Well, you've read the notes, the notes continued, and now it is time for you to post until the continuing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PRIMAVERAL!
-
First post after BK!
-
I thought I would be first again.
Damn that TCB!
(Ah, there's the title of my next hilarious sitcom.)
-
Well, it's time to get me some sleep.
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work.
;)
-
I have a buy-one-get-one free coupon for a medium or smaller Dairy Queen Blizzard. I buy them and usually put them in my freezer for later. I get a coupon in my e-mail just about every other month. :D
So, I'm off to Dairy Queen, and then home for some TV watching.
Until later.
-
Good evening, all.
Spent more than three hours in dance classes. And no time left for anything else. Will catch up tomorrow.
-
I thought I would be first again.
Damn that TCB!
(Ah, there's the title of my next hilarious sitcom.)
I like it!
-
Morning all.
That is all.

Elaine Stritch (http://theater.nytimes.com/2013/03/21/theater/elaine-stritch-announces-final-show-at-cafe-carlyle.html?ref=theater)
is moving back to Michigan. She will give one final concert at Cafe Carlyle (she lives in the hotel and has for years and years) and then she will move to a 3-bedroom condo in Birmingham, MI.
-
later I will come back here and regale you with tales of visiting Dad in hospital (he's fine now) and directing traffic away from fallen electrical wires
-
yesterday was eventful,, hence my absence here
-
and now I must go to work
-
good morning to all

tod
were Peter, Paul & Mary considered Folk Singers?
If so: Puff The Magic Dragon, Leaving On a Jet Plane, Blowing In The Wind
-
I'm up - I was having a science fiction dream of the future - I really wanted to find out what happened but I got my wake-up call and that was that.
-
Good morning, all!
Today, I will putz about the apartment until 10am, when I will take a 104 bus to 57th Street and tranfser to a crosstown bus to take me to Lexington and 57th. I will meet one of my Dublin production team, Joe Csibi, who's been helping Paul Byrom with a concert in Pennsylvania. Then, tnight, Iwill meet mycolleague Curtis, and we will see the Encores! production of SUPERMAN.
That's my day.

from yesterday:
Re: Harry Reams....I read that he passed due to pancreatic cancer.
And I will admit that I tried to see the movie, but I walked out on it (I think I lasted 10 minutes) as I bored. It was a terrible movie. Couldn't see what the big deal was about Harry Reams or Linda Lovelace.

Vibes for Vixmom's Dad.

;D
-
Morning everyone.
Mega vibes.
;D
-
Great news, Danise. Hope the work gets done this time.
-
Can not be late for work.
Otherwise, the drama of dating a man with 2 teenagers and an ex-wife continues. To annoy me endlessly. I guess I am learning to have tolerance. What a concept.
What happened to moving to Ventura for a life of peace and quiet.
;D
-
MEGA VIBES.
;D
-
What happened to going to live performances, and movies, and dinner, and long walks along the beach.
End of complaining.
Boy, that felt good.
-
do we still have spell check ? ???

MBarnum, I did see "Deep Throat" back in the 1980s in one of the more surreal moments of my college career. The porno house in Lexington, Ky., was situated next to the revival movie theater (back in the days before video when revival houses actually did business). I guess, the porn theater owner decided to do a revival of "Deep Throat" and put it on a bill with another movie called something like "Bondage of Good and Evil."
Anyway, the entertainment editor of the paper, Alex, decided that we would review the return of "Deep Throat," so he, a woman entertainment writer and I went. We didn't leave our seats, did not talk much, but dutifully sat through both movies, then got up and left. I forget which of us wrote the article.
Alex, who claimed that music died in 1850, later became a Jesuit, if I recall correctly.
-
Have a good day everyone.
;D
-
Good news from DR DANISE last night!
-
TOD:
The Brothers Four - Greensleeves
The Chad Mitchell Trio - Hang on the Bell, Lizzie
Peter, Paul & Mary - many of their albums
Buffy St. Marie - I Used to Want to Be a Ballerina
and I am sure many others.....
-
Brothers Four 500 Miles Page Two Dance.

