Well, you've read the notes, the notes were thinner, and now it is time for you to post until the thinner cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PROLEPSIS!
-
BK, I remember watching a Nicholas Brothers dance and it was incredible. I remember that I specifically counted the number of shots in the dance: three...only three times did the camera angle change. Could anyone nowadays do a dance like that in only three takes? Or would someone even attempt to shoot that kind of a dance in only three takes?? I don't think so.

Morning all.
That is all.

Hi ben
-
Interesting that when Ben Brantley gave his online review of The Bodyguard in London. he very nearly seems to say that Heather Headley brings more to the numbers than the Top 40 versions.
This is from his review:
"I won’t say Ms. Headley is a better singer, since I have no bodyguard of my own. But she makes Top 40 standards – including, but of course, “I Will Always Love You” – sound brand- new, with a voice that twists notes into unexpected, shimmering shapes."
Obviously a must-see rave for Heather Headley that suggests, if others fall in line, the show will cross over to Broadway just fine as long as her perfromance comes with it. (Not great for the show as a piece of plotting and therefore writing, though.)
-
It's been so much fun also to see that, on top of just having gotten the reports here, DR Pogue's London trip seems to have coincided with at least a part of the New York Times' Ben Brantley's this time!
I've been reading The Times London journal, and going back to the reports of the London shows here on HHW. They saw several of the same shows, as I've been seeing as the Times reports have been coming out.

Hi, Fred.
-
Good morning, all.
Oy. (But a good Oy, and a nice solid sleep, except that if my back hadn't started aching I would easily have gotten another hour.)
Onward. Coffee. The coffee is my friend. This morning, Emeril's "Big Easy Bold" K-Cups. Very good.
-
Good morning!
-
Wow, when I left last night we were only on page 3. I wake up to see y'all got it up to 8 pages!
-
As for seeing Ms. Streisand in Israel, I'd say there's a good chance I'll go, especially since my friend in England and my friend in Florida are both planning to.
-
That'll be great if you go too, DR Jane!
-
Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone!
-
For some reason I can't read today's column. It's happened before. I wonder why?

Isn't Israel's main color blue? Can Babs use some special evergreen lyrics for israel?
Love, warm as a matzoh brei
Love, sweet as a tsimmes pie
Love, ageless and ever-blue
I have found with you

Good morning, all!
I am backing up my computer, and that's raking some time. Usually, it takesme about 30-40 minutes. Seems forever this morning.
I have few plans today. I will listen to some Irish music for St Patrick's Day (did you see the dancing Google logo this morning?), listen critically to DEAREST ENEMY on the Big Speakers, make a market trip, and hang out around the neighborhood.

Funny, FJL! I meant to mention that I enjoyed your posts from last night, too!

If you encourage them they'll never stop.
On the other hand, BK likes more posts, so....
-
I always liked the theme song from "For Pete's sake" - i never understood why it didn;t catch on.

JRand! I interpreted my two dreams ALL BY MYSELF!!
Today is the church picnic. Last night I boiled potatoes for some potato salad with plans of finishing it up this morning.
Dream 1: It was 9 a.m. and I was still chopping onions for the potato salad.
Dream 2: They were all waiting for me to unlock the church, but I was still making potato salad.
Interpretation: Get up early enough to make the potato salad.

I read today's column but it took a VERY long time to load and the move from Page 1 to Page 2 was also very, very slow.
-
That's very good DR LAURA. We can use you on Monday afternoons and Wednesday evenings.
-
good morning to all
-
I too enjoyed watching the Berry Brothers clips! Wow!
Thanks to DR DRUXY for the St Patty's animated card.
Vibes for a good result for DR FJL next week.

Oh. Must be Irish.

LOL!

I always liked the theme song from "For Pete's sake" - i never understood why it didn;t catch on.
I like it too, but the reason why it never caught on is that there was never a commercial recording released. No soundtrack album, no single by Babs
-
BK
I use mountain lion and have no problems with it. It may be that I have the latest powerbook version to contend with.
-
See my quote below, ChasSmith.

See my quote below, ChasSmith.
I shall have an adult beverage for you later today, DR Laura. Just one little one.

