Well, you've read the notes, the notes were amplified, and now it is time for you to post until the amplified cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TONTINE!
-
Can someone record and then send me a DVD of Behind the Candleabra - I don't get HBO and don't want to wait until it's released on DVD.

I was going to make my own (standard) DVD...just send me your address. Anyone else?

Hard to believe but it's actually warm and sunny this holiday weekend.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
It's sunny here but not warm. It's struggling to hit 50 degrees.
-
Good morning from West Seneca, New York!
-
Thanks for the travel vibes. My flight was a little bumpy but made it just about on time.
-
My brother came to my sister's (aka Kate) for lunch yesterday. Later, my brother and I met our niece and her baby for dinner at Applebees.
-
It's 46 degrees in the Buffalo area, with a high of 64 forecasted. But it's going to be a sunny day
-
I can't wait to see the 2 hour finale of SMASH tonight. I think the Tony awards sounds interesting.
-
I wish I could see PARADE on stage since I like the cd a lot.
-
Good morning, all.
It rained again over night, but not too much. Still no standing water in the yard, which is a good thing.
-
Great notes on the sound from Parade, BK. The production I saw of In the Heights suffered from the same. A great band (located on the second story of the set in the two facing buildings, raised a loud noise and you couldn't understand all of the lyrics, which is necessary in understanding the action.
I, too, would like to see Parade, because I enjoy the CD. It's not the second coming or the third, but I like it.

Good morning, all! When I last looked at the clock, wondering why I couldn't get to sleep, it was 3:20 am. Well, when the alarm went off at 7:20, I forced myself out of bed. I have got to cart this fan down to Toyland this morning.
Since I haven't been there in five days, i'll check the place out, ascertain no one's broken in, check a wrong note question and prepare for work on Tuesday.
DR CharlesPogue, I seem to think in two time zones: pre- and post-1979, when I moved to New York. I have this vague memory that I first heard of WINDY CITY from Ken Mandelbaum (whatever happened to Ken?) after he saw the show in London. I didn't meet him until some time after 1981, so I figured the show couldn't be any older than that.
At some point after that, I met Dick Vosburgh, one of the writers. and we had the usual "what happened to WINDY CITY" discussion with him. This might have been when it was being done at Papermill or in Chicago. I knew the show wasn't a big success in London, but I still like the score a lot. The last time I saw Dick Vosburgh was in London in 1999; h died in 2007.

Greetings from Toyland! The fan works, there are no break-ins, and all is good.
-
DR GEORGE I would like a copy of BEHIND THE CANDLEABRA.....you should have my address.....but I will PM you, if you don't.
-
We have started using microphones for everybody - even in the straight plays - at the Putnam County Playhouse.....because our audience says they can't hear.....and of course the young actors don't know how to speak up or sing loud.....they stand on stage and talk as if they are having a conversation with each other.....it's very annoying.
STAR SEARCH and AMERICAN IDOL type singing and audience reactions are also the bane of my theatre-going existence.
-
HA! DR CILLA LIZ thanks for reminding of the CORRECT title of the song!

Today is the day of the 500 Mile Race which used to be a BIG DEAL, until the owner of the Speedway said to hell with tradition and the rest of Indiana, I'm going to do what I want....I own the property and I am the only one who knows anything. He upset everyone, reconfigured the track....pitted the open wheel racers against the regular cars....and created BAD will around the world.
Thank you, Tony Hulman....you and your drunk sister have taken the only thing that Indiana was known for worldwide....well except for John Dillinger....and turned it into a mockery of what it once was. AND just because it is so funny to me....a couple of years ago, there was a big family and proxy fight....and the Hulman's lost the race track! HAHAHAHA. [UPDATE: I guess the Hulman-George family and corporation still own it, but they no longer run it].
May used to be 500 month, there were activities all over the state and interest was high....now....it's just another race.
Sort of like when we went from ONE STATE BASKETBALL championship where ALL schools participated to having class basketball....now we have FOUR STATE CHAMPS....including....girl's basketball....which nobody is interested in, except the girls and their parents....
And while I'm at it.....you kids git off my lawn!!!
-
Good morning, all.
Miraculously, absolutely miraculously, I was able to sleep in till just about 9:30. That's almost unheard of these days.
-
I nominate today's notes for a TONY.
Seriously. BRAVO, SIR.
I want to know one thing: Who was the first person ever to amplify the BAND or ORCHESTRA in a Broadway show?
-
Greetings from Toyland! The fan works, there are no break-ins, and all is good.
That is very good to hear.
Even if I was forced by his previous post to picture DR Elmore performing the Wrong Note Rag.
Unamplified.

