Well, you've read the notes, the notes had second sight, and now it is time for you to post until the second sight cows come home.

And the word of the day is: AUREOLE!
-
Morning all.
That is all.

Larry got a very nice notice by Peter Filichia in his column today
"The ‘20s? Rodgers and Hart’s DEAREST ENEMY opened in 1925, long before original Broadway cast albums became realities. Now, 88 eighty-eight years later, we finally have a recording of the entire score. Marvelous as it is (especially when Kim Criswell sings), don’t miss the enthralling 11 pages of notes by Larry Moore, credited with “reconstruction and additional orchestrations,” and historian Sean O’Donoghue. They let you know what a miracle this two-disc set is."
-
Jane, glad to know you're safe.
-
Happy Vixversary to the Long Island duo.
-
And the word of the day is: AUREOLE!
I'm going to a baby naming synagogue service this weekend for my cousin, whose name happens to be Arielle. Not Aureole exactly, but darn close.
-
Mazel Tov, DR FJL.
-
And congratulations to DR elmore3003 on his glowing notice from Filichia!
-
Thanks, singdaw!
-
Good morning, all.
Blessings for Arielle.

thanks for the review of Sandy's show, ChasSmith. Sounds like it was a lot of fun even if the drive to and from the city was anything but.
When I lived in upstate and would drive ino the city, I had better luck than not. But the not times were really stupendously hellish.

Off to Houston in a few.

good morning to all

Good morning.
Happy Friday vibes.
Happy Weekend vibes.

Wow, yesterdays posts.
MEGA VIBES.
Glad everyone is safe.

Good morning, all.
Great movie comments in the notes today. Top favorites, all of those. I haven't seen PEEPING TOM in years and years, but I've had the UK Blu-ray sitting right here for at least a year, so there's no excuse for that. I'm putting it in the to-watch stack, and I'll have the Criterion EYES WITHOUT A FACE soon. Loved their DVD, but can't wait to see the high-def. This stuff is pure gold, and boy do we live in a fine few years for film collecting.
EDIT: Also have the Arrow Blu-rays of BLACK SUNDAY and BLACK SABBATH, which are a godsend. SABBATH is fun, to be sure, and I love horror anthology films (Amicus, etc.) , but it's not the singular masterpiece that is BLACK SUNDAY. No sirree.
Coffee!

Cheers to DR ELMORE for the Filichia write-up! Just opened that up in another tab and will read it through shortly.

SIMPLY - first listen was in the car last night, which was wonderful but it's time for The Big Speakers.
DEAREST ENEMY - second listen on same, whilst devouring the rest of those above-mentioned notes.
I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE - enjoying this, and will enjoy subbing for that one performance. Nice BK/Varese CD, too, but I don't remember what BK said about it in the memoirs so I need to look that up.
For movies, I've been enjoying a hankering for some slightly offbeat horror or semi-horror favorites:
FIEND WITHOUT A FACE
HORROR HOTEL (aka CITY OF THE DEAD)
BURN, WITCH, BURN (aka NIGHT OF THE EAGLE)
CURSE OF THE DEMON (aka NIGHT OF THE DEMON)
THE WOMAN WHO CAME BACK
I'm into my aka's this week.

Good morning, all! I got hell from the therapists yesterday for sitting too long at the computer since I and they believe that the mucle pain in my right kidney region is may be caused by poor sitting at the computer for long periods. They told me to break frequently and to walk around the apartment before getting back to the keyboard. Because of this pulled muscle, I took a Tylenol with Codeine and a Flexerill last night and I slept. And slept. I am now bathed, dressed and on culpa coffee no. 1.
After reading DR ChasSmith's rave for Sandy, I am really sorry that I missed it last night, but I am happy that he didn't end up the only one there. Then the news of Peter's comment was the icing on the cake. I'm expecting another pan from Steve Suskin for the recording, since anything quasi-operetta is anathema to him.
Today, I must seriously contemplate laundry, although I would prefer to procrastinate. I'll see how much there is and make my determination from that. I may break it down to "really important" and "not so" before it's over.

