Well, you've read the notes, the notes were visual and an essay, and now it is time for you to post until the visual cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FEN!
-
I do hope everyone enjoys today's notes - they were fun to do.
-
I enjoyed them! I especially loved that several of the CC Brown's brownies featured banana ice cream! I noticed that one item listed "Milk Chocolate Dressing" and two had "Marshmallow Dressing." What makes them a "dressing?" I've never heard "dressing" used in that context. Sounds delish, though!
-
The only things I ever ordered at C.C. Brown's were the hot fudge sundae and the butterscotch (not very often - maybe three times total) - it's listed on the back of the menu, which isn't pictured.
-
And continued from yesterday:
After ushering (and reconnecting with Gary), I came home and changed my shirt to go to an audition! Some friends are holding auditions for a special show to celebrate the 10th anniversary of a local restaurant, Pellegrino's. My friend Tim will be directing and my friend Chad is producing it. TCB, Christian Doyle wrote the script! It's a murder mystery, but not improvisational where the audience interacts and you have to make sure that you give out your three pieces of information...nothing like that. It's totally scripted and for the first time in a long time, I really enjoyed the audition! It's a fun script and there are several roles that I could actually do. They're also having another audition tonight and I'm going to go back. They asked if anyone could come back to please come back. There weren't enough people from yesterday to cast the show, but I'm sure that more people will show up tonight.
-
And now, to bed. 8)
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
That was quite a photo essay, bk! Really enjoyed it, and so happy that the board's new technology allows you to do such things.

Lovely photo and new hairdo, DR Vixmom!
-
good morning to all
-
hope everyone has a great week
-
Good morning!
-
I enjoyed the notes and especially the photos, BK!

We had a wonderful dinner of pesto, whole wheat pasta, and sauteed vegetables last night. We just substituted nutritional yeast flakes for the cheese when making the pesto, and we were good to go. The flavor isn't quite as sharp as with the cheese, but honestly, you can hardly tell the difference!

Good morning, all! I needed to get some sleep and I went to bed early and slept very well last night. I had one peculiar dream: wandering about the some city on the New Jersey coast with an actor dressed in 18th century costume and working on something that might have been The Crucible. My cousin Judy was one of the costumers. I was unhappy with the fact that my breeches ended mid-calf instead of at my knees, and she was redoing them.
Back to Toyland today to finish up these orchestra parts. I have no other plans.
DR TCB, Kim is on the recording. I thought I had posted the cast for ROBERTA, but here it is again!
John Kent . . . . . . . . . Patrick Cummings
Huckleberry Haines . . . . Jason Graae
Stephanie . . . . . . . . . Annalene Beechey

Good Morning.
Good Monday morning.
;)
-
It's Monday again, isn't it?
-
I spent the last 2 days unpacking the last of the boxes I moved in with 3 years ago. It was really hard to let go of things. I'm down to stuff with memories. But this is a tiny tiny place, so 2 trips to the local Arc Foundation thrift store I did make.
:(
-
Off to work.
If I listed to 2 cd's a day, it would take over a year to listen to them all. Those I could not give up.
If I watched a movie a night, it would take over a year. The dvd's I could not give up.
:)
-
Mega vibes everyone.
:) ;)

Good morning, all.
Coffee!
-
WONDERFUL notes!
-
I wouldn't even know where to begin in imagining the treasures BK has accumulated over the years. But I know one thing: the stuff would make the greatest book or web site ever.
-
Good morning, all.
Great notes today. Loved the photos.
-
TOD:
Here's a photo of the Oriental House, which is up the street from where my parents live in Louisville, Ky. This was our catch-all place, special occasion and just when we wanted good food. Through the years various owners have had it, yet the food has always been dependably good and occasionally even excellent. I worked there for one day busing tables and would loved to have worked there, but I was only 14 and too young to be employed.

Beautiful, DR John G.
I so miss places like that.
-
What th'... ?
Can it really be 80 (and humid) already?
I guess it can. I'm just not used to this lately.

