Well, you've read the notes, the notes were heaven and can't wait, and now it is time for you to post until the heavenly cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CHUFFED!
-
First again?
But I think I know why this time. This site ain't a-movin' this morning. It's taking me about a minute to display each page in the discussion board area. My first time to experience this.
-
Good morning, all.
A strange night of sleep and other things...the other things being spam calls on my cell phone, for which I had to start learning how to block them, or shut the phone down for the night. I can't believe this function isn't built into the phone, but you apparently have to download one of any number (a huge number) of apps. I took one I saw recommended in a few different places, and so far, all seems to be well. Will check that out thoroughly today, probably stopping by the Verizon store to make sure I understand all of this correctly. Oy!
Coffee!
-
Okay, now things are moving along just fine.

Vibes that the site gets moving!
Good morning, Chas!

Okay, now things are moving along just fine.
Great, those vibes really work. :)

Good morning, all! I had too many weird dreams, populated with folk of whom I am not too fond, so they were all rather tense dreams last night, and the last one had something to do with one of my goddaughters, summer theatre, and a production whose title I have forgotten since I woke at 7:00am.
Yesterday afternoon I watched Danny deVito's film of MATILDA, which I'd not seen in about 10 years. I laughed quite a bit. I am apathetic about the musical version; how can anyone replace Pam Ferris as Miss Trunchbull, Olympic javelin thrower? Then, last night I watched the 1980s BBC version of NORTHANGER ABBEY with Peter Firth. It had good moments, including some gothic fantasy sequences that were both frightening and funny, but a very strange ending, which seemed to make the book's finish another fantasy sequence. I think today, if nothing else comes up, I'll watch the 2007 BBC version.
I may see my friend Bruce Pomahac today, depending on his schedule. Otherwise, the day is open to whatever.
-
Good morning, all.
Very tired this morning. And a busy day ahead.
-
Good morning to all.
So glad to be back home in florida
-
Thanx to DR VIXMOM for the wonderful PIPPIN photos and the link! And of course for the PIPPIN report. For some reason, I wanted to hear it last night, so I played my OBC CD.
And yes, congrats to DR CILLA LIZ on her selection!!!
Nicky is such a pretty cat!
-
Today is the day that I go see THE HERBAL BED. I know I will enjoy seeing my friends.....I am not too sure about the play, but the Director isn't one to make crazy choices, so it must have some merit.
I know DR ELMORE said he enjoyed the play in London....so that makes me more comfortable about what I am going to see.
-
I Love THE MUSIC BOX Theatre!!! We saw BLOOD BROTHERS there with the Cassidy boys and Petula Clark!!!
-
I think....
-
Today's notes' title is so appropriate for me last night
as I and among many other in the plane I was in and the plane the almost hit us could have recreated that scene from the movie where Joe meets Mr. Jordan or perhaps from the movie Millennium from 1989 (Where we would survive but sometime in the future)
The plane had just descend to 998ft and the plane's engines started to rev and we started a rapid climb. I told the flight attendants sitting two row in front me that's not good. They looked out the window and could see the other plane. I looked out and saw it too. It was out there just a little to close for comfort. I'm glad the pilot was on his game and not wanting just to land the plane as we were already behind schedule.
We climbed to over 3000ft and circled around a bit before we may our successful second attempt to land.
One of the flight attended tried to make light it and was actually reading from an prepared script (I could see her doing it) because instead of saying Fort Lauderdale she said Orlando. She made light of this gaff.
Once the plane was on the ground the pilot came on over the PA and explained what happened slightly sugar coated of course. But those who fly enough and have experience similar situations before know what actually happens in these situations. But this was the first that I actually could see how close the other plane was to colliding with us.
By standard joke is: "My whole life flashed in front of me, but I wasn't in it" but I really need to update to something like "My whole life flashed in front of me, but it was Channing Tatum's and I realized how lucky that bastard is"
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Late morning for me.
I didn't get up late but I spent the early morning (from 4:30am) transferring CDs to my media player. I'm now done and we will have breakfast.
-
Nice PIPPIN photos DR Vixmom. Glad you both liked it!
-
DR Mike, wow that sounds so scary. Glad everything worked out okay!
-
Good morning!
-
BK,
I do enjoy HEAVEN CAN WAIT, but I like HERE COMES MR. JORDAN better...particularly Jimmy Gleason as Max Corkle, the manager, and Donald MacBride as the police inspector.
-

