sit through Amour, think again.
-
Kristin is the spokesperson for Royal Carribbean? Maybe last week was just a coincidence.
-
Jane Hathaway's character Fantine is dead by One Day More
Nancy Kulp will be surprised to learn this.
-
Nice dress
-
This is the part I like...science!
-
Oh he made Ted
-
Best sound mixing: Les Misérables
-
Sound Mixing back on the roll
-
I kind of liked TED.....
-
I haven't seen TED
-
Since we haven't heard a song nominee yet....except SUDDENLY....maybe it's going to be medley.
-
Best sound edited: a tie!
-
First: Zero Dark Thirty...
-
WOW! A Ties
Not since Barbra and Katharine!
-
WOW! A Ties
Not since Barbra and Katharine!
I was thinking the same thing!
-
...and also: Skyfall
-
Wow - Sally Kirkland is all over the place.
-
Page 19!
-
Skyfall!
The others all said Life Of P1
-
Bet the pudits missed that one, lol
-
I chose SKYFALL!!!
-
Lots of guys with long hair tonight!
-
When Barbra and Katharine won, Ingrid Bergman announced both names at once.
-
Best Supporting actress up next
-
Sound of Music joke!
-
LOL That was pretty funny.
-
I guess Mr. Plummer really does dislike The Sound of Music!
-
When Barbra and Katharine won, Ingrid Bergman announced both names at once.
I remember seeing one awards show where the presenter specifically said that he/she (I don't remember which) would read the first name and that person would have his/her full time, then the presenter would read the next name and that person would have their full time. But I forget what/when it was.
-
LOL That was pretty funny.
I enjoyed it!
-
Best supporting actress: Anne Hathaway!
-
I hope the pundits got that one right ;)
-
They were right about Ann
-
Good win for AnnE......but Sally really blew me away in LINCOLN.
-
GODFATHER music for AnnE's win.....is that telling us something about the voting?
-
There was no question about Anne.
-
What did Christopher Plummer win his Oscar for? I can't remember....
-
Will we never get to page fifty?
-
Oh BEGINNERS.....just last year....yikes!
-
What did Christopher Plummer win his Oscar for? I can't remember....
"Beginners"...he's also the oldest person to win an Oscar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_oldest_and_youngest_Academy_Award_winners_and_nominees).
-
I would be saying goodnight about this time if it weren't for Barbra's upcoming performance.
-
Best film editing: Argo
-
Yeah! Argo
-
argo was chosen correctly
-
Adele gets a LIVE orchestra?
-
Orchestra in the house?
-
They're trying to drown her out.....
-
Anyone noticed that when the second name for Best Sound Editing was announced that Ted was no longer around. Did they pull him off the stage? :-)
-
The Gay Men's Chorus is backing her up
-
Guess I need to see ARGO!
-
Adele gets a LIVE orchestra?
She has a really good agent.
;)
-
Fox News has announced that Mitt Romney and his wife will speak for the first time since the election.
It must have been pretty creepy around their house with neither of them speaking for the past three and a half months.
;D
-
Guess I need to see ARGO!
It's wonderful. I don't buy many movies, but I bought that one. It's the only way my parents will ever see it
-
Hi Vixmom
-
Anyone noticed that when the second name for Best Sound Editing was announced that Ted was no longer around. Did they pull him off the stage? :-)
Probably on his way to Jack Nicholson's house.
-
Adele. Shirley Bassey. One of them knows how to take the stage and not let it go.
-
Soon we'll be at the two-and-a-half hour mark. Perhaps we'll get some more musical numbers that have nothing to do with anything.
-
DR GEORGE I can't believe I forgot about Christopher Plummer's win.....
-
Will we never get to page fifty?
-
As of right now, we're in the top 20 days of posting! ;D
-
In the glory days we could go through one page in two minutes.
-
During the broadcast that is.
-
Soon we'll be at the two-and-a-half hour mark. Perhaps we'll get some more musical numbers that have nothing to do with anything.
I vote for BEACH BLANKET BINGO.
-
I liked Argo.
-
DR GEORGE I can't believe I forgot about Christopher Plummer's win.....