Good morning!!!

About 4-5 months ago, three young guys moved into the house across the street from us. Apparently, the wealthy parents of one bought the house for him...and he moved in with his buddies.
For the last few weeks, they house appeared to be "abandoned," then 3-4 days ago, there have been repairmen doing work on the property, and now there is a "For Sale" sign up.
Turns out that the boys had turned the place into a meth lab and when the parents found out, they kicked them out.
That's all I need across the street from me: a meth lab.

Bane (well, Baines anyway) is also the name of the title character played by Ralph Richardson in FALLEN IDOL.

Good Morning Everyone,
Enjoying my visit with my Bro Kevin
-
Good morning. The DD and I survived our first night! We both slept like logs, it was a great sleep. Took the DD out for a walk this morning, as will be our custom from now on, and right outside my door is a donut shop. Oh dear dear dear.... the smell of freshly prepared donuts in the morning, and they are yummy as I've been there before. Since I stopped eating many things like that, one donut will probably do me in for the day. I'll just suck it up and deal :)
-
What is "Behind the Candelabra" ?

YIKES! Too bad they canceled COPS - your neighborhood might have been on the Season Premiere in September.

As if to say nothing too small to note in song about Liberace. I looked back and found my plea for the estate to move the Liberace Museum in vegas closer to the strip, because unless you had a car, it was so long a shlep to get to, and nothing else to do there
As if sung to the people who man the Liberace museum - from 2010, it seems
Tune of Liberace’s signature song I’LL BE SEEING YOU
I’d be seeing you
On every single Vegas visit
What you offer is exquisite.
Very true
But to get that way
Can mean a half a day
You’re really much too far
Too long a schlep
You really are
I’d be seeing you
Lee’s story really does inspire
There’s so much there that I admire
But it’s just too much stress to hire -
A taxi to that strip mall where
there’s nothing else to do
If you were on the busy Strip
Then I’d be seeing you
-
LOL.....well a trip to Las Vegas would NOT be complete without a trip to that museum.....

Kate, you should probably delete your post with your personal address. You have 3 buttons at the top of your post "Quote" "Modify" "Delete". Just click delete and your post will be gone. It's not a good idea to broadcast that information here. Even though a small group of regulars read the board, lots of other people read who are not registered and you never know what might happen. I'm not trying to scare you (or anyone else) but this isn't a completely private space.
You can send George a personal message with your address that no one else will see. Go back to Page 1 Message 3, It's George's post. On the lower left hand corner under his picture there is a green scroll (if you hover your cursor over it you should see the words "Personal Message". Click on that green scroll and it will open a new window with George's HHW information. You can put in a subject line, tell him your address and the message will go just to him. It's safer than posting your address here in the open.
If you don't get a chance to delete the message, Bruce should be able to do it, since he's the moderater of the board.
-
Good catch, DR Ben.
Kate, thay caveat applies to ANY board, not just this one. Always avoid posting personal addresses, phone numbers, and emails.
(People do post email addresses on boards, but they should never be typed out in their literal format, because automated spamming systems will pick them up.)
-
Good one, FJL.
I haven't been to Vegas in years, but I'll certainly want to take in the Liberace museum next time I'm out there. It's ridiculous that they dumped it in an out-of-the-way location.