I know DR ELMORE said he enjoyed the play in London....so that makes me more comfortable about what I am going to see.
It's about Shakespeare's daughter, and, if I remember correctly, a charge of witchcraft. I liked it very much. It was beautifully staged in London, and the Broadway production was not so good, although my friend Simon Jones was.
-
I am very happy for our DR cillaliz! I read the news first, I think, on the dread Facebook.
-
I Love THE MUSIC BOX Theatre!!! We saw BLOOD BROTHERS there with the Cassidy boys and Petula Clark!!!
Are you sure it wasn't Helen Reddy?
-
Scary story, Mike. Glad you landed safely.
-
I Love THE MUSIC BOX Theatre!!! We saw BLOOD BROTHERS there with the Cassidy boys and Petula Clark!!!
I saw the most hilarious production of "Hay Fever" there with Rosemary Harris, Charles Kimbrough and Deborah Rush among a cast of perfect clowns. It was one of the most insanely joyous afternoons I've ever spent in the theater.
-
I always liked the score to "Heaven Can Wait," too, and will be glad if and when it is released.
-
DR FJL - I am SURE it was Petula Clark.
-
Very scary DR MIKE.
-
Off to college.....
-
DR DRUXY I forgot Ft. Wayne had an airport.
-
Thank you for the kind words about my photos - I hope I didn;t put anybody into wide screen
-
I will be leaving shortly to collect my folks. The Vixter and I are taking them to see Hairspray at the local Arts college
-
Mike - scary incident - I am so glad that you had an alert pilot
-
T all the NY locals -I hope you get to do something nice outdoors on this lovely day
-
I've been working on ROBERTA all morning. I just spoke to Rob Berman about the leading man problem and he had a great suggestion. Keep your fingers crossed!
-
Just back from brunch. It included green eggs and ham, chicken and waffles, duck confit with a poached egg, Nutella French toast and a few assorted goodies to get the day off to the right start.
The right start to make you want to nap the rest of the day away.
Too bad I have two other events today.
-
Hey Mike, So glad your ok. That had to be so scarry.
-
Hey Bk,
I never saw "Heaven Can Wait". After reading your critique, I am very interested in seeing it.
I wonder if it will ever be on TCM or AMC.
-
I think you can stream it on amazon, Kate.
-
FJL - Miss Clark was first - Helen Reddy took over for her later.
-
I'm up - I didn't get to bed until two-thirty again.
-
It's overcast, as it was yesterday - yesterday it burned off around three.
-
I'll go jog in a little while.
-
Thanks Bk. Also I think it's great that you jog. I give you credit for your discipline in regards to exercise and eating right.
-
Good Day Everyone,
Have to go to a wake. (My third in 3 days).
Talk to you later.
-
I want DR John G.'s breakfast!
(In case that needed to be said.)
-
I'm sort of caught up - sort of because I'm NEVER caught up
-
I saw a production of Next to Normal last night in a little theatre in El Cerrito. A friend of mine played the lead, which is why I decided to brave the subject matter (which I'm not comfortable with, and I couldn't tell you why if you asked me!) and go see the show. It was a great production. I'm glad I finally saw the show. Do I need to see it again? No... would i work on the show? Absolutely. It's amazing how it all works together so well. The music works perfectly with the story. I didn't love it, and I did leave the theatre thinking that these great songs were somehow wasted on the subject matter, but it all worked well.
-
HEAVEN CAN WAIT is one of my Top Ten Favorite Films of all time. I saw it four times in the first week that opened in Tacoma. I wanted to introduce all my friends and family to this jewel. The only other film I have done that for was CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND (the original version). The minute BK mentioned the socre, the Main Theme popped back into my head.
-
Today being Sunday, when I don't go out, I did the dusting and cleaning and the laundry and the ironing and roasted the chicken and ate it.
-
Hello, everyone.
I have no idea how to get us out of Cinemascope.
-
I just added three movies to my Netflix queue. You see why I'm always bumping up against the limits of the queue?
DR Kate, I highly recommend Netflix. You get sooo much for so little money! There's seldom a wait for the old movies.
-
TCB, DK Nicky is a handsome boy. I enjoyed seeing his photo.
-
I'm glad to hear about your cruise. Such fun! A good way to think things though, methinks.
-
Congrats to Cillaliz. Yes, it's nice to be recognized for your achievements.
-
DR FJL, do you know if Helen Reddy is living in the US again? She seemed so contented back in Sydney in the interview I saw of her. I'm very glad she's performing again. Do you know if she's writing songs, too? Isn't she friends with some of your friends?