Cheers to DR ELMORE for the Filichia write-up! Just opened that up in another tab and will read it through shortly.
Okay, but what is that about lethargic conducting? I didn't know this music at all, but I never once sensed that anything was being dragged down.

I suspect Peter feels the tempos on the DEAREST ENEMY TV soundtrack are the correct ones. We'll see what others think.
My only problems with the tempos are that I wanted "I Beg Your Pardon" and "Old Enough To Love" slower to allow them to play with the words more, and I wanted the beginning of the Act Two Finale up to Betsy's entrance with the lantern to be slower to give a feeling of passing time and the house going to sleep.

Back at work today after taking a sick day. I awakened in the wee hours of Thursday morning with a throbbing headache for which I took Bayer aspirin. A couple of hours later, I got up and had a glass of cold water. When dawn broke, I knew the worst of it...it was a light-sensitive headache, would only go away in time and that I'd not be going in to work.
Headache broke around 11 a.m. Light sensitivity remains even today, but it's not gosh-awful, so.
Not seeking pity. Just 'splainin' why I wasn't 'round these here parts yesterday!

DR JANE that was quite an adventure! Thanks for sharing! Whew!
DR CILLA LIZ - that reunion sounds great!!!
Nice to have the Sandy Report from DR CHAS SMITH!

I don't need fireworks,
Don't need parades,
I don't need choirs singing,

Say it to me SIMPLY,

I have listened to SIMPLY ABOUT 7 TIMES. I LOVE IT!
Sandy B. is a talented singer and simply gorgeous!
Best song on the Album. And of course our own BK wrote it.

BK, I have yet to see EYES WITHOUT A FACE, but I always hear such good things about it.

Nice photographs of Sandy's show. Here's a little something from Stu Hamstra's cabaret newsletter - he's doing a full review that should appear this weekend, but here's what the tenor of it will be:
And speaking of the METROPOLITAN ROOM, I was there last night to catch Sandy Bainum's fantastic Ira Gershwin tribute show. Written and directed by Bruce Kimmel, this was a show to remember! Glorious arrangements by Lanny Meyers and incomparable vocals by Ms Bainum made this show a shining example of how great cabaret can be! I'll have a review on the website shortly.

Nice tidbit of a review!
The laundry is finished and so am I. After standing and folding, I got into the building just in time. By the time I got to my floor, the left foot was screaming no more weight!

Nice. Back in the early '70s, I tried to transcribe that from the London recording (Hitchcock Thrillers). There were a few little tidbits I didn't get right, and I'm not sure I completed it, but what I got was pretty close. Did the North by Northwest main title music, too. And part of Vertigo. I think I still have those silly sketches laying around here somewhere.

Ok, so today I'm not feeling so hot. Woke up and was a little sore but not too bad. I went to work and then to the chiro. got another adjustment and then 1/2 hour massage. I agreed months ago to do a speaking engagement at lunch today, so as soon as my massage was over, I had to go do that. The I went back to work but I was just wiped out. So I ended up just packing up some work and coming home for the day

Will they deliver, or do you have to fetch it? I'm going to have the remainder of the Chinese food I ordered last night.

Had a visitor, went and had a chili cheese omelet (my new fave), picked up one package, and am now home for the duration. I'm meeting some folks at nine tonight for a little dessert. Will jog in about an hour, I think. I've also been working non-stop on the revue structure and order - I think I've got act one assembled in an interesting way but it definitely needs at least one or two more songs, I think, to get it to fifty minutes, which is what I want the act to run, although forty-five is fine, too.
Act two is coming along, but I'll also probably need a couple more songs for that. I found my homegrown Peter Pan DVD so I'll give that a look later, and I'll also go back through my Newley/Bricusse lists.

Good evening!

Simply has not arrived in my mailbox yet. The mail carrier left a slip showing a package will be ready for pickup tomorrow. I hope that's it!

