Well, you've read the notes, the notes had collaboration, and now it is time for you to post until the collaborative cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PRAXIS!
-
Morning all.
That is all.

Saturday....it is a work day. And then we have the celebration for the 65th anniversary that my parents observed a month ago....a houseful of people!
Oh my....
-
So I don't know when I will return.....time will tell....
-
Thanks to Jeanne and to JohnG for their comments last night!!!
-
Good morning, all! I am taking the bus down to Toyland this morning. I'll take the 104 to 57th Street and there transfer to the No 7 or No 20 bus.
I will post more from there.

TOD: Quite a few rewarding collaborations, both on the show-biz and non-show-biz (business world) end of things. So hard to come up with one, and hard to enumerate, for fear of leaving someone out.
-
DR Jrand63 - wishing you and your family a wonderful anniversary celebration!
-
Good morning.

Good morning, DR Laura. Your pint-sized neighbors sure are entertaining! :)
-
TOD - My most transformative collaboration was with the 59 other singers - and the conductor - of my college choir. Through 4 years of concerts and national tours, that collaboration was the most joyous and exhilarating of my life.

My sister just called to say that they are at the Swim Meet. For the first race my niece is in heat 36 of 37. And for backstroke she is swimming the last heat with 2 of her teammates. I thought that seemed odd since there are at least 6 pools. But my sister said that their swim team had 3 of the 6 fastest times going into the meet. That is so crazy.
-
I've been up for hours since my little niece slept over. And I guess Saturdays mean nothing to her.
-
Good morning from Montreal
-
My last day here and the weather is going to be crappy. Cold, rain and chance of snow. I hope the plane leaves on time. It's a turnaround from the Miami flight that I take to get down here.
-
Greetings from Toyland!
-
Party wishes for Jrand and family!

In the brilliant minds of the city planners they have closed the two access roads to the airport. My mother was going to drive me there, but getting back would be a chore for her. So I am taking the city and leaving a couple of hours earlier than planned just in case the bus gets caught up in the traffic mess.
I don't know why they do this during the day! In southern Florida where I live when they need to do work on the I-95 or the Turnpike it is done overnight as to inconvenience as few as possible and the message signs over the roads announce this days ahead of time.

TOD
One of the most memorable was taking a cabaret act of songs and making it into a 3 part theatrical piece called Survivors. Three monologues were written and songs by Kurt Weill were chosen to fit the stories. Yes it was a juke box musical but we were sold out at every performance and won a best of the fringe festival. I worked with the actor who originated the cabaret act. He came to me the idea and it was one of the most satisfying times in the theater I ever had,.
-
What a lovely Saturday morning-- let's all enjoy it.
-
TOD:
Although we often disagreed, working with BK on HAIL ON THE CHIEF!
-
Good morning, all.
And vibes for all in need.
-
TOD: I would have to say it's my working relationship with my writing partner, Bonnie Walker. We worked alongside each other for 10 years at the newspaper, then went into business with the website, SavorSA.com, before writing our first book together and now working on our barbecue book. We don't work at the same speed, so we can fight and scream and fret and obsess and laugh, sometimes all at the same time, and go off and get done what we need to. Or we can sit down and, through the fighting and snipping and snarking and silliness, we can still get done what we need to do together.
-
Good morning, all.
Been enjoying a quiet do-nothing Saturday morning, a nice respite from the craziness of yesterday morning.
-
Good morning!
-
Saturday morning greetings! It's a blustery fall day here in SW Ohio. We're home all day today and I'm actually going to cook a meal for Richard - beef & noodles. Our house will smell very good later this afternoon!
-
The newest Broadway Radio Show is now up here on the website.....this week we look at the 1943 Broadway Musical One Touch Of Venus to celebrate the Jay Records release of the first full recording of the score. You'll hear about the history of the show as well as lots and lots of selections from the new recording.....Enjoy!!!
-
TOD - collaborating with Richard on our (almost) 33-year marriage. Parenting Rob, too!
-
I'm up, I'm up - didn't sleep enough - about six hours, I think.
-
Listening to "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me," which was taped Thursday evening at Cincinnati's Music Hall with Rob and Mary Linda in the audience.
-
DR Singdaw, SUPER COOL PIC of the trees reflecting in the water. Thank you. The other tree is also beautiful.

I've been up for hours since my little niece slept over. And I guess Saturdays mean nothing to her.
You might have well gone to the swim meet ;)
I'm sure your little niece would rather be home with you.

