Well, you've read the notes, the notes were filled with songs, and now it is time for you to post until the singing cows come home.

Good morning, all! And I am awake and moving about.  This morning I will go down to Toyland, hopefully accomplish some work, and test the waters. I very much want to get back to work. The length of my stay depends completely on how well I do. Last night I watched my Britcoms and a few episodes of Season Two of HOT IN CLEVELAND, so demented and off the  wall and so outrageously funny.

DR cillaliz, I really liked MY WEEK WITH MARILYN.

DR TCB, you look great in those photos.

DR ChasSmith, I hope you are feeling better.  Has everyone had a flu shot?

I must make the bed, finish my coffee, and head downtown.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Healthy Vibes to one and all! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are on Long Island again this weekend. We will be back in the city later today.
Anthony has been helping his father with another project and I came out on Friday for the relaxation and food.
I slept until 7:15am. Wow, haven't slept that long for ages.
Good morning, all.
Took some heavy duty nighttime cold capsules and had a good solid sleep.  Feeling better, though the cold is definitely still in residence.  I'm worried that I will have to cancel my own dental cleaning and checkup which are scheduled for 1 p.m. tomorrow... because I had to do that exactly two weeks ago for other reasons and now I'll feel horrible calling again on the morning of.  Well, we'll just have to see what things look like in the morning.
I have NOT yet had my flu shot, so this cold may be taken as come-uppance for putting it off.  No excuse for that.  I do get one every year and I'll do so this week, as soon as this has passed.
Back from Maryland where our baby cousin was named in a lovely synagogue service.
So what was your baby cousin named?
Her name in English is Arielle.  I think the synagogue service was about bestowing her Hebrew name as a member of the Jewish community, and I forget her Hebrew first name, but her middle name in Hebrew is Shoshanah.
Last night on C-Span 3, they had a program about the Saturday Night Massacre of the Watergate era.  It was most informative and entertaining.
During the wrap up - Jill Banks who had been one of the assistant Special Prosecutors said: "Well, I'm not sure I'm the one to comment on the legacy of Watergate....I'm from Illinois where we have a special wing in our Federal prison for former governors....."
It was all very interesting to hear the viewpoint of those who were there at the time.....
And yesterday, I forgot to mention one of my favorite pianists - Mr Jonathon Edwards....here playing while his wife Darlene sings "Cocktails for Two"....  This is dinner music for people who aren't very hungry.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EpMeOgWBes
Mr Edwards has said that he considers the sheet music just a suggestion of what should be played.
So true DR ARNOLDMBROCKMAN.  I am glad you are a fan.
Paul Weston told the story of being on the golf course with a friend who mentioned that his wife had bought the Edwards album.  Paul realized the man didn't know who really recorded it, and he asked the man what he thought.  The man replied: "Oh, I think he's great, but she's not so hot!"
DR Ben, I took a taxi. I had to much to cart5 from the apartment, but I will in the next 30 minutes take a No 7 Bus uptown. I accomplioshed much and i am quite happy to be back at work.
On Tuesday, I may take the bus back down, depending on how therapy goes on Monday.
I love Jonathan and Darlene, who did not perform much on the first recording "The Piano Artistry of Jonathan Edwards" or some such title. I believe it was the second album in Paris that established her as an artiste of the highest caliber. They and Anna Russell got me through college.
And I am home. By taxi.  I worked until 2:15, and then waited forever at 6th and 27th for either one of two buses that never came. There's no bench there so I can't sit, and after 20 minutes wait I gave up and took a taxi home. My left leg was beginning to throb and the discomfort was killing me. I won't be going back for a while, given the bus situation, but it was great to be working again on something again.
I've never heard of them.  I won't be able to watch this until I get home.  The "sound board" is on the computer that I'm using to post and the sound is hooked up to the theater's speakers.  It would not be good for me to play this while the pre-show music is playing. ::)
i've ben up since 3:00am this morning as I went to the local swap shop where around around 5am to wait in line to get a place to set up to sell stuff. I got rid of DVDs and Blu Rays I no longer watch. Also sold a bunch of CDs that are save on my laptop. I remember a time when you could sell your collection on Ebay for $$$$, but this is no longer the case, so it was sold for a fraction what I could get at one time. But I am glad to have got them finally out of the house. I will go back again sometime next month or early December to try and sell the balance. It nice to have some extra pocket $$$.
