Well, you've read the notes, the notes were rehearsed, and now it is time for you to post until the rehearsed cows come home.

And the word of the day is: ENNOBLE!

And a very happy haineshisway.com birthday to former dear reader Cason.

Happy happy day to Cason!
-
Good morning, all.
Happy birthday, DR Cason, wherever you are.
-
Off on the barbecue trail.
-
Good morning, all! I slept really well, and I'm ready for a second cup of coffee while I ponder my day: bank, corner post box, and a lot of CD listening for some research.
Beyond that, I'll putter about the apartment, take out the recycled paper, and keep tabson the TV.
DR cillaliz, I hope the massage helped and you're feeling better today.
-
Good morning, all.
Pretty decent sleep, all things considered. And we must consider all things, mustn't we. Oh yes, we must.
Coffee!
-
Good morning.
-
Good Morning on a Tuesday!

Still on page one?
This will never do!

Slow news day at HHW....

Tams Witmark has let us know officially that MY FAIR LADY is restricted and so we are moving ahead with Plan B.....GUYS & DOLLS.

Why is it restricted? Sounds odd.

I'm back from a very emotional weekend. Some of it good, some of it not-so-good. But today is a new day and things move forward. I saw Beautiful - The Carole King musical in SF on Sunday. Act one was great. Act two - not so much. I hope he gets looked at before Broadway.
And that's all I got.
-
I'm up, I'm up - got nine hours of sleep, so that's good.
-
Page one? Really?

This should get us to page 2!

Time to think about lunch!

My lunch (thus far) has consisted of a handful of peanut butter M&Ms. Erg.

Well, that covers all the food groups.

Yesterday, it truly felt like Fall for the first time this year although it was only in the low 70s. Today, we have some fog. When I was driving in, it swirled around my car. Now, it's hovering at a greater altitude....but seems much closer to Lake Merritt, across the street from my office building. Here is a 10:30 a.m. snapshot of same:

The chocolate candy coating is not. But I was desperate! 8)

Do you drive to work every day, DR Ron Pulliam, or were you driving due to the BART strike?
-
Nice photo DR Ron!
-
DR Cilla the last massage I had was a hot stone massage and it was heavenly. That was before I broke my shoulder & have only managed a few chair massages since then. I can't lie on my stomach for more than a minute, kind of makes a massage difficult.
-
Do you drive to work every day, DR Ron Pulliam, or were you driving due to the BART strike?
I drive. It's as close to drive to my office as it would be to drive to a BART station. In addition, I have parking in my office building, so....(it only took 14 years for my name to rise to the top of the list to park in this building).
-
It has been beautiful outside and I spent all yesterday inside with the handyman. He is back today so I went for a short, under an hour, walk before Keith left for errands.
-
So those are vegan, huh?
The chocolate candy coating is not. But I was desperate! 8)
You're forgiven.
-
Nice photo DR Ron!
Thanks. That's a eucalyptus tree trunk in the center of the photo. A large number of eucalyptus were planted along the Lake's western shore many moons ago. Quite a few have been cut down. The trees develop tumors and the trees die from within.

These are troubling times in the kingdom.

BK, it is better to be recognized from your acting days than from your picture on the post office wall!

Printed out orders, answered e-mails, then had some chicken tenders and picked up one package. I'll jog in about twenty minutes.

When we first moved into our house we extended a small section out onto our deck. Instead of closing up a window that was removed I suggested we leave it open for light into the hallway behind it, plus it was easier to communicate from the back rooms to the kitchen and rest of the house.
When we remodeled the kitchen, over my objections, the designer talked Keith into walling up the opening. Yes, from the one side it looked better, however, the hallway has been dark all this time and I can't begin to guess how often I tripped over Sherlock lying in the hallway when Keith's office door was shut. I finally had to put a night light in the hallway.
Yesterday the handyman opened it back up and continues to work on the area today. Light, wonderful light! :)
-
"Yesterday the handyman opened it back up" ....that is the title of the second to last chapter of my autobiography.
-
The full title was going to be: "Yesterday the handyman opened it back up and continues to work on the area today", but those chapters have not been written yet.
-
Sorry folks, but it is all DR Elmore's influence.
-
Slow day here at HHW. Not much happening?

I was supposed to meet Lanny Myers for lunch today and completely forgot. Oy! I was so looking forward to seeing him, and I feel like a complete dolt.
-
Dolt Handyman - I think that was the name of one of Henry Willson's clients.
-
Hello Everyone:
I saw the tail end of the Partridge Family Today.
BK played the role of Howard, WHAT A CUTIE!
-
Dolt Handyman - I think that was the name of one of Henry Willson's clients.
Sure sounds like it! I would love to see an actual list of every actor and actress Willson represented.
And my Criterion disc of THE UNINVITED arrived today! I love this film.

A Very Happy Birthday to former DR Cason!

