Well, you've read the notes, the notes struck your fancy and your fancy said nothing, and now it is time for you to post until the fancy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PONIARD!
-
Is this a PONIARD which I see before me?
-
Am looking forward to tonight's "Supermoon"......should be a spectacular sight.
Enjoy,everyone!

Morning all.
That is all.

Good morning!
-
Good Morning. Time for Sugar and me to go for a walk (or so she tells me). And since it's Saturday, maybe I can get back to sleep for a bit afterward. Or not.
-
Good morning, all.
Saturday. It is. Indeed. Coffee!
-
Good morning, all!
I have a day to myself, with only household chores and errands, and I look forward to it. Tomorrow, I'll head down to Toyland, go through all of the orchestra parts and check that each is complete and properly taped. I'll pack them for shipment on Monday.
I have to tidy, put some things away, and vacuum. A trip to the market is a good possibility.
-
I don't know what else I will be doing today, but I know that I shall be procuring some pickles and some olives.
And, a propos of nothing, when will this vintage production of Bernstein's Mass be released on DVD?

We watched Mel Brooks' DRACULA, DEAD AND LOVING IT last night.
It had some funny moments, but need a few more gags.
The funniest scene was between Peter McNichol and Harvey Korman at the breakfast table when McNichol (as Renfield) is trying to hide the fact that he's eating insects.
-
DR TCB you would have been fantastic in ANGEL STREET.....why did you turn it down?

Great photos from the concert, Cillaliz.
It does look as if he has paid a visit to the Rob Lowe doctor from "Behind the Candelabra."
But as long as he sings the same ...

Good morning... I'm back on the west coast. A little disoriented, but that will pass. Our flight out of Orlando was delayed almost 3 hours because of weather in Chicago, so we didn't get in until after midnight. The DD was very happy to see me as I was him. A few days to get oriented, then I'm back on the road to So Cal and a 4-day cruise to Mexico.

The Town Assessor called to schedule an appraisal appointment for this morning. I waited around, but they stood me up! I hate it when that happens.

One of my favorite East German commie beach blanket musicals, "Heisser Sommer," is for sale on Amazon for $82,839.98 for a used copy. I don't think I like it that much.

Bought a black truffle today at the market. Have shavings now sealed up in a jar of eggs. In week, they will be scrambled into the most magnificent dish I know. Need that at a brunch with some Champagne.

TOD:
Coburn - my first smiling thought is always the Flint movies. And I can still hear his voice in Monsters, Inc.
Bronson - The Dirty Dozen
Happy lazy Saturday for those who get to be lazy. Happy Solstice. And happy Super Moon tomorrow - go super moon someone you love. :D

On June 21, 1969, I was in Ellensburg, WA attending summer quarter at Central WA State, and working summer quarter on the theater stage crew at the school. It was a Saturday night, and the two ladies working on the stage crew invited me over for dinner andto watch TV. I didn't have a TV where I was livng so this was a treat. We ate dinner, probably had a few beers, and watched TV. Back then, prior to Saturday Night Live, NBC used to show the Best of the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. That night, one of the guests on the show was Judy Garland. As I left to walk home, I said to Suzy and Dorothy, that one of my greatest goals in life was that, someday, I could see Judy Garland perform in person.
The next morning, the clock radio went off and the first thing I heard was that Judy had died.
-
DR TCB you would have been fantastic in ANGEL STREET.....why did you turn it down?
I turned it down for totally mercenary reasons. At the exact same time I was offered ANGEL STREET, I was also offered a chance to direct and star in a dinner theater production of Neil Simon's CHAPTER TWO. It was a nice paid gig, which at the time, I couldn't afford to pass up. CHAPTER TWO turned out to be a great success, but I always felt bad that I had to pass on ANGEL STREET. I always thought the chance would come again, but it never did.
-
Not yet, anyway.

Saturday morning greetings! Richard is in beautiful Oxford, OH, this morning rehearsing with the Miami University Men's Glee Club alumni for tonight's concert. They're performing in a tent on Slant Walk and it may be too hot for me to attend...
Do you have trouble with the heat aside from not liking it?
-
Oh, splurge a little, DR John G. Get them ALL cut!
-
I love it when HHW'ers take a vacation, because we all get to go!
True :)
-
I, too, have just arisen from a most delicious nap! They were so detested as a child, and are such a wonderful luxury now.
-
The next HHW group outing will be to the Bide-a-Wee Retirement Home. Bring your cameras!
-
Something wonderful happened to me last night, I SLEPT. I woke up twice but went right back to sleep. Now if only I can repeat this tonight I will be very happy.
-
Great news, DR Jane! :)

Interesting way to show the weather-lol

Thanks DR Singdaw. I really needed it though much more is needed before I am no longer sleep deprived.