-
JRand, I enjoyed your story yesterday about getting in free for 50's night.
-
And the word of the day is: CHUFFED!
Good word! I'd heard it before, but didn't know what it meant. I should look for a dictionary of British slang.
-
Just back from brunch. It included green eggs and ham, chicken and waffles, duck confit with a poached egg, Nutella French toast and a few assorted goodies to get the day off to the right start.
OMG!
-
Oh, yay. No more Cinemascope. My laptop screen isn't wide enough to handle it.
-
TTFN.
-
hoping everyone had a good day
-
Hello, everyone.
I have no idea how to get us out of Cinemascope.
Well I'll be damned.
DAMNED, I tell you.
Page 2 was the first time I, DR ChasSmith, have experienced this Cinemascope I've been hearing about for so long. Now I know what it is! The text blocks extend past the width of the laptop screen, and the text doesn't word wrap. ISN'T THAT WEIRD???
And this happens on the same day I first experience the site slowness. COINCIDENCE???
-
And looking back, I think I see who we can blame. Oh yes, there must always be someone to blame in these matters.
It's DR vixmom! :)
Copying/pasting long URLs does it. Maybe it wouldn't, if you manually broke the lines up? That is so weird!!
I feel like I've been through a li'l Rite of Passage.
-
From DR Vixmom:
While she was away form the table exploring the club I arrange for the waitress to surprise her after lunch with this
Oh my! The stunned expression was great :)
-
DR TCB did you find The Beav's friends to be of better quality than Wally's? ;D
-
DR Jennifer I am far from the only one at my pool who swims as therapy for their shoulder. You might need to slow down and do more of the breast stroke. I suggest you consider this. Look up suggestions for pool exercises for your shoulder.
-
Good morning, all! I had too many weird dreams, populated with folk of whom I am not too fond,
I hate when that happens.
-
DR Mike-WOW!!!! I'm very glad your planes did not collide.
-
Oh, yay. No more Cinemascope. My laptop screen isn't wide enough to handle it.
I'm still in it :(
-
Correction, I had to readjust the size of my pages back to normal after making them smaller for everything to fit.
-
I watched the 2007 BBC adaptation of NORTHANGER ABBEY this afternoon, and it's far superior to the 1980s version. Catherine Morland is still one of the biggest idiots of fiction, but, for the first time, in either print or the earlier tv adaptation, I felt the link between her epiphany and that of Emma's after the Box Hill excursion in Miss Austen's later and superior novel, EMMA. The General Tilney was far more repellent and sinister, and Captain Tilney far handsomer than their 1980s counterparts. I had never really caught the Captain Tilney-Willoughby-Wickham connection before, either.
It was a great deal of fun, gothic fantasy sequences and all. Now I want to watch Emma Thompson's adaptation of SENSE & SENSIBILITY again.
-
I was hoping Heaven Can Wait would be on netflix streaming, but no such luck.
-
Jeanne - A dear friend who lives in L.A. Harriet Schock write the song "Ain't No Way To treat A Lady" that was a hit for Helen Reddy, so Helen performed that and Harriet's other song "Momma" at her concert in L.A. a few weeks ago - and Helen introduced Harriet in the audience of course when she sang the songs.
BK and I had dinner with Harriet (and another friend Joe Kolinski) last year when i was in L.A. It was all last-minute and I'd tried to reach you but you had other friends in town. next time I'm in L.A. I hope to do it on more notice.
-
I also saw Petula Clark in Blood Brothers.
-
My friend Robin has seen it dozens of times.
-
I was hoping Heaven Can Wait would be on netflix streaming, but no such luck.
Check amazon streaming - they seem to have a lot of Paramount films.
-
Since I try to parody everyone, and parodies annoy some people who lurk here:
Petula Clark parody (of Don't Sleep in the Subway)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WQiQ9FhEBI
Helen Reddy parody (of You and Me Against the World)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75daFChjAMw
Interestingly, I'd started becoming friendly with harriet Schock when I'd done a YouTube parody of her song "Ain't No Way to Treat a lady" and sent her the link and she actually called back totally fine with being parodied and even praised the accompaniment Skip had done for it. And we became friends after that.
-
For anyone interested in streaming Heaven Can Wait - if you're a Prime member on amazon it's free - otherwise 2.99.
http://www.amazon.com/Heaven-Can-Wait/dp/B001D05WK4/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1365979846&sr=1-1&keywords=heaven+can+wait

