Well, you've read the notes, the notes were never-ending, and now it is time for you to post until the never-ending cows come home.

Good morning, all.

Good morning, all.
Coffee, please! Oh, here it is.

Good morning, all! The neighbor above me spent his night elsewhere, but he didn't arrive at 6:30am with the usual slamming door and lots of heavy footsteps. So, I slept until 7:15, around which time I heard him walking about.
I see my doctor at 11:30 this morning, so until then I will listen to DEAREST ENEMY and make some mixing notes. Around 10:30 I'll walk down to 71st Street for the appointment.
I have very few plans today. On the leading man front, I am waiting to hear from Patrick Cummings, who's in the Washington DC Opera production of SHOW BOAT, Tally Sessions about his August schedule, and Kyle Guglielmo. And I wait

Did not know about the reporter McCandlish Phillips until his obituary ran in the New York Times this morning. As a reformed journalist, I guess I'm a sucker for these stories, but his is well beyond the ordinary.

Good morning to all Trio last night that Susie is going to get a snowstorm on Friday yup
Of course that is not what I said using voice to text.
Here is what I wanted to say:
Good morning to all from Montreal. Last night I heard we're going to get a snowstorm on Friday. Yuk!

Interesting and disturbing article DR JOHN G.

In light of Monday's news.....my question for ASK BK DAY? Do you have a favorite Annette album or song?

In light of Monday's news.....my question for ASK BK DAY? Do you have a favorite Annette album or song?
I know you asked Bruce, but some of my favorite songs were "Indian Giver," "Mama Rosa" (the flip side of "Indian Giver") and "Treat Him Nicely" (from "Beach Party"). Hearing "Treat Him Nicely" isn't the same without a rear projection of the ocean at sunset behind you.

Wednesday morning greetings! We're expecting thunderstorms that will end the hint-of-summer weather we've had the past couple of days. I'm going to get out this morning and get some errands done before it gets bad.
-
I'm awake and ready to jet out the door. No crazy dreams last night, a peaceful rest. Well, sorta... but that's another story for another day.

Happy Wednesday to one and all! The latest Broadway Radio Show is up on this here wonderful website and ready for listening. This time it's a Putting It Together show where I use several cast recordings to put together the complete score of a musical. The focus for this show is Frank Wildhorn and Leslie Bricusse's "JEKYLL & HYDE" and we will hear the complete score culled from 6 different cast recordings featuring such talented performers as Carolee Carmello, Anthony Warlow, Kate Shindle, Colm Wilkinson, and Rob Evan. It seemed appropriate with the revival of the show just having started previews on Broadway. I hope you all enjoy!
-
Bought a lightweight summer jacket today. I didn't intend to get one but it was going at half price and it's something I needed. Also popped into HMV and bought Blu-rays of "Sunset Boulevard" and the 3D version of "The Hobbit".
-
We watched LINCOLN again last night.
The criticisms I had when I saw it in a theater a few months ago didn't bother me as much this time, but I still think that Spielberg didn't know where to end the picture. He could have cut half of the last 15 minutes, and the picture would have been so much better.

My favorite Steven Wright line is "It's a small world....but I wouldn't want to paint it"

On article I read reports that, in England, the bestselling song in the last couple of days has been Judy Garland's "Ding Dong, the Witch Is Dead" with Ella Fitzgerald's version clocking in at No. 4.
Doug R, have you heard it being played since Thatcher's death?

