Well, you've read the notes, the notes were big, and now it is time for you to post until the big cows come home.

And the word of the day is: TERGIVERSATION!

~ ~ ~ EXCELLENT VIBES AND XYLOPHONES THAT ALL GOOD THINGS HAPPEN, AND THAT ANY POTENTIAL IRRITATING THINGS GET FLUSHED DOWN THE TOILET WHERE THEY BELONG ~ ~ ~

Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all.
I can't wait till later when we find out if BK detected the pea strategically placed by the delivery people.....
-
Good morning, all.
Peaceful day vibes for all.
-
TCB: On the "Wholesale" recording, you can hear Barbra Streisand in the opening song, "I'm Not a Well Man" and to great effect in the album closer, "What Are They Doing to Us Now?"
-
"Letter to Three Wives" is a great movie-- I got it from Netflix not too long ago and thoroughly enjoyed it all over again (after not seeing it for many years). There was a TV remake in the 70's (narrated by Dolores Gray who was also perfection as the voice) that also worked pretty well as I recall.
-
I've never seen "Letter to Three Wives", so I shall look forward to it.
-
Good morning.
-
Hope it's a good day for all.
-
IS anyone else looking forward to watching the Emmys and the Emmys Red Carpet?
-
Good morning, all! It was not a good night in the least. New pains in my left leg and foot kept me awake most of the night. I did doze for a bit because I had strange dream involving following a stranger suspected of theft carrying a shopping bag of books in downtown Middletown, OH, who suddenly vanished as though he'd fallen into a rabbit hole, then being in a department store with a bunch of friends where I was eating raspberry turnovers one of them had baked for me.
Around 5:00am, I took another flexerill, then lay awake until around 7:30, when my alarm went off, and then slept until 9:30. I sat in a bathtub of really hot water for 30 minutes and now I'm dressed. I have to walk to my bank this morning, and that's an exercise I do not look forward to at all.
DR TCB, I wasn't so much worried about the codeine as I was about all the Tylenol's affecting my liver.
-
Good morning to all
-
Belated birthday greetings to DR Laura
-
i will tape and not watch the Emmys until later. Fast forward through the "boring" stuff and the adverts.
-

We're on "Hollywood Gown" watch as we speak (even though it's only 8 a.m.) - special Emmy chanting vocal for tomorrow's edition :)

Since they unconverted The Wizard of Oz to 3D what other movie musical do you think they will needlessly do to it next?
The Sound of Music or West Side Story would be my guess.
-
"Hair in 3 Dimensions" with the Fifth Dimension, maybe?
-
I will catch up when I return from my viewing of VANYA & SONYA & MASHA & SPIKE....
-
I've made my trek to and from the bank. My feet are not happy lifting heavy shoes, and the steps are the worst part of the ordeal since my left foot cannot bear the pressure. Still, I got there, got some necessary cash, and made it back in one piece. It took me about eight minutes to make the trip.
In another interesting note, the New York Times reported that actor Howard McGillin married his partner Richard Samson.
-
Sorry to hear that, DR elmore3003 - it has been a long road for you.
-
I can't wait till later when we find out if BK detected the pea strategically placed by the delivery people.....

Little known fact: Howard and Richard actually met at a reading of one of Skip's shows.
-
I'm up after nine hours of sleep - wanted a bit more but when one is up one is up. The new bed is VERY comfy, with good support but also good comfort. I kept waking up during the evening between dreams thinking, "this is a good bed." The height didn't bother me at all.
-
Page one? Really?
-
We're almost to Page 2!
-
I believe!
-
This is it?
-
!! Bingo !!
-
Hello DR Elmore,
I hope each day you will feel better and better. Take it easy and don't over due it please!
-
TOD:
Dr BK,
Today, I was listening to Guy Haines, HAINES HIS WAY.
I am really enjoying it, especially FALLIN'.I love that song!
-
Two more pages, and then I'll be on Chapter II, Part II of Kritzer Time.
I love the book, and will hate to see it end'
DR BK,
You just have to write one more book about Benjamin Kritzer"" PLEASE, I just love that young man"
-
AND THE QUOTE OF THE DAY IS:
"You're just a prayer away from a change of heart".
DR HENRY BRANDT
-
The Lady Vanishes is on TCM"
I love it, but my hubby will probably want to watch football.
-
WHERE IN TARNATION IS EVERYONE????
-
I'm here, but have nothing to say.
-
TERGIVERSATION
Evasion of a straight forward action or clear-cut statement.
Just like Benjamin Kritzer, I love words too!
-
I guess that's a post, though, even if I said I had nothing to say. :)
-
The Bills are playing against the NY Jets today. I so hope they win!
-
And the word of the day is: TERGIVERSATION!
And The Song Of The Day Is: SAME OLD SONG AND DANCE
-
DRs Elmore and FJL, Will you be watching the Emmys tonight?
-
I enjoy the Emmys, especially , seeing all the wonderful clothes.
-

