Well, you've read the notes, the notes were written simply, and now it is time for you to post until the simple cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PSALTERY!
-
Get me off this damn page.
-
bk, "Simply" is simply gorgeous! And Lanny's orchestration is beautiful. Congratulations.
-
Now I think bk should write a song entitled "Change of Halibut."
What is it, fish?
-
Thank you to DRs George, Vixmom, John G., Cillaliz, and TCB.
This too shall pass.
:)
-
Good morning, all!
"Simply" is simply lovely, and it makes me anxious to hear more of the album. It's really lovely, and Lanny is so good at his craft; I've always loved working with him or hanging out with him.
Day Three of recording ROBERTA today, and (knock on wood) we are still on schedule. I have to say goodbye today to my beloved Annalene, and I know I'll cry; I dearly love her. Both she and John Molloy have little bits to finish; she's got "Lovely To Look At" and a couple of high B-flats to sing, and she's back to London. John is going off to an opera, L'Elisir D'Amore in Belfast. That leaves Jason, Kim, and PAtrick for tomorrow's sessions.
I've got a wheelchair waiting for me on Thursday at the Dublin airport, so that takes a great deal of the travel stress off my mind. The leg is sporadic in its painful outbursts, sometimes when I am walking but more often when I'm simply standing still. It doesn't like walking long distances, and sometimes the cane is no help at all.
So, I am off to the Helix. I wish you all a really good day!
-
Have another great day of recording, Larry!!
~~~Continued Leg-Get-Better Vibes!!~~~
-
And now, to bed...perchance to actually sleep.
8)
-
But before I go...yesterday, Vixmom wrote (http://www.haineshisway.com/smf/index.php?topic=3708.msg902781#msg902781):
Happy Belated birthday to George's Dad
Thanks, Vixmom, except Sunday was just the familial celebration because my sister and niece were going to be out of town. Actually, TODAY is my dad's 75th birthday, so you're not late. You were early! :D
-
And now, I'm off to bed. :)
-
A very Happy Birthday to DR George's father! :)
-
Continued ~ ~ ~ RECORDING VIBES ~ ~ ~ to DR elmore3003! So relieved that you will have that wheelchair at the airport on Thursday.
-
And continued ~ ~ ~ VIBES OF RECOVERY ~ ~ ~ for DH Richard!
-
bk - it looks like the Max Preeo interview cuts off midway through... just thought you should know.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Larry, I'm glad to hear you've already arranged for a wheelchair. Glad to hear, also that things are going well in the studio. We look forward to your return.
-
Good morning, all.
Coffee.
Banana.
-
A beautiful song. Maybe I'll play it on The Big Speakers later for a somewhat better preview, since the sound on this laptop is so horrible. (Which is kind of amusing, since it was actually an advertised feature. Oy!)
-
good morning to all
-
I was on the fence about ordering SEXY BEAST, not knowing anything about it except that it was only from the turn of the millennium -- but on reading the notes and checking back on a few other comments, I've decided to go for it.
-
DR Larry
Glad to hear things are moving along with the recording sessions.
-
DR LARRY
Have you arrange for a chair in New York as well?
-
BK
Very nice song and the orchestrations are perfect.
singdaw, sending our wishes for a smooth move (and everything surrounding it)
Was I a day behind on the notes? I must go remedy that.
-
We got our David Raksin - Otto Preminger et al CD
-
That's our page 2 news.
-
:)
-
Good morning.
Mega vibes everyone.
:)
-
"Simply" is beautiful.
:)
-
Thanks so much, DR FJL!!
-
Lovely song!
-
I love "Simply" and can't wait for the CD!!!
-
I don't think there was a TOD in the notes....but I may have missed it....
Today Precious goes to a new groomer.....and the car gets an oil change.....so we shall see what we shall see.....
Don't get the two errands mixed up, DR Jrand62.
TOD:
-
Late last night -- (this is the first post in an hour and twenty minutes?) -- I put in 84 CHARING CROSS ROAD, and it certainly is lovely. I knew I wouldn't last, but I got through half of it and I'll finish it today.
-
And then I must reread the book. Which is an all-too-short but blissful read.
-
Great song, BK!
-
Good morning, all.
Leg and tape vibes for Elmore.
Hump Day vibes for all.
-
Add my simple support to the chorus of "Simply" lovers.
-
Yes continued Irish vibes to DR ELMORE.