I hope no more news from DR Mike means he made it to the airport and his flight was on time.
SAFE & EASY TRAVELING VIBES!

The collaborating stories are interesting to read.
I didn't think I had any until I read DR Ginny's and realize I too have an extremely successful collaboration. :)
-
I shall shortly be on my way to the theater.

More TOD - Collaboration was one of the 3 nonprofit watchwords that I used to teach my clients at the library. The other 2 were Assessment and Sustainability.
An organization with which DR Ben and I are very familiar has devoted a major portion of its website to the topic:
Nonprofit Collaboration Resources (http://foundationcenter.org/gainknowledge/collaboration/)

OK, "Wait, Wait..." is over and it's time for a basement walk - bye for now!

So far the flight is leaving on time. Now it just getting there. I am leaving at 2pm so hopefully it will take no more than 60 minutes. which will give me 3hrs to kill

Is this the same Bonnie Walker who was in the original cast of Gypsy and the recreated Robbins' choreography in several later revivals?

You might have well gone to the swim meet ;)
I'm sure your little niece would rather be home with you.
The next swim meet is much closer. And hopefully her call time won't be at 7:30am.
My sister called with the results. She totally surpassed expectations on 2 of her 3 races. There is something called back streamline (where you swim on your back with your hands over your head). She finished 3rd out of 102 girls. And in front crawl she finished 11th. I was shocked at that. Pretty crazy especially since 2 girls from her pool that finished ahead of her are in the 9-10 girls swim team, but they must not quite be 9 yet. In back crawl (normally her best stroke) she had a problem with her goggles and slowed down at the end. But she still finished 17/102.
My brother-in-law recorded the races so I was able to see them.
-
TOD: My collaborations on all the productions of my plays that I wrote have been wonderful...particularly the last on my adaptation of TARTUFFE with director Richard St. Peter...in which I also played Orgon. Certainly the collaboration with all the wonderful British talent on my first films, the two Sherlock movies, was memorable and exciting.
-
I've now put the fixes into the orchestra score and orchestra parts for DEAREST ENEMY. The next step is to scan the corrected vocal score and create a pdf file, Then I need to assemble the orchestra books and deliver the whole shebang to Rodgers & Hammerstein.
For now, I'm ready to hop on the bus and head uptown.

Yucky day here. Cold and rainy!

I'm at the theater and it's pre-show time for our first performance today. There is a group of 30 people from an on-line school who have arrived. A big section of seats was reserved for them.

I was just told that we're holding. I don't know why. Probably another group of people who've pre-ordered their tickets aren't here yet.

RIP Marcia Wallace http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=836174 (http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=836174)

I loved her so much on the original Bob Newhart show
-
TOD, when I was in college, I lived in a creative arts dorm. We did PIPPIN. I played Berthe, which was fun, but I also worked with another student to orchestrate - or re-orchestrate, the show down to a small group of musicians. I can't remember the exact breakdown right now. We also transposed the songs to best fit the voices of the actors. For a couple kids not really knowing what we were doing, it turned out really well. I was quite proud of that.
-
The other collaboration would be when I first started working in that government job used to have here in SC. There were just two lawyers and a secretary then. I had the best working relationship with the other lawyer. It was by far the most collaborative relationship I've had as a lawyer. I enjoyed it a lot.
-
DR Jennifer - congratulations! How fantastic that your niece did so well at her swimming meet.

And I am home after two hellish bus rides, hellish for several reasons:
1. the second bus did accept my Metrcard as a transfer so I was screwed out of a second fare.
2. the town's a mess today because the President's here and traffic is screwed up beyond belief.
3. crippled old coots get run down by too many oafs who don't give damn and there were too many out today on crowded buses.
Some days I really understand the urge to take a gun and just blow the idiots out of the damned way.

And now, we're at intermission. It's fairly full audience, but fairly sedate...not much reaction. Oh, well. We'll see how they respond during the second act.

DR Elmore, when I lived in Phoenix, I dreamed of getting through rush hour in a tank, just rolling over the cars stopped in front of me
-
Good afternoon. I spent a lovely day in a local canyon looking at fall wildflowers and things.
-
Went for a short drive this morning. I was hoping to see beautiful leaves but most of them are still green.

I understand completely!
To cheer myself up, I just ordered pizza from a pizza place my physical therapists love, Two Boots Pizza.

Two Boots Pizza is a winner! No complaints from a very happy customer.
Now I'm going to watch a bit more HOT IN CLEVELAND episodes. then the Britcoms at 8:00. After that, something scary.

