Well, you've read the notes, the notes got a charge from a cover, and now it is time for you to post until the charged cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FERMATA!
-
Love the song, BK! That really is a great arrangement and Sandy sound wonderful. Can't wait for the CD!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Sandy's new album cover is really great!
-
I can't play the audio clip on my new computer - I just went and checked; it won't play any of the previously posted clips, either. My old computer handled them flawlessly. I suppose I need to download some add-in software or other.
-
good morning to all
-
i had a long day at work yesterday and a long one today as well
-
Listening to the Stephen Schwartz on AccuRadio.
BK's Stephen Schwartz Album comes up a lot
There is some terrible kids musical he wrote and the overdone new recording of Godspell. I prefer the Stephen Nathan cast recording.
-
Was able to listen to Sandy's track on my work PC. Love the approach!
-
Lovely orchestration too!
-
Hello, Tuesday!
-
Love the Sandy cover and sample song.....I think it's a hit!!!
-
Will it be released it time for the Christmas trade?
-
And the word of the day is: FERMATA!
And The Song Of The Day Is: STOP TIME
-
Good morning, all! Yep, my body ached all night, and I believe it was more from the furniture move than the therapy yesterday. On the positive side, my apartment is back in its more livable shape, and on the negative side, everything aches!
Tomorrow, the new mattress will be delivered, so I am going to wash a set of sheets this morning, take a bus to the bank, take a bus back and wait for the laundry to dry.
I like Sandy's cover very much and lok forward to the CD.
-
This morning I am watching TIGHT SPOT with Miss Ginger Rogers doing her best as a moll who is sprung from jail complete with chewing gum and snappy retorts. The problem is the movie was made in 1955, and Ginger is pretending to be in her twenties....
-
BK - Glad to hear you had such a nice lunch with Harriet. One of my all-time favorite people.
I recall that lovely dinner in L.A. with you, Harriet and Joe Kolinski last May.
-
Or was it more like a late lunch we all had that day? (I'd seen "Los Otros" matinee with you, got to meet Michele Pawk with you, and then afterwards went with Harriet to see "Follies")
-
Tuesday morning greetings! I've been downtown already for a meeting about the AAUW scholarships that our community foundation helps us administer. Back home now to putter in my office until it's time to visit Mom on my way to my Tuesday evening class.

FERMATA
A prolongation at the discretion of the performer of a musical note, chord,or rest beyond its given time value.
I love learning new words everyday.
Thanks BK for the WORD OF THE DAY!
-
Sandy has a wonderful voice and that's an excellent rendition of "Where and When".
-
Good morning.
Glad to see everyone is alive and well. What more can we wish for?
-
QUOTE OF THE DAY:
"Every child that isn't born, but is unjustly condemned to be aborted, has the face of Jesus Christ, has the face of the Lord".
POPE FRANCIS,
9/20/13
-
BK,
I know that HATARI is a popular movie and I usually like John Wayne pictures, but I find this film to be a total bore. I saw it years ago, and had to force myself to sit through it to the end.
I also know it's Howard Hawks, but this comes from his "slower than molasses" period when he was more interested in making "good scenes" than telling a story.
-
TOD:
I like animal movies in which no animals are killed or injured.
-
TOD:
Lassie Come Home (and sequels)
National Velvet
My Friend Flicka
Lady and the Tramp
Bambi
Dumbo
Big Red
Old Yeller
Greyfriar's Bobby
Francis (the talking mule) and sequels
The Shaggy Dog

Do any DR"S know of any reliable sites online for earning money?

Doesn't a dog figure prominently in As Good As It Gets? It's been so long since I've seen it.
-
Do any DR"S know of any reliable sites online for earning money?
Sorry; I do not. And I'd be pretty skeptical about any sites that make that claim.
-
I wish bk would tell the one about the Randy Vicar and the Dance Belt.
-
Successful outing accomplished. I just have to take my time and rest during the activity.
I got to the Laundromat and read while the sheets washed. I put them into the dryer, walked to the uptown 104 bus stop, sat there and read until the bus showed up, rode it four blocks to the bank, and there my left leg decided it had had enough. I managed to cross to the middle of Broadway where I sat on a park bench until the light changed, then got to the downtown 104 bus stop. Once I got back to 82nd Street, I sat on a bench in the middle of Broadway, between the uptown and downtown lanes, and read for a while. Then, I was back to the laundromat to wait till the laundry had dried, and I am home.
Unfortunately, this won't work if it's something that needs to be accomplished quickly. I have no idea how I'll cope with that!