-
Car is groomed and oil is being changed in the dog.....no wait.....switch the nouns..... :D
Tuesday morning greetings! I presided over my second Middletown AAUW board meeting last night at my very own dining room table. Richard and I watched some TV after the ladies left and I crashed. We are having a quiet morning, but need to go out and about this afternoon.
Thank you for all the vibes - he's doing great!
Great to hear that.
-
I simply love "Simply."
-
I'm up, I'm up, thanks to a telephonic call from the fellow who runs the Kander and Ebb publishing. According to him Mr. Kander is very excited we're going ahead with And the World Goes Round and wants to chat this week about casting, just to throw some ideas into the ring.
-
So pleased people like Simply.
-
I think I got eight hours of sleep.
-
I just loved "Simply". Then again, bk writes in a style that I instantly take to. While I realize that an orchestration can sometimes make or break a song (or a show for that matter) bk's songs are great with just a piano. I don't know what it is, but the lyrics and the music always grab me.
-
And on that note, I think I'm off for a bit. But will return
-
BK, when you're talking with Kander, get the rights to record his new show, "The Landing," too.
-
Just sayin'.
-
I think I posted something about Hump Day earlier. It just realized today is Tuesday. Oy.
We need some SHOCK TREATMENT to get things moving here.
-
Just did a 30-minute basement walk - haven't done that in a long time. I'm listening to Diane Keaton read her memoir Then Again.
-
ChasSmith, weren't you looking for a DVD of "The Loved One" recently? Warner Archives announced today that it will be releasing it.
-
DR Druxy,
That must have been exciting to have talked to Elvis. What was he like? And by the way what was the Colonial's problem?
-
DR Singdaw,
Don't worry, the months will fly by and you'll soon see your DH again.
Moving is very hard, but also very exciting!
Remember, your HHW friends will keep you company!
-
Thank you, DR John G.! Just got the email -- that's great news!
-
And the word of the day is: PSALTERY!
And The Song Of The Day: THE THIRD MAN THEME
-
Good morning, all!
Beautiful song, BK, all around. So glad everyone is taking to it.
-
DR ChasSmith,
Did you ever see Shock Treatment? Is it any good. Must be if Lauren Bacall is in it!
-
more Shock Treatment.
-
Thank you very much, DR Kate! :-*
-
DR ChasSmith,
Did you ever see Shock Treatment? Is it any good. Must be if Lauren Bacall is in it!
I saw it when it came out in 1964, but I'm afraid I had no appreciation for Bacall at the time. I'd read the movie tie-in paperback, and it was the kind of thriller I ran to in those days, and can appreciate all the more now.
BTW, it's easy to conflate the title with SHOCK CORRIDOR -- and as I recall, the basic premise is somewhat similar. Maybe less wacky.
I've been wanting to see it again for years, but it's one of those that seems to have fallen into a black hole. It's never been released to home video, and I have no idea whether any TV channel ever shows it, but I've never caught sight of it. I did recently get the soundtrack CD (score is by Jerry Goldsmith, and it's mouth-watering).
-
I am back from Day Three of recording. In thirty minutes I meet my Dublin production team for dinner. This was a tense day, with a bit of fur flying over getting through everything needed today. We've cut the instrumental portion of "Lovely To Look At" and I don't know - or care much, actually - if we get to that because Annalene's vocal is so lovely. It did get very tense in the second session about finishing, and it got tense on the same issue with EILEEN and DEAREST ENEMY and we got it all, but it was an uneasy afternoon.
Tomorrow we finish and it will be great.
So, I don't know about the NYC wheelchair, but I will most definitely check on that at the airport on Thursday morning. I'm off to dinner.
-
A very Happy Birthday to DR George's father! :)
Thanks...and my dad thanks you! :D
-
Larry, I'm glad to hear you've already arranged for a wheelchair. Glad to hear, also that things are going well in the studio. We look forward to your return.
Ditto, Ditto and Ditto!!
Hang In There VIBES to DR ELMORE!
I've discovered how to scan using the copy machine in the rectory at the church. This is a good thing.
-
Busy little morning and suddenly it's afternoon. Had a long telephonic conversation with a composer of an upcoming Kritzerland release, created invoices for The Miracle Worker, which is shipping in the morning, went over our stock, which has several titles that are about to sell out.
-
I'm up, I'm up, thanks to a telephonic call from the fellow who runs the Kander and Ebb publishing. According to him Mr. Kander is very excited we're going ahead with And the World Goes Round and wants to chat this week about casting, just to throw some ideas into the ring.