Now I want some good pizza.

Now I want some good pizza.
For our in-between-the-shows lunch, someone brought in a couple of pizzas that were very good! There was also some homemade apple crisp that was delish! Most of everything else was pretty good looking, but I mainly just had the pizza. :)
-
It's now time to open the house for the second performance today.
-
I'm enjoying the songs from One Touch of Venus thanks to DR Donald Feltham!
-
Ginny, your Michigan State boys are being mean!
Yeah, but they're only mine when Michigan has a bye week! Next week, big Mitten rivalry - Michigan/Michigan State. The governor sits on one side of the field for the first half and on the other for the second. Go, Blue!
-
DR Elmore, there's a Two Boots Pizza just a few blocks from our NYC abode. What kind should we order?
-
Thanks DR jane. Too bad back streamline isn't an actual stroke. :)
LOL Is it an exercise to work the legs?
I have no idea. Obviously you need to have really powerful legs. But I don't know how they came up with the idea to do this at a swim meet. I don't know that they ever do relays (one of my favs to watch). So maybe they had to come up with other individual things to do.

The new airline seats that are now coming out are exactly 17 inches wide! How many people are they planning to put in every row?

Wednesday, November 13, 2013, 6pm, Artie's Delicatessen, 2290 Broadway at 83rd, NYC!
It's in the book! And the calendar. Looking forward to it.
It will be DR Ginny's return to the Harmonia Gardens!
More likely, it will be the homecoming of Elmore Gallagher Levi

I'm not sure about Harmonia Gardens, but I am contemplating an attempted theatrical comeback. Our local group is having auditions in January for a play titled 100 Saints You Should Know and the part of the mother of the priest appeals to me. Anyone know the play? I'm going to try to buy a copy in NYC next month.

What is the current width to compare this to? Did you verify the source of this story? I can barely fit into a seat that size.

Back from a good and productive rehearsal - it's taking some of our cast a long time to learn the lyrics and I've gently suggested that until we do so none of the staging will work properly, nor I can begin to hone performances or even see what we've got. I think in the next few days most will do so, and then I'll just become a little more insistent with those who haven't. But I think everyone's have a good time, and Kay Cole did a lovely job with our opening number and we showed her what I'd done with the number that follows that and she liked it a lot. So tomorrow is a lot to do, and it's all the group stuff - everything else is done.
-
DR Elmore, there's a Two Boots Pizza just a few blocks from our NYC abode. What kind should we order?
There are 2 Boots all over the city so you could be staying anywhere in New York City.
No, unfortunately, it will only be me. Anthony can't make it for dinner that night.

I was on our high school Facebook page and noticed a new neighbor with a familiar name. It is a childhood friend of Keith's that he has talked about. Thing is, Keith's memories are from elementary school, before Keith's family moved. All those years in high school Keith had no idea is friend was also there, just half a year ahead of us. What a shame.
I'm not on FB with the friend and Keith is composing an email to send him. First Keith found several photos from the old days to send.
-
Yes, a year ago Monday our power went out and we were without from Monday evening through Friday afternoon. We were very, very lucky. Others not so much, including Vixmom if I recall correctly.
-
I also talked to our producer because I was promised the floor would be taped out today with the set and it wasn't - that should have happened Thursday night and didn't, and I told her the set guy had to get down there tonight to tape it out so we actually know what we're dealing with when we're doing the staging. And I also said that we had to have our stage manager chosen and in attendance no later than Monday so whomever that is can write down all the blocking.
-
We were very, very lucky.
We were, too.
We never lost power at all, but I don't ever say that too loudly.
Some in our town didn't get their power restored for 3 or 4 weeks.
-
I mean, it's nutty enough to try and do a show like this from whole cloth in three weeks, but everyone has to be firing on all cylinders for it to happen. I'm sure getting all this organized quickly would be an ordeal for anyone, but we've got to get it done.
-

Oh my goodness! I can't imagine having no power for that long. Fortunately, I lived in not-so-remote areas. My first apartment by myself after I graduated from college was on the same power grid (or so I was told) that a retirement community and a hospital. In the five and a half years that I lived there, I only lost power once, and it was for just a couple of hours.

It was just above freezing this morning for the dog walk - the coldest so far this fall. I discovered that the zipper on my warmest coat was busted, so one of my errands this afternoon was to replace it, and I found what I thought was an excellent deal.

