Well, you've read the notes, the notes were reborn, like Seconds, and now it is time for you to post until the reborn cows come home.

And the word of the day is: ALLOCHTHONOUS!
Smoke on your pipe and put that in.

A Very Happy Birthday to DR Vixmom!! :D
-
Good morning, all!
Yesterday, the Hibernian Club changed its Wi-Fy and telephone server, so we had no internet. The new system is now up and running. Yesterday, we ran through the entire show from beginning to end, which continued after break, followed that with a work session for the trio of couturier ladies and Annalene's "Lovely To Look At."
It was a really good rehearsal, and I think we're in pretty good shape. This morning, Rob and I rehearse the stage band, and this afternoon is our first orchestra rehearsal. I'm looking forward to hearing these orchestrations. They've never been recorded before.
Last night, Judy Sherman and I had a wonderful dinner with Philip O'Reilly, who sings on EILEEN and DEAREST ENEMY, and his partner Sally. I really love Philip and I'm sorry that he's not on this recording; he's a wonderful singer and actor, and so good at his craft.
Dinner was at Harry's, and it was excellent. Sally had salmon, Philip had some other fish, Judy had the fish pie, and I had fish and chips, followed by an excellent parsnips cake and ice cream.
And now I must prepare for today's rehearsals.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday Felicitations to Our DR vixmom !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did look in the fridge and there is a gift wrapped package in there! So I will have birthday surprise for lunch I guess!!

I am doing something i haven't done in about 17 years. I am auditioning for two plays tomorrow. One is a male version of Vanities. The playwright rewrote his original play about cheerleaders as football players.
The other one is Love! Valour! Compassion! which I've seen the as a movie. the play is quite different and there is nudity which I've never done before, but after all these years I've thought what the hell why not give it a try.

I kept having the nagging feeling that today was some special day. Now I know why--

Great notes this morning. I just want to say I loved SECONDS from the very first. I see it was released in late 1966, so, my senior year in high school. I think I know which theater it played in, but can't be positive. But then it disappeared, and maybe there was a showing I caught at some time during the intervening years, but I may actually not have seen it again until TCM. I captured that on DVD-R, which was very important to me as the DVD had gone out of print fairly early and I never saw a reseller price I wanted to pay. The Criterion shall be mine. MINE. Without even waiting for the next B&N sale. Yes, that's how much MINE it shall be.
-
And how great to enjoy that whole number from THE CREATURE WASN'T NICE. BK, you have absolutely got to find those elements. I'm afraid we're going to have to insist on it.
-
Very Happiest of Birthdays to our own DR vixmom !!!!!
Lawn Guyland is going to be hoppin' tonight, lemme tell you. Hoo boy!!
-
So, the TOD. Let's see.
BLU:
Body Double, starring ryacko.
Robinson Crusoe on Mars
CD:
Shock Treatment. Jerry Goldsmith. And the only non-Kritzerland soundtrack I've bought in the past year. (Just because I don't buy all that many CDs. I'd buy many more if I could, but most of my (haha) disposable goes toward movies.
-
Happy Birthday, Vixmom!
-
TOD:
THE WALKING DEAD, Season Three
I also have a few things recorded:
PAYMENT ON DEMAND
SLANDER
THE KING'S THIEF
GONE
-
Re: SECONDS
I also think it is an excellent film, and that Rock Hudson is excellent in it.
I saw it when it was first released, and although I know it bombed at the box office, my memory is that the reviews were positive. Otherwise, I would not have seen it because I was never really a Rock Hudson fan.
However, as good as it is, SECONDS is not a film that I "like". I find it to be too depressing.
-
Happy Birthday to DR VIXMOM with a lovely new avatar!
Continued vibes for Richard for the consultation this morning.
-
Last night's audience for THE DROWSY CHAPERONE was most excellent.....lots of laughs from the beginning and generous applause for all numbers....the two numbers that received the greatest receptions were "Aldolpho" and "Message from a Nightingale" - much deserved in each case.
-
I have only seen SECONDS on broadcast television....so I haven't really "seen" it.....
-
Richard's procedure is complete and he now the proud owner of 2 - count 'em 2 - stents.
He's sleeping now.
-
Well I have to start moving these old stumps the boss has instituted an unpaid hour early meeting every two weeks - maybe I should get myself a new job .....
As an HR person I can say that I don't think that is legal!