More, re the notes:
A close cousin to the shame and horror of improper amplification is the shame and horror of cut-down orchestras employing machines instead of live musicians.
Of course there's a huge gray area here, since a certain amount of keyboard usage would seem to be acceptable -- but there are many lines to be drawn, and this needs to be examined on a case by case basis.
-
Case in point --
The Cathy Rigby PETER PAN was an incredibly wonderful and joyous production, and I'd be hard put to envision anything finer than what I experienced there.
The orchestra was wonderful, too. They listed the musicians in the program and, as always, I checked out the pit beforehand and saw the mikes in front of each stand. As this was a large professional theater (the WONDERFUL Proctors Theatre in Schenectady), that didn't cause any particular shock or dismay. It is what it is, etc. For keyboards, the conductor had a 61-key mounted next to his stand, and there was an 88-key below. I figured he'd be playing the solo celesta cues on the small one, and that the regular keyboardist would be providing fill and support here and there, especially since there were only a few string players listed. (As it turned out, the conductor played some "Tink" cues, while the keyboardist played others. Which seemed strange, but whatever.) The players were excellent and provided a full, rich sound -- I forget the number, but let's say twelve or maybe a couple more? It was beautiful, and I had to give some credit to whatever the keyboard was bringing to the table.
Then, shockingly (okay, let's all say it: I'm naive!), as I stood over the pit to watch them play the Exit Music, I suddenly realized that the little table with a computer on it, kind of far off in a back corner of the pit, was NOT there for some technical reason other than music. It was a gal tapping that fu- infernal little keyboard in time with the conductor. They were utilizing what MTI calls OrchExtra (or maybe that's what it's called everywhere), and the large part of the sound filling the theater was being produced by software. This won't be news to some here, and it wouldn't be so shocking to me in 2013 if I got out to more shows. But that was just disheartening to discover -- disheartening to find it being used in the first place, and perhaps even more so to have had the wool pulled over my own ears.
And all the while, the program touts the local musician's union. Shame. For shame. I don't have a horse in this race, but how is that being allowed to happen?
But I digress..
EDIT: 12 local musicians (Schenectady Local 85-133), plus 4 touring ones: Conductor, Keyboard I (the full sized one), "Keyboard 2"(which would have to be the euphemism for the computer one), and Drums/Percussion.

Well, I must be off to do some Memorial Day shopping for some outdoor grillin' tomorrow -- such as it will be, since the temperature will only be up into the low 70s. If we're lucky. But it will be sunny and the wind is supposed to have died down by then, and thankfully, the days of DELUGE are behind us.
-
I forgot to add in my previous post that those damned kids should git offa MY lawn, too.

And the word of the day is: TONTINE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: PUT 'EM IN A BOX, TIE IT WITH A RIBBON

George- Can You Send Me A Copy? Do You Need My Address?

Well, it rained hard and heavy again this morning. Maybe three more inches while I was in church. It was hard to pay attention to the end of the sermon, the rain was so hard.
Now, I have standing water. The cat doesn't like it.
-
Getting together tonight with the folks I went to Italy with last year. We're making dinner and each has a course. I chose antipasti and think I have enough food for the six of us to eat for two days.
I grilled red onion, zucchini, yellow squash and asparagus and roasted three red peppers, then bought some assorted meats and made a white bean salad with rosemary and basil.
-
DR GEORGE I would like a copy of BEHIND THE CANDLEABRA.....you should have my address.....but I will PM you, if you don't.

I should think George has my address since it's on the back of every Kritzerland release :)
-
I'm up - I think I got eight hours of sleep. Really wish I could just stay home all day night, but alas...
-
I know the first time there was a mixing board in a Broadway theater was Promises, Promises - then it became the norm after that. So, I'm not sure if that's the first time a band was fully miked or not.

Today is our last performance of the first weekend of "Cinder Edna." We have two more weekends after this. I'm running the sound board and, very topical, I'm trying not to blow out everyone's ears with the microphones. There have been a few problems with a couple of the microphones crackling and popping, but it's not because of the actors' saying their "Ps" or "Ts" too loudly. It's something electronic and I don't have the experience or training to really troubleshoot it. I can only do what I can and hopefully, it'll all sound pretty good. We did actually lower the volume of the band and that made it easier for me to lower the volume of the actors and to control that. So far, so good.
-
Well, I must be going...

But...

I was going to post all of the above if someone hadn't done so, which also means that Kate's address hasn't been removed yet.

If someone will grab Kate's address and get it to George, I'll remove it right now.
-
Hello to everyone,
To everyone who gave me good advise and came to my rescue regarding the address issue, I sincerely thank you.
-
Looks like it's gone.
-
Just got an invite to a backer's audition/presentation of that musical about Studio 54 directed by Tommy Tune. I'm GOING!
-
Sorry, I mean advice.
-
Hey BK,
I am borrowing your book Murder at the School Musicial from Kevin. I can't wait to read it and let you know what I think about it.
-
Oh, Kate, I meant to tell you--don't put your address in your messages.
-
I met my friends at Panera earlier. I've known Mike since kindergarten!
-
Thanks Bro.
-
Hey Bro, Are you getting ready for Bab's concerts?
-
Kate ordered "The Guilt Trip" on her cable "on demand" and we've watched it twice. I think I'm getting sick of it.
-
Hey Bro, Are you getting ready for Bab's concerts?
Where is this "Bro" coming from?
-
I really liked The Guilt Trip. Having a son, I can so totally relate to some of the situations in the movie. The first time I saw it, some scenes make me cry
I have watched it three times.
-
Shopping: DONE.
I am done.
The rest of the day is mine. All mine.
-
I don't know Bro Kevin. You know that I am a little eccentric.
-
Hey Bro, Are you getting ready for Bab's concerts?
Yes, I have lots to do before I leave on Thursday!
-
Hey Everyone, I just noticed that I am now a Full Member.