I love the book, and will hate to see it end'
DR BK,
You just have to write one more book about Benjamin Kritzer"" PLEASE, I just love that young man"
As in all the Kritzer books, part two begins the actual story of Kritzer Time.
-
I also liked the movies "A Letter to three Wives".
-
Belated Birthday Greetings to DR Laura!!
-
Started watching "On the Road." I'd read the book twice and respect it more than like it. Movie makes the worst Hollywood mistake you could with the book. It robs the Kerouac character of his bisexuality and seems very condescending toward the Ginsberg character because of his obsessioon with the Neal Cassidy character. In other words, it's simply the story of a horny all-American boy who wants to be a writer. He might as well be John-Boy Walton.
-
BK, I don't understand what you mean about the Kritzerland books, please explain!
-
BK, I don't understand what you mean about the Kritzerland books, please explain!
The first part of each Kritzer book is all life anecdotes about Benjamin's life and world. The second half introduces the actual story of eac book - I.e. Susan in book one, and the friend in book two. If you're in chapter two of part two then you've already met the character who forms the story of book three
-
I believe!
And somewhere, an angel is getting her wings!
-
Or something like that.
-
I do not think I will be watching the Emmys. I don't care enough about the current crop of programs. I'll probably watch something until 9:00 or so, and then read for an hour. I hope I can get some sleep tonight.
-
I am looking forward to the Emmys and the Red Carpet. I'm not sure what time I will start watching it. Unfortunately I won't be able to post during the show from my kindle as I still cannot get HHW to load at all.
Can anyone else get HHW to load on their nooks or kindles in the last few days?
-
I went to Target today for the first time. The first ones just opened in Canada. There is going to be one near me but it hasn't opened yet. I am not crazy about the location for the one i went to today. I did not like it when it was a Zellers or The Bay. They are also building a new Walmart across from that Target.
I didn't love this Target. But might be partly due to the location.
-
Ok, BK, now I understand. Thanks for explaining.
-
Yes, DR Jennifer, After we watch the Emmys, maybe we can compare notes!
As far as Target, I think its great for certain items, but I am not a big fan of their clothes!
-
Since they unconverted The Wizard of Oz to 3D what other movie musical do you think they will needlessly do to it next?
The Sound of Music or West Side Story would be my guess.
Gone with the Wind
-
I loved shopping at the Zellers whenever I visited my in-laws in Canada - I am very sorry that it is no more
-
It is a beautiful day out
it is much too nice to be in the house so byeeeeeeeeee
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! Richard and I left here about the time we're usually arriving in Lima and attended our former church in Cincinnati today. We had lunch with the organist and vicar and are now home for the evening.
-
It is a bee-yoo-tee-ful first day of fall here in SW Ohio!
-
I'm up after nine hours of sleep - wanted a bit more but when one is up one is up. The new bed is VERY comfy, with good support but also good comfort. I kept waking up during the evening between dreams thinking, "this is a good bed." The height didn't bother me at all.
Now I want a new mattress :)
The bed in our guestroom is too high and most of the mattresses I liked when we looked for our room was high. I like our low bed, it is just my size.
-
DR Jennifer there is a reason Lisa Gardner wrote books under a different name-lol. Did you purchase "Maggie's Man" or are you waiting for the library book? It was worth what I paid for it but if you can get it free do so.
-
Are we not having a Emmy Award Party?
-
And I was thrilled and elated to see that the replacement credit card had arrived – that was the best news and I came right home, activated it, and then went to the six autopay sites and updated the information so everything should now go through fine.
I read the last part of the sentence as you went to the "six autopsy sites"
-
I've had my first Chinese food in over a month and it was fantastic! I'm ready to settle in for the evening, take my meds, and hopefully get some sleep tonight.
-
IS anyone else looking forward to watching the Emmys and the Emmys Red Carpet?
We're on "Hollywood Gown" watch as we speak (even though it's only 8 a.m.) - special Emmy chanting vocal for tomorrow's edition :)