I opted not to swim today and worked out instead.

Back from various and sundry errands.

Waxman CD arrived!

Do you have trouble with the heat aside from not liking it?
Well, I've never particularly liked it, but my tolerance for extremes of both heat and cold has diminished a lot since my heart attack. Maybe it's all in my head, but hot, humid days remind me too much of August 3, 2010...
-
About an hour ago Richard received word that the whole alumni fest has been moved into the ice arena. The weather radar shows massive thunderstorms heading right for us. I think I'll stay home.
-
Yes DR GINNY they are on the way!
-
Oh, goodie, DR JRand.
-
Well, it looks like we're in for a week of it, starting tomorrow. I came "this close" to turning the A/C on today, but tomorrow for sure.

I suppose I'll do a jog soon. It's very pretty outside and the singing bird seems to have come back to me. How many here remember the singing bird?

I get it. But I wonder how many other people here did.

Good evening to all.

Re: the cinnamon tree reference
Is it from "Man of La Mancha" ?
-
John G....I love the taste of black truffles...white ones as well.
Most addictive, not to mention the cost.
Enjoy!
-
Jane, getting a great night's sleep makes all the difference in the world.
Hoping you get 8 hours tonight..I have insomnia, so I rarely get as much sleep as I would like.
Jet lag doesn't help, and I just got back to California from the East Coast....exhausting.

Weather vibes for those in the path of massive thunderstorms!

Probably a combination. Either way you are smart to avoid getting overheated when possible.

Hello Everyone:
TOD: James Colburn, The Last of Sheila
Charles Bronson, The Sandpiper.
I not really that familiar with either of them.
I did enjoy both movies.
-
About an hour ago Richard received word that the whole alumni fest has been moved into the ice arena. The weather radar shows massive thunderstorms heading right for us. I think I'll stay home.
Traveling vibes for Richard and may you be the only one missing this event due to weather.
-
DR BK
I saw The Game years ago and I was really intriged by it.
-
It was a lovely 75 degrees here. Tomorrow rain & cooler temps are expected again. We really need the rain.
-
Yes The hockey game is on tonight.
Patrick Kane's (Chicago Black Hawks) Father grew up on the same street and me.
His sister went to school with DR Kevin.
-
Also his sister is an excellent singer.
-
I made my famous potato Salad today.
It was delicious!
I'll have to make some for DR Kevin when he comes to town.
-
I spent at least two hours on the phone with Barnes and Noble support. They are sending me a new Nook which I hope will eliminate the problems. Fortunately I can still use my Nook until the switch over. It will likely take another two hours (hoping I'm wrong here) for them to explain how to download everything onto my new Nook. It might be faster to drive the half hour each way to B & N.
-
Cillaliz---I really enjoyed your photos of Barry Manilow.
I remember when "Harmony" opened at the La Jolla Playhouse in 1997..it's based on a true story about a singing group that was disbanded ( no pun intended ) by the Nazis in 1935 because several of the members were Jewish.
BK's friend Danny Burstein played the Rabbi and his real-life wife, Rebecca Luker, played his wife.
Songs got good reviews, book did not.
-
Congrats JRand, on getting the part of "Man In Chair"---I love "The Drowsy Chaperone"!
Casey Nicholaw was also in the Barry Manilow musical "Harmony".
-
So far, so good on the thunderstorm front...
-
Richard's name tag for the Miami University Alumni Weekend has a sticker on it that says "45," meaning that this is that anniversary of his college graduation. And, DR Elmore's :-*
Of course, that means that this year marks my high school 45th...
-
Happy 45th to the three of you. :)
-
Thanks, DR Jane!
-
Back from a close to four-mile jog. Earlier I had a patty melt, picked up one package, and watched a motion picture. I went back to the edit road map and changed several things, then sent that off, then sent the track titles to the designer. If I feel up to it, I'll probably start writing the liner notes tonight - would like to finish them by Monday.
-
Only 45 years? Seems like 4500 years some days. I remember that in 1968 I saw Richard the evening of graduation, probably the first time I'd seen him in the 67-68 school term. It was late, around 10 or 11pm, I was walking down High Street to the apartment I was living in that summer with about five other summer theatre friends, and he gave me a ride to the apartment and told me he was going into the service, After he left, I cried most of the night, He was my best friend from 1957 through high school, and i was convinced I would never see him again because he would die in Viet Nam. The lucky bastard did his service in Europe!
-
Good afternoon. A nice day mostly spent outside.

