A book on my library wish list showed available to check out. I went to my Nook to borrow and download and it was already gone. That was fast! I have 2 books already checked out so I'm ok though my plan was to read this book before the other ones.
That seems rather odd.
And the word of the day is: AEOLIAN!

The big surprise of "ParaNorman" for me was that one of the characters turned out to be gay.
Would that make it Paranorman is that you?
SPOILER FOR VIDEO OF "CALL ME, MAYBE" :)
That turned out to be a major plot point in the video of last year's big Billboard hit CALL ME MAYBE.

Thank goodness for my guardian angel (named Gabriel) and the young female employee with him, because they took such good care of me, and I believe they worked for SAS.

At first I was thinking that DR Jane was saying that her library told her an ebook was available but when she went to download it she couldn't. Now I understand what she did mean. It was a book on her wishlist that she hadn't yet reserved. But still it was fast. Well now you can reserve it right and be second?
My niece (who will be 4 this Friday) blabbed my sister's Mother's Day present to her. It was pretty funny. I guess don't tell her anything you don't want everyone else to know. :)
Also, I had her make 4 cards yesterday (a Mother's day for my sister, a Mother's Day for my mom, a birthday card for my aunt whose birthday is today, and a birthday card for my brother-in-law's aunt whose party is today). So we showed my sister 3 cards and so my niece says "but I made 4 cards". I had told her the 4th card was a secret. But I guess she doesn't quite get it yet. :)
My shoulder is a little sore this morning but it's fine. I knew it was going to hurt when I was lifting my niece at the park. But she wanted to do those things (monkey bars and fireman's pole) so badly. I couldn't refuse.
Big thanks to DR Jane for the bookmark she sent me. Thank you so much. You are so sweet! I really like it.
re: DR Jane's funny comment last night about losing weight by going to restaurants you don't like.
It's funny but I can't imagine eating out/taking out so much while trying to lose weight. I guess if you are doing it purely by calories then a lot of places now are listing those (so that part is good).
But here they don't do that (list calories). And most foods could have anything in them making them more fattening.
I feel like if I make the food myself then I know exactly what I am putting in it. And I can eat more fruits and vegetables and cook them how I like.
Slept 10 hours, which was much needed.
I'm up - I guess I may have gotten JUST eight hours of sleep.
I'm up - I guess I may have gotten JUST eight hours of sleep. We seem to be back online so gee I guess my modem wasn't the problem. What I find so irritating about these people is that they just refuse to acknowledge it might be an outage even when they know they just had one - clearly their engineers thought they fixed it and just as clearly they hadn't.

He then wrote back and said he hadn't actually ordered from us. Now, I don't know about you, dear readers, but doesn't that just make you wonder about someone's sanity? But the capper is - he DID order from us because I'd already seen his invoice - I checked again just to make sure and saw that he'd actually ordered late - May 3rd, so his order probably didn't ship till the 5th or so, so while it's taking a while to get cross-country, it really hasn't been that long.
The second I posted the above it went down again. I unplugged the router for the third time and replugged but it is not happening. We will see how it is in the morning.
Here is the kind of customer that just makes you scratch your head. I received an e-mail filled with CAPS about how this guy had ordered Leave Her to Heaven and HADN'T RECEIVED ANY CONFIRMATION of the order (we don't do those - paypal tells you "you've made a payment"), and hadn't received a shipping notice (we don't do those), and hadn't received the disc. So I told him we'd check his tracking information on Monday, since the discs had shipped over a week ago and should have reached him.

Not to me and the reason as soon as I see a book has become available I rush to check it out. I just wasn't fast enough this time. It is only the wish list, not the hold list.
Leave him to heaven, BK.
I, on the other hand, placed an order late yesterday and haven't received my shipment before the arrival of today's mail. Whassup with that? ;D

I can't put a hold on it without removing something from that list. I only get 6 holds at a time which is why I check my wish list once or twice a day.

Of course not. Just a little sore isn't too bad. I expect you are relieved it isn't worse.

A restaurant in New Mexico listed all the calories which frustrated Keith. He would have preferred not to know & hesitated to order what he really wanted. I on the other hand was oblivious to the fact a calorie count had been provided.

So even if you are number 10 you can only reserve 6 ebooks at a time? Even if you won't be getting that ebook for a while? That seems odd. Can Keith get a library account and get 6 holds too?

Oh she also blabbed what the gift was. After all our hard work to make it a surprise. Oh well. It is partially my fault because I showed her on tv what they were getting my sister. But only after my older niece had told her what they were getting her. But I probably refreshed her memory and made it visual for her by showing it to her. But apparently my dad had sort of accidently blabbed what the gift was already too. :)

I think a calorie count in the back would be excellent. So those who want to know can know. But those who don't want to know don't have to look. I know my sister mentioned being upset when she was in Vermont because the stuff she wanted to eat had so many calories. And looking at the calorie count made her unable to order what she wanted.
So TCB how did you come to have a drink with Buzz?
where have all the Posters gone?
That's an awesome photo, TCB!

(Post Deleted)
On the internet, Buzz claims to have been sober now for over 30 years. Who am I to dispute his story. So, let me just say:
When I went out to the site of the Titanic wreck in 1996, Buzz was onboard the ship (as was Loni Anderson).
Interesting notes on Far From Heaven, Elmore. I loved Julianne Moore in the movie, but I felt the movie was a museum piece attempt to make a Douglas Sirk weepie. The musical has been talked about for years now, and I never could understand what about the story sings.

2.5 hours of my life I'll never get back. And the musical isn't even a weepie; it's far too boring. It's the theatrical equivalent of watching paint dry.

What was this for, I wonder?
If George and Ira had been George and Martha instead:
DYSFUNCTIONAL YOU
tune of EMBRACEABLE YOU
(VIRGINIA WOOLF tiny spoiler)
Don’t junk me
My sweet dysfunctional you
Don’t punk me
My non-compunction-al you
Just one sip of gin
Has got you swinging at me
When the guests came in
Your taunts came flinging at me
I love all the many ills about you
Above all, they made some pills about you
Don’t talk about that baby
Come to Martha, come to Martha, do
My sweet dysfunctional you!
Great lyrics, FJL.
And I agree with you about "Pocketful of Miracles," TCB.

They mention that there have been some attempts, but none have ben able to do it:
The "Apple Annie" story transformed into Capra's Lady For A Day (and Pocketful of Miracles) has long been considered a natural source for a stage musical and a number of prominent writers, including Jerry Herman, David Shire and Richard Maltby Jr; the team of John Kander and Fred Ebb have all worked on unfinished and unrealized adaptations