I am going to miss the Cinema presentation of Merrily We Roll Along on Wednesday as I am going to be in Montreal. It seems that Canada won't be getting it until a few weeks later and I will be back home by then. Unless their is an Encore presentation (not scheduled at this time) I will miss it.
I saw the original Broadway production---4th preview---I new their were problems but I thought that the critics at the time were overly harsh when the show finally opened. I never had a problem with the story being told backwards.
As matter of fact one of my playlists on my Itunes has the show being played "forward" and I included songs that were dropped from the original broadway version before it opened.
It is an interview with Richard Sherman. I believe it is from the CBS program Sunday Morning per the logo in the lower right corner. Not sure when it aired. It's more a "fluff" piece. Not much you can do in 7 minutes. It briefly touches on the new stage version of The Jungle Book and nothing on BK's cabaret show. It also doesn't mention the acrimonious relationship between the two brothers who when they weren't working together never spoke to or saw one another.
Of course the Documentary about them "THE BOYS" is a lot more interesting.
I very much like THE BOYS documentary, although it has a very sad turn at the end with the enmity between the brothers - and though both were alive when the documentary was made....now Robert is gone...
What I seem to understand is that it was really a rift between their wives that at least started the problem. There are intimations from quotes from Martin & Lewis and Abbott & Costello to the effect that if a team is to survive - do NOT let your wives socialize....
It reminds me of when Bryan was 5 and discovered "Dr. Who".  It was too scary for Craig and me but Bryan wanted to watch it.  Periodically he would have to leave the room, check up on us, and then return back to the show. :)  If Craig was entertained or napping I would watch with Bryan.
Enjoyable light reading, sort of a gay P.G. Wodehouse, as I recall. Don't remember much of a plot, but I remember smiling a lot as I read it.
DR Jane - DR John G.'s description is apt. Definitely smiles rather than guffaws, but entertaining.
We did not photo the food
but it was delicious
I had seafood bisque  that was really lovely  as my starter and Vixdad had the bacon wrapped scallops
The we had the porterhouse for two with mushrooms and baked potato
and a lovely bougelaise to accompany it all
we were really too full for dessert but order a dish of hagendaz vanilla  as a little sweet at the end of the night
the waitresses brought a big platter with two cinnamon donuts with  white chocolate shavings and caramel sauce and a small cheesecake and a chocolate mousse cake with something that looked like a small roman candle shooting  sparkles every where- we had mentioned it was our anniversary whn we booked th reservation and the dessert was  a gift from the manger
I did find some books I've been wanting to read that weren't previously available, three out of about 30 I looked for.  I'm especially excited about the new Jamie Ford book, SONGS OF WILLOW FROST, that came out last month.  I'm 28th in the queue.
That is a better spot in the queue than the recently added Khaled Hosseini novel.  I'm down from 55th to 53rd out of 107 holds with only 1 book.
That is better than the soon to be released John Gresham novel where I am 83 out of 134 people.
i've ben up since 3:00am this morning as I went to the local swap shop where around around 5am to wait in line to get a place to set up to sell stuff. I got rid of DVDs and Blu Rays I no longer watch. Also sold a bunch of CDs that are save on my laptop. I remember a time when you could sell your collection on Ebay for $$$$, but this is no longer the case, so it was sold for a fraction what I could get at one time. But I am glad to have got them finally out of the house. I will go back again sometime next month or early December to try and sell the balance. It nice to have some extra pocket $$$.
Mike, what is the problem selling on ebay?  I used to go there a lot, but being on a fixed income has kept me away.
This morning I served as communion assistant and the Vixter was assisting minister at the  9 AM service, and then, since the property Committee was hosting  coffee hour today I popped  down the road to the Presbyterian church
I have had a close relationship to this church since I was 18 and belonged to a "Coffeehouse " there; in fact most of my closest friends today are people that I met through that group,
The minister there is wonderful-  the Vixter also belonged to the youth group there and they also allowed me to use a room there for Girl Scout meetings
Many of my friends are members there and the minister there was a great comfort to all of us when I was  going through the cancer treatments
(He jokes that  I am the only Luthaterian he knows)