Just got back from the appliance store where I paid for a new washer and dryer to be delivered on Friday.
These 19-year-old ones are nearly shot. Actually, the washer IS hosed (hahaha, get it? - get it??). It's a top loader, and the top part of the agitator thingy has stopped turning, and it's been going off balance and intermittently doing the jitterbug. So, it's time to say good riddance. New ones will be Electrolux (who knew?) front loaders.
-

Safe home. It was raining like that on the way to work. A 20-minute drive took 90 minutes today.
-
So, due to the weather the Merry Maids called a 2 hour late start, but they didn't call me. It was a miscommunication, the owner thought I had talked to the office assistant when I had just left a message. So when they weren't here at 9:30 am I went to the office and called Merry Maids. THey said they'd still come today, but I resheduled instead. It will give me more time to sort and pick up. It's all for the best
-
All the trees here are coated in ice. IT's been raining this morning so I'm sure the ice is getting a bit thicker. Today we're supposed to get more "mixed precip" followed by 1-3 inches of snow tonight. It wasn't bad getting around this morning but tomorrow may be worse
-
And finally, we are off of Page 1.
-
I didn't have any coffee at the house today so I didn't get any until after I gave up waiting for the Merry Maids. I thought I was sick, lol but I felt better as soon as I had a cup. I'm going to the office this afternoon, but think I better stop at the store on the way and get some coffee. If I get snowed in tomorrow, I"m going to want a cup of coffee.

It's bizarre, hearing about those winter storms! Isn't that part of the country normally clear of it by April? We thought it would never end here, but we're definitely out of it. I just wish the temperatures would stay a little more consistent because today we're not getting our 73 because of the overcast, and tomorrow it drops again into the 50s. But...no winter crap, so I shouldn't complain.
-
Edith is irritatingly accurate about when I'm going to feel wiped out and when I"m not. She told me yesterday "you got up at 5:00? you're going to be dragging tomorrow" Today she essentailly said "Told you so". I hate that she's right.
-

It was 76 on Monday. We always get at least on April storm. Last year it came after the trees already had blossoms. So, when it froze my apple blossoms, they fell off and I didn't have any apples. The trees aren't out yet, so if the trees don't break from the ice they should be ok. It's really not that cold out...I think it's in the 40s right now, but it will be closer to freezing later and that's when it gets icky
-
Yes, icky is a term of art

Doug R, have you heard it being played since Thatcher's death?
No I haven't heard it nor want to but I believe these reports are based on sales of discs. I don't believe any radio or TV station will play it.
-
Tomorrow, PETER PAN! Two-hour drive each way, should be a fun outing.
-
And I am home from the doctor. I missed a step on my walk downtown and fell flat on my face on 73es ns Amsterdam. I skinned my knee and one finger, but it could have been far worse. A very kind young man helped me up, and I fought the urge to burst into tears as I walked the rest of the way. I do not want to become infirm.
I have several appointments to post on my calendar now.

Did Judy record "Ding, Dong, the Witch is Dead"?

During last season's "The Voice", one of the contestants announced he was singing "Jennifer Hudson's 'And I Am Telling You'". It was not Hudson's song, of course. No such thing. And it was a total hatchet job on the song, itself, as well, although the vocal was very powerful.
I have never heard Judy singing "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead". I thought, perhaps, she had done a recording of it that they were referencing. Is it "The Munchkins" doing the singing?

My Kindle passed away yesterday morning.

Oh, oh! This past weekend, "Michael Feinstein's American Songbook" had an episode called "Show Tunes."
During the show, he and his partner were seen going through the archives of Ira Gershwin when they were being stored in San Francisco. During the tour, he commented on a 78 rpm recording of songs from "The Wizard of Oz". It was in good shape and is considered rare. Even better, it was signed to Ira from Harold Arlen. At that point, Feinstein referenced Ira Gershwin's "secret involvement" in writing lyrics for "Over the Rainbow".
He was no more specific than that. I had never heard about it. Anyone know more?
-
My Kindle passed away yesterday morning.
Awwwwwwwww. Condolences.

quote from BK
Tomorrow I will finish the last of the liner notes, and I’m doing our radio show with Donald Feltham tomorrow night – about A Time for Singing and Juliana’s CD. Friday I go to the opening night of Grease that our very own Mr. Barry Pearl has directed. I’m not sure what the weekend holds, but a little ME time would be very nice indeed.
Speaking of LITTLE ME, isn't our very own, Jason Graae, opening in that show in San Francisco next month?
-
My Kindle passed away yesterday morning.
I know it's not the same but since you have a laptop, if you haven't already done it, you can download the Kindle App for PC and still have access to all your books.

