Title: A LOVELY STUMBLE-THROUGH AND A THURBER CARNIVAL
Post by: bk on June 02, 2013, 12:10:17 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes stumbled through and were Thurberesque, and now it is time for you to post until the stumbling cows come home.

We will be going shopping in about a half hour.

Walk to the store, buy food, walk back and drag it up 3 flights of stairs. Put away the food and then go back out to a second store to buy more food because the first store doesn't have all the stuff we need/want. Walk back home with the second round of purchases, drag them up 3 flights of stairs and put the stuff away and then go back to bed.

And that is nice news, DR Ben.  But I do hear we're in for another fine mess of thunderstorms this evening.  Oy!

Love the Thurber drawing.  Leave it to BK to have that on his damned wall!  Well, I must take out my Thurber Carnival album -- which I'm not even sure I still have.

Thurber was such a "presence" in the day.  Almost like... Helen Keller.

Good morning, all!

I could not sleep last night; at 2am, i was sitting at the computer revising my liner notes; it was something to do. As a consequence, I did not want to get out of bed at 7, when the alarm rang. Since I cannot easily sleep in daylight, i dragged myself out of bed around 7:45, wishung I were dead. So, I'm up, not very happy, not very awake, and needing coffee.

It will be a very cautious and hopefully quiet day.

I am desirous of another cup of coffee.  In order to get up and grab me another K-cup brew, I must dislodge the large slumbering tabby on my lap.  Well, we do what we gotta do.

DR ELMORE remember when you are driving a rental car you can tell which side the gas tank door is on by looking at the fuel gauge - the triangle next to a gas pump sign will indicate that for you.

Today is our Open House to open our season....which includes light refreshments and a few of the songs from You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown.

Tickets also go on sale - and there was NO presale for CB, so all of those parents and kids will be lined up to reserve 30 tickets each- even though they only need 6 or 7 - but Aunt Rose from Evansville said she MIGHT want to come....  I am sure no one told them that they can only reserve a total of TEN tickets without payment.....

That is from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.  Then the board meeting....and then I get to come home!

DR JRand62, you terrify me!

Now that I know tomorrow is going to be a wet day, I am debating a trek to Toyland to cart all of my work there. At this point, the debate is in favor of staying here and chancing it tomorrow,

Well I am sure it will be a big success - and hopefully sell all of the available tickets during the run.  It is the kind of show that sells a LOT of tickets to relatives as opposed to the general public.  There are 21 kids in the ensemble - so there will be lots of running and screaming in the lobby and crumbled cookies and spilled punch in the theatre.....

I am working in the box office beginning at 1 p.m. - but I don't know how long I can take it...we shall see.

I just took my daily two-mile walk, thinking it would be slightly more comfortable than over the previous few days.

WRONG.

I had to wonder if I would make it back up the driveway to the house.  It's around 81 here right now.  Let's face it, I've always been one to sweat like a pig anyway, but maybe the humidity is a little higher today?

Meanwhile the outlook for the next ten days is beautiful.  Maybe even a little too cool for June?  But it happens.  Who cares.  I'll take it.

It was a three-piece suit.  Summer beige with a very nice, very subtle pattern.  I distinctly remember it was one I sadly, all too quickly, grew out of.  Now I'd probably have to slice myself vertically in half to get into it.

Hello All!   I hope you are enjoying the new page for the Broadway Radio Show, which is SO MUCH easier to use.....plus we now can have archived shows.  The newest radio show, Tony Prelude, is up for your listening pleasure as we look back at previous Tony winning musical performances.  And, never fear, if you missed last week's show, you can still catch it in the Archive!

Diana Ross and the Supremes did a "cover" of a Jean Stapleton song.

The Supremes' "If A Girl Isn't Pretty" has been going around

The story on 60 minutes tonight is the arm I was talking about yesterday.  The brain surgery isn't necessary and maybe no surgery at all.  It's progressed since this was done

Got to judge a barbecue contest this afternoon. Fun. Tasty entries. There was a pulled pork pizza,  but unfortunately, it was a better idea than reality.

We are getting the first episode tonight too!  It seems like we are delayed for most of the competition shows that are  on speciality networks. I wonder if because it is on the Food Network US that the Food Network Canada can get it at the same time. We cannot get Top Chef at the same time.

Watching the first act of the musical version of "Lend Me a Tenor." It's not bad, but it's one of those shows that doesn't need to be a musical. The music just seems to bring the farce to a complete standstill.

DR ELMORE remember when you are driving a rental car you can tell which side the gas tank door is on by looking at the fuel gauge - the triangle next to a gas pump sign will indicate that for you.

I didn't know that!!!.

Neither did I!  That's a pretty cool idea...if I remember, I'll check tomorrow when I go to work.

While I was roaming thru YouTube today I came across a Barbra Streisand clip I had never seen before.  It was from a concert celebrating the 30th birthday of  Israel which would make it 1978?  Anyway, she looks beautiful and sings like an angel.  She does four songs. so the clip is like 15 minutes long, but it certainly worth viewing.