The minister is retiring  and next Sunday is his final service and retirement party, but as I am  running coffee-hour next week for our Staff Appreciation and New Members day I cannot attend their service then  (although I am going to the retirement luncheon)
So to make a short story long  I was able to get to the Presbyterian church in time to attend their 10:30 service and hear  Pastor John  preach one last time  and then scooted back to my church in time to speak to the new members group about  volunteer opportunities in social ministry, lay reading , coffee hour etc etc
I've learned patience with the eBook library.  I remember when I would rush out to buy a book or check it out shortly after a release date.
My library's ebooks are not compatible with my kindle. But I find I don't care. I have so many ebooks to read. And I love getting the hardcovers from the library.  Plus I don't know that I would do well with the 3 week limit. At least with hardcovers I can renew them usually.
I am not patient either. Luckily since I request the books I want far in advance I am usually #1 in the reservation queue.  I definitely don't think that i would enjoy being #50.
DR Jane my library did get Maggie's Man and I was #2. I found that odd. But since i don't have the time to read it now it's fine.
The only thing that i've been in a long line for at my library is Season Two of Homeland. I requested it way before they got it. But there were already 15 people ahead of me. So now i am #10. And we get dvds that are tv series for 1 week. So it will be at least December before I can see it.
So I decided to practice a couple of songs before our concert today. It only took me about 5 minutes to realize that I really do have whiplash and it doesn't go well with holding a flute to play it for long periods of time.  So, I was still going to play the concert until my shoulder and neck started hurting more as I drove to the theater.  So, I made the decision to sit this one out.  We have enough flutes to cover and this is a volunteer thing, not a professional thing.  Everyone was very understanding.  I turned in my music (we do that after every show) and watched the rehearsal for awhile.   We sound really good from the audience.   Several people said they wanted me to wait and eat lunch with them between rehearsal and the concert, but I snuck out after awhile and went home.  I'm glad I did
 Our first trombone player said he drove past my accident.  He was following the ambulance and saw us all there but didn't realize it was me.
I am hoping I can shave my beard for Mr. Potter.
I'm actually doing pretty well.  Today the band rehearsed for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, took a break then played about a 90 minute concert.  That's more than I think I'm ready for, but since we don't rehearse this week, I'm hoping I'll be fine for the next rehearsal which is 10 days away.  Flute choir is next Sunday, but I can always sit out part of a rehearsal.  Can't do that with a concert
I am sorry you weren't able to perform, Cilla; but probably the wise thing to do.
Glad you're feeling better, Cillaliz, but better still that you realize not to push it too much too soon. I wish I could be more like that.
It's an all volunteer band and we have more than enough flutes. I had a couple lines someone else had to cover, but it was an easy part.  I'm sure they did fine.  I was glad I went there to turn in my music. Everyone was great about it.
Thanks everyone for the nice words about my Scrooge pictures.  I spent about two hours just going thru the second act looking for a particular shot, but I actually preferred some other photos more.
I was catching up - I see TCB has been making preparations to educate people, just in case anybody was wondering ,  I would dearly love to be educated
Be careful what you wish for!
There were some extra HD channels I could add to Directv with a free three months.  Smithsonian was one of them and I've been watching it and recording almost nonstop
I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon with the Chiro and the massage therapist.  I'm looking forward to that. I just took my Aleve.  I'll use my Deep Blue Rub soon and go to bed.
Back from a really fun meet and greet with our cast, Kay Cole (choreographer) and Adryan Russ (assistant).  Genghis Cohen was especially yummilicious this evening and I ate way too much, but hopefully it won't do me any damage.
DR vixmom, you and Steve look so happy and wonderful in the photo!
Vixdad isn't his real name?
That's what I was thinking.
The only thing that i've been in a long line for at my library is Season Two of Homeland. I requested it way before they got it. But there were already 15 people ahead of me. So now i am #10. And we get dvds that are tv series for 1 week. So it will be at least December before I can see it.
Interesting.  The library where I work has a 7-day loan period for feature films, but a 3-week period for TV series.  Any item at all can be renewed up to two times for whatever the regular loan period is, unless there are requests.