What do you think of my hat for the Royal Ascot... Too much?

Greetings from Toyland! Too damned hot and too fuckin' humid!

Too damned hot and too fuckin' humid!
Are those Cole Porter's original lyrics?
-
And the word of the day is: FEN!
And The Song Of The Day Is: MISSISSIPPI MUD
-
Monday morning greetings! I am easing into what will be a very busy week.
BK, I love, love, love your photo essay of bygone LA. Makes me nostalgic for 1950s and '60s Detroit...
-
Recent episodes of MAD MEN have included scenes in the lobby of the General Motors building in Detroit. My father worked in that building from 1953-1967 and I have vivid memories of the cars on display like we saw last night. I also remember the model cars like the one Bob brought to Joan's little boy. And I remember cellophane-wrapped, cherry-flavored hard candies in the shape of the Chevy logo...
-
Not my own photo (obviously), and earlier than I would have known it, but it's a great shot. (And look at how everyone is dressed -- in Miami Beach!) My memories of being treated to something here, after seeing a roadshow film such as "Mad World" or "My Fair Lady", are pure magic.

TOD 2: Here's an image of the Belvedere, a water fountain park in Louisville. When I was growing up, it was a place on the riverfront where you would go to listen to the sounds of water while sitting in the blazing sun. Nowadays, kids actually play in the water. I think that's a lot more fun. And cooler. They used to have ethnic festivals there. Also saw the Louisville Symphony play there a few times.

Loving all these DR vintage photos and reminiscences!
-
What do you think of my hat for the Royal Ascot... Too much?
Does anyone still wear a hat?
-
Well, to answer my own question - I had to this morning. As I stepped out of the apartment to take the DD for a walk, and it's RAINING. Can you believe it? Raining in June in the Bay Area <insert sarcasm here> We must have brought it home from Florida.
-
Well, DR Matthew, I was seriously considering standing in the wind once the Ascot was finished, and generating all my own electricity.
-
Just a fantastic visual essay in the notes! While my hometown of San Mateo (which I live in AGAIN!!) isn't as exciting and glamorous as LA, I feel the same way about certain things like restaurants, movie theatres, etc that are now gone or replaced. It saddens me about the movie theatres - everywhere, not just here - where the insides were ornate and well designed and now they are just gone. Like no one cares about the past anymore.
-
Well, DR Matthew, I was seriously considering standing in the wind once the Ascot was finished, and generating all my own electricity.
Wow, imagine all the colors of the wind that would have produced!
-
The only things I ever ordered at C.C. Brown's were the hot fudge sundae and the butterscotch (not very often - maybe three times total) - it's listed on the back of the menu, which isn't pictured.
C.C. Brown's. Yum! haven't thought about this place for years!
-
I like your hat DR SINGDAW, but you shouldn't hold your purse there.
-
BK, I so loved seeing all of the vintage shots in today's notes!! Thanks!
-
DR JohnG, Oriental House looks just like a Chinese restaurant should!
My nephew's girlfriend lives in Louisville. I will try to remember to ask if she ever eats there.
-
Not my own photo (obviously), and earlier than I would have known it, but it's a great shot. (And look at how everyone is dressed -- in Miami Beach!) My memories of being treated to something here, after seeing a roadshow film such as "Mad World" or "My Fair Lady", are pure magic.