DR Laura I just noticed this:
Wae-Ling Goldstein: "Hi Miss Laura."
Me: "Hi honey. Are you ready to go on our butterfly walk?"
Wae-Ling: "Yes!"
One hour and thirty-six minutes later...
Me (Answering cell phone): "Hello?"
Mr. Goldstein: "Hello. Is Wae-Ling with you?"
Me: "Yes ... we left the house well over an hour ago."
Mr Goldstein: "Ok. I didn't know she had left the house."
When did it happen?

I read that as "I bought a truffle today at the black market"
I was wondering why you were buying illicit truffles

I do not know what you are making with that truffle and those eggs,John G., but if I bring the champagne, may have a taste, please?

I had an exceptionally nice person with an accent I could mostly understand. My Nook wasn't cooperating as it should & locking up. My troubles began after a software update a couple of months ago. After numerous attempts to fix it I called back for them to wipe everything and reset it. What took so long was mostly putting everything back on. I am able to use the Nook it just takes a bit of work sometimes.

No, don't think I linked to music
-
I'm sorry -- yes, I meant Jane.
Funny story. I bought her a Camelback water carrier (you wear it on your back and suck the water through a straw) because I couldn't carry enough water for both of us in this heat. She thought it was the NEATEST THING EVER! She drank it ALL in the first 45 minutes -- and peed seven or eight times before noon.

DR Cilla the pic just showed up. I can see why you had such a nice day.

Thanks Vixmom. BK is right about his looks, but his voice was still great and full. I don't know how people do it with the fog machines. Just being in the audience with those things gives me a sore throat.

Yes he is ! He has three older half-siblings, only one lives at home, the other two are either in or just out of college. Two of them were there today.

They need to have another child, a girl. They should name her Dorothy. Then they would have Dot and Dash!

Actually, Sam isn't giving up until she gets a girl. It could happen

Good evening. Back from show. It's a nice evening, and SuperMoon is beautiful.

Meant to say this earlier today: I appreciated hearing how BK had been put off by the poster art (and subject matter) for HARD TIMES all these years. I don't really recall being aware of the film back in the day, but I was definitely affected that way when the Twilight Time announcements came down the pike. I had to keep going back to it to decide if it was something I'd definitely be interested in. When the disc got here, I spot checked it (like I always do, even if I'm not intending to watch something right away) -- and right off the bat I knew I had a winner.
So what is it about that style of poster art? It's a '70s thing, I think, that I can't quite define. It reminds me of THE STING poster. And this is often received as blasphemy so apologies in advance, but I never fully warmed up to that movie.
Anyhoo, just two cents. Will watch HARD TIMES this week. Probably Monday, as I usually only want to watch things seriously in the evening, it's too late now to start one, and I have another show tomorrow night (because of the outdoor venue, they don't do matinees).
-
Well, that certainly cleared the room.
So I guess I am indeed wide awake, and want to watch something.
What will it be?
Why am I asking you? Especially when there's no you here?
-
Goodness, still on page 5.

I should buy the TV movie, COPACABANA. I enjoyed it in a kind of campy way
-
Chas, are you still awake?
-
I need to go check the moon. I shall be right back.
-
There is a layer of clouds covering The Cascades, so I will need to wait about a half hour before I can really see the moon.
-
It was 78 degrees today, but they say it is supposed to cloud up tonight, and we may get some rain tomorrow night and into the first of the week.
-
The Taste of Tacoma starts next Friday and, at the moment, they are predicting temperatures in the mid-eighties for the entire weekend. They lucked out for once.
-
Well, DR Chas has disappeared from the list at the top, so I guess he has gone to bed.
-
I spent almost the entire day going through videos on You Tube. I was finding videos about the Titanic, the Britannic, and the Lusitania for my ex in Sun City. He still considers the computer to be a two-headed monster, but he is getting better at it. He does fine checking his e-mails, so I am sending him the addresses for clips that cover the topics about those ships that we were discussing last week on the phone.
-
Imagine that, I have even driven the Guests away!
-
BK, I just checked something that I should have thought of before. Our avatar pictures are visible to any and all guests who visit this site. On the previous board, only members could see our pictures. Is it too late to change that?
-
Hey Cilla, I am glad you enjoyed Barry. I would love to see him again.