No, I'll pick up the pizza shortly.

Sunday afternoon greetings! We got home from Lima in time to see the second half of the Indianapolis 500, which is STILL a big deal for me, DR JRand - deep Hoosier roots, you know. We were in the car in time to hear Jim Nabors sing and MHG utter those famous words. Stopped to pick up fried chicken for lunch. My Grandma would be pleased.

Were there the right number of musicians in the pit as noted in the program?
I used "Sinfonia" (which is what it's called, MTI calls it one thing, RnH calls it another) for the helicopter show. It is a wonderful piece of technology for small theatres that either don't have the budget for a real orchestra or the space. The downside is that it's kind of hard to operate. I know many people have their opinions, but it's a useful tool.

Yes, the musicians were properly accounted for.
I should have added that I've seen it used in one community theater production (so far) and I didn't object to it there. That was BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and the music director sat there right in front of the stage (pit area, but no actual pit) "playing" it with his left hand and conducting the stage (and only a bass player and drummer) with his right. The thing sounded great, for the most part. Certain bits would suddenly sound a little synth-y, which served to highlight how good the rest of it was. And would the production have been what it was without that? Not at all.
He told me it was quite the challenge to learn and master. But master it, he did.
So, I don't object to it in these certain situations. In professional venues, though, with all the space in the world.....

I agree with that, DR ChasSmith. And in this case, I blame the producers who don't want to spend the extra dough to fill out the orchesta. Why is it that the music is always first to go?
In other "Sinfonia" news, I'm struggling over the size of my pit for a production of In the Heights this fall. I have the budget for the 9 players (tour orchestration), but I don't have the room. 2 keys, 2 percussion already take up a lot of room, and the reed book calls for 7 instruments which also takes up room, plus amps for guitar and bass. In this case, I have the budget and not the room, so I'm considering "Sinfonia".
-
And I am home from Toyland; all the fixes for the piano-vocal score are sent to the copyist for repair, and tomorrow I'll deal with the full score. I am craving mac 'n' cheese for dinner.
-
DR elmore it seems like you have a very productive Sunday.
-
I should not have sat down. Now I want a nap instead of mopping the floors.
-
I used windex all over the house, where needed, but still need to mop.
-
Went to the book signing - I stayed for an hour, but they started twenty-five minutes late. He had a bit over twenty people there, which is very good these days. I hope I have that many - of course, I hope I have more. I do know that two of the people at this signing will be at mine because they happen to be Adriana Hofstetter's biggest fans.
-
Vibes you have at least or more than 25 people at your book signing.
-
Bruce you actually "liked" something on my FB page ;) I knew you would.

Wow, you even commented-LOL :)

Back from a celebration of three bar and bat mitzvahs in the Bronx. Really beautiful, it was for triplets who seem to really care a lot for each other, and what a gorgeously done shared ceremony,
-
I guess I'll mosey on over to Art's Deli for this meeting I'd rather not go to. Hoping it will be short and sweet and then the rest of the day and evening are MINE!
-
So I got up at 6:30 showered and dressed for church
-
went to the supermarket and bought bakery goods and fruit juice, flavored creamers ans a gallon of milk for the coffeehour
-
If someone will grab Kate's address and get it to George, I'll remove it right now.
Looks like it's gone.
I got it. :)
-
for those that are intrested the pastries were:
mini muffins: lemon poppy seed, chocolate chip, blueberry and banana nut
mini cupcakes: vanilla with vanilla icing and chocolate with chocolate icing
brownie bits
mini turnovers: raspberry and apple
and three types of flavored creamer - french vanilla, hazelnut and carmel macchiato
-
the I got to church by 8 AM - set the table with flowers and tablecloths and put the pastries on platters, poured 3 dozen cups of juice, made up 4 dozen dixie cups 1/2 with pretzels, 1/2 with organic animal crackers for our little ones, made 8 pots of coffee
-
then I set up communion in the chapel (the main Santuary had already been set )
-
went to church where I served as Lay Reader and Communion Assistant
-
snuck out the back door after coimmunin and was inmy apron and behind the coffee tabke by time everyone was dimissed

We had a good performance today, but a couple of microphones were wonky today when they hadn't been before! WTF?? Anyway, the only thing that I can think of to do is to swap the microphones between the actors. There are nine mics and after today's show, I just randomly mixed them up. I have my script with me so that I can write in the new mic numbers, because I need to learn the new numbers.