Tomorrow is the annual Independence Day picnic for the India-US Friendship organization, Salem chapter. I am in charge of prizes for the kids games, which I have already picked up at Dollar Tree. Now I just need to figure out what to bring, food wise.
Grand-nephew Cole and grand-niece Harper will be attending with me. It should be lots of fun...well, it will definitely will be interesting to see how I do dealing with a 1 year old in tow! Normally I wait until age 3 before taking the little ones out and about on my own..but there will be lots of moms there to help me if I find myself lost on what to do.
-
TOD:
DVR:
Have some episodes of THE JACK BENNY SHOW recorded
DVD: Not sure
CD:
Dakssh Ajit Singh's latest CD which I downloaded from Amazon.com.
Yep, I finally have slowly started to download albums. It is so easy and convenient!
-
DR Vixmom, yes I think you ought to begin looking around for a different job. Something with regular hours. You need your rest and you need your sleep and you need your life. You had one close health call...you do not need to have another!!!
We like our Vixmom to be healthy and happy, you know!
-
DR Ginny, I hope Richard is feeling much better today and that all is well!!!
Thank you, DR MBarnum! He's pretty groggy now and not happy about having to stay flat on his back. Been there, done that.

Glad to hear the music is flowing smoothly in Dublin, Elmore.
Best of luck on the auditions, Mike.

Happy birthday, Vixmom!

I placed an order at the library for Seconds just this past week. I wasn't familiar with it, but the names Frankenheimer, Hudson, Randoph, Geer, et al. made me really curious. Now, I just wish they'd get it to me.

TOD:
DVD: Parade's End, The Killing second season

No, no, no. I enjoy spending time with the little ones, but I am completely happy to be able to return them to their parents once (my) exhaustion sets in!
Of course it is my duty, as an uncle, to return them highly sugared up!
-
Speaking of Anne of Green Gables, as JohnG did in his post above...I sure wish that TCM would show the sequel to that film titled Anne of Windy Poplars. Saw it way back around 1990 on AMC and haven't spotted it playing since.
TCM shows Anne of Green Gables all of the time.

Have been watching a lot of Punjabi films lately, and this newcomer, Jimmy Sharma, has really gotten my notice. Very good actor and a spectacular dancer!
Can't wait for his next film to release!

Self-evident.

I am not complaining about the perfectly lovely weather we've been having in the metro-NYC area these past 3 weeks! :)
I'm complaining about ours. The days are glorious, but the nights are warm and breezeless...decidedly uncharacteristic. Night time is when the fog rolls in and cools us off...natural HVAC, so to speak. The past two nights, however, have been too warm.
-
CDs arrived!
-
I'm up thanks to the ringing of the telephonic device a little before nine - I really wish people would not call before ten - I have no idea who it was but I'll listen to the message in a bit.

No kidding. This is exceptional.
Not exactly what one thinks of when one thinks of August, but we had that in July, and we haven't had a real Dog Days August in a few years. 2010 was hot all summer, so that was the last really hot August, I think.

Pwoject Wunway Afterthoughts:
Another (the 3rd) "unconventional materials" challenge of the season. Oy!
Team challenge (teams of 3).
One team completely mismatched and an instant losing team.
Tim Gunn was not much of a mentor to them. Normally, he would say "Well, MAKE IT WORK!" Not last night. Nossir. Last night he said it was a guaranteed bottom finisher. He expressed exasperation. He offered nothing but contempt.
When he led the models of the top and bottom finishers down to the judges for a closer look, he confided that the losing team caused him to "lose it" in the workroom.
That, to me, was a very mealy-mouthed and self-serving comment to make given that he offered nothing in the way of "mentorship" to any of the three struggling designers.
I am very disappointed in this season...and in most of the judging, thus far.

I am back in my room. Rob and I went to Harry's because I had raved about last night's dinner, and I'm happy to report that it was quite deelish; for starters, he had carrot-parsnip soup, and I had a parmesan and rocket salad. We both had the baked salmon and the parsnip cake with ice cream.
The schedule on this recording is constantly changing behind my back, so this morning we did not rehearse the stage band - we don't do that until Wednesday, when we record them with Kim and Jason! - so we had the full orchestra for both sessions. We got through all of Act One and the first three numbers of Act Two. Tomorrow morning, we'll finish Act Two and add the singers to the band for the second session.
-
TOD:
Blu-ray - Picked up a couple of box sets going cheap. SUPERMAN ANTHOLOGY and the extended versions of LORD OF THE RINGS.
TV - Just watched ALL GOOD THINGS, which I'd never heard of but which stars the great Frank Langella. Excellent drama/thriller.
-
Happy Birthday to DR Vixmom!!
-
It was nice to see players from previous sessions, and I was flattered to learn that the players all want to be working with me. The scores sound amazing, and I believe this recording will be as much a homage to Russell Bennett as to Kern.
DR vixmom, you asked about my leg. I think it's improved as much as it can for a while; I move awkwardly, I have horrible pains when I stand too long, the pain meds don't seem to do much but dry out my mouth, and I am counting the days to returning to NYC. I will be sorry to see this project end, but I'll be glad to be out of the airport-transportation mess.
-

Our library just released it today, and I could've gotten a copy if I'd looked before they got put into the courier bins. I placed a hold online, so it'll go out to a branch then come right back to me. Right now, there is only one hold for four copies so I'll get it pretty quickly.