BK, I really think you should publish a songbook. I hope that you consider it. :)
-
Songbook would be a LOT of work, but I have been thinking about it lately.
-
This would be fantastic.
Great idea, DR George. :)
-
Happy Birthday to the father of DR GEORGE.
Continued recording vibes for DR ELMORE.....that was QUICK!
Happy Birthday to the father of DR GEORGE.
Thanks, Jack!
Songbook would be a LOT of work, but I have been thinking about it lately.
COOL!! ;D
Last week, I gave my book, GHOUL CITY, a new, more appropriate cover.
Songbook would be a LOT of work, but I have been thinking about it lately.
Wish I was closer, I'd totally assist on this project!!!
-
Page four?
-
Get me off this damn page.
-
Did a three-mile jog and shall now see if I have any packages.
-
There's more drama here than a Eugene O'Neill play.
-
I say we move on to comedy.
-
People come and go so quickly here.
-
Hmmmm......
-
Like Grand Hotel. I've removed the dramatic posts - this stuff is being dealt with privately as it should be. :) We need merriment and mirth and laughter and legs, baby.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
But I won't.
-
Barbara, take off your panty hose.
-
Happy birthday to George's father.
-
Just back from a teeth cleaning. One tooth got something they called a fluoride varnishing. But other than that, all is OK.
-
Certainly I've taken off MY pantyhose so I'm not sure what Barbara's problem is.
-
Well, it got hot enough again for the AC, and that is what's sucking up my disposable dollar right now as we speak.
And I made a Great Caesar's Ghost salad using some cockamamie new dressing I happened upon at Stew Leonard's, along with the remains of some chopped garlic and parmesan. Yum.
-
Just back from a teeth cleaning. One tooth got something they called a fluoride varnishing. But other than that, all is OK.
I can't help but think that A Fluoride Varnishing is another Swedish bestseller.
And yet, on the other hand, maybe I can help but think that.
-
Good evening!
Judge Judy makes $47 million a year.
BK--I loved "Simply!" Can't wait for the CD!
Guess I can break the news here - I've arranged for Miss Shani Wallis to sign the first 100 copies of Twilight Time's Blu-ray release of Oliver. I'm going to do my best to make sure there are a few extra booklets for her to sign so that I can make sure that anyone here can get one.
-
Picked up no packages.
-
I'm starving and there will be no food until after eight o'clock. I had a low-cal ice cream bar earlier and I may have to have some cherries to tide me over for the next three damn hours.
-
How can we still be on page four? Oh, yeah, I removed the dramatic recitations that were happening.
-
Very nice OLIVER! news! Been looking forward to it, anyway, as I have never properly watched that film. Strange, but true!
-
5...
-
So, when Oliver is up for pre-order just let me know who would like a signed booklet and I'll try to make that happen for sure.
-
Cool! Do you know if it will be available from Screen Archives?
-
Yes, only through Screen Archives and I think TCM. But they would have no way of controlling who gets the signed copies, so I'm just going to ask Nick to bring ten extra things for her to sign.
-
I don't think I've seen "Oliver" all the way through, either.
-
Richard and I went out late this afternoon for me to do some errands and to get him out of the house for a while. He's not allowed to drive this week and he hadn't been anywhere but home and the hospital since last Monday. I did some shopping at Target and Kroger and we had dinner at a favorite gyro place. We hadn't seen the owner there for a while and he said he's been busy getting 2 new restaurants ready to open. They're both in our local mall, whose new owners are trying to bring it back from pitiful.
-
Facebook seems to be down, but HHW is not! Woo Hoo!!
-
Well, maybe not down, but slow
-
Here is a map of my bike ride today, if anyone cares to take a gander at it.
Now I'm off to the Heights for rehearsal
Yes, only through Screen Archives and I think TCM. But they would have no way of controlling who gets the signed copies, so I'm just going to ask Nick to bring ten extra things for her to sign.
Please add me to your list. :)
-
Anyone who wants to be on the signed Shani list should PM me here so I can keep track.
-
Yes, Facebook very wonky. Our board update here happened quietly yesterday and everything seems like its working as it should.
-
Lanny should be here in about forty-five minutes then we can go EAT!!!
-
Anyone who wants to be on the signed Shani list should PM me here so I can keep track.
Done!
-
Page five? Really?
-
I have no idea what to expect from this open mic night or how long it may run.
