TCB: On the "Wholesale" recording, you can hear Barbra Streisand in the opening song, "I'm Not a Well Man" and to great effect in the album closer, "What Are They Doing to Us Now?"

"Letter to Three Wives" is a great movie-- I got it from Netflix not too long ago and thoroughly enjoyed it all over again (after not seeing it for many years).  There was a TV remake in the 70's (narrated by Dolores Gray who was also perfection as the voice) that also worked pretty well as I recall.

Good morning, all! It was not a good night in the least. New pains in my left leg and foot kept me awake most of the night. I did doze for a bit because I had  strange dream involving following a stranger suspected of theft carrying a shopping bag of books in downtown Middletown, OH, who suddenly vanished as though he'd fallen into a rabbit hole, then being in a department store with a bunch of friends where I was eating raspberry turnovers one of them had baked for me.

Around 5:00am, I took another flexerill, then lay awake until around 7:30, when my alarm went off, and then slept until 9:30. I sat in a bathtub of really hot water for 30 minutes and now I'm dressed. I have to walk to my bank this morning, and that's an exercise I do not look forward to at all.

DR TCB, I wasn't so much worried about the codeine as I was about all the Tylenol's affecting my liver.

I've made my trek to and from the bank. My feet are not happy lifting heavy shoes, and the steps are the worst part of the ordeal since my left foot cannot bear the pressure. Still, I got there, got some necessary cash, and made it back in one piece. It took me about eight minutes to make the trip.

In another interesting note, the New York Times reported that actor Howard McGillin married his partner Richard Samson.

I'm up after nine hours of sleep - wanted a bit more but when one is up one is up.  The new bed is VERY comfy, with good support but also good comfort.  I kept waking up during the evening between dreams thinking, "this is a good bed."  The height didn't bother me at all.

Started watching "On the Road." I'd read the book twice and respect it more than like it. Movie makes the worst Hollywood mistake you could with the book. It robs the Kerouac character of his bisexuality and seems very condescending toward the Ginsberg character because of his obsessioon with the Neal Cassidy character. In other words, it's simply the story of a horny all-American boy who wants to be a writer. He might as well be John-Boy Walton.

The first part of each Kritzer book is all life anecdotes about Benjamin's life and world. The second half introduces the actual story of eac book - I.e. Susan in book one, and the friend in book two. If you're in chapter two of part two then you've already met the character who forms the story of book three

I went to Target today for the first time. The first ones just opened in Canada.  There is going to be one near me but it hasn't opened yet.  I am not crazy about the location for the one i went to today. I did not like it when it was a Zellers or The Bay.  They are also building a new Walmart across from that Target.

I didn't love this Target. But might be partly due to the location.

WHERE IN TARNATION IS EVERYONE? ???

I'm back from seeing "The Wizard of Oz" in 3D!  I and my co-worker Jamie really enjoyed it!  I don't remember if I'd ever seen the whole thing in one sitting.  It looked beautiful on the really big IMAX screen.  The 3D was subtle and well done.  I was amazed at the detail.  In a lot of the crowd scenes, I found myself looking at the people in the background.  You could see facial expressions (and even faces!) of the people way in the back.  It looked as if it had just been filmed.  I loved it!  I bought the 70th anniversary DVD in 2009.  I just pulled it off my shelf.  When I've finished with the 4th episode of "Broadchurch" that I'm watching now, I'll check it to see how detailed it is.  Granted, it's a DVD and not a Blu-ray, but it should still be pretty good. :D

There's a football game on CBS right now, and the Emmys are supposed to be on right after it.  There is about a minute left on the timer, which means it could be another half hour before the actual game ends. :P

KFC has been advertising the heck out of their 6 piece meal for $9.99, so i decided it had been a long time, so what the Hell.  The chicken was just as I remembered - moist, tasty, and greasy.  Very very very (that is 3 verys) good.  And the biscuits were pretty good.  But the mashed potatoes were horrible.  The worst ever!!

DR Jennifer there is a reason Lisa Gardner wrote books under a different name-lol.  Did you purchase "Maggie's Man" or are you waiting for the library book?  It was worth what I paid for it but if you can get it free do so.

No i didn't get it. I was going to wait for the library.

Is it really that much different than her current style? Maybe she just got to be a better writer. I know she wrote these before she started writing under her real name.

In NON-Emmy news, I read today that Clint Eastwood is directing Liza Minnelli as Norma Desmond in the movie version of ALW's musical version of Sunset Boulevard.

No, completely made up - this is the new thing - some website will post anything they want and everyone picks it up and passes it on - it's completely as bogus as you'd think it is.  Liza's people have already said there is not one shred of truth and the producers, Meron and Zadan have never had anything to do with Sunset Blvd.