Friday evening greetings! Left here a little after 10 to visit with Mom and pick up her shopping list before meeting my friend Becky for a long lunch at Panera. DR elmore thank you for sharing the wedding pics. I'm sorry you couldn't be in Dublin. I've missed too many weddings in L.A.
-
Listening to our next release. It's only taken thirty-five years to come out but it was worth the wait - it's Heaven.
"Heaven"? I've never heard of that. I'll have to look it up!
;)
-
Thank you DR Ginny. I'm glad your mother was better than you expected.
-
In IMDb, there's Heaven (1988) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120697/reference) and Heaven (2002) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0246677/reference). Could it be one of those?
-
Maybe it's Dave Grusin's HEAVEN CAN WAIT score.....
-
Thanks for the vibes, y'all.
Sorry, Ron, I missed that you were feeling puny. Feel better!
-
Not sure about the second one.....

Probably not. :)

Perhaps it's both?

It's almost Britcom time!

Thanks for sharing this with us. :)
Congratulations DR elmore!
Ben left out the next paragraph where he complains about the conducting!
I did that on purpose! I didn't want to sneeze on the good stuff.

I think he had three paragraphs: one good, one bad, and one good.

Nice pics!

DR Jane my library finally go the Lisa Gardner books 1 and 2 (the ones she wrote as Alicia Scott). The first book was damaged. But they said they already have the replacement. I don't know that I will be able to read these now as I have 3 other library books to read. And in November I am taking part in a "clean up your ereader" challenge where we read netgalley ebooks and ebooks under $5. I have tons of both of these that I really want to read.
-
And the word of the day is: AUREOLE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: HALO
-
I am going to watch Masterchef Junior. I am surprised but i am loving this show.
And my older niece watches it (she gets to watch one reality show that is kid friendly - in the Spring it was So You Think You Can Dance).
My younger niece was mad that she never got to watch any of these shows. So my sister told her she could watch too if she could sit there. And she loved it too. She could not stop talking about it.

Maybe it's Dave Grusin's HEAVEN CAN WAIT score.....
That would be Heaven, wouldn't it. Frankly, heaven can wait, but I can't.

I'm thinking about getting carry out for dinner. Don't feel like cooking
I am curious. Do most people here use the term "carry out". I don't know that i've really heard that term before.
-
Feel better vibes for DR RonP~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Okay, then - must jog now.
-
Ok, so today I'm not feeling so hot. Woke up and was a little sore but not too bad. I went to work and then to the chiro. got another adjustment and then 1/2 hour massage. She did a lot of work and I'll go back on Monday. I'm pretty wiped out but I think it's helping. I got a tube of Deep Blue. Man I love that stuff
If this continues, call your doctor. Do not end up in my shape!
It's not uncommon to feel tired and wiped out after the massage work. I haven't had one in a long time and she "released" a bunch of knots in my back. I'm drinking a lot of water and can sleep in tomorrow. That should help. I go back for more on Monday

Your eReader has more books to be read than mine does. Let me know how you do with the challenge. Alicia Scott can wait :)

I also say "to go".

I'm thinking about getting carry out for dinner. Don't feel like cooking
Will they deliver, or do you have to fetch it? I'm going to have the remainder of the Chinese food I ordered last night.
I called Applebees, they don't deliver but you drive down and park in one of two spaces and they bring it out to your car

Water is good to drink after a massage. I have gone to a number of people that handed me a glass of water right after.

Next best thing to delivery. I've never had that kind of service, sure beats going inside and waiting for the food. I suppose that really would be "to go" vs "carry out" ;)
-
DR Cilla are you feeling any better?

That's the term here for when you make an order to go and go pick it up. Otherwise we call it delivery.
-
It's almost Britcom time!
And for me, it's sound board operating time! After that, well...we'll have to see. ;)
Be back later!
-
Some restaurants have a separate section of the counter that will say "carry out".
-
I just remember it being the TEDIOUS Burn Witch Burn....
Well, I love, love, love (that is 3 loves) WEIRD WOMAN which is based on the same story, so I am hoping that BURN WITCH, BURN will be fun as well.
I was just told about WEIRD WOMAN two days ago when mentioning BURN, WITCH, BURN to someone. That's with Lon Chaney Jr. and directed by Reginald Le Borg, right? I didn't even know I had it, but I do, in the INNER SANCTUM movies set.