Very nice, Fred.
-
Thanks, DR Ginny - I had forgotten about the official change of seasons yesterday/today.
-
Today was a pro sports "perfect storm" in Ohio - wins for Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians (baseball) and Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns (football).
-
Hello!
-
A beautiful day in the metro DC area too!
-
Are we not having a Emmy Award Party?
I'll watch for the first 90 minutes or so!
-
Loved Celeste Holm's narration in A Letter to Three Wives!
-
More health vibes for DR elmore!
-

Great win for the Bengals, Ginny!
-
Back from a three-mile jog. And have finished two-thirds of the commentary.
-
IS anyone else looking forward to watching the Emmys and the Emmys Red Carpet?
I'll be watching (and recording) the Emmys, but not the red carpet pre-show(s).
-
WHERE IN TARNATION IS EVERYONE? ???
I'm back from seeing "The Wizard of Oz" in 3D! I and my co-worker Jamie really enjoyed it! I don't remember if I'd ever seen the whole thing in one sitting. It looked beautiful on the really big IMAX screen. The 3D was subtle and well done. I was amazed at the detail. In a lot of the crowd scenes, I found myself looking at the people in the background. You could see facial expressions (and even faces!) of the people way in the back. It looked as if it had just been filmed. I loved it! I bought the 70th anniversary DVD in 2009. I just pulled it off my shelf. When I've finished with the 4th episode of "Broadchurch" that I'm watching now, I'll check it to see how detailed it is. Granted, it's a DVD and not a Blu-ray, but it should still be pretty good. :D
-
I'm not watching the Emmy's. I should look and see who was nominated-lol
-
Hello, everyone.
More belated birthday wishes to DR Laura. I hope you had a great day!
-
The Seattle Seahawks have beaten the Jacksonville Jaguers 45 to 17.
-
And the word of the day is: TERGIVERSATION!
Isn't that what Indian givers do?
-
Continued health and healing vibes to Larry!! I hope you feel much better very soon.
-
I, too, enjoyed A LETTER TO THREE WIVES.

I've heard your parody of HOLLYWOOD GOWN before, Fred, but I think I like this one even better.
-

TCB, you do the most wonderful misreadings!
-
There's a football game on CBS right now, and the Emmys are supposed to be on right after it. There is about a minute left on the timer, which means it could be another half hour before the actual game ends. :P
Of course, that's an exaggeration, but probably not by much.
-
It is a lovely day here, as well. I had a big meal and am now ready for a nap.
-
There are two actresses I would very much like to see win their categories....
Carrie Preston for The Good Wife
and
Mayim Bialik for The Big Bang Theory
-
The game has ended!
-
The Seattle Seahawks have beaten the Jacksonville Jaguers 45 to 17.
NBC Sports just called the Seahawks the best team in football!!

Is this how it's usually done?
-
It's POURING down rain right now!

Didn't care for the opening of the Emmys at all.

Good. Thanks for letting me know.
I kind of understand why a guest actress award would be early but not for a regular supporting actor on a show.

Here's what it looks like outside the back of my place:

Yesterday afternoon and evening it looked like that here. Today we were able to take a nice walk. We were surprised, and somewhat sad, to see part of a big old black oak had fallen of the tree.
-
KFC has been advertising the heck out of their 6 piece meal for $9.99, so i decided it had been a long time, so what the Hell. The chicken was just as I remembered - moist, tasty, and greasy. Very very very (that is 3 verys) good. And the biscuits were pretty good. But the mashed potatoes were horrible. The worst ever!!
-
Never heard of the winner for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy: Merritt Wever.
-
I don't watch "Nurse Jackie," so I've only heard of Merritt Wever from her recurring character on "New Girl." Is this an upset??
-
The Emmys are on live on the West Coast, right?
-
The Emmys are on live on the West Coast, right?
Yup...they're happening right NOW!
-
Never heard of the winner for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy: Merritt Wever.
I can't compare if I agree with this, however, I think Mayim Bialik is brilliant on Big Bang.

I think the whole cast of BIG BANG THEORY is brilliant.
-
Julia Louis-Dreyfus! Tony Hale, also in VEEP, just won for supporting actor!
-
That was funny!
-
Julia has had 16 nominations!
-
In NON-Emmy news, I read today that Clint Eastwood is directing Liza Minnelli as Norma Desmond in the movie version of ALW's musical version of Sunset Boulevard.
-
Jim Parsons...again!
-
I think I'll have to start watching The Big Bang Theory. I've seen it a couple of times and didn't really know much about the characters.