I'm on my second this morning!

Thank you all for reminding me about FOR PETE'S SAKE. I've meant to get that one on DVD for years, and just now did. There aren't too many available on Amazon Marketplace right now, either.
I love that film, and I treasure my memories of the night I saw it from the balcony with friends in its opening week at the "Hollywood Pacific" (current name at the time, I believe). Magnificent theater -- still single screen, of course -- and a magnificent full house eating up every comic moment. Remember full houses like that?
-
Dr. Sanjay Gupta said on CNN only have one drink a day. So i guess the solution for some people would be to just pour one of those Vegas-size drinks and sip it all day from noon until bedtime. :)

Full houses are still alive and well in New york in the evenings. In the daytime you can go bowling in the theater for the very same films, so i;m told.

When I change that quote under my posts and someone goes back later to read it, they are going to think I have a drinking problem. Well, I do. I spill stuff on myself all the time.

DR BEN - Doris and Gene in LULLABY OF BROADWAY is one of my favorites!!! I love the number you mentioned. My favorite is the title number -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxWRlr431Rw
Doris wrote in her autobiography that she walked into the rehearsal hall and saw the stairs and tried to call a halt to the whole thing. Miriam Nelson (Gene's wife until he ran off for a fling with Jane Powell) told Doris that she would work with her personally to get her comfortable with the stair turns.... After it was finally filmed Miriam told her that she had only marked the turns when she worked with Doris because she herself couldn't do stair turns - and in fact was scared to try them....
Of course it isn't a patch on the original which is probably in my top five of Dance Numbers in Films.....
From Gold Diggers of 1935 - here is Part Two of that routine:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gGVryQDvv4
I love the costumes and the way the man LIFTS his partner way over his head and then WALKS DOWN THE STAIRS with her. And after all these years, I still can't quite figure out the step the male tap trio is doing....even with the under the glass shot (with no tap shoes).....
-

I remember the time he sang "Besame Mucho" on American Idol. He was pretty good.

Sister of Spanish Beauty, Kay Sarrah.

Sanjay Gupta sings?

Whew when I first read the notes, I thought the show that MR BK was going to see.....Nuttin' But Hutton.....was going to be about Rando.....glad to hear it was about Betty.

I like that!
That reminds me of my favorite Henny Youngman (or is it Myron Cohen) joke: I've been on a diet all week. So far i lost seven days.
-
LOL.....
As Joan Rivers said:
If God had meant me to spend my life in the kitchen, He would have given me aluminum hands.

DR MBARNUM my Dollar Tree is due to get some new DVD's.....maybe this is the week!

Good Morning! Good Morning! Good Morning! (3 of them)

I got to know Fayard when I lived in Calabasas. He was at the Motion Picture Home, and I would occasionally drive him places.
-
Good morning, all.
Back from Austin in overdrive. Really as a fun couple of days up there. Rachael Ray still knows how to throw a couple of great parties. Favorite musical moment was one for the old folks: Eric Burdon came out with Rachael's husband's band, the Cringe, and sang "We Gotta Get Out of This Place."
I see I have a lot of reading to catch up on.

I love this number, even with the Nazi salutes. Makes me want to curl up all day and have a Busby Berkeley marathon.

The time you posted this comment, Laura, made me think of "It's Five O'clock Somewhere."

Happy belated birthday to BK's darling daughter. She shares a birthday with my sister, Linda.
-
All you Southern Ohio and Kentucky folks: I wore my Skyline Chili T-shirt yesterday and had about a half-dozen people come up and ask if I ever lived in Cincinnati, could I get Skyline in Texas, etc. That's never happened before.
-
That does it. This time (I'll be driving over in mid-May) I'm bringing back a carload of Skyline supplies.
-
Well, it's about time to put EILEEN on the Big Speakers, start straightening up the kitchen, and begin slow cooking the corned beef.
-
Time to get ready for Fine Swine.

My friend Brian Williams is returning to the stage after FIFTEEN years, in RUMORS at the Lakewood Theater Company in Lake Oswego, Oregon, in case that's near any of the Upper West Coast DR's.
He's the man running for the senate in this clip.

