Well, you've read the notes, the notes had balls, and now it is time for you to post until the ballsy cows come home.

Good morning, all! Today is the 57th anniversary of the Andrea Doria disaster. When I was a kid, the articles and reports on the sinking fascinated me.

This is my housekeeping day: laundry and tidying up the shambles this apartment has become in the past week.

More later.

Thursday morning greetings!  After two days out and about, I'm relishing a relaxing morning puttering around the house.  I do have to do some grocery shopping today and go to a membership recruitment event for AAUW this evening, but today will be much lower key than yesterday and the day before.

It stars Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins.

I have watched it several times, and I still enjoy it so!

I guess only book lovers would love it like I do.  I said to my hubby, thats where I would have liked to had worked.  A beautiful bookstore in London surrounded by classical books.

TOD - Singing.  I'd been told all my life I couldn't sing and some of my theatre friends here, including DR Elmore, encouraged me to start voice lessons at the ripe old age of 25.  I learned enough to stumble through some musicals, but mostly to appreciate the talent it takes to do it well.

DR BK,

In regards to yesterdays discussion of writing another Adriana book, please do so!

It would be interesting to see how Adriana grows and matures.

And of course If you had a new character like Aunt Kate, her eccentric aunt, to guide her it would most likely sell like Hot Cakes, LOL, ( Just Kidding)

All joking aside I really do Love Adriana and the other cast of characters.

I'm Back!

Getting back to the movie 84 Charing Cross Road, there was a poem I espeially loved.

Anthony Hopkins, as Frank Doel reads a poem called HE WISHES FOR THE CLOTHS OF HEAVEN by
Williams Butler Yeats.

I think it is just beautiful.  Here it is for all you poem lovers:

Had I the heaven's embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread soflty because you tread on my dreams

Does anyone else love this poem like I do?

Well we got through Act One last night.....so we will start with Act Two tonight....and probably work on some dance numbers.  I messed up some lines last night, and I forgot a few....  But at least now I know I can get through it.  The only line I forgot in a scene was during the Janet/Robert scene:

"This scene couldn't be more ridiculous...."  So everything kind of came to a stop while I was waiting for them to continue.....

Saturday night, we listened to a cheesemonger with a thick Texas accent speak in Italian. It prompted much laughter, but her Italian was surprisingly good, even if it sounded mangled and butchered almost beyond recognition.

Hello again,

DR ChasSmith,

I respectfully disagree with you regarding 84 Charing Cross Road.  I think that it transferred beautifully to the screen.

I suggest you watch the film in its entirety.  Maybe you will change your mind!

According to my "list" (yes, I have a little list), I do indeed have it on disc and I'll watch it soon, DR Kate.

I am dealing with a seller of movie memorablia who insists that I should be ok with my recent order of 10 vintage film booklets. I did order 10 film booklets, but 4 of those that he sent were were not the titles I had selected.

His response was that I paid for 10 booklets and I received 10 booklets. Oy!

Does the  original eBay listing tell you to select 10 or get 10 randomly picked for you?  If you are protected by the eBay listing, file a complaint ASAP. If you read it wrong, relax and think of England.

None of the above, as it was not an Ebay auction. He has a website which I ordered from. I sent him a list of the titles I wanted.

...and he sent me the titles he wanted me to have, evidently.

DR Jane,
I haven't read Helen Hanff's memoir.

I will try to get it at the library.

I'm glad you agree the poem is beautiful.

It has been a long time since I read it but I recall it is very close to the movie.

Finessed notes and got them where they needed to go.  Had some chicken tenders, picked up one package, although not an overdue one, and am now done for the day, save for maybe starting a new set of liner notes later tonight if I'm so disposed.  Otherwise, it's just a jog at some point and relaxing, which is what I need.

Maybe the way things work is that you can order again something you don't want and he'll send you the wrong order again with the correct items from the first order.

Does that make sense? I'm not sure.

She mentioned the threesome she had with you and Dave Madden...........Not.

No she didn't. She mentioned the episode because she suffered from see sickness and she got hypnotized to cure it and to this day she doesn't get sick. But I did read on because

she also talked about Dey having the hots for Cassidy and he wouldn't have anything to do with her. So I thought you might have come into the story.

but nada.

If and when I ever master the English language,  I would like to learn to speak Spanish fluently.

I was very proud of the small amount of Italian I managed to learn before I went to cruise the west coast of Italy.  I would have been better off if I had taken my CDs with me on the ship, but I was pleased with my ability to communicate while I was there.

Of course, four years later, I couldn't tell you how to say hello in Italian.

That was fun. Too bad they didn't get to sing.

I think Mr. Barrett has some work done on his face. He looks very different from the last time I met him. But still looks great

This is why I take lessons. I resemble this way too much. :)

One advantage of the wheelchair.  I don't have to take lessons, and I don't have to look like this.

Good evening. I spent the day around the Flagstaff AZ area. Very nice and cool up there.

Did you pay with a credit card?  Tell him you are going to report him.

I saw on another site Tabitha came up and BK's involvement in the first pilot episode. Well the second Adam came up in this news item regarding actor Dennis Burkley who passed away last week.  http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/16/showbiz/dennis-burkley-obit/?iref=obinsite

Strange evening. Going away party after work for two people who aren't going away. They're just moving to other buildings on campus. I guess when you employ 15,000-16,000 people, that can seem like going away.

Good evening.

Saw Garrison Keillor and Prairie Home Companion on their summer tour tonight.  It's always fun to see everyone doing their thing, but especially live.  Long show, too -- three hours, and what he does for a "standing intermission" is walk into the audience and lead everyone in folk songs and hymns.

Naturally, this had to be at a nice but outdoor venue on the coldest night in weeks, and naturally it had to start misting, and then raining very lightly but persistently toward the end.  But only a few non-hearty types left early, and it was a pretty fine evening.

Just relaxing after watching a motion picture on Blu and Ray - completely weird movie, which I kind of just went with thanks to its quirky performances.  This is one of the worst-reviewed movies of the last decade and it didn't even get a theatrical release, and it's easy to see why.  After loathing pretty much everything from its once great director, this one at least held my interest for most of its eighty-three minutes.  Then I made the mistake of watching the director's granddaughter's making of video.  After watching that, I just realized this once great filmmaker is clearly out of his cotton-pickin' mind.  And pompous as you can get.  I don't know how exactly he can afford to fund a movie like this and have it lose every penny.

Cool...Garrison Keillor is coming to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts next season!