Good lord, DR ELMORE, watch where you're going!
I haven't taken a good header like that in years, but I well remember it is NO FUN.
I have the unfortunate and sloppy habit of occasionally not picking up my feet when I'm out walking somewhere, and I'll catch my shoe on the smallest damned things, like a half-inch-raised panel of sidewalk, or you name it. Those little moments are embarrassing enough, but actually hitting the deck is something that none of us need to be doing. It's good that all you did was skin some skin.

A confession:
I, Ignoramus, didn't know that writer/director Agnes Varda is, in fact, the Widow Demy. Never made the connection, and that's just a little embarrassing. I shall take solace in the fact that it's never to late to learn these things.
-
Sorry to hear about your fall, Elmore.
And RIP to your Kindle, TCB.
-
Sorry you lost your Kindle DR TCB.....it wasn't very old, was it?
-
Congrats on your new Washing and Drying Equipment DR CHAS SMITH.
We have had ours since March, and you do have to get used to the idea of setting and forgetting - the machine will do the water measuring and other work for you.... Just be patient.....set it, and let it do the job. You don't have to watch it, no matter what kind of noise it makes.
-
My Kindle passed away yesterday morning.
Are you sure there is nothing you can do to revive it? Did you contact amazon's customer service? They are supposedly quite helpful when something happens.
-
Speaking of snow, I thought that we were for sure going to be done with snow.
But there is a decent chance that we will have a huge snow storm on Friday 15-20cms. The weather is supposed to be 1C (33F). So it just depends. I am really hoping it will be rain. We are just getting rid of the snow. And I really wanted to take my bike out next week.
:(

DR Elmore, be careful my friend! Bloody and bruised are not your colors!

I think that's exactly what I did. I suspect it's a motor thing left over from the crushed spinal discs repaired in 1999. Several months ago, I fell up the steps coming out of the subway. Again, no damage but it scared the hell out of me.
-
DR Elmore, be careful my friend! Bloody and bruised are not your colors!
I am much better at smiting than being smote.
-
Sorry you lost your Kindle DR TCB.....it wasn't very old, was it?
Since our DR TCB is older than some redwoods, I suspect the kindle was quite young in comparison.
-
DR Elmore - do you wear bifocals? Falling twice up stairs makes me wonder if that could be part of the problem. Take care!
-
Thanks DR John G. I didn't even know Costco sold fresh mushrooms.

I would hope not. I've been surprised to read of the celebrations over her death. She has been retired for a long time I think celebrating is wrong.

Sorry. Will you be getting another one?

Better at smiting...and being smitten?
-
Sorry you lost your Kindle DR TCB.....it wasn't very old, was it?
No, it wasn't. It must have been the Sympathetic/Empathic model. It attuned itself to TCB's moods and aches/pains.
Were you there for the passing, TCB, or was it overnight in its sleep?
-
and I fought the urge to burst into tears as I walked the rest of the way. I do not want to become infirm.

I do, too. Been there, etc. It kind of shakes your world for a while.

And speaking of Demy, the two movies I ordered got here: THE PIED PIPER and BAY OF ANGELS. Both look really interesting, for wholly different reasons. Got to get into one of these tonight.
-
But before getting into anything, I have to get ready shortly to drop in during visitation hours for our beloved vet, Dr. Nero. Not looking forward to this sadness one bit. And yet, it's necessary. I and many other people need to have this moment, and be able to move on.

India's new entry on the Dracula movie -scene is DRACULA 2012 (which released this last February...of course, one would wonder why they didn't title it DRACULA 2013),

Yesterday morning Keith woke me up with a rare treat, a beautiful sunrise. Normally the red sky is slightly to the right of this one. I wish I had it on video as the moving clouds were dramatic. After watching for 5 minutes I realized I still had time to catch the last of the red sky with my camera.

Last night we watched a Blue-Ray of LIFE OF PI. I knew I would love this movie version. I thought it was better than the book.