Julianne Hough and Ryan Seacrest have split up. My faith in true romance is shaken to the VERY core!
Resisting "Gotta cut loose, footloose" comments (after Julianne's film) - but I think they both can find people who are more right for each other. It sounded like he was just too much of a workaholic for the life she wanted.
Yes, I followed this story too closely, just as I followed Taylor Swift's romance with Conor Kennedy too closely, and Taylor swift's romance with Harry Styles, and Taylor Swift's romance with John Mayer, and Taylor Swift's romance with...

The Dress Circle is broadcasting EILEEN at 3:00pm EDT. I'll probably listen, just to hear how they pieced together our ramblings for an interview.

I'm up after a good night's sleep - didn't get to bed till two and slept until ten-thirty - then I had a lovely telephonic conversation with Muse Margaret who called to tell me a little story about some kids she watches and how timely the new Hofstetter book is. Love that.
-
Is that THE interview, DR Elmore? The one you journeyed into deepest darkest New Jersey to record?
-
DR Vixmom I have heard of Rabbi Marc Gellman.
-
That'll be great if you go too, DR Jane!
I shall have to be content with hearing about it from you.

I tuned into this as soon as we got home from Lima and I'm listening as I post!
-
DR Elmore, is this the Greek-American music teacher you were talking about the other night?
Dolores Revelos (http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/middletown/obituary.aspx?pid=163664884#fbLoggedOut)
She died on Thursday, but retired from the school district not long after you moved to NYC.
-
I woke up out of a strange dream this morning. I would have to call it a "British" sex dream. In other words, a lot of discussion on the subject, but nothing ever really happened.
-
No. Delores Revelos was my music teacher through grade school. i was quite fond of her.
Loyce Martin would remember the name of the older teacher who died in the 1970s. She was a wonderful singer. I'd wanted her for Mrs Peachum when I did THREEPENNY OPERA in 1973. She was in THE MEDIUM with Loyce around 1976.

Well, once again, HHW sent me to my file of show and concert programs and, lo and behold, I still have one from THE MEDIUM! Was the teacher Lileka Politz? All I really remembered from that production was being Loyce's backstage dresser and trying to untangle her from the organza and Velcro mess that was suggested by the prima donna leading lady.
-
Enjoying the radio show. The interview section at the top was great, but I hope there will be more.

Missed the interview - Rats!

Lileka Politz! Yes, that was she. She was tall and thin, rather like actress Flavia Arcaro, She would have been fab in Margaret Dumont roles. She was such a sweet lady.
re the broadcast: our narrator's plot is much more fascinating that either the synopsis I gave in the recording or the original. He's pulling things right and left out of thin air, and he missed the point completely that Act one is morning, Act Two is afternoon, and Act Three is night of the same day. When he said that Barry O'Day was a smuggler and missed the fact that Lady Maude was a friend of Barry's father, I thought, let's see how he works this plot out!
-
Missed the interview - Rats!
I lisped my way through it! Lord, I need a speech therapist.
-
You can listen to it later, I believe, DR Ginny. It looks as though they've got previous broadcasts online. I believe there will be more of me (Lordy!) when the opera is over.
-
No. Delores Revelos was my music teacher through grade school. i was quite fond of her.

That made me all teary eyed. :)
-
Sorry, DR Jane - didn't mean to make you teary!
-
LOL-That's ok, it was a good kind of teary.
-
We took a nice walk today & then walked around outside enjoying the landscaping. Well, I walked & Keith pulled weeds & trimmed bushes.
Way too many plants are not doing well. The landscaper will be out this week to see how things are. The plants are guaranteed for a year.
-
Since I'm the only one here I'm going to go read for a bit.
-
I am watching some of THE BIBLE on the History Channel.....and hoping TAR will be on time tonight.
Last week's elimination was the most useless and unnecessary in the history of the show!
-
LOL-That's ok, it was a good kind of teary.
Oh good, that was a smile after the "teary." I had to enlarge the screen... :)

"A useless and unnecessary elimination" -
that reminds me of that Simpsons episode where they say "Here are the fifty gorgeous beauty queens from all around the country. We'll be back to eliminate 40 of them right after this message.'
or something like that.