Until such time as you are recovered, anything needing to be done quickly will simply have to WAIT! It's amazing what we can manage to do when we are disabled in some way. For the time being, Larry, YOU must control time instead of allowing time to control you.

I'm up after a nice night's beauty sleep on the new bed.

Sandy's album should be available mid-October.

The wonderful character actress
Jane Connell (http://www.theatermania.com/new-york-city-theater/news/09-2013/mame-star-jane-connell-dies-at-87_66109.html)
probably best know as Agnes Gooch in the musical version of Mame died yesterday.

I have a memory that I worked with Ms Connell on at least one of the New Amsterdam Theatre Co. musicals in concert in the early 1980s. She was very kind. She also played the Quaker aunt in Kern's OH, BOY! at Carnegie Recital Hall. She was quite a funny lady.
-
Re: WHERE OR WHEN
simply Breathtaking!
Agree with this, really well-done
-
Well, I did some digging. Jane Connell did not do any New Amsterdam Theatre Co, shows; she played Pauline the maid in John McGlinn's concert of the original score for NO NO NANETTE. Very funny!
-
I am having a ball reading Carleton Carpenter's The Peabody Experience, a mystery set (much like bk's Writer's Block) during the creation (or, in this case, re-creation) of a musical. It's very funny, and set in the fictional Peabody Opera House, which stands in for East Haddam Connecticut's Goodspeed Opera House. The character Peter Goode stands in for the real life Michael Price (successful, but also apparently a real piece of work). He is said to have told his staff that anyone caught reading the novel would be fired on the spot.
-
Today is National. Punctuation? Day! :)
-
Thank you DR TCB my ankle is greatly improved.

I'm glad we went to Costco yesterday when it was lovely out and not today.

Thanks for the kind advice DR"S Singdaw and Jr&63 regarding web sites.
-
Got up a little after ten, then had to deal with a long telephonic conversation regarding the benefit I'm directing - then that went so long that I had to run to lunch. After that, I picked up a package and now I'm home. I'll finish Sandy's patter now and then do a jog.
-
DR Singdaw, Yes a dog did play a prominent role in "As Good As it Gets".
Another movie I love.
-
I wish I could hear Sandy B's new song.
-
Thanks DR Kate.

Where did you get your copy? Did you find it on line? I've seen it at online book sites but the price is too high. The NY Public Library doesn't have a copy so I'm having trouble finding it. I assume you're reading it because of the mention on CastRecL

Well, I'm almost on Chapter VI of KRITZER TIME.
I will probably finish it tonight!
Then I will start a new book. I don't know what just yet.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Did you read "Album Produced By"?
-
Yes, DR Ben - I bought a used copy online for an exorbitant price. Well, it was still under $40. But I thought that was exorbitant for an old, used, out-of-print book.
-
Kate, if you like mysteries - try the other Hofstetter books or even Writer's Block. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about Kritzer Time when you finish it.

Finished Sandy's patter and have e-mailed it to her. Her packaging has gone off to the printers.

FYI...the HHW Photobucket account that I created is 24% filled! There are a lot of recently added pictures that have nothing to do with HHW. It's a free account, so there's no problem in that respect. When it fills up, I'll just create another HHW account and we can use that, but if you (whoever you are) have that many pictures to upload, you can easily create your own free Photobucket account. I also wonder if it's been hacked and some random person is just adding his or her photos to our account because he/she can. As long as our photos aren't deleted, it's okay.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
But I won't.
-
Trying my hardest to work up the energy to do a jog. I don't really have to leave until about seven-fifteen tonight, so it can really be anytime.
-
I had a patty melt for lunch.