Good luck, BK! I've never been in a situation where we didn't have a stage manager, but I know what it's like to have a not-so-good stage manager. :-\

Sometimes I think thatI don't know when computer speak tops, and just bad spelling starts. Here is one fan lamenting the death of Marcia Wallace:
"Nice Woman,, very funny : > ) She will be mist,,,"
It has a kind of metaphysical feel to it.

Why don't you ever stage manage George?
-
Two Boots seems to be the go-to pizza for most of the people I know in the city. I've had it a couple of times, though don't remember which kinds. They're on the lower level (but not the third level) of Grand Central, too, right? Or they used to be.
Me, however, I'm so happy with the uniquely wonderful Connecticut or New Haven style pizzas around me, I am jealous of no man.

No way in hell! Not again. I did once and just did not feel comfortable. It takes more responsibility than what I want from a theatrical experience.
But thanks for asking.
;)

Sorry to hear about Marcia Wallace. Loved her on Bob Newhart and of course as the voice of Bart's teacher on the Simpsons.
-
I stage-managed a production of A Little Night Music once. I thought I did a pretty good job, and always grinned when Desiree's line came:
"Where in the hell is the stage manager?" :)

I forgot to wish former DR Jed a happy birthday. It has even been a long while since his DW Ann has visited us.

Keith is popping corn.

Exactly why I can never go back and visit my favorite city.
-
but now I have to get ready for a costume party
I turn down any invitation to a party that includes a costume!
-
Now I want some good pizza.
For our in-between-the-shows lunch, someone brought in a couple of pizzas that were very good! There was also some homemade apple crisp that was delish! Most of everything else was pretty good looking, but I mainly just had the pizza. :)
Where was the pizza from, George?

Ginny, your Michigan State boys are being mean!
Yeah, but they're only mine when Michigan has a bye week! Next week, big Mitten rivalry - Michigan/Michigan State. The governor sits on one side of the field for the first half and on the other for the second. Go, Blue!
I remembered. That is why I mentioned it today.
-
Page five? Really? Watched one motion picture and may go for another short one.

The new airline seats that are now coming out are exactly 17 inches wide! How many people are they planning to put in every row?
What is the current width to compare this to? Did you verify the source of this story? I can barely fit into a seat that size.

It was on our ABC affiliate newscast. They named the three airlines that have already ordered the seats, and they talked to airline experts, so I imagine the story must be true.

Sorry to hear about Marcia Wallace. Loved her on Bob Newhart and of course as the voice of Bart's teacher on the Simpsons.
I guess Ned Flanders will be a widower again.
-
SIX!
-
One of the newscasters today was reporting on the death of Marcia Wallace. Obviously she isn't a SIMPSON watcher because she said that Marcia was the voice of Mrs. Crab Apple.
-
She was from Iowa

I finished Sycamore Row tonight and really enjoyed it. I highly recommend it. It's definitely a sequel to A Time to Kill, so if you haven't read that, I'd read it first
-
Hmmm, seems like I'm the only one in BKs living room tongiht

I've been taking it easy today. Not sure if I'll go to flute choir practice tomorrow or not. Have to see how the shoulder is doing in the morning
-
Back from seeing "Honeymoon in Vegas" at Paper Mill as well as a reading of "J Edgar Hoover Secrets of Success" at TADA here in the city. A day well-spent.

Hi FJL!
-
Rocky Horror is in IFC. I haven't seen this in years
-
Oh Gees, I can't watch Rocky Horror with Commercials! I better record it so I can forward through them later
-
Seriously, I can't believe I'm the only one here
-
Just back from the costume party
-
we were lazy this year and recycled costumes from previous years

It is hard to believe that it has been a year since Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast.
We were very lucky - we lost power until Friday and lost some roof shingles and a couple of fence panels but there are many people who were living on the south shore of Long Island who are still homeless, one of them being a attorney who does work with our office , a hard working man with with a wife and two children under the age 5 - they lost everything
-
Congratulations to Jennifer's niece! Very impressive!
-
Ginny - do you and Richard have tickets to a show on the 13th?

Well I have a very busy day tomorrow so I had better get me to bed
good night all!

I kept nodding off watching the second motion picture, so I stopped. I've just been playing on the computer, and doing some fun detective work, which has yielded both interesting and amusing results.

Thanks for the report. I liked A Time to Kill very much.

I enjoyed the photos of the Vixfamily, especially Vixdad's.

He made that himself - the jacket and the gun - which has working light and sound effects - he's a clever lad, that one