Actually, I looked it up...I had no idea at all. ::)
:D
-
I gotta tell you.
-
(http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff302/HHWgroup/abreadhamlincoln_zps9a347d81.jpg)
If only I had this at my booth I definitely would have won
-
Where's the Outside the Box tribute?
-
In the glory days we could go through one page in two minutes.
Maybe the ceremony was MORE interesting or entertaining, too.
-
I had two tuna sandwiches earlier, and then a bagel with butter some hours later.
-
Only about 48 more planned minutes....we shall see....
-
I'm actually quite entertained
-
Jrand, maybe you're right.
-
Where's the Outside the Box tribute?
Maybe on next year's Golden Globes!
-
Vertigo for Nicole.
-
I really liked Silver Linings Playbook too
-
Nicole Kidman. New face and new boobs
-
VERTIGO!
-
How many faces, and boobs, has she had?
-
Nicole Kidman. New face and new boobs
At least her current face looks fairly natural.
-
This Silver Linings clip makes me miss Dave Brubeck. Unsquare Dance...
-
This Silver Linings clip makes me miss Dave Brubeck. Unsquare Dance...
I got to see him perform live in Seattle! It was a birthday present for my dad. He's love Dave Brubeck for YEARS!
-
Oh dear, AMOUR looks very sad!
-
Started watching season three of Justified.
Am only on episode 4 so far. I find that it's not as connected so far and the violence has been jacked into high speed, as if Tarantino were directly this. It's fun, but it's not as good as Margo Martindale, who reigns supreme in the universe of TV baddies.
-
Good grief she looks wasted
-
Buy a comb, Kirsten!
-
Can anyone explain the appeal of Kristin Stewart? To me, she's just there. No presence at all. :P
-
Best production design: Lincoln
-
Whew! I had Anna Karenina down for that.....oh well....
-
Production Design formerly Art direction/set decoration Winner Lincoln. Though most people said Anaa Karenina
-
How about the pundits? ;)
-
Can anyone explain the appeal of Kristin Stewart? To me, she's just there. No presence at all. :P
It cannot be explained.
-
Oh HELL -- what was that theme they just played??
-
Don't think Selma Hayek liked what Seth said.
-
Penny! Well-deserved!
-
Hal Needham? That's Burt Reynolds' old boyfriend!
-
Can anyone explain the appeal of Kristin Stewart? To me, she's just there. No presence at all. :P
It cannot be explained.
Is it because I'm gay??
-
Oh no, the Jurrasic Park theme has been going through my head for months and now it's back
-
Everyone is starting to look kind of sweaty!
-
Don't think Selma Hayek liked what Seth said.
I don't blame her!
-
At least he said she looked good
-
The In Memoriam tribute is coming up.
-
Don't think Selma Hayek liked what Seth said.
I don't remember what he said. :-\
-
What is with that Kristen Stewart - if you're going to show up and be bored, go elsewhere. If you're too uncomfortable, go elsewhere.
-
Will we never get to page fifty?
-
Don't they have four more songs to sing?
-
I think I want to see SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK.
And on another note.....I didn't hear ONE actress say she was wearing Marchesa this evening......what happened to the gorge
ous Georgina (Mrs. Harvey) Chapman Weinstein's friends?
-
I need to get me something to eat...but I'm going to watch the memorial section first.
-
Doesn't seem like we'll be making the top ten, since we're at least 350 posts shy.
-
My guess is that BARBRA STREISAND will be doing the in Memoriam tribute sing THE WAY WE WERE. Se will take about Marvin Hamlisch
-
LAURA.............................
-
Still, twenty-two pages isn't anything to sneeze at. Clooney gets Laura.
-
They are plating LAURA
-
Don't think Selma Hayek liked what Seth said.
I don't remember what he said. :-\
That you couldn't understand what she would say but that she looked good so it didn't matter
-
I was wrong
-
Started watching season three of Justified.
Am only on episode 4 so far. I find that it's not as connected so far and the violence has been jacked into high speed, as if Tarantino were directly this. It's fun, but it's not as good as Margo Martindale, who reigns supreme in the universe of TV baddies.
