Anthony is on Long Island and I will be out there in a few hours. He's been painting the basement floor at his parent's house. Tonight we are seeing The Wizard of Oz in IMAX 3D.

The board seems to be back up. It was not working at about 5am this morning. I just got the Notes to post and the Discussion Board was extremely slow. Also Kritzerland would not load but it seems to be up now. I just read the post about Trinity Rep in Providence, RI.

Lots to do before I leave for the day.

Bye for now.

Good morning, all! The alarm rang at 7:30 and I went back to sleep for another hour. I then sat in a tub of hot water for about 30 minutes and I am all caught up on yesterday's posts.

DRs Jeanne and TCB, thank you for the birthday greetings. I hope I didn't miss anyone else yesterday.

BK, I hope your debit card tsuris is resolved ASAP

I slept fairly well. I realized this morning that, if I'm back to my old sleeping schedule, I have little to do once I've dressed and had breakfast. I really miss going to Toyland.

TOD:

DVD - The Drowsy Chaperone, closing night - I am very unhappy with this particular performance of mine, the audience was not as responsive as on previous nights, so I can tell I am rushing a bit....nice to have....but would have enjoyed a recording on a night the audience was WITH us.

CD- music for VANYA & SONIA & MASHA & SPIKE....I will take it to the director on Sunday....maybe he will use it for the rest of the run.

It is pouring rain here in Austin, which is good.  We certainly need it.

The bad news is that the rain is supposed to continue steady into mid-day tomorrow...and I have my writing class to teach in the morning.

Why is that a problem?

The place I'm teaching at is called The Writing Barn..and the dirt road approaching it and the dirt parking lot will probably be mud holes.

I'm up, I'm up - barely.  I fell asleep around four in the morning.  That was due to two irritants that happened just before twelve-thirty, when I was intending to go to bed.  Those irritants kept me up most of the night.  One of them was, of course, this here site.  I got an e-mail three days ago that last night our web host would be dealing with some e-mail issues due to moving to a new data center.  I asked them specifically if this had anything to do with us and was told it did not.  I think that was probably the hope, but the reality was that whatever they were doing with the e-mail stuff took up so much memory and space that all their sites became sluggish or wouldn't open at all.  I called their emergency line at two in the morning and the guy was actually there, dealing with it.  It certainly wasn't better by four, when I finally fell asleep.

Our allergies have been worse here, maybe due to the changing of the seasons.  I hope you are not sick and don't have to miss any PT appointments.

I'm showing signs of a subconjunctival hemorrhage in my right eye and I suspect too much screen time might not be a good idea, so I'm signing off.

'night!

My face isn't as red as my scanned version, and my crystal bowl is easier to see. :)

Some early Betty Grable-Judy Garland movie called Pigskin Parade came in at the library. It's supposedly set at a Texas college, but all of the students look like their 40+. And Patsy Kelly doesn't seem to be able to act straight. It doesn't help that her character's married to a fey Jack Haley.

Back from the Oz 3-D experience. It looks really good to me. The 3-D is not a patch on what can be done when the film is shot that way, but it was really wonderful .  I saw/noticed things I had never seen before.  The really remarkable effects were achieved on the art direction.  Great depth was achieved in several scenes. The opening sepia sequence is stunning.  It was like I was on the sound stage while they were filming.  It is totally worth your time to see it this way...IMO!

Apples and onions sauteed in a little butter with a little salt and brown sugar as a side dish.

Apple pie with plenty of toasted pecans in the mix.

Baked apples with butter and whipped cream.

A salad of apple diced with lemon juice, a little mint and chopped nuts.

YUM!!!  All good ideas.  I'm planning to sort them all tomorrow.  We had some really strong winds come up and the apples were so heavy on the limbs I decided I needed to pick them early to make sure the trees didn't break.  I did read the apples continue to ripen after picked if I don't refrigerate them, so I'll sort the ripe ones from the green ones as best I can and start cooking!

I'm also thinking of making some apple butter and canning it, but canning is such a pain.

So today Edith and I tackled the file room.   We hadn't really gotten things organized since I got the new file cabinets a month or two ago.  We had boxes everywhere, empty toner cartridges our old computers and just stuff.  It was sort of the "don't know where to put it, put it in the file room" kind of spot.   I've got the cartridges in my car, ready to take back to Staples, and I took the hard drive out of the old computers.  I'll keep the hard drives, at least for now, not sure if I'll turn them into external drives or just keep them, but now I can take the computers to the electronic recycle event next week.  I also have some misc equipment I'll take too.

Edith couldn't believe we got  a lot of shredding done (6 garbage bags)  all the files are organized and put away and all the misc. stuff is either gone or has a place to stay.   SO nice to have that done.

So glad he's home. At least you know he's safe.  Hopefully he will realize that soon and come out of hiding.

I watched some old TV shows tonight.  A few days ago, I decided on a whim to record a couple of episodes of "Maude" and "The Nanny" in one block of time.
Title: Re: THE NOTEWORTHY NOTES
Post by: George on September 20, 2013, 11:46:38 PM
I set the recording to go even longer, so an episode of "All In the Family" was also recorded.  That particular episode happened to be the one that introduced Edith's cousin Maude, her fourth husband Walter and her daughter by her second husband, Carol (Maude's daughter, not Maude's second husband).
Title: Re: THE NOTEWORTHY NOTES
Post by: George on September 20, 2013, 11:46:50 PM
In that episode, Carol was played by Marcia Rodd.  Evidently, when the show "Maude" became its own series, she didn't want to do it and the role was taken over by Adrienne Barbeau.