-
Well, I must leave. Off to rehearsal. I have had no time to look at my lines since last night. I'm not liking this being-very-busy-ness this week. :P is what I have to say.
Be back later!
-
Well, that leaves little ol' me.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Lanny should be here any minute and then we'll be on our way to the Gardenia and hopefully there will be a frenzy or three by the time I return.
-
So, when Oliver is up for pre-order just let me know who would like a signed booklet and I'll try to make that happen for sure.
DR Matthew, the bike trip looks/sounds great. If I lived in California again, I'd for sure be out riding a bike a lot of the time. I haven't had one in a number of years now, so I'm about to get one for this area. I miss it.
-
When I lived at the beach in Redondo, I loved nothing more than getting out on the path and walking or running (okay, maybe a little light jogging) or riding the bike up and down from Palos Verdes to Manhattan Beach and back. There is really nothing like getting the coastal air into and out of your lungs.
-
Well, here I go to watch the second half of 84 CHARING CROSS ROAD.
That will be just enough, since I'm not really up for watching anything particularly new and challenging tonight.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
I, for one, was at a Rosh Hashanah rehearsal. Oy! :P
-
Good for you, DR Matthew! :)
-
Good evening. Hope everyone is well.
Happy Bday to George's father
DR Druxy,
And by the way what was the Colonial's problem?
Back from dinner with a group of friends. It's Restaurant Week this week. About 50 restaurants, usually the places you can't afford to go to, offer three-course dinners for $35. And my website is one of the sponsors, so there's plenty of eating. (In addition to the barbecue trail.)
-
I worked from 7:30 Am - 7:30 PM and then went to a very long church council meeting
-
Tonight we went to a steakhouse where the steaks start at $50, so they tried to balance out their $35 offerings by including an excellent chicken breast, a humongous pork chop and salmon in addition to the one beef offering: a 4-ounce filet with two shrimp on the side.
When the plate came, I imagined some mistake had been made because the meat was so tiny. But 4-ounces is the recommended daily portion size. Then I took the first bite and felt like swooning. The flavor was sheer beef bliss. And, as it turned out, it was about the right size portion. It just seemed small because the first course was a massive wedge salad with about a half-pound of blue cheese dressing and the dessert was a monumental slab of warm chocolate cake with ganache drizzled all over the top.
-
Like Grand Hotel. I've removed the dramatic posts - this stuff is being dealt with privately as it should be. :) We need merriment and mirth and laughter and legs, baby.
And you apparently removed the Topic of the Day. as well
Thats' me I am very joyful when I sing ----no one with the power of hearing in my immediate vicinity is joyful - but I sure am
-
The Vixter has a lovely voice - Vixdad's whole family are sweet singers
anyhoo -- bedtime for this lousy singer
nighty night
-
Back from open mic night - never again.
-
Tonight, I got pissy with the choreographer - who's also my cousin-in-law. And I yelled at the cast "If one more person says 'on the soundtrack, it does...' I am personally going to throw something at you." Why not just sing to the damn CD? Anyway, the choreographer was cool with everything and she shared my "issue", so it's all fine. I hate to do that stuff, but I was SO tired of hearing that phrase about the "Soundtrack". I guess I could have said something like "IT'S A CAST RECORDING!!!! NOT A SOUNDTRACK" But why waste my energy on people who really wouldn't care anyway.
On that note, I'm going to watch some tv and enjoy some Ben and Jerry's.
-
Page seven? Really?
-
I LIKE page seven, actually.
I suppose I'm going to have to write some notes.
Lanny and I did have a good time, though. I had penne putanesca, which I think means penne whore nesca.
Do you Bumpit with a Trumpet?
;)
i remember seeing Oliver! in the movies when I was a sprig on a twig and being shocked and devastated by events befalling Nancy and Bill Sykes
Capital Playhouse did it last season and it was very good.
And speaking of Capital Playhouse (since I was), I got a letter last week saying that they are cancelling their 2013-2014 season. And that if anyone had already paid for tickets for the 2013-2014 season (which I did :( ), that would be applied to their 2014-2015 season. A lot of people I know think that this is the end of Capital Playhouse. I hope not. They've had some rough times recently, but they do good work. :-\
-
Tonight at rehearsal, we worked through act two, then we worked through act one, then we reworked through the beginning 10 pages or so of act two. It was a good rehearsal. Our playwright, Christian (friend of TCB's and mine) was there. I'm sure he gave notes to our director, but he didn't give any to us actors.