I used to love going to concerts. But even before this stupid wheelchair, it became such a hassle. One thing is the price. The other thing, at least for me, is that crowds really bother me now. And with the wheelchair, crowds have become a bunch of assholes to me -- literally!
-
Well, I believe my work here is done.
G'night!

Tent raising vibes for DR GEORGE.
Thanks, Jack! Well, today was a day. I only slept for about four hours but I got to Sylvester Park on time. We got the tent set up fairly quickly. We didn't have it lined up exactly in the right place, but it was light enough that we just picked it up and moved it. Anyway, I hung around the booth for a little while and when it got time for those who were going to walk in the parade to get up to the meeting place, I decided to go along and walk the parade with the PFLAG group. We had a group of about eight or so and three people from the Tacoma PFLAG group had come down to walk with the Olympia chapter.
-
The worst part of the day was the hour that we had to just stand around and wait for the parade to start. It was quite bright out, quite warm and there was no shade anywhere. I put on sunscreen, but we'll see what I look like tomorrow. Otherwise, the walk itself was fun! It only took about 20 minutes. There were people all along the route and they were quite supportive and cheering as everyone walked by.
-
After the walk, it was not quite 1:00, yet, I was going to just get in my car and go home, but I ran into several friends afterward. My friend Jacqui (who was in the women's version of "Reservoir Dogs" asked if I was going to the reading of "A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" at Olympia Family Theater's space. I vaguely remember reading about it on Facebook, but didn't think about it. With the Pride celebration and parade, I didn't think about doing anything else that day. But I decided to go. I walked all the way across town to the space (maybe about six blocks and there was no way I was going to move my car and try to find another parking space).
-
When I went in, a few of the actors were there. Carv, a friend of mine, basically adapted the radio play and/or book into a (potential) stage play and this was to just hear it. No one was memorized and there was no blocking...it was a true "reading." He was already there and said he was glad that I was there. He asked if I could actually read a couple of the smaller roles at the end of the second act so that he wouldn't have to. I said sure!
-
So I sat in the audience (there were less than 50 seats total) for the first act and sat up with the rest of the actors for the second act. It was pretty good. There was nothing surprising about the script, but it was done well. I knew all but one of the actors (Patrick, who played Zaphod Beeblebrox), but I knew who he was from all the shows that he's done at Capital Playhouse. He was actually the best actor today. He really "acted" the part.
-
Carv said that he'd contacted the estate of Douglas Adams to inquire about getting the rights to do a stage version. We'll see what happens!
-
After the reading, I ran into my niece and we both didn't want to get back to the park until it was closer the official ending of the celebration...and we had to take down the tent, so we went to a local coffee shop (Batdorf & Bronson) and just sat in the air-conditioned place. I had a bagel. We sat and chatted for a while and left just in time to help pack up the tent that had been already taken down. We timed that out just right. ;)
-
I really enjoyed Boeing Boeing - it was well done and I stayed awake the entire time. Now, it's time for bed!
-
After that, I went to my sister's for a bit, then came home and took a unprepared nap. I was just going to close my eyes for a bit, but I didn't wake up until a couple hours later. I really needed the nap. I've now caught up on all the posts, watched several "Sing For Your Supper" YouTube clips (I love that song!) and that was my day! :D
-
I opted not to swim today and worked out instead.

I really like the London cast recording.

That's what happened to me with the cast recording of the musical Wings (http://www.amazon.com/Wings-1995-Studio-Jeffrey-Lunden/dp/B000003FZ2/ref=sr_1_6?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1371969635&sr=1-6&keywords=wings+musical). I didn't like the cover art, and I remember seeing it in Tower Records every time I went (when there was a Tower Records to go to), when it first came out. I kept picking it up and thinking about it and not buying the CD. Then, for some reason, I decided to just buy it. I figured it'll be one of those times that won't kill me if I spend money on something that I hate. Well, I loved the recording from the first time that I heard it. I thought that the story was very well told, the score was very good and I thought to myself, why the hell did I wait so long to buy this? It's still one of my favorite cast recordings. :)
-
Well, the new notes are up, the new day of posts is available, and today is not locked!
TIME TO PAR-TAY!!
;D
-
Actually, I'm now going to bed. I signed up to usher at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. Fortunately, the call time is 12:30 pm, NOT 8:00 am, like today.

So, good night all and have a great Sunday!
Better yet, have a sundae on Sunday! If I remember, I think I will. :D