-
I shall now join Lanny downstairs, and then we shall have a work session, after which I shall return for a while before going to dine and see a show.
-
Elmore - Have a good time tonight. i do wish the artistic folk at SUPERMAN all great things, just hope the truly rotten to the core (towards me, obviously beloved by his fellow Encores people) video person and those marketing people who know who they are (who were for so long being so heartlessly adamant for the sake of a position that was nothing but "why should we care about something that's not our minority but someone else's minority") somehow get what they deserve. But hoping for jack's sake, for the writers' sake, taht the wonderful score and show gets a run that is their due, and the always hoped-for move - at the very least a shot at a summer run!.
-
TOD:
I liked "Blowing in the Wind" and "Puff, the Magic Dragon".
Also, Robert Mitchum's "Thunder Road" and "The Green Leaves of Summer," written by my future client, Paul Francis Webster.

BK,
Who is doing HELLO, DOLLY in DC?
-
from yesterday:
Re: Harry Reams....I read that he passed due to pancreatic cancer.
And I will admit that I tried to see the movie, but I walked out on it (I think I lasted 10 minutes) as I bored. It was a terrible movie. Couldn't see what the big deal was about Harry Reams or Linda Lovelace.
I knew I recognized the name "Harry Reams," but I couldn't place it.
He was a VERY BIG star.
::)
-
I can't believe this:
I had trouble placing Harry Reams name, but when I just mentioned to my wife, Sandy, that he had died, she knew immediately who he was.
Hmmm.
:o
-
BK,
Who is doing HELLO, DOLLY in DC?
That was my first thought yesterday or the day before when the play was mentioned. Yes-- do tell.
-
Not to be partisan, because I think we try to avoid that here:
Saw Tina Fey on the Actors Studio the other day "doing" her Sarah Palin act, and Tina fey actually was more restrained in the Palin mannerisms in her portrayal than the real Sarah Palin was at the C-PAC conference last week.
Fascinating choice. To actually underplay in a caricature. I don;t think I've ever seen that before.
-
And the word of the day is: PRIMAVERAL!
As in pasta primaveral?
Did someone already do that one?
-
BK,
Who is doing HELLO, DOLLY in DC?
That was my first thought yesterday or the day before when the play was mentioned. Yes-- do tell.
The stunning Nancy Opel is playing Dolly in the D.C. area. maybe this is the one they're hoping to see?
-
Can not be late for work.
Otherwise, the drama of dating a man with 2 teenagers and an ex-wife continues.
Been there, done that - wrote a little one-act musical very loosely based on it. The musical even got a nice reveiw in Theater week from Peter filichia years ago - Many years ago, though. :)
-
Yikes, 19 years ago, that review was in Theatre Week in October 1994, i just looked at it!!!!
We're 19 years older, Peter doesn;t seem to have aged anywhere near that.
-
That sounds like a great idea BK to make a lite version of the show for high schools. Then you can get the lyrics you want.

DR jane wrote re: the fact that they make you turn off your ereaders when they are getting ready to take-off
I hate that they make me shut off my eReader so I can't read. It shouldn't matter since I'm not connected to anything but rules are rules. I don't argue. This guy was truly rude.

Sure. The book is downloaded. You should also be able to read your downloaded books with the wi-fi off.
I think maybe what i wrote didn't make sense. I know that you can read your ebook with the wifi off. I mean it was odd that they wouldn't let you read it on the plane at certain times. But i guess any electronic device is off limits?
-
BK i was thinking about your weight loss issue (that you mentioned yesterday). I am with jogging and counting calories that it will happen.
My only suggestions would be 1) eat more fruits and vegetables (i notice you have been eating more fruit). But lots of veggies are even better.
2) don't eat only one meal a day (i also notice you are doing this less). IT slows your metabolism if you do this.
3)not sure if this is possible but prepare your own meals more. They use hidden sauces and stuff at restaurants and I think it is much harder to lose weight if you eat out all the time.
Now i need to follow my own rules. :)
I need Spring so I can exercise outside. I miss my bike!