I love everything about this photo!
-
Lovely notes with photos.....I enjoyed reading and SEEING them very much.
I don't remember that we went OUT to eat very much when I was growing up. But we did have hamburgers or shakes at the local Rexall Drug Store counter.
The Ritz Theatre was the town movie house that we frequented many times.....along with the Center-Brook Drive IN (half way between Centerton and Brooklyn) and the Maplecroft Drive In....which usually showed Little Rascals shorts with its movies....
-
MR BK the phone number on the matchbook cover of Kiru was DU-5 ... What did the DU stand for?
-
When I was growing up our phone number began with LY 7-
LY = Lyceum
When we moved to Mooresville it was VE 1
VE = Vernon
-
I took cat Freddy to the vet on Friday and he was put through all kinds of tests, pokes, and prods. He has gone from 13 lbs to 7 lbs over the last year but the tests did not show anything out of the ordinary as far as kidney problems, thyroid, and what not.
The doctor suspects cancer is likely, but as Fred is 14 years old, not much sense in tormenting the poor guy with more tests, not to mention the nasty treatments.
Doc gave me some pills to help with his appetite, and so that has improved. He won't drink water out of his dish any longer. Nor will he drink out of the toilet (which had become his favorite drinking spot over the last few months, for some reason). Fred will now only drink out of the bathroom sink faucet. Very odd.
Anyway, thank you all for the vibes.
-
Thanks for the update on DC Freddy, DR MBarnum. I was thinking about him on my dogwalk this morning, and wondering how he was doing. I hope that his remaining time with you is peaceful and fulfilling.
-
Thanks DR Singdaw
I myself am still recovering from this weekend's Mamie Van Doren movie marathon.
-
I hope you're feeling better, MBarnum. Recovering while watching Mamie Van D. can be hard on a system.
And more Freddy vibes.
-
The makers for DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES have a new show starting titled, I think, MAIDS. It sounds like it might be good.
-
I started watching a movie recommended, I believe, by BK called "Hitler's Children," a documentary in which survivors of the highest ranking members of the Third Reich are interviewed. The movie is only 85 minutes or so long, but I had to stop it midway through, as it was too much to bear in one sitting. I will return to it this evening, I hope, but it's as devastating a movie as Resnais' "Night and Fog."
And I see that the library has just gotten "Shoah," which is nine hours. Wonder how long that would take for me to get through?
-
I hope you're feeling better, MBarnum. Recovering while watching Mamie Van D. can be hard on a system.
You're telling me! Watching Mamie (as a college professor!) acting along-side Thinko the Robot and a chimpanzee is something likely to pop up in my nightmares for years to come.

On the other hand, her film THE BEAT GENERATION was surprisingly excellent...with much thanks to performances by Steve Cochran and Fay Spain.

Devious Maids. I recorded it. It started last night on Lifetime.

I LOVED drugstore (and five-and-dime) lunch counters. Even just stopping at one for a Coke was a treat.
-
But one of the large Woolworths (or whichever it might have been) in the then-thriving downtown Columbus was the place of my first BLT, for which I am eternally grateful...and to this day, I still think those lunch counters are the perfect places for same.
-
I have fond memories of my father taking me to the automats in New York City!

I've always loved that BEAT GENERATION poster.

That is a NICE poster!!!

MR BK the phone number on the matchbook cover of Kiru was DU-5 ... What did the DU stand for?
DUnkirk.
-
I'm up. I didn't fall asleep until two, so not quite eight hours.
-
It's overcast out, but I'll try to do the jog in about thirty minutes.
-
Ours were CApital and BElmont in Columbus, and LUdlow and JAckson in Fort Lauderdale.
-
Our phone number in Detroit started with BR-oadway.

BK: Do you have a menu from Coffee Dan's?
I do but I couldn't find it yesterday. I know I got one at some point when I was maniacally finding stuff on eBay.
-
More vibes to MBarnum and Freddy.
-
Sorry for yesterday's E & T situation (or if it looked like I was here when i was not). I hadn't realized I'd still been on when I walked away.

The hat's all right. But that purse is, as the French say, De Trop!
-
I'm extremely grateful for the "new forum" and the new "capabilities" of same. Loved today's column, Bruce. Love the nostalgic photos of favorite places.
-
Very enjoyable notes and photos!

I have fond memories of seeing them in "Pillow Talk". "That Touch of Mink".
-

Agreed (hence my de trop comment. Great minds think alike, it seems!)