Yes, I miss Margo Martindale. She was sooo perfect! I felt they killed her off far too soon. I feel that too much of season 3 hinges on the new baddie, as you put it. There are some interesting subplots; I think I would have liked to have seen them developed a bit more.
-
One of the better In Memoriams.
-
Can anyone explain the appeal of Kristin Stewart? To me, she's just there. No presence at all. :P
I can't explain it. I think you put it rather kindly.
-
I'm surprised that there are so few actors in the In Memoriam segment.
-
I guess I was right
-
Barbra!
-
They were carefully by saying they might have left some people out. This is the first time I believe they said this, So they won't be critized by who they omitted.
-
I'm actually glad they are recognizing more people than just the actors. It takes a village to make a film!
-
I'm surprised that there are so few actors in the In Memoriam segment.
Seriously. They've obviously opened it up to every last person like a ten-minute end credits roll, but how could there be only half a dozen or so known actors?
-
Lots of composers this time
-
Thanks for the updates, y'all. Since I don't get TV, it was great getting the results with a nice slice of reality and without the bad jokes or sloppy outfits.
-
I don't know if she is verklempt or has a cold, but she is not hitting the notes and didn't get a standing ovation
-
Did they include Robert Sherman in the In Memorium segment? They forgot him at the Grammys.
-
Another memorable musical moment.....
-
Barbra was good.
-
Did they include Robert Sherman in the In Memorium segment? They forgot him at the Grammys.
Yes, I believe they did
-
Did they include Robert Sherman in the In Memorium segment? They forgot him at the Grammys.
Yes he was there.
-
My laptop is not plugged in and it is starting to run out of juice. I may nit make it to end with posting
-
Can they really wrap up this show by eight-thirty or will this be one of the longest Oscar shows in history?
-
Yes, Robert Sherman was included.
-
Barbra steps up to the plate - and hits it out of the park!
-
Will we never get to page fifty?
-
How fast can we get off this damn page?
-
Paging page twenty-four?
-
I wonder if elmore will even bother reading all these marvelous postings?
-
I think they're going over.....
And don't forget the BIG closing number featuring Seth and Kristin C.
-
BK What will ABC show after the OSCARS?
The west coast is still in Prime TIme Hours
-
Loved Barbra!
-
My laptop is not plugged in and it is starting to run out of juice. I may nit make it to end with posting
Mine should just make it. I can always grab the cord if I have to, but...oh man, it's warning me now! :o
-
Twenty minutes to present a LOT of awards.
-
OI VEY! The cast of Chicago
-
Oi my god all the women have had work done. And they look so different
-
Barbra was great but not as great as in some of the concerts last fall.
-
Time for me to say goodnight!
Goodnight!
-
MUSIC AWARD: Life of Pi people guess right
-
Oi my god all the women have had work done. And they look so different
Not necessarily for the better...
-
Aren't they going to do We Both Reached for the Gun while they're at it?
-
THEY DIDN"T SING ALL THE SONGS!!! ANd this is an joke the way they did it!!
-
I was thinking Reneé looked different...
-
Why couldn't they do it live even if it was short bits!!
-
OKay I was wrong about Nora Jones doing it live
-
How pathetic to give the Oscar nominated song 45 seconds
I would assume that the nominated songs will all get their own performances and this won't count as that...it'll be sung again. That's just my guess.
I guessed wrongly.
-
Think Set McFarland will do a bit if he doesn't win??
-
Renee looks awful
-
OKay I was wrong about Nora Jones doing it live
I wasn't impressed.
-
Can't Renee read?
-
The first James Bond theme to win!!
-
What are people's thoughts on how Seth McFrland is doing as host?
-
DR Jose is walking around in Boston right now
-
I liked BEST FRIEND from TED....but I don't mind that SKYFALL won.....
-
They might make it to 11:30EST/8:30PST. Only three awards to go
-
I think he's funny.
-
Can we make it at least to page 25?
-
All the vocals after Shirley have been too low in the mix.
-
I think Seth is doing very well.....once we got past the first 15 minutes.....
-
Yikes. My laptop shut down just after I posted that, when it had just reported 40 minutes to go. It took me a couple of minutes to get the cord and plug it in, but it came right back without my getting logged off or anything.