Yes....yes it would.

All those who need to feel better, FEEL BETTER!!!

Watching BURN WITCH BURN ...
-
Back from a three-mile jog - got a couple of good ideas.
-
Thanks for all the vibes etc. I'm slowly feeling better tonight. The massage made me sleepy and sluggish, but overall the chiro appointments have really made me feel better and I'm sure the massages will too. My posture is better and I don't have headaches like I did. So, even though I may not be 100%, I'm definitely getting better.

Vibes to everyone else who needs them

Actually Heaven (2002) was on TV this afternoon and caught the tail end of it before I had to go out tonight.

And in other news..........
I will be directing Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart as an one night only reading. It will be a fundraiser for the "Worlds AIDS Museum and Education Center" that it is situated in Fort Lauderdale, FL. It will be presented on a Friday night in January to be determined. I am trying to get some out television/radio personalities to do the show with us in some cameo roles.
-
Thank you all for the Anniversary wishes yesterday
-
Jane what an hike! I am so happy your story had a happy ending!
-
FeeL Better vibes for RLP

Feel better Vibes for Elmore

Feel better Vibesfor Cilla
-
Jack - I am pleased you had a such a good result in your health care search
-
My SIMPLY cd came yesterday and I have been enjoying it , Vixdad and I are sorry we missed the show- and it would have been a pleasant way to celebrate our anniversary but we never would have been able to be there on time unless we both took a couple of hours off of work and that simply wasn't a possibly for either of us
-
no pun intended
-
instead we took in a 8:30 showing of Gravity in 3D
The Vixter kindly picked up the tickets for us and they were waiting for us when we got home
Vixdad is a real space fan - and we both very much enjoyed the movie. The plot was different than I had imagined and I was on the edge of my seat for most of the show
I will be shocked if it does not win the Oscar for best special effects, I truly felt that they were in space
-
After the movie we went to the local diner for a small meal
-
Saturday we will go to a hugely overpriced trendy steak house for our "official" anniversary dinner
-
We were given a gift card for said restaurant
-
VIBES and Prayers for Ginny and Mom
-
and enquiring minds want to know...
what was consumed at Panera?
-
Congratulations to Elmore on a well deserved fine review
-
Oh and Vixdad had two dozen beautiful white roses in a lovely vase delivered to me at work yesterday
-
My back has been aching again lately - I think it is more because I have been gaining weight again but I do think a trip to the chiro is in my future
-
and maybe tube of Deep Blue

we call it "take out" here

Great news, Mike.

One of my Dublin producers,Jonathan Ford, married the beautiful Órfhlaith Flynn today. I wish I could have been in Dublin for the wedding.
Darn cute couple!
Yes, they are.
-
After a day of barbecuing, Bonnie and I went out for dinner. The thought of more meat was making us both rather ill, so we somehow ended up at an amazing Southern Indian restaurant. The smell alone made us hungry, and we were the only non-Indian people in the place. Had an onion dosa, followed by hard-boiled egg biryani. Bonnie had a vegetable korma that had a touch of coconut milk and plenty of spice. We were both very happy.
MBarnum, I thought of you during that dinner.
-
Thanks, ChasSmith, for the great photos.

Now, a beer before bedtime.

BK, do any of these cast members have other jobs, or go to school?
-
Thanks again for all the vibes and get well wishes. I'm already starting to feel better. Drinking lots of water has helped a lot

Did PBS pay for Michael Buble to go to college and now he has to work off the debt by being on every effen program they produce? Mark my words, he is going to show up on Season 4 of DOWNTON ABBEY.

Fantastic, BK

Back from a fun time at the Coral Cafe. I had a BLTA and a small slice of pumpkin pie. Thank heaven I jogged.

TCB, if you mean the revue cast, yes, I'm sure most of them have regular jobs.