With rest breaks, potty breaks, time out for phone calls and snacks, and the extra time for viewing all the extras, including three other films on the same subject the filmmaker cut from "Shoah" because it was too long, and I reckon you can watch it in four or five days.

Speaking of PILLOW TALK, it's been at least a week since the NY Times Critics Pick on LOVER COME BACK has been linked here.
http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/08/03/critics-picks-lover-come-back/
Is it generally felt that LOVER COME BACK has held up even better than PILLOW TALK, if anyone knows such things.

I guess kids today wouldn;t get the party line aspect of PILLOW TALK, but there are some fanciful aspects of LOVER COME BACK, too.

One of the things my family used to love to do was visit the Great Smoky Mountains in North Carolina. All during my childhood, my folks would drive us up to the mountains (it was a treat in the Summer, believe me!). One of my earliest forays into the mountains was a family affair (father's side). Here is a picture of me with cousins. Left to right, Vivian Davis, Jimmy Pulliam, Joyce Oliver and me:
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh119/RonPulliam/TriptoNCMountainsca19501-52-VivianDavisJimmyPulliamJoyceOliverampRonniePulliam.jpg) (http://s254.photobucket.com/user/RonPulliam/media/TriptoNCMountainsca19501-52-VivianDavisJimmyPulliamJoyceOliverampRonniePulliam.jpg.html)
Jimmy died young. He was hit by a car crossing the road from his family's mailbox back to his house. I don't recall how old he was, but it was a couple of years after this photo. All the rest of us are alive and kicking.
-
DR Vixmom I love the photo you posted last night. I think your avatar needs to be changed again.

DR George I'm glad your friend is still alive and found you yesterday.

BK,
Are the Bruin and the Village theaters still there?
It's been many years...even before I left Los Angeles...that I had been in Westwood.
If not, what's there now?
-
TOD:
All of the wonderful movie theaters and great restaurants that I frequented in Seattle during the 1950s-early 1960s are now gone.
:'(
It's one of the major reasons why I have no desire to go back there.
-
I too loved DR Vixmom's new fangled hairstyle photo....so lovely!! It would be an excellent avatar!
-
Bruce congratulations on your exciting news!
-
DR Ron Pulliam, how sad about your cousin :-\

What do you think of my hat for the Royal Ascot... Too much?
Not at all. Go for it.

I'm off to a meeting which includes some lunch. Then to drop off my turntable to be fixed and a visit to my storage facility. Also, to record a quick piano version of "People Will Say We're in Love" for this wedding/cruise thing next week. The couple met during a production of Oklahoma. Their choice of song, not mine. Anyway, that's my day and I'm sticking to it.
-
DR JohnG, Oriental House looks just like a Chinese restaurant should!
I just knew you would say this.
-
What kind of turntable, DR Matthew?
-
MR BK the phone number on the matchbook cover of Kiru was DU-5 ... What did the DU stand for?
The same as my father's office number which was just down the street from the Kiru.

Better the sink than the toilet. I'm glad the meds helped with his appetite. I'm guessing prednisolone is one of them.
VIBES TO DC FREDDY AND TO YOU!!

I prefer "That Touch of Mink" to all the other Doris Day movies of that era.

I agree with both statements. Nice family pic.

Yes Bruce, it was a fun trip back in time. I noticed on FB you had photos from POP but I wasn't permitted to comment. I should probably join the the POP group.
Do you have other mementos from the Kiru? Lunch at the Kiru with my father was always a treat.

I do have other stuff from the Kiru and will post it.

Still overcast and I've been working non-stop so I'll go eat then jog later today.
-
I'm sitting here waiting for the phone repair person and the phone rings. It seems to be working again. :o
-
Now I'm on hold waiting to cancel the repair person, unless they already know they fixed the problem. A phone call would have been nice.
-
BK, it will be intersting to see if anyone finds there way to HHW because they decided to reminisce about the old days and googled your dad's restaurant.
-
DR Jane, I am always disppointed when a Chinese restaurant does not look "stereotypically" Chinese.
Also, if the place is playing non-Chinese music inside.