ChasSmith and KevinH we are meeting at Bastille 1201 N. Royal st in Alexandria at six

Thursday morning greetings! First full day of spring and we have fresh snow on the ground :P
-
HA! First part of the job is completed. I decided to move my DVD's/Blu Rays to binders (keeping the inserts, covers, etc). I have finished with the Blu Rays.....whew....
I shall now go on to Musicals and Horror Sci Fi - DVD's......
-
I can do this because I never really plan to sell or trade the discs, therefore I don't need the original cases.
-
I received a nice package from DR MBARNUM today that contains....yes....MORE DVD's.
-
I will be E & T for several hours this afternoon, then again this evening. This afternoon I'll be at Tina's having a perm and this evening at Katie's discussing a book no one liked. I'll check in between events - bye for now!
-
And the word of the day is: PRIMAVERAL!
And The Song Of The Day Is: SPRING CAN REALLY HANG YOU UP THE MOST

I have done this with all of my already watched DVDs...gives you lot of new shelf space, doesn't it!

I received a nice package from DR MBARNUM today that contains....yes....MORE DVD's.
Although I totally forgot to include the Norwegian horror film.
-
DR JRand, warning...warning...warning...THUNDER ISLAND has the most annoying child actor ever cast in any film ever made!
And Fay Spain really needed to fire her hairdresser.
-
From DR Danise:
Well, he has already sent me the 3D plan of the kitchen--It looks wonderful! Now to see if it happens.
Does anyone except me see how fast things got rolling after all those wonderful posts you made? Thank you all!
3D plans, how very exciting!!!!
I had thought about the connection.
-
From Bruce:
so if high schools are going to do that sort of thing I may as well provide them with a good vanilla version.
Good idea & it makes it easier for the high schools.
-
Ah - I shall looking forward to both those developments....yes I didn't see the NHF among them, but I think I will be okay.
So far just two notebooks finished.....only about 200 disks, and I am not seeing much ROOM on the shelves yet.....of course I am doing them by genre, so they are not coming from ONE shelf or one space....

Rise Stevens has died at 99.

She was still with us? 99, though. Wow. A good life.
-
Just got to Alexandria. Driving time 5:15 from my house, no stops. Tomorrow will be more leisurely. I'll explore a bit on my way out of here. Actually, I think I'll go out now for a bit.
-
HELLO, DOLLY! at Ford's Theatre! How cool is that? However, if Sandy happens to get you box seats, I would double-think before going.

I think the "gentleman" on BK's flight is the very reason they don't make any exception when it comes to electronic devices. Some people would lie thru their teeth about the Wifi being turned off; just to prove that they could get away with it.

Back from Tina's, with a new perm. I usually try to go into hiding for the first few days, but that's not possible this time.
-
So, a friend of mine who cuts hair asked for five copies of my book to see if she could sell them. She got the copies yesterday. Today she sold all five to one customer. Who knew the positive link between hair and food? (I can think of plenty of hair in food stories, but I won't go there.)
Naturally, I'm getting her more copies to sell.
-
Hi- just checking in. We had a student matinee of The Drowsy Chaperone today, it was a totally different show with 300 12-14 year olds watching it. Quite funny, actually.
The rest of the day is book, therefore no workout which I'm not quite jiggy with, but will make up for it tomorrow, I'm sure.
-
Back from our work session, much of which I spent just trying to understand the concept of this new show and to focus it and get to its essence. We played through some potential songs, some of which I'm sure will make the cut. We'll do more of that tomorrow. We played through a few of the album choices and looking at the list I think it will make a wonderful album.

