Well, you've read the notes, the notes had life, and now it is time for you to post until the living cows come home.

Good morning, all!

i slept rather well until the neighbor above me and his girlfriend arrived around 12:15 and work me  with their stomping about. Once I fell back to sleep, I slept quite nicely. I had one eculiar dream about a fire that got out of hand and another dream about a library, which seemed to be a blend of the Miami University Library, the Middletown public library, and NYPL, and the Library of Congress; it was strange.

Today, I have to be to Toyland by 9:00. At 9:30 I'm meeting a singer, who's a friend of my colleague Curtis, about the recording. Later, my friend Anthony Morelli is stopping by.

Yesterday, I ran through the full score edits for Nos. 1-12 of ROBERTA,  and I'll continue that this morning.

DR Matthew, best of luck with your domestic situation.

Good morning, all.

A morning of blood work and tests before getting to work. Ugh.

The lineup for the Comden and Green  show sounds great. It also sounds like you could two or three more shows and still not cover all of their greats.

The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the trackpad died?

TOD:

One meal would be sashimi (and if I were dying, maybe this would be the time to try blowfish since it can be poisonous to some). But with it I would have plenty of cold seafood, including oysters, lobster, shrimp of various sizes and varieties and crab salads. Cold, crisp white wines to go with everything. And a large bowl of fresh berries with heavy cream drizzled over the top.

One meal would be a brunch with a frittata like my mom makes with ham, cheese and celery leaves in it. Bacon, sausage and country ham on the side. Fresh biscuits with plenty of butter and raspberry or red currant jam. Maybe a crab cake version of eggs Benedict and seared foie gras on brioche. A tiny bowl of homemade meusli with raw whole milk. Hot crepes filled with more fresh berries and melted butter for dessert. And plenty of Champagne and gin fizzes to drink.

Third meal would likely be Italian with linguine with white clam sauce for the pasta course. Antipasti would include white anchovies, a fresh pea salad, grilled vegetables in olive oil and some cheeses. The main course would be porchetta, which we had for Easter: pork loin wrapped in pork belly and slowly roasted until the fat of the belly melts into the leaner meat. Dessert would be a mixed berry tiramisu. Drinks would include Negroni and a lively mix of Italian whites and reds.

And now I'm hungry, and I have to fast at least another hour or so.

Yesterday's TOD:  I'm low on the Thai food experience because I'm not around much of it.  We do have one restaurant in this small town that's been very popular for its nearly quarter of a century, and since I used to live near it, I went several times and always enjoyed it as long as I wasn't burning my tongue off on something hastily sampled that should have been more leisurely sampled.  I should get back there and see what's what.

Yesterday's TOD Part the Second:

And re the notes:

Funny about ROGER RABBIT, my reactions to it over the years being similar to BK's.  Why in the world wasn't it a more immediately LOVABLE film right out of the starting gate?  That is so odd.  Well, I've got the Blu-ray and shall devote some time to properly watching and enjoying it sometime soon.

As to favorite animated films...wow, that's a tall order.  I don't know if I can answer it.  Much of vintage Disney, no question.  And for this century, much of Pixar.  And vintage cartoons, though I don't think we're talking about shorts here.  Or any other kind of underwear.  Oy!

I was at the high school yesterday and from a few things I heard, I had the unfortunate impression that the music director (who wasn't there) isn't bringing in another pianist for BARNUM or playing one himself.  Which means that Yrs Truly would have to suck it up and make the best of it playing the book alone.  That's really unfortunate because that wonderful SOUND of the two pianos will go totally missing.  It might be a budgetary thing -- they hire me, and likely can't hire a second.  If, however, the MD simply can't be bothered practicing enough of it to at least play along in a few of the numbers, which I know he's capable of doing, then that's just disappointing.  Well, I'll find out when I'm down there in a couple of days for a rehearsal.

Oh, and on top of that, I found out that the person in charge of planning and mounting the smaller scale fall musical is turning those duties over to someone else -- and that someone else is likely to return the fall musical to fall PLAY, which it was for many years.  This is also unfortunate, as the person #1 was the one most likely to be interested in looking at THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X.

However ... I'm personally taking that as a positive "sign", because I mean to interest someone around here in doing it, and a higher level local production would be one heckuva lot more fun and satisfying -- especially on the music end, as most of the venues can hire the five musicians, and it would kill me to see that compromised.

I'm up, I've talked to Apple Care, as I couldn't figure out how to get all these old mouse devices out of the blue tooth pull down menu where they were just cluttering things up and being useless.  He told me how to do that, and also how to get rid of the little blue tooth file sharing icon that had mysteriously popped up in my dock and wouldn't go poof.  All is well and I'll go jog in a bit - allergy season is a little nutty so far this year - I haven't had many problems over the last couple of years, but this year has been a lot compared to those.