Back from a fun lunch with the Staitman clan - we went to the Kansas City Barbecue - they had ribs, and I had a barbecue brisket sandwich - great, as always. I looked up the calorie count of the biggest barbecue brisket sandwich I could find online and it was a surprisingly low 495 calories, so I'm sure I had under eight hundred, and then I did my three-mile jog, so I'm fine.
-
Then I wrote all of the commentary but the last two songs, which I'll do later this evening. For now, I'm taking a break and relaxing.
-
I just ate about three pounds of corned beef with all the trimmings, and that barbecue brisket sandwich still sounds good!
I am helpless when it comes to these kinds of meats.
-
Thanks to a needless distraction, I missed the latter part of the radio program so will have to ketchup on it from the archives later.
-
During the broadcast, I tidied up my storage area, and I am very happy that it's so neat and organized now.
Tomorrow morning, I'll bring a storage carton home from Toyland and pack up some more things for the Miami University Library.
-
I gotta tell you.

I listened until the Rise Stevens selection and will find DR Elmore in the archives.

I just don't have much to say.

I finished reading PRAGUE WINTER this afternoon.

Page 5!
-
I think I will begin my next book now, THE AFFAIR NEXT DOOR by Anna Katherine Green. Has anyone read this? The author is referred to as "She was one of the first writers of detective fiction in America".
I found the book at my eBook library. I just noticed it is part of a series. Now I'm wondering if I should begin with this one.
-
I decided to begin with her first novel, THE LEAVENWORTH CASE.
-
I decided to begin with her first novel, THE LEAVENWORTH CASE.
I'll be reading THE LEAVENED BREAD CASE in preparation for Passover.
(Not really, but it's a post.)

Soon people will be sorry I ever started posting so much again.
-
Page 5 is pretty good for a sunday, isn;t it?
-
I'm not sure I get the fuss over the 22-ounce MacDonald's Shamrock shake having 820 calories.
So just have a 16-ounce shake and voila, it's only 600 calories! (Give someone else the other 6 ounces.)
("Voila' is an Irish term meaning, just don't drink the whole 22 ounces, you'll have a lot fewer calories.)

LOL DR FJL.

The quote option didn't work again.

I doubt that.

I enjoyed the first chapter of the book. :)

Keith is making popcorn again. :)

Back from Fine Swine, which was good with plenty of food, but only the judges really got to eat a lot of the pork. I wasn't heartbroken, but it seemed odd to draw attention to the cook-off part and then not really share that food with the mere mortals in attendance.

I'm sorry, FJL. I cannot take credit for showing that here. I did, however, post the cherpumple video.
That was awesome.

Just catching up after a very busy day

I am not sure what poor Mikey has done to so upset ChaseSmith

$165,000. seems like reasonable salary to me -- i wonder if anyone would like pay that amount to me

I watched a very, very strange Bollywood movie about a man who buys his young wife a demon, and then becomes jealous of it.
It wasn't as good as it sounds, either.
-
Where did this day go??? Fasted day in history.
-
of course I have no discernable talents
-
So today I wokeup late and had to rush out to church- I am so glad I di all the shopping and brought all the food for the coffee hour to church yesterday
-
had the room all set up for coffee hour then caught the second half of the first service
-
served coffee and pasties and such and then caught the first half of the second service then popped bacl out for second coffee hour
-
then I had a worship and music committee meeting
-
then went home made lunch changed clothes and went back to church to clean the church van out (we are using itnext week and it was a mess!)
-
came back home form that and discovered the Vixter had a flat tire
-
I bought her a tire inflator a little while ago so I made her pump up her tire and then went with her to BJS tire center to get her tire repaired -- it had picked up a nail
-
then we came home and I made dinner while Vixdad and I watched the Best Marigold Hotel movie again
-
homemade potato soup and bangers (courtesy of Trader Joe's) and fresh baked french bread (thank you Pillsbury)

Magnificent theater -- still single screen, of course -- and a magnificent full house eating up every comic moment. Remember full houses like that?
Full houses are still alive and well in New york in the evenings. In the daytime you can go bowling in the theater for the very same films, so i;m told.
Really? That is so cool. I wish we could bowl while watching movies out here.