Vibes for Freddy the Cat. Merlin the Magicakal Kat also drinks from the dripping faucet.

Nice photo DR RLP.
The Automat was in THAT TOUCH OF MINK and not LOVER COME BACK.....remember Audrey Meadows worked there and kept slapping Gig Young and throwing pies in his face when he tried to eat there.....she thought he was the one after Doris.....

I do have other stuff from the Kiru and will post it.
I look forward to it.
-
One evening in the early '70s, someone took a few friends and me to dinner at a Chinese restaurant on or near Lankershim Blvd. -- which is all I ever remembered (rightly or wrongly) about its location -- and that damned place has haunted me ever since. In my memory, it was a classic "nice" Chinese place, colorful inside and out, and I wish I could provide more clues as to its identity. Why I never made the effort to get back to it at some point shall remain a mystery, but in those first couple of years in L.A. I didn't even have a car, and got to the Valley only infrequently, so there you have it.
-
DR Jane, I am always disppointed when a Chinese restaurant does not look "stereotypically" Chinese.
Also, if the place is playing non-Chinese music inside.
LOL.
-
BK, I noticed in the notes that you mentioned you cannot scan any picture that is framed. Have you ever heard of a hand held scanner wand?
Something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/VuPoint-Solutions-Portable-Scanner-PDS-ST410-VP/dp/B002R0BFAA/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1372099701&sr=1-1&keywords=handheld+scanner+wand
-
Interesting. I wonder how well it works.
-
Nice photo DR RLP.

I do remember that. Thanks for the correction.
-
Bruce I see you are now a member of the Hamilton facebook page. Did you request the invite or did Jackie just add you without asking?
-
Back from some chicken tenders. I'll do a jog around three.
-
For those who know their Cincinnati:
Here's the last remaining vestige (as of about a decade ago) of a Chinese restaurant (name unknown) I was taken to twice in the mid-1970s. It was of somewhat more modern design, being situated in what I vaguely recall was a thriving mall or shopping center, but as the signage indicates, it was a nice place. When I drove by in search of it some years later, that entire shopping structure seemed to have been abandoned by the retail world and was being used for community services of one kind or another. I guess this is what was/is now called Swifton Commons, located on the east side of Reading Road.
And as long as we're into past glories of Cincinnati, I believe this site is just north of the long gone but fabled and eclectic Carousel Motel.

i love when Doris Day is shocked that she's asked to sing another chorus. :)
Just watched Pillow Talk last week and now have Man's Favorite Sport from the library.

DR Jane, I am always disppointed when a Chinese restaurant does not look "stereotypically" Chinese.
Also, if the place is playing non-Chinese music inside.
We have a Chinese restaurant here that people (not me) love and they play Italian-flavored music, specifically "The Godfather" theme in the background.
-
I am headed to an Act One rehearsal of ANGEL STREET - but we may finish early enough that I can head on over to THE DROWSY CHAPERONE for a bit....as well.....

:o
SPOILERS!!!
I haven't watched last night's episode yet!!
No major spills here, DR George - just a couple of things to watch for. The candies don't have anything to do with the show, but they were just the kind of thing the Mad Men would dream up.
-
DR Vixmom's new "do" is quite becoming!

I would like to go to a Chinese restuarant that plays the soundtrack (or cast album) for FLOWER DRUM SONG.
-
Music to eat Chop Suey by.

And I am home. I spent to much time cutting and pasting several orchestra parts for better page turns. It's one of the more frustrating things Finale cannot do, and my copyists are pianists who may be conscious of page turns, but are not necessarily savvy on where the turns should come. When you've got three copies of the same violin part, each needing a different turning point, Finale totally screws you up.

Regarding my earlier comments today, I want to make it clear that I adore and love Mamie Van Doren, and have since I was a kid. It is just that some of her movies are not of the same calibre as, say, GUNS, GIRLS, AND GANGSTERS.