I got exactly 7 hours on that battery charge. This one's supposed to give me another hour or two max, depending on how little you're doing, I guess. So, first trial, not bad.
-
They still have the top 4 Actor- Actress- Director and Picture...unless I missed something while making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich
-
What I don't understand is - if they got past the scheduled time.....how can there be commercials? Do they overbook?
-
Three? Did I miss director, two screenplay awards, actor, actress and picture? Eight-thirty for FIVE awards? I don't think so. They'd be on time if they hadn't wasted fifteen minutes on the opening, and they'd be ahead if they hadn't done all those movie musicals songs.
-
All the vocals after Shirley have been too low in the mix.
That is something I would never have known. An interesting observation
-
Yes, he forgot to mention Helen Hunts boobs. We saw a lot of them in The Sessions
-
They haven't given the writing awards yet, have they???
-
I think Seth is doing very well.....once we got past the first 15 minutes.....
Better than James Franco...certainly more hit than miss for me.
-
Will we never get to page fifty?
-
I guess the answer to my question what comes on after the oscars on the west dhe west coast. Jimmy Kimmel Live
-
Oh I forgot the screenplay awards
-
My buddy Dustin!
-
Music I Will Wait For You. by Michel Legrand
-
Oh forgot about teh writers and directors. It will be past 11:30/8:30
-
ARGO!
-
Best adapted screenplay: Argo
-
Adapted Screenplay: ARGO! The predictions were correct!!
-
for best adapted screenplay
-
Dustin Hoffman is really short of CHarleze is really tall
-
Best original screenplay: Django Unchained
-
Original Screenplay: Quentin They were right about him this year
-
I like that lots of different movies are winning awards.
-
Dustin Hoffman is really short of CHarleze is really tall
Either way, they were the best presenters so far.
-
I haven't been keeping count. Anyone have the a breakdown handy?
-
Me too DR Ginny. I hate it when one film wins everything
-
One minute to give four awards. I think they've been cutting all of Seth's patter for the last thirty minutes, and I wouldn't be surprised if they cut one of their "surprise" segments.
-
They haven't given the writing awards yet, have they???
\
Now they have
-
But at three hours and fifteen minutes, which is what this will end up at when all is said and done, it really will have been one of the longest in a while.
-
But what about Kristin?
-
Will we never get to page fifty?
-
Only two hundred more postings to make the top ten :)
-
I still thought we would see ALL of the Bonds.....I thought I read that somewhere....
-
Boy the red carpet seems a LONG TIME AGO
-
Where are vixmom and TCB, to put us over the top?
-
Only two hundred more postings to make the top ten :)
Actually, we're in the top 10 NOW!!
-
She sounds like Jane Fonda, but doesn't look like her
-
Jane looks like Carol Burnett
-
But it IS her
-
BEST DIRECTOR WON "T BE BEN AFLECK
-
Best director: Ang Lee
-
Oh...Ang Lee....I really didn't expect that!
-
Yeah for Ang Lee. That's cool
-
I wonder why they bother to show the billing blocks under the film titles? No one can read them!
-
Another I need to see
-
ANG LEE Best Director: Really a toss up between Ang Lee and Stephen Spielberg with the edge to Spielberg. But Lee won
-
Another I need to see
I highly recommend it!
-
He's going to narrowly escape JAWS!
-
Another commercial??
-
Good for Ang Lee - a job well done.
-
I don't think we're in the top ten, George - the number ten day has nine hundred something posts.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
And over seven hundred posts is nothing to sneeze at.
-
What would have happened if the show finished. WHat would have happened to these commercials?
-
And I predict in the near future we will top our 2000 post best day - our time is coming back.
-
Okay let's aim for 800
-
So, the two acting awards, then another commercial, then best picture. So, it will be closer to three-and-a-half hours.
-
BORED, Kristen?
-
BEST ACTRESS WILL WAS WON BY.....
-
WASTED Kristen?
-
Can't blame her. I'm a little bored with page 26.
-
Best Actress (and no "tributes"!): Jennifer Lawrence
-
Good choice for the song. That dress is huge!
-
JENNIFER LAWRENCE. They guess right
-
And she's wearing really high heels
-
BEST ACTOR WINNER IS.......