Then we watched SHerlock Holmes shadows and secrets or whatever its called - the second Robert Downey one - I dozed off somewhere in the middle

Whew when I first read the notes, I thought the show that MR BK was going to see.....Nuttin' But Hutton.....was going to be about Rando.....glad to hear it was about Betty.
I thought that was Hatton.

John, do you know Rachel Ray?

Well, it's about time to put EILEEN on the Big Speakers, start straightening up the kitchen, and begin slow cooking the corned beef.
I wisely passed on the cabbage, but the carrots and potatoes were so good, that I only ate one piece of the corned beef.

They just interviewed this woman on the news that was a passenger on one of the recent Carnival ship hiccups. She was screaming about bringing her lawyer into the arguments. She had better go back and reread the Terms she signed before she boarded the ship.

My friend Brian Williams is returning to the stage after FIFTEEN years, in RUMORS at the Lakewood Theater Company in Lake Oswego, Oregon, in case that's near any of the Upper West Coast DR's.
He's the man running for the senate in this clip.

JMK is the nearest to the theater.

Hi TCB.
-
Well, I have had quite a busy weekend. On Friday, I saw Pearl Django (and yes, TCB, the "D" is silent...it's pronounced "Jango").
-
Yesterday, I ushered for Harmony Sweepstakes, the northwest a capella contest whose winner goes to the finals in California in May. The winner of the finals gets a recording contract! Six Appeal (http://www.getsixappeal.com/Home.html), last year's NW winners won the finals and got the contract! They took pre-orders for their first CD and I ordered one. When you pre-ordered it, you got a card with links to download three free tracks that they wrote themselves. They're quite enjoyable.

And today was the 25th annual Blintzapalooza (http://choose-a-palooza.com/)! A local synagog raises money for local charities by selling blintzes and bagels and books! This is only the second time I've gone and it's great. I got three blintzes (for $7) and nine gently used books (for only $15). I will definitely make this an annual tradition.
-
And finally, after Blintzapalooza, I ushered for "La Traviata (http://www.specticast.com/Verdi-La%20Traviata.jsp)." It's a filmed opera series that's filmed outside in a quarry in Austria. The other two previous shows were "Aida" and "Nabucco," all written by Giuseppe Verdi. The two leads had great voices, but there wasn't great chemistry between them. Oh, well. Overall, the production was good.
-
And that was my weekend.
-
I am watching some of THE BIBLE on the History Channel.....and hoping TAR will be on time tonight.
Last week's elimination was the most useless and unnecessary in the history of the show!
Don;t tell me how The Bible turns out. I am still reading the book.
-
Your weekend was busier than mine, George!
-
And I've now caught up on all the posts from yesterday and today. And speaking of yesterday...

Dr. Sanjay Gupta said on CNN only have one drink a day. So i guess the solution for some people would be to just pour one of those Vegas-size drinks and sip it all day from noon until bedtime. :)
How about something like THIS (http://www.amazon.com/Accoutrements-Worlds-Largest-Coffee-Cup/dp/B006W0710Y/ref=pd_sim_sbs_k_3):

I'm not sure I get the fuss over the 22-ounce MacDonald's Shamrock shake having 820 calories.
So just have a 16-ounce shake and voila, it's only 600 calories! (Give someone else the other 6 ounces.)
("Voila' is an Irish term meaning, just don't drink the whole 22 ounces, you'll have a lot fewer calories.)
I read that as, "So just have a 16-ounce shake and vodka.'

Now THERE'S an adult beverage!

Hi TCB.
Hi, Laura.
-
Good night. Time to dream about the potato salad. Or something.

Finished with my viewing, then did the Facebook event page for the Kritzerland show, certainly the irritant of every month, thanks to the inability to just click invite all on a specific list. So, each month I have to go through almost 3,000 names to check the ones to invite, about 300 of 'em. I'm going to make a new list, though and even though it will take two hours to do, then the Kritzerland list will be good to go and that will be easier. The one I have from two years ago is very small and very outdated.