You know, that is really not Mamie's most attractive pose.

Another beautiful sight at the restaurant Saturday night. The chef's husband surprised her by planting a row of these beauties, which were well over six feet tall.

LOL, Rick drinks out of the bathtub faucet. He will drink out of his dish when I don't turn on the faucet though. Glad Fred got checked out. Hopefully his appetite continues to improve.
-
DR VIXMOM LOVE the photo. The new style suits you very well
-
What kind of turntable, DR Matthew?
It's a Sony. Not very old, got it at Best Buy a few years ago. Hopefully they can fix it.

Okay, here's a sad shot (sad, because it's the only one I ever took, and it just isn't very good) of the "Beverly Hills Theatre" (formerly Warner) as I knew it for a few years starting in 1974. I'd recently started working at Litton Industries on Crescent Drive, and I remember the big deal being made about that Foreman fight being broadcast from Zaire into theaters, a new thing then.
I went to a number of second-run flicks there (I guess that's all they were showing by then), and since I not only worked there but lived less than a mile away (near Robertson), it was convenient and so nice to catch something enjoyable in the lap of the most beautiful old exotic luxury imaginable. This would have to rank highly among the L.A. theaters I miss the most.

bk, if you want to post pictures of things that are framed, try taking a picture with your phone without the flash and see if that is post-able

Didn't mean lol about the possible diagnosis, just about the drinking. They've been telling me Callie may have cancer for 8 1/2 years. I haven't had more invasive tests done either. Vibes for DC Freddie~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ha! Indeed.
One of the things I miss is that quasi-South Seas/Polynesian style so many of the Chinese restaurants affected. If nowhere else on the premises, that would usually be apparent in the cocktail menu with the outrageous color photos of various "exotic" concoctions.
-
Callie has had a new burst of energy lately. She's hanging out with the rest of us and isn't just sitting in her room. I think the raccoon really provided some entertainment for all of them. Last night Callie and Ricky made all kinds of noise in my room looking out the window.

Good evening, BK and DR's all!
Love your visual tour, BK!! I never arrived in L.A. until I toured through with FIDDLER ON THE ROOF ih in the early 80's, so I never saw the L.A. you grew up in.
There are two visuals that I carry with me from where I grew up, just outside of Philly. The first is the historic Keswick Theater in Glenside, PA. which was built in 1928, and was only closed for 3 years in the '80's for refurbishing. It is still a working cinema, and a live music and comedy venue today, hosting acts from Blues Fests, to Steven Wright to the B-52's.
I saw most of my movies there, while growing up in that area, with the exception of our family drive-in nights. The Keswick Theater also was where I discovered frozen Milky Way and Three Musketeers candy bars. God, I was a junkie. And I went to that theater at least once a week, even if it meant walking the two plus miles to get there. it was a treat I looked forward to all week long. The movie I best remember seeing there, for some reason, was "Wait Until Dark". As Audrey Hepburn cowered behind the fridge, I remember ducking down behind the seat in front of me, peering out, hoping she would survive. Yikes!
The Keswick is now registered as a Historical Landmark, and though this is a picture from the 80's, but it always looked liked this, except perhaps a bit dingier at times.
My other favorite place, an hour or so drive from my home, was the famous Bucks County Playhouse, which was not far from where Mr. Sondheim did his work with Oscar Hammerstein, if memory serves. This theater is where I saw my first professional production of any musical, and it was a wonderful production of "The Fantasticks". I also attended a seminar there during my high school days, led by Eli Wallach and Anne Jackson. We, of course, stayed that night to see Eli and Anne star in "House of Blue Leaves". A memory for the scrapbook indeed.