-
DeNiro's bored.
-
Daniel Day Lewis.
Let see if I'm psychic
-
Meryl!
-
Meryl is scratching her butt!
-
Meryl Streep...looked like she was scratching her butt!
-
LOL!
-
JENNIFER LAWRENCE. They guess right
Is she really that good? Or is it because both "Playbook" and "Hunger Games" were big money makers?
-
I guess when you've won that many Oscars you can do anything!
-
I hope Joaquin doesn't win. He mumbled through the entire role
-
See he mumbles
-
Knew that one was coming
-
Daniel Day Lewis.
Let see if I'm psychic
You are!
-
DDL seems genuinely moved.
-
He's the first actor to win three best actor Oscars!
-
What a funny speech!!
-
Good choice....for ACTOR, anyway.....
-
He has lipstick on his cheek
-
Everyone is looking even sweatier!
-
Nice speech
-
BEST PICTURE GOES TO..........
-
CHINATOWN!
-
Jack's collar looks too big!
-
Oh cool! The First Lady!
-
Oh please, what does she have to do with movies
-
Has a First Lady ever presented at the Oscars?
-
What does Seth McFarlane have to do with movies?
-
I know the first First Lady to win an Emmy was Jacqueline Kennedy
-
What does Seth McFarlane have to do with movies?
The movie TED
-
What does Seth McFarlane have to do with movies?
He was the voice of Ted in "Ted" and co-wrote the nominated song.
-
Best film: Argo!!
-
AROO!!!
-
What does Seth McFarlane have to do with movies?
The movie TED
Thanks. Missed it.
-
I'm glad Argo won but I think it was stupid to have Michelle Obama do that.
-
Haven't seen Argo but I'm happy for Ben Affleck!
-
Not my choice....but that's okay....I thought LINCOLN
-
Ben's rug looks great!
-
Id' read that only there have only been four times when the best film winner didn't have the director nominated for best director, also. This makes number five.
-
Okay what do you all think of this win?
-
Haven't seen Argo but I'm happy for Ben Affleck!
Go see Argo
-
I am thrilled with the win. It was my favorite movie this year by far
-
I wanna see Amour.
-
30 minutes overtime
-
Ben is so handsome!!!
-
Here's Kristin Chenoweth.
-
God what a stupid damned song.....
-
Now I will go walk the dog and go to bed. Thanks to everyone. I have 2% power left. this final song is a rip off what they did on the Tony award show
-
Now this is REALLY tacky!
-
Dumb. Boring.
-
Seth McFarlane's Groomer?
Is he a dog?
-
Amour looks so sad. I don't think I could handle it right now.
-
Woooooohooooooooooooo! We survived.
Goodnight HHW! The best place to be for the Oscars....once again!
-
Paul just texted me to say "That was longer than Les Miz"
-
Post #812!
-
And now, one more to say Good Night.
-
I'm going to sign off, too. I have my first Skype call in the morning to meet the producers in Europe about our next project.
-
Three and a half hours. Lord. That's one for the record books.
-
I enjoyed Argo but it wasn't my favorite film of the year.
-
I like Mrs. Obama as much as the next person but that was ridiculous.
-
Nicholson is out of his mind.
-
If we were to have another hundred postings, well...
-
Will we never get to page fifty?
-
We do have three hours to do the impossible.
-
Boring show.
-
As to the show itself - one suspected what it was going to be and one got it. I'm guessing at the two-and-a-half hour mark they cut a couple of "surprise" segments.
-
Oh, now we have to go to the parties?
-
Sandy didn't even stay up for the last awards.
-
What was your favorite film, bk?
-
I really must turn this thing off before I vomit on the ground.
-
I think my fave was the French film The Well-Digger's Daughter - loved that movie. I enjoyed Life of Pi a lot. And there were a couple of others - I'd have to look them up.
-
I don't think we're in the top ten, George - the number ten day has nine hundred something posts.
BK, this is the screen where I was looking, sorted by replies, which shows that today has made it into the top five:
I don't know how else to tell.
-
What a looooooooong show.
-
'night!