I am home for a brief break; Joe was an hour late arriving to the hotel, so I finished reading GOWNS BY ROBERTA while I waited. He arrived around noon, so we wet to a coffee shop on 57th Street for lunch and gossip. During lunch, I got a call from the accountant's office next to Toyland that Fed Ex had delivered a huge carton, and would I please come and get it. Then we went to the Apple Store at 58th and Fifth so he could purchase an ipod for a friend and then we headed down to Toyland, retrieved the carton, and debated a trip to City Hall. Joe wants to marry his fiancee there in May and he wanted to talk to them about the procedures of marrying and being visitors from another country.
I looked up the details onlne, called City Hall, spoke to someone who could answer his questions and handed the phone to him. After that, we went in a taxi to Blomingdales so he could get Joellen a gift. We then walked to Fifth, I wished him a safe trip back tonight, and I headed home. In another hour, I'll head off to City Center.
-
I am relaxing before going a few blocks away to meet with my book group to discuss TRIPPING THE PROM QUEEN, a mean-spirited and poorly-researched book about women and rivalry. As much as I enjoy being with my friends, I'm sorry to miss Michigan's first-round game in March Madness - Go, Blue!

Joe took this photo of me at Toyland today.

It sounds like you and Joe had lots of fun today.....please report on tonight's performance!

I just finished watching THUNDER ISLAND and indeed it does have the world's worst child actress in it....and Faye's hair does indeed defy description..... There is no hairdresser listed, maybe that was the problem....or Faye's hair just was not ready for a vacation in Puerto Rico.
-
Hi all! Just wanted share that I got the word that they will start on my kitchen with in the next 2 weeks!!!!!! I am sooooooo excited! I promise to take photos as it happens.
I think the place for the W/D is still a go as well but might take a bit longer.

Poor Fay Spain...that hairstyle just did not go with her face at all.
And wasn't it sort of strange to see her in a housewife type of a role?
Brian Kelly was very nice to look at, but that was about the only redeeming value of THUNDER ISLAND...at least as far as I can remember.

DR JohnG, who knew? Maybe hair salons are the best places to do book signings!

DR elmore I enjoyed the photos, especially the one of you working at your desk.

Thank you DR Jane. Yes I will have to do something with the dogs. They are already talking about having the media here while the work is going on and when it's done. I will have to put the dogs in the kennel or find a doggie day care for those times.
-
If I remember correctly you have a day care you liked-yes? I can't remember if it is close to home or work.

Yikes, 19 years ago, that review was in Theatre Week in October 1994, i just looked at it!!!!

There's a joke (from a film or sitcom?) about having seen an old girlfriend's portrait in Attica - does anyone remember it?
-
Wonderful news from Matthew about his matinee, from john G about book sales, from Danise about her progress, from Elmore about his wanderings, from BK about his work session - this hs just been a good day.
Such great Encores SUPERMAN reviews, I hope their videographer Mr. Frank rots and goes to hell for the fraudulent disciplinary action he brought, but congrats to everyone else at Encores!

Still no disciplinary news, i assume next week since not heard by today

CONTINUED VIBES FOR DR FJL!!!!!

Nicky is not doing very well today, we (I) may have to take him back to the doctor again tomorrow. He is having problems going potty. He has now had his dose of Miralax, and hopefully that will start things happening.
I guess today was not the day to try taking photos.

Awww, sweet Nicky.
Best wishes and vibes for him!!!!
-
I downloaded a library book onto Keith's iPad since it is only available with Kindle. That is becoming more common with library books. I am not happy about this.
-
I hope I won't have problems using the large iPad tonight. If I'm really lucky I'll sleep instead of reading like I did last night. My neck or hip didn't keep me awake which was a treat considering how much both have been bothering me all week.
I'm trying to spend less time at the computer, or sitting in general, as it makes my hip worse.

Vibes for Nicky
Thanks, Jane!!!!

DR Danise...CONGRATS!!! The squeaky wheel gets the grease and lots of squeaky wheels on social media get grease even quicker. Can't wait to see the video coverage!

Jane are you familiar with a restaurant in town called Cucina Biazza (sp)?