So, for our sensitive types, the topic of the day can be - if you could have any meals you like in one day without any worries for calories or health - what would you choose for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Eggs benedict and potatoes.  Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles (one breast, one waffle), with some biscuits and butter, or Langer's Pastrami with cole slaw and Russian dressing, potato pancakes.   Dinner would be my very own beef stroganoff.

A Question for BK (a day early).  I was just looking around the Screen Archives website (looking for a listing for "At Long Last Love"...and couldn't find one) and came across this listing in the pre-order category:  CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG (2 CD) (PRE-ORDER) (CD) (http://www.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/24456/CHITTY-CHITTY-BANG-BANG-2-CD/).

The listing says, "Perseverance Records is proud to announce the reissue of the soundtrack to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. This is a 2-CD reissue of the Kritzerland limited edition release."  It also says, "This release is limited to 3000 copies."

I assume that whoever owns the recording(s) made the decision to reissue it, but why would they go to another company...or did they ask you to reissue it at 3000 copies and you felt that Kritzerland couldn't/shouldn't have a run that large?

Or did you even know about this?

Just curious.

Well, I must be off.  I want to go home before going to tonight's last rehearsal without an audience.  Tomorrow is our men's final dress/$5 preview.  Thursday is the women's final dress/$5 preview and then we officially open on Friday!  I have to admit that running the soundboard for this show is a LOT easier than the two previous times that I've done it.  Either it's a simple plot or I'm just getting better at it.  Actually, I'm sure that it's more that the sound cues are just simpler.  I know I'm more comfortable doing it, but it really is an easy show to run.

Anyway, be back later!

I need to begin reading the first draft of a friend's novel.  I have it on my Nook with Microsft Word.  For some reason the print is minuscule yet is just fine on Keith's iPad.

What a day!  In a fair-to-middling way.

Got some things done, but not nearly enough.  Took a nap that was supposed to be a quick power nap but it turned into a two-hour grogfest.  Got to make the evening a little more productive.

Oh, and the furnace igniter (my own name for whatever the individual piece actually is) must be dying because it now fails to cycle itself back on about half the time.  What this means is that I have to go to the basement and press the little red reset button.  Not exactly a hardship, since at least it starts back up when I do that, but the people who handle the annual maintenance contract on it will be out in the morning.  I think it's something they had to replace over ten years ago, and I'm expecting that will be the case tomorrow.  Thank the Ye Gods for the contract.  It's kind of like having Apple Care for the furnace.

I'm playing a game with some friends.  We are casting ourselves, and each other, in a movie.  Who would you cast to play me?  And who would you cast to play you?

I would cast Sally Field to play you.  And Jennifer Garner to play me!

I am curious to see who will get voted out of DWTS tonight.

To me DL and Wynonna were the worst by far.

Andy was good for his capabilties. I find his dances charming and fun. And even though he has little dancing ability he practiced the most of any celeb this week. I love that!

I was going to entertain doing an Encore Edition at some point, but didn't feel we should so soon after it went out of print, so I hadn't inquired.  This other label got their grubby little mitts on it - but thankfully the MGM guy wrote me an e-mail about it, because it was never the label's intention to credit us - so it was made part of their contract - we'll see if they abided by the exact wording I asked for.

Yes, it was good news at the doctor's today. The ultrasound showed no sign of cancer recurring after the operation last February.

Now, the blood test will not likely to offer such good news, but I won't hear about that until next week.

Watching a lovely movie from Peru called "Contracorriente" or "Undertow." A fisherman with a pregnant wife is madly in love with the painter who lives in town. When the painter dies, his soul comes back but only the fisherman can see him. And the fisherman has to come to terms with himself.

BK I wasn't aware that you made beef stroganoff!

Welcome back.  Your week must have been wonderful.  What is a Naming ceremony like?

The Baby Naming Was Done At Congregation Rodeph Shalom In New York City By A Rabbi Who Blessed Her With These Words-"Our God And God Of Our Ancestors,Bring Emmaline Into A Life Of Joy,A Life Of Goodness,A Life Of Wisdom. And Let Her Light Help Illumine The World Around Her, Strengthen Our Will And Our Strength To Help Guide Emmaline And Nurture Her Through Every Step Of Her Journey Ahead"
Craig And Heather Then Offered Emmaline Words Of Blessing.Craig And Heather Reflected On Her Given Names- EMMALINE CLAIRE. The Rabbi Then Blessed Emmaline With Her Hebrew Names:
MICHAELA- Which Means " Gift From God"- SIGAL- Which Means "Treasure"
It Was A Beautiful Ceremony For A Beautiful Girl.

Wow!  What a lovely ceremony.