Diosa Costello has died. She played Desi Arnaz' romantic interest in TOO MANY GIRLS, and Ann Miller played her role in the film. I loved her recordings of "Spic'n'Spanish" and "She Could Shake the Maracas/"
-
I have been exhausted this afternoon. I don't think I ate lunch soon enough. Edith is gone for the week. We have a sign saying we're closed, and a machine with the same message, but I decided to leave the door open while I was there and ended up with a lead on a good case, and a couple other clients coming in. My Spanish isn't too bad when I don't have an interpreter. Anyway, I brought some work home but I really don't feel very good
-
I have a couple hearings and some deadlines this week. I'm sure I'll be feeling better. Especially if the cats let me sleep through the night. They haven't done that in a while

Back from a three-mile jog, picking up a package, and banking.
-
The Stanley Warner Beverly Hills was amongst the most beautiful movie theaters in LA. That's where Lawrence of Arabia played and many other road show films.
-
The whole day has basically been about this project we've saved from oblivion. It's on the fast track and we're doing the packaging now and I'll have to watch the film tonight so I can write the liner notes tomorrow. I think I'll just tell you what it is, because it's so amazing - but mum's the word as regards Facebook or any film music sites - one of the greatest films ever with one of the most iconic film scores ever - A Place in the Sun. If you'd asked me a year ago if the sorry tracks I heard could ever be saved I would have laughed on you. But saved they were and they sound unbelievably wonderful now - the guy is truly a miracle worker. We have fifty-two grand and glorious minutes of the score.

Good evening DR ryacko.
The Keswick Theater is beautiful. I'm sorry to say I never saw it when we lived in PA. We lived in Ivyland, 25 minutes from the Bucks County Playhouse. We spent 5 1/2 years there and I still occasionally return to visit friends.
-
DR Cilla, sleep well tonight and feel better tomorrow.
Ditto to myself.
-
DR Vixmom I love the photo you posted last night. I think your avatar needs to be changed again.
thank you - if someone could smallify it for me....
-
DR Ron Pulliam, how sad about your cousin :-\
..and I must say, you were a cute little dickens! You should have been in the movies!
I agree with both statements. Nice family pic.
And I agree with both of you. I "should" have been in movies. ;)
You oughta be in pictures,
You're wonderful to see,
You oughta be in pictures,
Oh what a hit you would be!
Your voice would thrill a nation,
Your face would be adored,
You'd make a great sensation
with wealth and fame your reward;
And if you should kiss the way you kiss,
When we're alone,
You'd make ev'ry girl and man
A fan worshiping at your throne.
You oughta shine as brightly
As Jupiter and Mars;
You oughta be in pictures,
My star of stars.

Good Evening Everyone:
TOD:
There was a small Mom And Pop Store in our neighborhood.
They had a Soda Fountain shop in the back of the store.
They had delicious Hot Fudge Sundaes and Chocolate Sodas. ( The Best Ever)
-
To this day my favorite dessert is a hot fudge Sundae.
-
When my family gets together we usually have hot fudge Sundaes for dessert.
-
Kate did you see my post about sending your review to your brother, who can then post it?
-
We used to make our own Chocolate Sodas.
In a large glass put Nestles Quick and milk(About a quarter of the glass)
Add 2 to 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream.
Then add Club Soda till the glass is full.
DELICIOUS!!
Only problem is I don't
think they sell Nestles Quick Anymore!
-
Yes BK I did see the post.
I will write it up and send it to Kevin soon.
I love Adriana!!!

Good evening again to all,
DR Ron Pumman - glad you enjoyed the memories.
And DR Jane, I don't know Ivyland, but I know the area near New Hope is beautiful. My family is mostly still in and around Glenside, so I always head to the Keswick curve when I go home to visit. it's one of those places that still looks a lot like it did when I grew up there.

Well, I must go to sleep now. In the morning, I'm taking my car in for servicing. I was planning on dropping it off tonight so that I wouldn't have to get up so darned early, but I had the audition AND I agreed to feed my friend's cats. That all happens too far away from my home and work for me to walk. Hopefully, I'll get my car in early enough for them...I forgot to ask exactly what time my appointment was for. Spoo!
Good night, all!