Back from the funeral home, where you could almost swear half the town turned out. But this guy was special. It was a good experience, lots of people to meet and talk with, great pictures to see, etc. And it's interesting how this happens, but people were leaving in far better shape than the way they came in. I guess there's a reason people need to get together, even briefly, in the sad times. Starts the healing.
-
Glad the ceremony went well, DR ChaSmith.

There is no way that I am going to miss that Indian DRACULA movie...no way.

DR JRand, I think that Dracula's muscles shield him from the sunlight.

Here comes the storm! I just heard the thunder.

Did a three-mile jog, then had a bunch of packaging related stuff to do - track titles, etc. but not starting on new liner notes yet - hopefully tonight. Picked up a couple of packages, then made myself two hamburgers - calorie total, seven hundred twenty calories for both so not bad. I also got a lot of fruit to snack on.

Meanwhile, it's 83 here in the DC area. I'm sure it was higher earlier, but I don't know exactly what temperature. It's supposed to be more seasonal on the weekend--in the 60's. Sounds good to me. I'm in no hurry for summer.

Ron, I don't recall any mention of Gershwin, but "Broadway/ Hollywood Leg:Harburg/ Harnick" is available at Netflix (disc only). I found the interviews quite interesting. Harberg sings OVER THE RAINBOW on it, as well as other songs.
-
And another lovely review for last Sunday's show:
http://www.edgeonthenet.com/index.php?ch=entertainment&sc=music&sc2=reviews&sc3=performance&id=142813
Better than lovely, it is great! :)
Yes, it's a rave!
Agreed. How much did you pay them? ;)
-
But before getting into anything, I have to get ready shortly to drop in during visitation hours for our beloved vet, Dr. Nero. Not looking forward to this sadness one bit. And yet, it's necessary. I and many other people need to have this moment, and be able to move on.
Agreed. I'm also one of them.

India's new entry on the Dracula movie -scene is DRACULA 2012 (which released this last February...of course, one would wonder why they didn't title it DRACULA 2013),
But.....it seems that their Dracula works out ;)
OMG. It's so funny. It has "Must Miss" all over it!
Couldn't have phrased it better, Elmore.
Ditto. Not my idea of Dracula.
-
DR elmore :-* :) We are just relieved you are ok.
Same here, Larry!
Awww! Thank you, both!
-
What's that vampire doing out in the daytime?
Exactly!
-
Larry, sorry you were hurt and shook up. I'm glad it wasn't worse. I think Ginny's point is a good one.
-
Jane, you live in a lovely part of the country. So many wonderful views!
-
TTFN.
-
Thank you DR Jeanne.
-
Larry, sorry you were hurt and shook up. I'm glad it wasn't worse. I think Ginny's point is a good one.
I don't think it's a bifocal problem. I think it's motor coordination.
-
Last night we watched a Blue-Ray of LIFE OF PI. I knew I would love this movie version. I thought it was better than the book.
I watched the dvd of this last week. I loved Richard Parker but for some reason I thought he and the boy were going to peacefully ride on the boat together.
-
Dear Larry, I'm (we) glad you were not hurt in your fall.
-
DR Jennifer that might have been boring ;)
-
'night

Well, this is a pretty cool story...Korean twin sisters separated at birth find each other via Facebook (http://americablog.com/2013/04/korean-twin-sisters-separated-at-birth-find-each-other-via-facebook.html)!
-
So, due to the weather the Merry Maids called a 2 hour late start, but they didn't call me. It was a miscommunication, the owner thought I had talked to the office assistant when I had just left a message. So when they weren't here at 9:30 am I went to the office and called Merry Maids. THey said they'd still come today, but I resheduled instead. It will give me more time to sort and pick up. It's all for the best
You and my mother. She would always run around cleaning everything before the cleaning girl arrived.

