Well, you've read the notes, the notes were pianistic, alarming, and devilish, and now it is time for you to post until the pianistic, alarming, and devilish cows come home.

And the word of the day is: MARMOREAL!

Good morning, all!
I slept relatively well with no ghostly activity. I will be glad when the weather warms up,though; it was chilly last night. Today, I am back to Toyland for a Fed Ex shipment of binding supplies. Then, tonight at 6:30, I, meet Charlotte for "Jack the Giant Killer." That's my day.

Just a handful of us so far this morning. Well, it is early.
-
Good morning, all.
First day to work from home. Promises to be interesting.

Someone emailed me that a photo of me from 2009 had been posted online this morning. Sure enough, there I was serving bratwurst at one of our annual Fiesta parties. I'm not the one in the hat:

TOD:
The entire score of "The Good Companions," especially Stagestruck Me, Stage Door John and I'll Tell the World
Petticoat High

Plus, many of the songs already mentioned
Here's a very odd, too-busy version of Stagestruck Me sung by some little girl named Lena Zavaroni.

Good morning, all.
First real day of spring, as far as I'm concerned. And not a moment too soon. In fact, a few moments too late, but what can you do.
Coffee!
-
Nice photo, DR John G!
I just heard from the assistant to our producer that the Epilogue and Appendix of DEAREST ENEMY will be coming soon! Very good news.
And greetings from Toyland!
-
Coming soon to you, Elmore. Not soon enough to the rest of us.
-
I must use my phone today for communicating. Working fr home takes over the laptop.
-
So I may type like a student pf Vixmom's.

Tuesday morning greetings! Snow flurries, again, in SW Ohio...

TOD:
I like all the Johnny Mercer songs that were previously posted, but my "favorite" is one that he was supposed to write but didn't.
Mercer was supposed to write the lyrics for a Johnny Mandel tune in a movie called THE SANDPIPER.
For whatever reason, he couldn't do tackle it, so the assignment was turned over to my publicity client, Paul Francis Webster, and that resulted in "The Shadow of Your Smile," which won the Best Song Oscar that year.

October, my boy. October . . .

Have I passed over something by accident? Is this JACK THE GIANT KILLER thing a running error designed to drive the Gaslit and deliberately-driven-slightly-nuts among us even more bonkers and screaming: It's JACK THE GIANT SLAYER!
I'm expecting Allen Funt to step from behind the Candid camera any second now to say "Gotcha" as if the whole world had suddenly started using "soundtrack' where they meant "cast album."

:)

I must use my phone today for communicating. Working fr home takes over the laptop.
Communicating is OK. Just don;t do any texting.

Does anyone here have a copy of Main Street to Broadway? It's a 1953 MGM film. I've found 2 sellers on Amazon but I thought since there are people here who traffic in older films that someone may have a copy?

I'm up, I'm up.

Really wanted to sleep until ten, but I guess nine is the new ten.

Sorry DR BEN.....but I bet someone else here has a copy

Exactly! :D

I've got to think about some dinner before the movie. Hmmm . . .
The first edit of the Epilogue arrived about 30 minutes ago and I've downloaded it. I'll listen tomorrow. I've been thinking about how to divide up the two CDs.
I met Sarah Brightman; she was quite lovely, but I have no urge to sit through her show. It's bad enough on PBS. Too much kitsch.
-
I saw Sarah Brightman in concert, and I enjoyed the show.....and she had some very funny patter as the evening went along.....
-
At Long Last Love is not a Twilight Time Blu and Ray, but they are handling the release for Fox.

Had a really fun lunch with second cousin Mickey Rapkin, who is the son of Leonard Rapkin, who is the son of my aunt Minnie and uncle Rube, who appear in There's Mel, as well as Benjamin Kritzer. Mickey is a journalist (very well known) and author of two successful books - Theatre Geek and Pitch Perfect - the latter was a successful film from last year.

Couldn't find anything on pre-ordering the movie.

I don't love Godspell, but I used to have the original recording. This is a replacement for a stolen copy.
-
My neighborhood Blockbuster is closing. Their prices are now down to $4.00 per DVD.
So, I went in today and picked up:
GEORGIA O'KEEFE w/Joan Allen
CINEMA VERITE w/Diane Lane
BARNEY'S VERSION w/Paul Giamatti
I've seen and liked BARNEY'S VERSION, but not the other two.