The real Helen Reddy with The Last Blues Song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuTqbylmLw8
-
So "The Last Blues Song" must have charted back in the 1970's, since the related videos on YouTube had a version (which I know I'd seen before) with Julie Andrews and Sandy Duncan

Chas, I think that moving to the next page is what got us out of it, although I'd forgotten that that is a fix for it.

She doesn;t sing a parody - but in addition to the parody of the Helen reddy song,
I also parody her HOLLYWOOD TOWN song into my HOLLYWOOD GOWN series.
Harriet Schock's REAL SONG HOLLYWOOD TOWN sung by Manfred Mann's Earth Band

You can't break up the lines of the URL. If you do, it won't connect to the Web site.

Sunday evening greetings! Rob and Mary Linda and I left Lima at 7:30 this morning and they dropped me off here at home about 6pm. Rachel's baptism was very sweet and the church provided a lovely potluck luncheon. Afterwards we all went to Rachel's family's home for lots of visiting. I'm very tired...
-
Scary story from DR Mike - so glad you're OK!
-
DR Ginny you should have sweet dreams tonight.
-
DR Mike - I'm so sorry you went through that and grateful you're here with us.

I have no idea what you could possibly be talking about.....:)
-
From DR Vixmom:
While she was away form the table exploring the club I arrange for the waitress to surprise her after lunch with this
Oh my! The stunned expression was great :)
She really was surprised because it was 2 weeks early for her birthday and also she was convinced the flare was going to explode at some point! :)
-
That was some flare!!!! ;D
-
So today - after apparently messing up this here site- I went to a college production of Hairspray
-
This particular school specializes in reaching music and theatre. Except for the young woman who played the villian (producer of dance show) everyone was very good. She wasn't BAD just ... adequate....
-
This was the same school where we so enjoyed Ragtime last fall- we really need to make more of an effort to see when they are having shows It was an very enjoyable show and it only cost $15 a ticket
-

I have swam before when I had a sore shoulder and it was quite difficult. It hurt to swim front crawl. I was able to swim breast stroke but I do not recall it making my shoulder feel better.
-
And I am off to bed!
Good night,

I'm afraid the cinemascope on that picture was because it was taken after most of the brunch.

But my stomach mostly yearns for the aforementioned duck confit

No it is usually caused by extra-large photos.

DR TCB did you find The Beav's friends to be of better quality than Wally's? ;D
No, I just figured I would make a much better friend for Wally. Best friends. Only friends. Sleep-over friends.
-
Just finished watching Barbara Cook's Mostly Sondheim DVD while getting something for the website done. What a wonderful capturing of a performer at a great moment in her career.
-
She makes me like the music from "Passion" more than I do when I hear the CD from the show.
-
Her simplicity and direct approach to the material, the way she trusts it, all make it sing honest and true.
The only singer at the cabaret I went to last night who failed to do her job was someone who sang "Come Rain or Come Shine" as if it were a Celine Dion song that was loaded with "Hey, look at me" shrieks and overemotional vocal gestures. The woman didn't trust the beauty of the song, and she blew it.
-
Can we get to page five?
-
Hi, 2 guests!
-
One more.
-
Five!
-
"I am learning all the time. I am not a finished product at all. ... I am still on the journey."
Great quote from Barbara Cook at the end of an interview after the concert.
-
And with that, good night.
-
Happy Anniversary to the WSMA!
-
Finished with my viewing and listening to music. I've heard two more Hofstetter auditions and will listen to the last of them in a few minutes. Then one gal who did a sloppy job on her call back is going to redo it - she's a frontrunner so I wanted her to have every shot.
-
Welcome sixty-two GUESTS.
-
Today I made enough taco fixin's to feed sixty-two guests.
Yum.
-
Welcome sixty-two GUESTS.
Sixty-two Guests!! Is someone else being sued?
-
So, Chas, how many tacos did you eat?
-
Oh, I think I stopped counting at fifty-eight, fifty-nine...
-
I had two tuna sandwiches, and then four frozen taco things - otherwise just fruit, carrots and a nougat bar. So, pretty good calorie-wise especially given the three-mile jog.
-
You know, BK, on the days you do a three mile jog; you could probably have fries or onion rings without worrying very much about it.
-
I'll do the occasional fries or onion rings after I lose another ten pounds. Then if I do a three-mile jog I definitely could do that.
-
Scary story, Mike. Glad you landed safely.
Ditto and Ditto!!
-
Happy Anniversary to the WSMA!
Anniversary??
-
Well, the second weekend of "Reservoir Dogs" has ended and we had a successful weekend. Last night's men's show was almost full! Tonight's women's show was almost full, too!