I've been watching lots of Jodi Arias. Juan is doing everything for a reason. He's got to lay the foundation for his rebuttal case.
What you want to do is lock a witness into a story - not easy with Jodi. He has to get a witness to deny something or commit to a position. Then, on his rebuttal case, he can call witnesses to rebut that testimony. If a witness denies something and has admitted it to someone earlier, you can bring in a witness to impeach their testimony, someone who say, yes, she admitted x to me before. You can't call someone to rebut or impeach if what you're rebutting or impeaching isn't in evidence. That's what I think he's doing. You also have to consider everything you do in a trial is leading to your closing statement. He's doing fine. This is the part of the case that will be the least favorable to him, but he's doing pretty well.
-
I have to say as much as I think she's guilty, I can't imagine arguing for a death penalty I couldn't say, please vote to kill this person.
-
The cats woke me up at 3:45. At about 4:45 I gave up and got up. So I've had about 3 1/2 hours of sleep. I worked at home today and researched and wrote a sentencing memorandum. I still need to get another motion written and filed before midnight. It's not a difficult one, but I need to do it.
-
After next week I'll be down to two federal cases set for sentencing and that's it. I am so pleased about it. I've been working up to this change for a long time.
-
VIBES TO NICKY!!!!! Callie takes Lactulose...three times a day. She has had to have enemas in the past. Her problems started when she was 2 1/2, she's going to be 11 in June and is doing pretty well.

good evening - another eventful day...but all's well that ends well

or so I have heard

thank you all for the vibes

And everything will be all right in the end. If it's not all right, then it's not the end!

My Daddy had to have a pacemaker put in yesterday -

VIbes to your Dad. I don't think I caught the story, just that he had been in the hospital. Hope all is well

I avoided the Gonzaga game today, because the only one of their games I watched this season; they lost. Well, they almost managed to lose without my non-help.
-
So after work Vixter and I went to see him in the hospital
-
I'm glad your dad is going to be ok, Vixmom.
-
Busy but fun day today. Beautiful weather!
-
he came through fine and was sent home today
-
Wen we got home it was already past 9, Vixdad had just gotten home and we decided to heat up some left overs for dinner
-
VIbes to your dad.
-
Back from a fun dinner with dear readers ChasSmith and KevinH (and Sandy's publicist Mona) - a little French jernt - I was very good, I think - salmon with bernaise sauce, and some veggies and three tiny pieces of potato. Then we saw Sandy's show - excellent cast and band but a problematic show.
-
I went upstairs to change out of my work clothes and suddenly the whole house shook and there was a loud explosion like sound
-
I ran downstairs to see Vixdad and Vixte heading out the front door shouting "Is anybody hurt?"
-
Hello! I'm back from a wonderful evening with our own BK, DR ChasSmith, Sandy and her publicist, Mona. We had a delicious meal at a French restaurant next to the theater and saw "Ladies Swing the Blues," I enjoyed it very much and thought Sandy was great in the show.
Thanks again, BK, for including me. And thanks to Sandy for the ticket and dinner!
It's past my bedtime, so I'll have to say goodnight!