-
George, you go to the main page and click on other stats at the bottom and it opens to a page that lists the top 10 topics
-
If you go to "more stats" on the home page you'll see the real story - our highest day is an Oscarcast where we had over two thousand posts.
-
We haven't had The Well-Digger's Daughter here but I will seek it out.
-
That was in 2007 - our top-ten:
Top 10 Topics (by Replies) Top 10 Topics (by Views)
THE ANNUAL OSCAR BASH 2062
YOUNGER THAN SPRINGTIME 1929
ON THE SUBJECT OF OSCAR 1715
THE CROWING OF THE COCK 1503
THE OSCAR WILD PARTY 1258
THE ANNUAL TONY AWARDS DO 1238
AND THE WINNER IS... 1220
AND THE OSCAR GOES TO... 1183
LOLLYGAGGING 1151
TONY TIME 975
-
I'll look for it whenever it gets released on DVD
-
George, where did you find what you posted? It seems one of those topics isn't locked and I need to do that. What year is that - you see it's not in the real top ten - I'm In the Mood For Oscar.
-
Oh, that's today! :)
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Will we never get to page fifty?
-
Well, we got to page twenty-nine for sure. And there are still plenty of us here and if we all made ten more posts we'd make it into the official top ten.
-
George, you go to the main page and click on other stats at the bottom and it opens to a page that lists the top 10 topics
Interesting...I wonder why they're different. :-\
-
George, where did you find what you posted? It seems one of those topics isn't locked and I need to do that. What year is that - you see it's not in the real top ten - I'm In the Mood For Oscar.
The one in the picture that I posted that's not locked is today...that's why it looks like we're in the top five today on that screen.
-
I don't see the 2007 listed when you do it your way George
-
I'm curious what George is looking at.
-
I'm sleepy. Need to get to work early tomorrow since I've been gone for awhile. Night
-
I don't see the 2007 listed when you do it your way George
Ahh...that's it. That screen only goes back to 2008.
-
So happy Joaquin Phoenix didn't win - I would have thrown my shoe through the TV.
-
Sleepy? I've got to be up at six to announce our new titles.
-
Maybe we will make it to page 30.
-
My next project is about screenwriter Robert Riskin, who wrote some of Frank Capra's films, and was also married to Fay Wray.
-
George, where did you find what you posted? It seems one of those topics isn't locked and I need to do that. What year is that - you see it's not in the real top ten - I'm In the Mood For Oscar.
Click the "home" button at the top of each screen, the under "Haines His Way," click "Daily Discussions," then on that screen, you can sort by "Replies," but I now realize that that doesn't go back through the whole of the board. It only goes back to May 15, 2008.
-
I wonder if May 15, 2008 will always be there or if that date will drop off when the new day switches over. I guess we'll find out in two and a half hours. :)
-
Whew. . .that was a long show.
Happy that ARGO won.
Happy that Jennifer Lawrence won - I truly enjoyed her in SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK.
I don't know how Seth did as host, I was too busy trying to keep lusty thoughts out of my head. . .
Dame Shirley, in her 1st Oscar appearance showed the entire world how it's done.
Adele sang flat.
Barbra sang touchingly.
Meryl scratched her ass.
Daniel Day Lewis gave a great speach.
There, that sums it up in 10 seconds.
-
Now, td, Meryl didn't scratch her ass. She was tugging at her dress because she was walking on its train. Her heel may have caught the hem or something.
Lewis did give a great speech. I was glad for all the acting winners.
-
good night to all. i forgot how much fun this could be
-
Goodnight, Mike!
-
I agree about Joaquin, although I did think THE MASTER was an interesting film.
-
Paul just texted me to say "That was longer than Les Miz"
then he never saw the original french version done in a stadium
-
Amour looks so sad. I don't think I could handle it right now.
My mother wouldn't go see it because of a similar situation
-
What was that final number with that Chenoweth person?
-
now for real
Good night/good morning to all
-
Anyone familiar with the pianist Paul Ford? He worked a lot with Sondheim. Just discovered he's an Atlantan and I had gone to see many shows he played at a local performing arts high school, because my boyfriend was hired to play woodwinds for some of their shows. Wonder if Jose knows him?