Clint is directing "The Jersey Boys" right now. If that doesn't do well, I wonder if that'll change the "SB" situation.
-
It is hard to believe that Bob Newhart never won an Emmy for either series in which he starred.
-

-
You're right, DR George - I should have said will be (in 2014). But you're probably also right about your other point.
-
So, what's the point of this Elton John song??

Claire Danes won best lead actress in a drama for "Homeland."

I ate way too much today and didn't walk far enough to burn off many calories. Oh well, I'll be good tomorrow.

Bob Newhart just got a very deserved standing O!

DR George thank you for your narration.

Jeff Daniels for "Newsroom" for best lead actor in a drama series!
That's about the only show I've seen
-
"The Colbert Report" just won, but I didn't see what for. Sorry.
-
I'm glad Jeff Daniels won. I've heard that there will be another season of "The Newsroom" but the reports sound iffy. Maybe this will help

Just had a slice of what I think is the first apple pie I've ever made from scratch. It was good!
-
Outstanding Variety Series is "The Colbert Report"!
I think that this is the first time in a LONG time that "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" didn't win!
-
Who is this pimp in the Green Room?
-
I've never watched Colbert, and think I've only seen Jon Stewart a couple times

Who is this pimp in the Green Room?
I was wondering the same thing

Thanks! I don't usually do pie because I'd have to eat it all. Edith doesn't like sweets, so, taking it to work hasn't been an option. But what the heck. I'm planning to get some prepared and freeze them, then I can take them to gatherings etc.

No i didn't get it. I was going to wait for the library.
Is it really that much different than her current style? Maybe she just got to be a better writer. I know she wrote these before she started writing under her real name.
-
One complaint I have about the Emmys is that I wish there were awards for shows that aren't on HBO, Showtime...
-
I also don't care for the fact that they saved best mini-series/tv movie and best actor mini -series/movie till the end. I mean they knew who would win. I guess they wanted some movie stars at the end.
-
Thanks, George, for the running commentary. I finished my bad movie, I finished my story for tomorrow and now I'm off to bed.
Good night, all.
-
One complaint I have about the Emmys is that I wish there were awards for shows that aren't on HBO, Showtime...
There used to be an awards show like that...it was called The Emmy Awards.
;)
-
Thank you for the belated birthday greetings.
-
Good evening.
I was so glad my DH woke me up this morning, because I was having a bad dream about the printer not working. Why in the heck does that printer invade my dreams???

Yes, it's a typical LA review.
-
Who didn't know that Behind the Candelabra would sweep its categories.
-
Back from The Federal - the singer has a very nice voice and no idea how to present himself in cabaret - tricky and not for the faint of heart.
-
I had the pasta I'd been wanting to try - as it turns out it's an alfredo pasta but I'd seen people having it and it looked nothing like a cream fest, and additionally I told them to go extremely light, which they did. It was really good.
-
In NON-Emmy news, I read today that Clint Eastwood is directing Liza Minnelli as Norma Desmond in the movie version of ALW's musical version of Sunset Boulevard.
No, completely made up - this is the new thing - some website will post anything they want and everyone picks it up and passes it on - it's completely as bogus as you'd think it is. Liza's people have already said there is not one shred of truth and the producers, Meron and Zadan have never had anything to do with Sunset Blvd.
-
I think I'll post in these here notes this exclusive bit of tid: Barbra Streisand has just confirmed that she's set to star in a new film version of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf - directed by Jodie Foster and also starring Brad Pitt as George. Miss Streisand will sing the title song. Pass it around.
-
Am I the only one who wanted to see Liza Minnelli as Norma Desmond?
-
Am I the only one who wanted to see Liza Minnelli as Norma Desmond?
I thought that it might be an interesting project.

PAGE SEVEN EMMY AWARD DANCE!
-
As much as I dislike Liza Minnelli she is way way too old to play the role. She is almost 70 years old. Gloria Swanson was only 50.
-
I fast forwarded through much of the Emmy awards but I liked Ellen Burstyn's reference to a previous nomination when she was only on screen for about 11 seconds and had two lines. (Mrs. Harris)
-
I don't know from the EMMY awards.
-
But I did just finish writing the commentary. I felt I had to include some entries from David Shire's Coprophiliac joke book, to which I, of course, contributed. :)
-
One complaint I have about the Emmys is that I wish there were awards for shows that aren't on HBO, Showtime...
Now they have amended the rules again, to also include shows produced for Netflix and other non-broadcast programs. That is how Jason Batemen received a nomination for the last season of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT.
-

I thought Streisand owned the film rights?
-
Am I the only one who wanted to see Liza Minnelli as Norma Desmond?
Not I!
