Title: TOO MANY FILES AND DIRECTORIES AT THE ROOT LEVEL
Post by: bk on August 03, 2013, 12:22:11 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes had too many files and directories at the root level, and now it is time for you to post until the root level cows come home.

Good morning, all! I'm on my first cup of coffee and listening to Irish pub songs; I was having this huge dream last night about the Dubliners' song "Whiskey In The Jar," so I'm having a listen this morning.

I will shortly take the bus to Toyland; I'd like to finish the act one corrections for DEAREST ENEMY and get into Act Two.

DRJRand62, I did not see any post about Merlin. How did I miss it?

Awake WAY too early, so laid around for a while.

Enjoying some good coffee, and pondering what the weatherman has in store.  It's supposed to clear up, but I dunno.

Sorry to see that actor Michael Ansara passed away.  Even sorrier to see that most of the headlines featured his Star Trek role; not his star-making role as Cochise on the TV series BROKEN ARROW.  How soon they forget. (I also remember him as Sam Buckhart).

I love Jack Benny.  He was the greatest of them all.  Before TV, we used to listen to his radio show every Sunday.

When I was a kid, he did a live show in Seattle, and my folks took me to see it.  He had family in Seattle.

There is an article in today's NY Times about companies that consider themselves "Christian Companies." We've all heard about Chik-fil-A, of course. But Hobby Lobby puts itself in that category, as well as In-N-Out Burger. That last one was what caught my eye. Apparently In-N-Out Burger puts small, inconspicuous bible quotations on all of their food wrappings and containers. Interesting.

The songs were "meant to be sung not by the coyly glamorous Ms. Channing but by the forthrightly workaday Ms. Merman" - I never thought of Merman's performance  as Forthrightly workaday, but an interesting review.  Thansk for posting it.

Happy Saturday, all!

Oh no, my site is hosted by GoDaddy too. I've never heard such nonsense like that about too many root files. Lordy, I'd better go through and dump some of mine as well, though, I doubt I have anywhere near as many as you do, BK.

And the odder thing is, how is it that your site worked anyway on GoDaddy computers? How can they troubleshoot, if they're not getting a proper normal internet viewpoint? Sheesh.  I better keep an eye out for this kind of thing. Thanks for the heads up.

Back to music...

I was never a particular fan of Kirk Douglas.  But speaking of Kirk, this morning before I got out of bed, I was watching the Classic Arts Showcase channel and they showed THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86v05kSTZ3Y) dance from the ballet version of "Spartacus" by Khachaturian!  Who knew that there was a ballet?  Not I.

Do you think Shirley Jones would have trouble with this on YouTUbe?

When We're Swinging
Tune of Partridge Family theme (When We’re Singing)

Go on Jack, and go meet Cole Porter
When you’re swinging
Don’t bring home a chorus girl, that is an order
When you're swinging

Jack’s so great and she loved him truly
He brought somebody home
And I guess she said okay
Then Joanie came over with Anthony Newly
And they had a lovely dinner and Joan said: "No way -

Come on now you’ve got to be kidding
None of that swinging
There's nothing sweller than Shirley's best seller
But without swinging
Without swinging”

Has anyone seen this movie (Dr Zhivago)  It received a three star rating!

Only 3 stars!

We have a movie poster framed on our wall.  I'm not sure it isn't just a copy, still we like it.

i don't really have a favorite kirk douglas film.

Not I.

Not I-lol

The music for the ballet was distracting as it had to compete with my washer and dryer which are both doing their jobs.

I swam today and gave my coveted single lane to another swimmer.  She rewarded me by letting me pet her service dog.

Letting her have the single lane wasn't too bad today as I only had to spit a double lane with another swimmer and not several people.

Had a pretty terrific stumble-through - some fumfers with lyrics but everyone doing a great job.  The guy with the wordiest song is struggling with it, although if he nails it he'll stop the show - but I can seem him just getting in his own head about knowing it.  He DOES know it but he's so worried about not knowing it that he keeps tripping himself up - hopefully he'll just drill and drill and then just DO it.   Chelsea, our replacement gal, was letter perfect today - an amazing feat considering she got her three numbers two and a half days ago and didn't know any of them, and especially amazing that she nailed I Ain't Down Yet perfectly.  It's a great cast and you can't beat the songs.

I just watched the 3rd disc of LARK RISE TO CANDLEFORD Season 2, and now I have to wait for the 4th disc to arrive from Netflix next week. I don't think Season 2 is as good as the first season. There's much I like about it, but there's a certain "let's wrap it up neatly in this episode" quality at times that bothers me, along with an approach at times to the cute, Happy Villagers that makes me expect them to burst into a rousing chorus from some operetta.

One thing I love about my kindle is that the size of the print is always perfect.

This doesn't happen very often, but today I started reading a hardcover from my library. And the print is not good.  I am really unhappy. There are 35 lines per page. And 12-14 words per line. It just doesn't feel comfortable. Most books I read have 26 lines per page. or 29.

And this is a well-established author.  I don't understand what publishers are thinking when they make the print so small. :(
