My favorite nuts are probably cashews. I love them, especially when roasted and a little salty. I love them on pizza, too! I also really like (in no particular order): peanuts, pecans (especially as pecan pie), almonds, hazelnuts (especially in chocolate bars or Nutella), walnuts (especially in chocolate chip cookies), coconuts, and an honorary nut: sunflower seeds. :)

has passed away at 87. I listened to his show every Sunday when the BBC started streaming their programming. From what I can tell he was a much loved presenter and will be missed by the BBC and many others.

I like almonds, but I get bored with them. (In things like trail mixes, they're just "filler" for me.)

I grew up in a plain vanilla household where, for the most part, nuts meant peanuts. Always liked them and everything derived from them. I think we had walnuts in the occasional Waldorf Salad, and I didn't like those then. I kind of like them now, but they're not a favorite by any means. I thought pecans were kind of icky too, till the day I had my first pecan pie, and we can thank the Cheesecake Factory on Beverly Drive for that little epiphany.

At some point I discovered cashews, which immediately became my favorite of the non-peanut nuts. As I got introduced to those cans of "mixed nuts" I found I also really liked Brazil nuts and hazelnuts, which I started buying in the shell to crack open and eat in bulk. When I discovered pistachios, I also used to happily eat those in bulk. A bag of those would be a meal.

I don't remember how or where I first tasted Macadamias, but they've always been a real treat.

I was just going to post the same thing. The house sitter should have checked the mail. That is just common sense since it would be fairly common to have your neighbors mail.

I survived the long weekend, although there were moments I was ready to throw in the towel. Today I wait to hear from my doctor about a new prescription and the results of my MRI. Hopefully, my check from Philadelphia will also arrive in today's post.

Former DR MatHough, in his thank you note for my birthday card, sends his greetings to everyone.

The almonds are raw, so I roast them myself. Single layer on a cookie sheet, 375^o for 8 minutes. This took some experimentation. I like the unsalted cashews, but Richard does not.

I printed another prescription for you. The MRI results showed some worsening of a disc herniation at the T12-L1 level, with continued herniation (unchanged) at L4-5. I would advise you to do physical therapy and take the medicine as needed. If not improving, we can send you to a pain management specialist.

So, I'm off to pick up a prescription and ask her for a referral for physical therapy.

I left there with the prescription, walked down to Citibank, made a deposit, and took the bus home. I do not believe I'll be wandering around any more today.

I hear footsteps above me; I guess they are showing the apartment to possible tenants. I hope the next tenant is a better one than the last two!

Thanks, DRSlingshot! I'm happy there's no required surgery (catheter nightmares among others, dontcha know!) and I'm ready to try the therapy. The sooner the better!

That driver I had was fantastic today! I couldn't have maneuvered all of that walking - which would have been a breeze if I were in good shape. He was patient with my crippled state, my juggling a book and a cane, and i gave him a great big tip to show my appreciation. I wish all taxi drivers were as good as the ones I've been lucky to have since this affliction.

has passed away at 87. I listened to his show every Sunday when the BBC started streaming their programming. From what I can tell he was a much loved presenter and will be missed by the BBC and many others.

I really liked David Jacobs. He had an amazingly long career on BBC radio and television. I first noticed his name as far back as 1953 when he was one of the actors in the hugely popular radio serial JOURNEY INTO SPACE, which was followed by two sequels and which was recently reissued again on CD.

That is wonderful, DR Elmore. I recall like all the cab drivers that I had during my NYC trips...except the one Indian cab driver who stayed on his cell phone the entire time. I was wanting to chat with him.

Is the other place also less expensive? I find the Y a bit chilly in the winter and warm in the summer. I think there is air though, just set low. They do have fans for people to use but I hate them.

I don't know, am I blamed for Tomovoz's leaving? I never did anything to him other than be nice. Am I blamed for Jose's endless disappearances here - they have nothing to do with me, that I can tell you - I'm the one who's given him employment, treated him to many, many meals - I don't get it, I never will. But it is beginning to weigh heavy on me and I'm not liking this feeling AT ALL. And I'm sure our little insane stalker is reading this as I post it and clapping her hand in delight at what she's wrought over these many years. And to her I say - karma will take care of you, crazy lady.

One of the first jokes I ever learned was: I'm so paranoid that when I go to a football game and the players get in a huddle I think they're talking about me.

That driver I had was fantastic today! I couldn't have maneuvered all of that walking - which would have been a breeze if I were in good shape. He was patient with my crippled state, my juggling a book and a cane, and i gave him a great big tip to show my appreciation. I wish all taxi drivers were as good as the ones I've been lucky to have since this affliction.

This wasn't the same cab driver that M Barnum had? (so to speak)