turns out a lady driving her SUV waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over the 30 mph limit swerved to avoid an animal inthe road (or so she said) and she severed the speed limit post (the top half of the sign flew over my across the street neighbor's fence and planted itself in her front lawn)
then she took down about 50 feet of 42 inch cyclone fence - then took out the telephone pole that the blocks transformer was hanging on (that was the explosion) and THEN hit the car parked in the next neighbor's driveway
-
Lots going on here today, I see!
-
(this is last night Cilla!)
-
So of course all the lights - including the street light - go out
-
A great evening of fine company and entertainment. And there is some photographic evidence to post, which I will do tomorrow when I can size it and upload it properly.
-
There was a young woman who was driving the other way who was not in the accident, but witnessed it (she was may be 22) and she was a wreck - cyring and shaking - the Vixter brought her in and gave her some water and comforted her whiel Vixdad and I grabbed flashlights and staning on opposite side s of the accident scene directed traffic away -
-
I had grabbed the house phone as I ran out the door so I called 911 and got them down there right away
-
everyone survived except for the cars
-
and the poor lighting peopel were out working all night taking down the old pole, putting in a new one and putting up a new transformer - I peeked out sie about 2 Am and they wer still working - but by 7 Am the electricity was back
-
AND that is what I did on my HHW vacation
-
Thank you Jennifer for my copy of THE DAVINCI CODE.
I have read it before, but I enjoyed it; and I am trying to stock pile a bunch of titles.
-
So today as I am driving to work my Mom calls ame and says she doesn't know if my Dad willbe released because his was filibrating and they had to go back in - s -- I was nearlky to the office so (I pulled over to take the call )
so I kept coming in - then I thought I had better call the hospital myself - Momis hard of hearing and my dad's nurse was a man with a very thick Spanish accent - what he had todl her was that before Dad was released they had to put him ont he calibrator to be sure evefrything was working fne - so THAT panic attack was for naught
-
Mom's car had been giving her trouble and we had it in the shop - she just got it back yesterday after noon and it was running finr
-
so she went to get Dad from the hospital and on their way hom e they stopped at the pharmacy in town to get a prescription filled
-
CONTINUED VIBES FOR DR FJL!!!!!
Double ditto!
-
So I got a phoen call at the office that they were stuck in the parking lot
-
My practice is going well too
;D
-
I called the mechanic who had just returned the car and, to his credit, I only got as far as " my Mom's stuck at the pharmacy and she has my Dad , they were on their way home from the hospital.." when he interupted me with " My brother and I are on our way -" I called my Mom back on her cell and she called me back 5 minutes later to say they were already in the mechanic's car heading back to their house
-
So that was exciting
-
So enough about me
-
I am glad to hear teh mini HHW gathering in DC went well and all had fun
-
VIBES for a favorable outcome for FJL
-
Just finished watching "Shoot the Moon," which is one of my all-time favorite movies. Certainly my favorite Diane Keaton performance, and I'm a big fan of her work. This movie always feel like a punch in the stomach to me, and yet for as hard as some of it is to take, I feel compelled to watch it again and again.
-
Thank you to Jane, FJL, John G., and Jennifer. I will pass the vibes on to Nick.
-
Glad to read your dad got to go home, Vixmom.

VIBES TO NICKY!!!!! Callie takes Lactulose...three times a day. She has had to have enemas in the past. Her problems started when she was 2 1/2, she's going to be 11 in June and is doing pretty well.
Thank you Cilla. The vet suggested Miralax because she said it is flavorless and so you can mix it into a can of cat food.
-
VIBES to Nicky and to all the humans who need them as well.
I once had a cat on Lactulose, too. Stuff works.
-
My Daddy had to have a pacemaker put in yesterday -
Continued vibes to vixgrandfather.
-
I remember we had to try a couple of different things but in this case it was the Lactulose that did the job for this little guy.
-
and the poor lighting peopel were out working all night taking down the old pole, putting in a new one and putting up a new transformer - I peeked out sie about 2 Am and they wer still working - but by 7 Am the electricity was back
And did sie peek back?
-
AND that is what I did on my HHW vacation
I am just glad that it wasn't worse.

I am home from Encores! I absolutely loved every second of SUPERMAN, which was a comic strip staged with flying cutouts of Superman ("I hate people who don't use last names" says one of the villains), comic book panels, and a big nod to Hullabaloo with the watusi, twist and other sixties dances exploding all over the stage.
It was silly, campy, really funny, and it has huge heart and joy. At the end, I got all weepie because no one today writes silly so well or produces songs like "You've Got Possibilities" or "You've Got What I Need." I love "The Drowsy Chaperone" but it's not a great score. And when Mr Rob Berman and his mighty ensemble launch into Eddie Sauter's playful, sometimes bizarre, often mock sinister orchestrations, all hell breaks loose joyously on that stage and in the house. The choreography was really wonderful and the four Flying Lings were amazing dancers and acrobats. The leads were all excellent as well.
DR JRand62, the big package was the printer. What arrived yesterday, which turned out to be one of two cartons, was the toner.
Toyland is a suite of five rooms: main office, storage, supply, my office, and the office/library with all of John McGlinn's books and music.
And good night!