If a member of the Missouri Synod showed up in our congregation this morning they would have been shocked and not just by the hymns
-
Our Senior Pastor is in Austin Texas for a week long immersion study of Spanish
-
So our Associate Pastor (Flora) was presiding with the Vixter as her assisting minister, all four communion assistants were women as was the acolyte - not a man to be seen!
-
Just got an invite to a backer's audition/presentation of that musical about Studio 54 directed by Tommy Tune. I'm GOING!
Cool! Can't wait to read (what you're able to write) about it.

Dear BK,
I am only a theater ticket buyer, and I have absolutely no knowledge whatsoever about sound design and mics and the like. But I am sure that exactly what you are describing is going on at our tour theater. I can rarely understand what they are saying or singing. And it is all SO LOUD. Maybe that's why I enjoy the local small theater so much more. I can follow the story so much better there.
-
after the first coffee hour as over there was our second service and the Latino service which gave me time to clean up the kitchen a bit, make 8 more pots of coffee, replenish the snacks table and be ready for the next wave of hungry and thirsty parishioners
-
Then around noonish I cleaned up the kitchen put all the supplies away
-
then I cleaned up the communion o n the Chapel and the main sanctuary and changed out all the hangings from white to green in preparation for next week
-
then I took "my" old lady out to lunch at the local diner
-
and finally headed home a little after 3PM , stopping to pickup a Subway sandwich for Vixdad on the way home
-
Vixdad kindly took me to Friendly's for ice cream
-
Belgiam waffle with nutty caramel ice cream and sliced almonds and caramel sauce
-
and now I am exhausted and fat and lazy

How very sweet. In Pennsylvania one of our babysitters and triplet younger sisters. Their mother told me that in the triplets group she belonged to many of the father's split shortly after the babies were born. She greatly appreciated her husband. :)

I agree Laura - they do not even teach young people how to project their voices anymore - they are all dependent upon body mics - if the mics mis-function well the audience is just out of luck and I am so tired of not being able to hear the singers over the band

I am resting right now :)

Doctor Who is on BBC America and I am posting away here

For anyone who wants to see the Jeanne Cooper memorial on Y&R it will be on tomorrow in Canada and Tues May 28th in the US. I guess I will need some tissues. :(
-
I am curious, one of my niece's names is Megan, which we pronounce May-gan. That is how I hear everyone here pronounce it.
But every time I hear someone in the US pronounce it they say Meh-gan.
She heard someone on tv pronounce it the second way and it freaked her out.

We say Meh - gan in NY

In Ny we also pronounce Deidre as Deer DRAH whereas my Brit born husband and everyone of the BBC seem to say Deer DREE how do you say it in Canada?
-
And Bernard is Ber NARD not BERNed

and its SKED YOOL not SHED JOOL

I would say Dee i drah

I would say it Dee-dra. But have heard it Deer-drah a lot. Although that is not a very common here (don't know anyone named that).
-
And Bernard is Ber NARD not BERNed
Yah I would say Ber nard too.
-
I don't know why (maybe because I saw the name so much). But I have a very hard time saying it Meh-gan. It is so much easier to say it the other way. :)
-
Is it JENEE Fur or JENNA FAR ?
-
and its SKED YOOL not SHED JOOL
:)
I would say it sked-ju-ull
-
Is it JENEE Fur or JENNA FAR ?
Never heard Jenna far :)
I have only heard it one way.
I say it Jen-if-fur
you can take out the first f. But it is the sound that i sound that goes with if. Just not sure how to write it.
-
That is how I say it. I think the far is how the Brits say it.
-
I say names the way each person who has that name pronounces it. I knew an ANN-dreeya and an ahn-DRAY-uh. CARE-olyn and Care-o-LINE.
-
I've known a Marissa or two or three. Ma-RISS-sa.
But nowadays they all seem to insist on Ma-REES-sa.

OK, just checking. I would say Hell leen as well.

Helene
I would just call that Hell-un (like Helen)
Or Hell- ene (like saying the letter N -that is how we would say it in French).
I have never heard it said Hell - leen. And definitely not Hee lane
-
Helen & Helene are two different names. The Helene's I know get frustrated with being called Helen.

