Well, you've read the notes, the notes had waste, haste, and taste, and now it is time for you to post until the wasted cows come home.

I must flit, I must fly, I must pack...

Today I fly to Minneapolis, where I will see my DH and sing for a family wedding tomorrow night. Flying back on Monday. I shall be E&T from this here board, for the most part, for the next few days, but catch up I shall.
Feeling somewhat under the weather, so I hope for my seatmates' sake that I don't unexpectedly vomit on the ground, as I did last night.

And yes, DR Ginny, that will be me waving as I pass over Ohio!      :)

Good morning, all! I was up too late putting together a list for my friend Diana Montague - my Aunt Minnie on ROBERTA - and emailing it, so I slept in this morning.

I have to do some limited tidying up today, like vacuum and pick up the objects that I can actually put away with no difficulty; tomorrow our DT Ben and Anthony are coming to visit.

Last night I had a most loverly phone conversation about a possible gig next spring. It's very tempting and I'm pondering it seriously.  We'll see.

BK, November 15 is just about 4 weeks away! This revue sounds great. Do you have an MD? Will there be a band? When do you cast? It sounds like the perfect show for Lanny! I'd love to do it but I can hardly stand up, much less come to LA at the moment

TOD:
DVD:  It's Hot In Cleveland, The Harlot's Progress (BBC), I Married A Witch
CD:  Dearest Enemy, a lot of Richard Rodgers, Guy Haines, Liz Callaway
VCR:  U can hardly move, much less put the VCR to work!

A youtube recommendation came up for the late, great, really missed Dorothy Loudon singing "Fifty Percent" from the musical Ballroom.

I cannot get the performance out of my head for the last couple of days.

This is truly an example how to put over a song full of emotion and telling the story. A master class unto itself. Broadway performers today can learn from her that "less is more".

I remember that Miss Loudon was supposed to do BK's Jeepers Creepers cd (which needs to be re-released) but she was very ill at the time and would pass away two months later.

Here is the link to the performance which was performed at Carnegie Hall. She received the longest applause that evening.

Friday morning greetings!  I've seen Richard off to cardiac rehab and I'm about to do my basement walk.  Then I'll tidy up the house a bit to get ready for a visit from Rob and Mary Linda.  They're coming tonight to eat pizza and watch their Cincinnati Bearcats play Temple.  Also have to finalize my agenda for the short business meeting we'll have at our AAUW luncheon tomorrow.

We watched the new version of THE GREAT GATSBY last night.

The CGI was spectacular...perhaps too spectacular... and the film itself was "okay".  About halfway through, I remembered that it was released in 3-D.

I'm not sure that Leonardo was the best choice to play Gatsby.  He might be the right age, but I think that Redford (and even Alan Ladd) brought a certain "maturity" to the role that Leonardo lacked.

Lots this week, most of which arrived today so I haven’t watched/heard most of them yet.

Blu-ray:
JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH (Australian release with same extras as Twilight Time version but vastly cheaper!)
HOUSE OF WAX (3D)
LIFEFORCE (Arrow Films UK version)

CD:
THE MIRACLE

DVD:
MOVIES 4 YOU – MORE SCI-FI CLASSICS
THE THIRD SECRET (rental) This is a seriously weird film. Convoluted script with unreal dialogue; fourteen year old Pamela Franklin speaking lines more appropriately written for an adult and Stephen Boyd over-acting like crazy.

Garage Door People have come and gone - last time it was the gears and springs had to be replaced.  This time the motor - installed in 1998 it has given fifteen years of good service but was spazzing out and about to bite the dust, so now we have the latest and greatest new motor, guaranteed for - fifteen years, with a lifetime guarantee for the belt.  Had to reprogram the control pad outside the garage and my car, but that's all done now and it's all working splendidly.  Also, the old motor wasn't really powerful enough for a door as heavy as what we have, so this motor will work much better.  He was surprised the other motor with too little power held out this long.

At the meeting last night we discovered that, while we are having the event catered, we are not allowed to use an sort of heating devices to keep the food warm at the arena (a large school gym) we are having the shindig at!!

This is supposed to be a very fancy event that people are buying tickets for and the last thing we want is to serve people cold food.

And the worst part of all this is that I am the head of the food committee for the event!

This is supposed to be a very fancy event that people are buying tickets for and the last thing we want is to serve people cold food.

And the worst part of all this is that I am the head of the food committee for the event!

OH NO!

Is it too late to find another place?

Can you torch something on the front lawn since it's a festival of lights? Sorry, cheap joke.

Do you know if catering has ever been held at this venue before? Find another caterer who's worked there and ask how they handled it.

Ya, pretty much. The posters have all been printed and posted around town stating where it is being held at.

The plumber I detest arrived the other day and installed a new toilet. (My life is soooo exciting!) He was actually relatively well-behaved this time. He showed up on time, didn't yell at me at all, and didn't even blame me for the plumbing problems. I wouldn't detest him if he behaved like this more often. I dread it every time he has to come out and don't call until I really have to. But it's done and I'm glad this is off my plate.

We often have no mail. I don't mean that "I" don't have mail, I mean the entire building. I don't know how many other buildings are affected, but I doubt that it's just this one. The Post Office wants to eliminate Saturday delivery. I think this is their way to reduce labor without consent of Congress. They just skip some of us a couple times each month.

I said do you think I am stupid?  This is the world's biggest mall -  I'll go buy a  new one for $20  - where's the Hudson Bay company store?! This is a complete ripoff!

he sold me one for $10

We have come upon a huge glitch in our India/US group's upcoming Diwali festival.

Good luck!  Hopefully, it can all get straightened out!

Why don't they want you to use heating devices? Makes no sense. Do they want all the food to be cold when served?

According to the school it is something regarding the Fire Marshal.

I totally agree with you, Mike.  Incredible performance.

This is supposed to be a very fancy event that people are buying tickets for and the last thing we want is to serve people cold food.

And the worst part of all this is that I am the head of the food committee for the event!

Have you gotten a banquet license?

Mike Barnum, it's too bad I am not in your neck of the woods because I am now in full scale  "Take no prisoners"  mode... I bet if I got your locale manager in front of me right now not only would you be allowed food heating ability,  he would also be serving the dang food!!!

Give 'em hell, Harryiet!!

Tonight's performance of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" went fairly well.  I goobered on a couple of sound cues...I must admit that I wasn't paying attention at one point. ::) They were minor goobers, so it wasn't horrible.

Otherwise, the show went well, but the audience wasn't as into it as previous audiences.  I don't know what was wrong with them.

After the show, I wanted to go to Panera Bread for some dinner.  I got an e-mail from them recently about a new rigatoni, which looked pretty good in the picture in the e-mail.  They used to close at 10:00, and since it was only about 9:10, I assumed that they would still be open.  The now close at 9:00. :(

So, I just went across the parking lot to The Outback.  I actually hadn't gone there since they opened many years ago.  I had their aged cheddar and bacon burger.  It was delish.  I also had their cake pops for dessert (they have three different kinds and yes, I had all three).  OMG!  Are those good!  I will definitely go back just for those.

Tomorrow, I want to go to work for a little bit before the matinee...we'll see if I get up in time.

After the matinee, I have about two and a half hours before I have to go back to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts (where TLtWatW plays) so that I can work concessions for the evening show (whatever it is...I forget) on the main stage.

My friend Margo is ushering for that evening show, so we're going to go out for dinner after that.  Maybe I'll talk her into going back to The Outback.  I don't think she's gone there in a long time, either.