-
What was that final number with that Chenoweth person?
Umm...and attempt at humor.
-
Unsuccessful attempt...
-

I've heard of him.
-
Unsuccessful attempt...
Yup.
-
But they certainly were energetic!
;)
-
What was that final number with that Chenoweth person?
Umm...and attempt at humor.
FAIL
-
Well, since we're
so close here...
PAGE 30 DANCE!!
-
Since I haven't been here in a long time, I should update my animal status. Although my beloved (favorite) tuxedo cat Bailey passed away from cancer in June, in December I adopted a terrific kitty from animal control, one day before he was to be put to sleep. He's a wonderful addition to the tribe!
-
I had heard of Paul Ford because he's played on Mandy Patinkin's albums, and especially loved "A Handful of Keys". Mandy gives him a shout-out in the song: "Paul Ford on rag piannah...". I would always picture Mayor Shinn when I heard that!
-
Whew...page 30. Mission accomplished!
-
I had heard of Paul Ford because he's played on Mandy Patinkin's albums, and especially loved "A Handful of Keys". Mandy gives him a shout-out in the song: "Paul Ford on rag piannah...". I would always picture Mayor Shinn when I heard that!
Paul Ford was connected to Sondheim in the 80's-90's, was the pianist in the shows of those times, etc.
-
I know Paul Ford.
-
That end credits song was awful. I'll leave it at that.
-
That end credits song was awful. I'll leave it at that.
That's being nice, bk.
-
All these idiots at the parties are saying it was the best Oscarcast ever. These people are really dopey.
-
I had to prep tomorrow morning's eBlast and test the order pages - all done and ready.
-
I'm thinking about more food, but...
-
I heard the orchestra was in another building. WTH?
-
I heard the orchestra was in another building. WTH?
True...they mentioned it on the broadcast. It was in the Capitol Records building.
-
I heard the orchestra was in another building. WTH?
True...they mentioned it on the broadcast. It was in the Capitol Records building.
The round building that is being turned into condos?
-
DR Edisaurus, I met Paul Ford ages ago when he was Mandy's accompanist in concert in York, PA.
He and I are in touch on the facewaste.
-
I got in touch with him there. We are both members of the Buckhead Natives group. I'm not a BN, but joined to learn more about the history of where we now live.
-
I love the Capitol Records building. Is it really being turned into condos? It would be fun to live there!
-
OK, now I really am signing off. 'Night, y'all! XOX
-
No the Capitol building remains, but they're building condos right next to it, big, tall buildings that will blight the landscape of Hollywood.
-
I made some scrambled eggs.
-
Just what they need...more condos. Feh.
-
I'm saddened by Hollywood. The landscape and the Oscars. I'm going to bed
-
I just read through all 30 pages of the party
-
Do I get a prize?
-
Overall I was nonplussed by the evening's entertainment.
-
The opening bit was 15 minutes I'll never get back
-
Seth McFarlane was alright...I've seen better and I've seen worse
-
I'm now strongly considering seeing Life of Pi and Silver Linings Playbook
-
Dame Shirley put the rest of the singers in their place
-
I made a Cream Soda float, which Miss Molly wanted to share. . .
-
I've never been an Adele fan. I think she's an admirable and classy person, but her voice just leaves me flat and unimpressed.
-
PAGE 31!!
-
I wish the presenters would stop trying to do witty banter. It misses 90% of the time, runs the show too long, and leaves me feeling embarrassed for them.
-
I love Aaron Tveit. Great voice, not bad to look at (for a kid) and clearly so much more comfortable on stage than most of the cast.
-
Having the orchestra off site was utter foolishness
-
I love Babs, but this was not her best night
-
Ok, that's all I had to add. G'night all you dear people out there in the dark!
-
Dame Shirley put the rest of the singers in their place
Definitely!
-
Ann!
-
Ann and Edisaurus in the same evening. We miss you, Ann.
-
Will we never get to page fifty? Are we over nine hundred postings yet? It's still early.
-
Really, only sixty-something more posts to go - that's only two damn pages. We can DO it.
-
Perhaps Arnold M. Brockman will post something.
-
Perhaps Ann will post something.
-
Perhaps td will post something.