Listening to an upcoming master - sounds great and a major score from a decade without many major scores and an unusual decade for Kritzerland - but it's a composer I really like and so it was a no-brainer. The original CD release at the time of the film was about thirty-nine minutes, of which ten minutes or a bit more wasn't by the composer of the score. Our release is a whopping seventy-eight minutes, of which ten minutes isn't by the composer.
-
Wow.
1940s?

Wow.
1940s?
I'd say that "Preminger at Fox" and "Laura" makes the 1940's a major decade filled with Major scores. Also, there weren't any CD releases at the time of release of films of the 1940s, or 50s, or 60s or 70s....
I'm thinking 1990s....maybe even the 2000s...

I say 1990's since original release at the time of the film was on CD.
Off to the penultimate performance of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE

Actually, I started to post 1930s first. Didn't even think in terms of those latest decades! :)

It would definitely be a two CD set.
-
I've been writing liner notes and listening to the raw tapes for that score. This will be a major release for us - I'm trying to fast track it so it's next but that's dependent on how fast I get the road map done. There have been three previous CD releases for this score - it's by a beloved composer. Each release has included more music, but shockingly none were complete (there was about three minutes of short but great cues left off the longest of the releases). I pulled the three-track mix tapes and had them transferred and it looks like we have everything including the missing cues. Plus, we can have some interesting bonus tracks, too. This will be one of the few releases where we go to 1500 and I think it will still be an instant sell out even at that number - in fact, I could probably go to 2000 but then five hundred would sit there for six months while people thought they had all the time in the world to get it. So, 1500 it will be. The original CDs had a few tracks combined into longer tracks - I do that all the time, but what I don't do is crossfade the incoming new track under the outgoing old track because you end up losing the last few notes of the outgoing track and I HATE that. So, we're either not combining those really long tracks or we will keep them long but not have the cross fade.
-
My nieces both got their swimming report cards yesterday. I can't imagine that there were any kids more excited by their reports. They both passed to the next level. My 4 year old niece can now swim an entire lap. And my 7 year old niece moved up to gold.

I can't imagine anyone wanting crossfades on a CD. Are the individual tracks complete? Would they sound good on their own? I would hope so. I (usually) don't even like repeat-and-fades in songs. I want them to end.

It would definitely be a two CD set.
:) :)

Break a leg!!

Goodnight All!

What a surprise from DR Singdaw! Given the difficulties involved in major relocations, having a lot of time is a big help. Strongest vibes that it goes as smoothly as possible.
-
DR John G and I often watch the same shows. I, too, watched THE KILLING season 2 this week. I liked season 2 better than season 1, but I think it just took me a while to get into the story.
-
I am very tired. TTFN.
-
Oh, enjoying DR Elmore's reports from Dublin.
-
I would like to hear about Vixmom's birthday surprise lunch box.
there was a green salad with carrot shavings, sliced steak and grilled mushrooms and 2 home made chocolate chip cookies!!
Give me that!

Well, the amount of whooping and hollering tonight could only have been exceeded if they'd been doing an even more "now" musical than LES MIZ.
Granted, this was community theater, and the first production in these parts other than the school edition. It's a crazy sell-out and a rousing success. And boy, did the audience play the HELL out of its expected part. Oy!
-
Mike, break a leg at auditions!!
-
Continued health vibes to DH Richard!
-
It was nice to see players from previous sessions, and I was flattered to learn that the players all want to be working with me.
Elmore, you need to make sure and call your airline, at least, 24 hours ahead of your flight and tell them that you will need a wheelchair. The only way I made it thru on my trip was the kind assistance I received by the airlines.
-
And Happy Birthday to Mae-Ling Goldstein!!! :)
Ditto!
-
elmore, enjoy your time in Dublin, but please take care of yourself!
-
I gotta tell you.
-
But I won't.
-
Got one set of liner notes done and to the designer and did the edit road map for that same project, which is now on the super fast track to announce a week from Monday.