Oy! The mattress delivery is set for 7:45 and 9:45am. I hope I'm not on the early side.

Very tired today and don't know why.

But first, some dinner.

Maybe you will feel less tired after you eat.

Hello, everyone.
Very nice album cover. I enjoyed WHERE OR WHEN and look forward to hearing the whole CD.
-
Jane, I hadn't realized you've been having ankle problems, too. Vibes it's better soon. I really like my Incrediwear braces. I still wear the ankle one.

Jane, is that you at the wheel?
-
BECAUSE OF WINN DIXIE is a sweet film. One of my favorites is STATION JIM, a British film about a dog. The DVD cover alone will make you want to see it--if you're an animal lover, that is.
-
Larry, I empathize. And agree with Ron that YOU must come first. But it is sooo difficult! My friend Jan, who has always had great health and abundant energy, is now having health issues. I tried to explain to her recently how I have to break things down into doable units, then rest. She, of course, didn't want to hear it. I can't blame her. It's so much nicer to forget your health and just do what you want!
Between the new mattress and the PT I hope you're soon feeling much better, Larry.

There will be heaps o' barbecue in the future. Actually, barbacoa, which is South Texas style of cooking the head. If you saw "Giant," they made a big deal of that in the movie.

Watched "What Maisie Knew" earlier today and am still experiencing something of a downer from it. It's faithful to the spirit of Henry James' original story only set today when children to some are accessories. Watching the hurt in the little girl's face was heartbreaking.
So, to cleanse my palate, I'm watching Three Smart Girls with Deanna Durbin. It might be too violent a swing and I end up with a sugar overdose.

The Incredible Journey

I'm watching Latino Americans on PBS. Wonderful show

Jane, I hadn't realized you've been having ankle problems, too. Vibes it's better soon. I really like my Incrediwear braces. I still wear the ankle one.
Thank you.
I'm glad the braces are working for you. I smashed my ankle very hard yesterday on a metal strip. I'm lucky I didn't hit my ankle bone or it would have broken. Since I missed the bone the ankle was just very tender and is quickly recovering.
-
Good morning, all.
No. That's not right. But I think you can "catch my drift".
-
Song sounds wonderful!
-
Did somebody say Smoke House?
-
Did somebody say barbecue?
-
Well this is pretty cool...today, I went to a local burger joint for lunch and in a rare move, I paid with cash. I got the burger for free because they have points cards and I had enough for a free burger. I paid for the drink and tater-tots. Anyway, I got some change, a couple of dollars and 18¢ and I just looked at the coins. One is a 1919 wheat-back cent! Pretty cool, huh?
-
It could be worth as much as 5¢!
Because of the very circulated condition, that's not very likely, of course. ;)

That's horrible. How is she feeling about it?
-
Well, I have a little more packing to do. Think I'll call it a night.
Good night, all.
-
She was pretty upset - she called me and I was in a church council meeting so I nearly didn't answer but it occurred to me that she KNEW I was in the meeting and if she called me she needed me. I am so glad we have cell phoens - thia is what they are needed for
-
I left the meeting with the blessings (literally) of the Pastor and met her at the car - I called the police from the lot and Vixdad on his cell so he came there right from the train station.
Some of her co workers had waited with her until I got there - the the manager of the Roadhouse came over and asked what she lost - we told him about all the art supplies for college and he said if she had the receipt that the restaurant would pay for replacements! I actually had the receipt in my purse as we just bought the supplies Sunday so she handed it over an he gave her the money to replace the supplies
Then after the police report was filed he brought out the restaurant's shop vac and vaccumed out all the glass for her
-
then I went over to Home Depot to get some plastic to cover the window and they were just getting ready to close - I told the manager what I needed and why and he walked me to the aisle and then have me the plastic and said it was on the house
-
Just before Vixter went to bed she said "you know it's going to sound kind of funny but I feel like I am very lucky -everybody was so nice and I feel so loved and supported"
-
So I think that's the attitude Iam going to run with -