We have gotten down close to freezing on a couple of nights this last week. This afternoon the wind was really blowing, but it was clear and beautiful out. I went out to lunch with some old actors down at Anthony's at Point Defiance. If that sounds familiar Jane, it is because that is where you and George and Keith and I had lunch.
-
And I am home from the doctor.
Oh damn, Lar, I hope you are okay! Health vibes
-
Congrats on the great reviews, Bruce.

BK how goes gthe auditions for the book?
-
Chas I believe I have been remiss in sending my condolences on the loss of your vet and friend. I am glad the visitation was able to bring you some sense of healing
-
Great review, BK. But when did "I Can Cook, Too" end up in "On the 20th Century"?
-
OK, who ever thought of pairing up Carol Channing and the Association?

Jason should be a hoot.
My friends Sharry and Micheal are going down to see the show and so they can go out and play with Jason.
-
My Kindle passed away yesterday morning.
I know it's not the same but since you have a laptop, if you haven't already done it, you can download the Kindle App for PC and still have access to all your books.
Thanks, Ben. I wonder if I buy a new one if they will load all of my books on to it?
-
My Kindle passed away yesterday morning.
Oh, dear, DR TCB, how did that happen?
I am not sure. I went to turn it on and there was one of the regular off pictures (Charles Dickins) with a second picture shadowed over the top half of the screen, I turned it on, but the shadow remained. I reset it holding the on button for twenty seconds; it reset but the shadow remains.
-
My Kindle passed away yesterday morning.
Oh, dear, DR TCB, how did that happen?
Sexting.
Puh-leez!
-
Sorry you lost your Kindle DR TCB.....it wasn't very old, was it?
I think I bought it in 2009.
-
Sorry you lost your Kindle DR TCB.....it wasn't very old, was it?
Since our DR TCB is older than some redwoods, I suspect the kindle was quite young in comparison.
Be careful, or I will show you my tree rings!

Auditions are coming in. The one gal I was kind of pulling for didn't do so well this time around - sounded tired and unfocused and fumfering all over the place - but I have a feeling about her, and she knew exactly what I meant - so, she's going to do another pass this weekend. She's in Barry Pearl's production of Grease so she just needs to get past tech week. One of the two I heard today was very good - I'd have to work with her a bit on certain things, but so far she is the only person who's done Patrick Bronstein and made me laugh.
-
Sorry you lost your Kindle DR TCB.....it wasn't very old, was it?
No, it wasn't. It must have been the Sympathetic/Empathic model. It attuned itself to TCB's moods and aches/pains.
Were you there for the passing, TCB, or was it overnight in its sleep?
No, it was while it slept. I have put it in a shoebox, but I don't have a flower bed to bury it.
-
TCB I am sorry to hear about your kindle - is there no recourse?
I don't think so. It is just really bad timing. I had been loading a lot of books recently.
-
Just received from Amazon...DR Druxy's very own "The Hollywood Legends: Ten Plays About Eleven Fabulous People (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1482725673/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)"!
:D
Oh yes, I forgot to mention that my copy arrived yesterday.

Red sky at night,
Sailors delight.
Red sky at morning,
sailors take warning
-
Thank you, all, for the kind thoughts.
I feel really bad accepting condolences for my Kindle, when we should be thanking our higher power that elmore was not hurt.
-
And another lovely review for last Sunday's show:
http://www.edgeonthenet.com/index.php?ch=entertainment&sc=music&sc2=reviews&sc3=performance&id=142813
Congratulations! I will have to read it tomorrow because my laptop is being stubborn.

Are Korean twins similar to Siamese twins?
-
The Vixter and I tried a new restaurant tonight - The Texas Roadhouse --- really nice steak s
We have one of those here
-
Is it snowing there, Cilla?
-
I better get to sleep. It's supposed to be snowing outside according to all reports, but from my recliner looking at the street light, I can't see it. So I'll take a gander out the window then mosey up to bed. I'm doing a training for DHS and juvenile probation officers tomorrow on immigration issues for kids. I better get my beauty sleep, lol

OK, who ever thought of pairing up Carol Channing and the Association?

She certainly can move!