We don't have real delis in Salem, Oregon, 97301 (or any of the other Salem zip codes).
I don't think that I've ever been in a "real" deli, and I'm pretty sure that there aren't any in the Olympia-Lacey-Tumwater area. There is, however, an authentic German deli, but that's not the same thing.
-
Tams Witmark has let us know officially that MY FAIR LADY is restricted and so we are moving ahead with Plan B.....GUYS & DOLLS.
To quote Auntie Mame: Exclusively what and restricted to whom?
-
Awww, sorry Larry.
-
Keith insisted I go for another walk since it is so beautiful today. I'm very grateful he got me off my butt.

TOD, continued--
I already echoed DR ArnoldMBrockman in saying pastrami on rye at the Carnegie Deli, and that certainly is the #1 staple. But that's not to say I don't love a Reuben or a corned beef, or corned beef hash with an egg (another meal to die for at the Carnegie), and I love the slaw and the half sour pickles, and so much else. So. Much. Else.
I'm usually a purist when it comes to having the pastrami with only mustard, but I look forward to trying it BK's way at Langer's or wherever in L.A., with the slaw and Russian dressing. I'm very much a proponent of the addition of slaw to certain sandwiches (some southern BBQ being another example of where it works so well you never want to stop shoveling the stuff into your mouth).
-
TOD-related question:
Does anyone remember Reuben's (restaurant) when it was on (I think) East 58th Street, maybe in the block east of Fifth Ave.? I was only there on a few visits to NYC in the early '70s. It made a huge impression on me and I was so sorry years later to find it was no longer around, or - I forget now - maybe only in changed form in another location?
-
My favorite deli food, which sadly is difficult to find anymore, is a good crisp New Kosher Pickle.
-
Where do you get these??
Oh... here and there around the Interwebs! :)
I figure it's my duty to bring the seasons to those who live in climates where there aren't 4 distinct seasons.

I don't know Reuben's. I miss the Chock Full O' Nuts places. They had great shrimp salad sandwiches.

That's definitely Washington state.

Tomorrow would be a perfect day for our hiking group to go to Mt. Ashland. It might also be our last chance to do so before winter. I guessed correctly that our, no so, fearless leader would decide to stay close to home. We are going to the lake and it appears it will be a short walk. I will extend mine by walking to the lake to meet up with them :)
Keith will stay home with the handyman and mow the lawn, pick up leaves, etc.

And this is pretty cool...Holocaust survivor to make symphony debut with Ma (http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/entertainment/20131022/US--Holocaust.Survivor-Concert/).
BOSTON (AP) — A 90-year-old Holocaust survivor will make his orchestral debut with renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma on Tuesday to benefit a foundation dedicated to preserving the work of artists and musicians killed by the Nazis....

Hello!
-
Hi, Kevin!
-
Hi, George!
-
DR Elmore, thanks for the good wishes. The massage did make me feel a lot better. I really like the trigger point work that releases the knots in the muscles. I had a lot of them. I'm still sore, but nothing like I was before. We don't have band rehearsal this week and I don't have any other evening events, so I'm going to be able to rest in the evenings. I'm sure that will help
-
It looks like autumn is finally coming. The temps are going down for the next few days.

I got the police report today. The kid who caused the accident was 19 and said he was messing with his radio and didn't notice the cars stopped at the light. Sheesh!

I read that Sally Struthers was doing a tour and that she's very good in the role!

I'm downsizing my photos from last week so I can post them. I'm sure I won't be happy with the results, but here you go......

Beautiful, DR Jane!

That makes more sense. I can't imagine Sally Struthers doing MFL.

There was a wide variety of mushrooms on our hike. One hiker collected a good number of them to cook, others she left not trusting the safety of eating them. She said these can be eaten but she doesn't do so.

Sunday Keith took photos with his new phone and said they automatically went into drop-box. I'm going to see if I can figure out how to retrieve & post them.

There are some spectacular autumn photos in there but I haven't a clue how to retrieve them unless I have to download them first.

This is from an online review of Nico Muhly's Two Boys, a new opera that premiered at the Met on Monday night. While they loved the opera and the music, they also had this to say:
The production's only significant miscalculation was including dancers to accompany the choruses, a visual that seemed wildly out of place in such a naturalistic, starkly linear work. The conceit is made worse by...[the] excrable choreography, with the undulating ensemble recalling the Solid Gold Dancers.

I am the opposite. I can wait for our first snow. And hope it doesn't come for a very very long time.

-
I'm sure that I'm not the only one who will see this tomorrow.
-
My friend Margo is having dinner with her friend Marsha and I may join them...if it's early enough, that is. Margo might go see MWRA with me, but she said that Marsha more than likely wouldn't be interested.
-
Back from rehearsal two - my least favorite kind of rehearsal that I'd rather not attend must for arrangement things - learning group numbers and harmonies. Had a little drama prior to that but we're all hoping it's passed now - involving one of our cast.
-
Still trying out different routes - the one part that seems to be working well is taking Laurel (Crescent Heights) all the way to Olympic and Olympic to West LA - from there I haven't found the ideal thing - tomorrow I'll try Overland.
-
I did do a three-mile jog (can't remember if I mentioned or not) and otherwise just did show related stuff.
-
Well, I have officially purchased on-line and printed at home my ticket to see "Merrily We Roll Along" tomorrow night!
-
Just had to share. :)