-
Perhaps George will post something.
-
Perhaps one of our forty GUESTS will post something.
-
What am I, doing a monologue?
-
Help me out here. I'm a Jew.
-
I think Alan Arkin would be a fun Patrick Bronstein if we ever get a Hofstetter mystery.
-
There's a lot of ME on this page.
-
I had two eggs in the fridge, so I sauteed some onions and scrambled the eggs and voila - a low-cal snack that was quite tasty.
-
I think Alan Arkin would be a fun Patrick Bronstein if we ever get a Hofstetter mystery.
Have you found/thought of an Adriana, yet?
-
What is the sound of one hand clapping?
-
What is the sound of one hand clapping?
Swish?
-
You know, some kid I used to work with, who's about to turn fifteen, she would have been perfect. Oh, well. For the audio books, I have five people recording some of the books and I'll choose from them.
-
I wonder if the girl on "The New Normal" might be good as Adriana. Have you seen that show? She's a little young right now, but that's probably a good thing.
-
Swish would be my description of the Oscars' musical moments. Rob Ashford strikes again - and not enough just to say choreography by, no he has to have staged and choreographed by. Uh huh.
-
I don't know the new normal.
-
I don't know the old normal.
-
You know, some kid I used to work with, who's about to turn fifteen, she would have been perfect. Oh, well. For the audio books, I have five people recording some of the books and I'll choose from them.
Ahh.
-
I don't know next to normal.
-
Where has ANN gone?
-
She's still listed up there.
-
If we get through this page we'll be very close to the top-ten.
-
I'm watching a retrospective on Saturday Night Live. It's funny and informative...in my humble opinion.
-
Ann disappeared. Well, no one can say we didn't get close to getting in the top ten.
-
But with just two of us here, I don't see how it can happen. Maybe someone will show up and help.
-
Meanwhile, get me off this damn page. Guess I'll go write some notes now.
-
We could...
-
...do...
-
...one...
-
...word...
-
...posts...
-
...but...
-
...that...
-
...would...
-
...be...
-
...much...
-
...TOO...
-
...much...
-
...annoying.
-
;)
-
But hey, we're closer to the next page.
-
I recorded the broadcast to my DVD burner and will now cut out the commercials. My friend Margo will want them...she doesn't have cable, just a TV and DVD player.
-
I have to relive the whole broadcast, but fortunately, I will be fast-forwarding through most of it. ;)
-
The local news on the NBC affiliate is supposed to interview a couple who were involved in the actual "Argo" situation. I'm going to record the news so that I can cut out the commercials and set my DVD burner to burn the DVD overnight.
-
You know, we're only twenty posts away - let's DO it.
-
Is George still here?
-
I've written the notes and they're ready to go, so if we're going to do it we'd best do it.
-
Hey.
-
George has gone the way of all flesh.
-
I guess I'm on my own and that this entire page will be ME.
-
I have to clean off my kitchen work table - too many papers.
-
Too Many Papers - that's the title of my next novel.
-
Where the HELL did George go?
-
Our two new releases are really fun.
-
And I have something REALLY fun planned for when we announce A Time for Singing - probably unique.
-
Will we never get to page fifty?
-
Is the Pope Catholic?
-
Soon it will be Passover. I wonder if I'll get invited to a seder?
-
Well, this will actually be a piece of cake.
-
Chocolate cake.
-
Is George still here?
I'm still here (a Follies reference ;)).
-
With whipped cream.
-
Because with just two more posts...
-
We will be in the top-ten.
-
I was watching a Shirley Bassey video.
-
This one should put us over.
-
We will be in the top-ten.
And I helped! :D
-
Yep, today's Oscar Bash is now officially in the top ten. Last year's we weren't even close, so we did good.
-
And I have something REALLY fun planned for when we announce A Time for Singing - probably unique.
Can't wait to find out what it is!

Is the Pope Catholic?
During the pre-show banter, Kristin Chenoweth and Jennifer Lawrence were talking and someone said something where Kristin said, "Is the Pope Catholic?" and Jennifer responded with "Does a bear shit in the woods?" The sound was, of course, cut so that you didn't hear it, but you knew what she said.