I think it is because here there is a French name Helene with an accent on the 2nd "e". So we would say it the French way here.

I'm watching the Doctor Who special on the fifth Doctor, Peter Davison, then I'm going to watch and record to my DVD burner "Mad Men," then watch and record "Behind the Candelabra," while recording "Smash" on my DVR.

Thank you, BK, for today's notes. However, you are truly preaching to the choir. I grew up working in a 300 seat theater in Tacoma where you projected or you were out. Community theatre audiences are normally shaded toward older audiences, and they did not put up with actors they weren't able to hear or understand. Fortunately, my junior high drama teacher taught me to project at an early age. I was six years old when she first cast me as "The Littlest Angel." Even though she was a good friend of my mother, and they taught together at the junior high, I received no special treatment when it came to projection.

Can someone record and then send me a DVD of Behind the Candleabra - I don't get HBO and don't want to wait until it's released on DVD.
I was going to make my own (standard) DVD...just send me your address. Anyone else?
I appreciate the offer, George, but I doubt I would ever watch it.

Also, I have seen some of the previews, and I find Michael Douglas's take on the character rather offensive.

My brother came to my sister's (aka Kate) for lunch yesterday. Later, my brother and I met our niece and her baby for dinner at Applebees.
Kevin, sh is no longer your sister. She is now DR Kate forever more.

Had a two-hour meeting at Art's. I had a mediocre turkey salad sandwich - what a waste of a meal. But the meeting, depending on what transpires, could lead to something interesting.

LEADING TO SOMETHING INTERESTING VIBES FOR BK

What is "Behind the Candelabra" ?
....featuring Michael Douglas and the piano man and Matt Damon as Scott....
That means the movie features Michael Douglas, Billy Joel, and Matt Damon?
-
Another name I hear said two ways is Stefan.
On The Vampire Diaries they say Steff-un. But here we say it Stef-ann.

If a member of the Missouri Synod showed up in our congregation this morning they would have been shocked and not just by the hymns
Thanks. That comes from the Missouri Synod member of this group.

Always glad to confound, Vixmom.

Dinner was wonderful. My favorite, of course, was the marrow from the osso buco. But the white bean salad with shrimp was no mean shakes either. Neither was the coconut gelato, the torte du vin, the polenta and the handmade pasta with truffle butter. (I may not measure my blood sugar in the morning.) ;)

Starting "Maytime" tonight. Loves me some Jeanette MacDonald.

That does sound like fun.

I didn't sleep well at all last night. First I stayed up late watching tv, then there was a thunder storm, then my stomach was bothering me. Sheesh! I did sleep in a little. Glad I can sleep in tomorrow

I am still very full

My favorites were the rhubarb pie and the home made coffee ice cream

There were lots of fresh veges and fruits. it was tasty!

Looks like another big round of weather coming overnight. Looks nasty on the radar, but they are just predicting very heavy rain and some thunder. I still don't like to go to bed when there is a nasty looking area on the radar

The coffee ice cream was to die for. She made the custard chilled overnight, added 1/2 cup coffee then put it in her ice cream maker. I'm going to have to try to make it because it was delightful
-
It was a burger and brat grill out so I made calico beans. There were two other kinds of beans too, completely different. All tasty

There was not one dish that was blah. All my friends know how to cook and we all know how to eat, lol

My mom' name is spelled Joan, but you pronounce it Jo Ann

I always knew if someone on the phone knew her or was just reading her name off a list.

I have no plans tomorrow. I am very happy about that
-
Something I always have trouble with:
AMC Loews Theaters
Lowe's Home Improvement Centers
Lerner and Loewe
But I get the pronunciation right every time!
-
Okay, I'm watching "Behind the Candelabra" and Liberace is having a facelift...SPOILERS: IT'S PRETTY GRAPHIC!! :o
It doesn't last long, but there are several shots of the cutting of skin...up close and much too personal. At least when they show Scott's (Matt Damon) surgeries, those are not as graphic.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Watched Mad Men and the first half of Sayonara.
-
If a member of the Missouri Synod showed up in our congregation this morning they would have been shocked and not just by the hymns
How very strange! I was totally unfamiliar with the term "Missouri Synod" until about ten minutes before I read your post. I was watching (and crying) the National Memorial Concert on PBS. I decided to look up my old friend Brian, who died in Vietnam, and who is remembered on the Vietnam Wall in Washington D.C, And there, on his listing it said, "Religion: Lutheran and Missouri Synod."