Oh, well, George, we shall have to wait until next week to feed that fixation.

Allergies were so bad today, I had to take a decongestant. I thought I was over those for the season, but apparently not. Now I feel cruddy.

If you're not too picky, you might want to wait a bit. A couple of years ago, I bought some Blu-ray and DVDs from a closing Blockbuster for as low 99˘ each! From two different trips, I bought 33 movies for a total of about $52!

It'll be worth the wait!

But first day of working from home was good, except for when J.B. started doing his dog impersonations during the phone meeting and everyone kept thinking it was a co-worker's dog in the background. The bird just barked away.

Here's a question for those of you that have seen SPAMALOT.
POSSIBLE SPOILER!
In the 2nd act, when they find the Holy Grail in the audience, is the person sitting in that seat a "stooge" (i.e. a plant), or is he really a paying member of the audience?
If he's really a member of the audience, how can they be sure he won't discover the Holy Grail under his seat before that point in the show?

Ahh...there is that. I wasn't too picky. I even ended up buying one title that I already owned, but for only 99˘, I figured, who cares? ;)

Speaking of SPAMALOT, somebody posted a bootleg video of the entire show with the Original Broadway Cast on YouTube. It's posted in two parts.
It's a terrible quality video, shot from the balcony, but it is still entertaining.

It was a work day today and I was sitting in the office absolutely freezing! There's no end to the bitterly cold weather we're having.

From DR Vixmom:
I read this as: "I am friends with three Bernese Mountain Dogs and a baby that live in the Netherlands" I was picturing some kind of updated Goldilocks and the 3 Bears

I searched his name on castalbums.org (http://castalbums.org/), then clicked on the link for his songs. It only lists recordings of stage or movie musicals, not general songs. I found a few of those on Wikipedia, I think.

Thank DR Kevin.

My book group is rapidly falling apart. We are down to eight members from fourteen. Down to 11 or 12 was fine but it is nice to have a hostess every month. We are skipping April, the first skip ever. Now our May person just sent me a note she is dropping out. I have been expecting it but I thought she would wait until after she hosted.
-
I returned to the gym today doing everything at lower weights or tension & walked a wee bit slower on the treadmill. I tested jogging for a minute and it was kind of ok. Basically I walked 2 miles in just under 30 minutes.
I have been up and down and not staying at the computer for long stretches at a time. I think my hip is better. I had a difficult night with it which surprised me since it was much better until I went to bed.
-
The taxi just dropped me and Charlotte off at 84th and West End, and I am home. I really liked the movie. It's fun, it's a little silly. One of my favorite movies as a kid was THE MAGIC SWORD, with Gary Lockwood as Saint George fighting the dragon. This film is of the very same ilk, only where Bert I. Gordon had a budget of $15.00, Bryan Singer has a budget of $15 billion. The movie plays to a savvy kids' audience: the giants are booger-eating, farting, belching monsters, a little scary, a little ridiculous, and really gross. Our hero Jack is brave and clever, our princess beautiful and spunky, and Ewan MacGregor is channeling Errol Flynn in THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER. I liked seeing Ian McShane as the kindly king, a good guy for a change, and Stanley Tucci a rotten villan. I felt I was a kid of twelve again, at a Saturday matinee, and I had a lot of fun.
-
Back from a dinner I shouldn't have had -- pizza, fried fish sandwich, cold Italian sub. And I loved every morsel of it. The carb will show up in the blood sugar. But so what? (Today, I say that.)

DR John I hope you are fine tonight after your meal.

I figured out why, since the changes in the library eBook site, it is taking so darn long for books to become available. I can't figure out how to return the Kindle edition I borrowed & read on Keith's iPad. The site has directions for borrowing but I can't find any for returning books.

My favorite Johnny Mercer song? Hmm, I suppose I would have to say the THEME FROM SHE DEVIL IN REGALSCOPE.
Is that what I was supposed to say?

At Long Last Love is not a Twilight Time Blu and Ray, but they are handling the release for Fox.
I remember Burt Reynolds quote about this movie on the Tonight Show..."It's okay to step in shit; but don't sing and dance in it." Of course, I don't think he used the word shit.

Yup...I'm running the sound board, like I've done before. Two different casts will actually require two slightly different versions. I'm not building them, just running them.
