Well, you've read the notes, the notes greeted the day and the day was moot, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently greeting the cud.
-
And the word of the day is: CREPUSCULE!
-
Continued from yesterday's posts:
For the pre-show, intermission and post-show, I helped sell merchandise. They were selling Rufus' CD, "Sing Me the Songs: Celebrating The Works Of Kate McGarrigle (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CSCIZ6Y/)" for $20. Kate McGarrigle was his mother (she died almost three years ago). He also had already autographed copies for $25. He didn't come out to autograph anything.
-
Lucy had two of her CDs for sale ($15 each or 2 for $20). One of them, "There's a Last Time for Everything (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FCAD320/)," was just released two weeks ago. She came out at intermission and after the whole show and signed autographs! AND she gave me autographed copies of BOTH her CDs because I helped sell! My friend Margo was also selling and she ALSO got free autographed CDs! She was very nice during the autographing sessions. :D
-
Several people asked and we found out that they are half-siblings. They have the same father (Louden Wainwright III) but they have different mothers. His was the aforementioned Kate McGarrigle and her mother is Suzzy Roche, who is one of the Roche Sisters.
-
And that was my evening. Now, to bed. 8)
-
Morning all.
That is all.

That was the play that was basis for William Finn's "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" musical.

good morning to all
-
And the word of the day is: CREPUSCULE!
Wasn't that the play that was basis for William Finn's "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" musical?
ndeed, per wikipedia:
"The musical was based upon C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E, an original improvisational play created by Rebecca Feldman and performed by The Farm, a New-York-based improvisational comedy troupe. Sarah Saltzberg, Wendy Wasserstein's weekend nanny, was in the original production, and Wasserstein recommended that Finn see the show. Finn brought Rachel Sheinkin on board, and they worked together with Feldman to transform "C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E" into a scripted full-length musical."

I think we should have a day where we ask a question and then answer it! :-)
-
Confused by that post, Mike - but I'll go back and rephrase
-
Good morning, all.
Coffee!
-
More coffee!
-
Change of plans: I'm playing rehearsal tonight, AND Friday. An act of mercy. So I must get up and get crackin'.
Whatever "crackin'" is.
-
Good morning, all! First good night's sleep in a long time, I'm happy to report. I got a good 8-9 hours in.
Today, a trip to City Center for a meeting at 11:00 with my adopted son Joshie and my friend Peter Foley. I hope the meeting is not too long, but I will be happy to see both of them.
And that's my day.
-
Cool, I think Peter and Skip are having lunch after your meeting.
-
I'll try greeting the day: Hello to the Day!
-
DR Kerry is a more adventurous man than I.
-
I think we should all pay visits to BK on our birthdays and get taken to the Smoke House.
-
Still more coffee!
Hey, they're small cups.

Lesson of the Day:
Never try to reason with a kangaroo.

I hope that lesson isn't foreshadowing anything the day has in store for me.

That kangaroo probably feels much like I do when I'm out in public on my cane, so I hope it's not an omen for my trek to 56th Street.

It is supposed to rain a lot here for Halloween. I really hope it lets up a bit at night.
-
Interesting stories re: your night DR George. I especially enjoyed the engagement and the autograph session.
-
DR Jane (and anyone else interested in books):
Yesterday I reviewed a book by one of my favorite new authors. It was an advanced copy that I got on netgalley (a site where bloggers/librarians/reviewers are allowed to review books that have not come out yet). Anyhow in my netgalley profile (as a way to try to make the publishers want to let me review their books) I said that I would put links to my reviews on twitter.
Anyhow I did tag the author. I don't normally do this but it's easier if anyone wants to check her out on twitter. So when I got home last night the author had tweeted that she read and liked my review of her book. That is so crazy to me.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! I've been to the
vampire's blood lab for a test that's about a week and a half overdue. Now I get to putter for a couple of hours before going to the library where my career began for this month's book discussion.
-
Hello, Day!
-
Good morning, all.
That's great news, Jennifer.
George, great stories about the concert.
-
Loved ancient Ethel from yesterday....I am always amused by exchanged between her and Walter Hyman in KID MILLIONS....he is reading the newspaper and says:
"Hey remember that guy you pretended to be married to in Atlantic City?"
"Yea...."
"Well....he's dead."
"I coulda told you that in Atlantic City."

Share the news with the neighborhood Page Two Dance. My dad couldn't go outside, so my sister took a picture and put them in front of the sign with Photo Shop.

Well, as I expected, and then forgot, the elevator was indeed still out of order when I got home. The three flights were bad enough without being physically challenged because they slope inward toward the first floor. The climb was not only an ordeal but I had to maintain my balance carrying a UPS package, a shopping bag, and a goddamned cane.

I'm glad you had the strength to do it.

Good morning. I watched a local police chase on the computer this morning. At one point they were about two miles from my house; at another point they were about a half mile from DR Kerry's house. They caught the bad guys, but not until a car accident, unfortunately.
-
I've been up since ten-thirty but just stayed in bed till it heated up a bit. I guess I got eight hours of sleep but it sure doesn't feel like it, since I was up every hour on the hour because I'd had way too much liquid. HATE that.

Greetings, All!
Been busy since I got back from Philly, with catch up biz and auditions, and it doesn't seem to be quieting any time soon. Not necessarily a bad thing either. Although, no one seems as busy as BK this week!
Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday. ;)
-
Everyone needs a sensor to let them know that their camshaft is in position. :P

What a busy and hectic day! I guess it beats the alternative.

DR elmore3003 - glad that you made it home (barely), safe & sound.
Well, safe, at any rate. :)

And now, without any further ado...

You know, I have been on HHW for I don't know how many millions of years, and I still have not figured out how to tell when the page is gonna turn.

But I do know how to do a Page Dance! And here it is for Page 3!

Each post is numbered. Number 29 is at the bottom of page 1. Number 30 is at the top of page 2.
Number 59 is at the bottom of page 2. Number 60 is at the top of page 3.
And so on, and so forth....30 posts to a page, but be aware that the first post on page 1 is not numbered (or can be considered as "0"). The second post is "Reply 1".

Thank you, DR Ron Pulliam. You would think I'd have figured that out on my own. Sometimes I just need a little help.
-
No sign of the effin elevator repairmen, which most likely means I will have another climb tomorrow after physical therapy. I've sent an email to my landlord, which I'm sure will do a great deal to see the repair is done. So, I cannot pick up my mail or take garbage to the basement. I am not amused.
-
Tell us more, DR Ron Pulliam! :)
Then, you divide five into 26. If it doesn't come out even, you must try again and again.

DR John, we have seen the new, and WONDERFUL season of "Foyle's War". Sadly there were only three episodes.

That may be more than I have time for these days. Got the Robbie Coltrane Cracker series from the library yesterday. I may have time to watch only one of those.

That's very nice the author responded. I'm also guessing it is a complimentary review or you wouldn't have tagged the author.
I'm on facebook with two authors, one whom is fun to be on with and carries on discussions with his FB friends. I've had several with him about Bernese Mountain Dogs.

Strange day at work. Long stretches of nothing, then everything happening all at once.

But at least the buttermilk pecan pie was good.

DR elmore I'm sorry there wasn't a neighbor for you to call and ask for help carrying your packages upstairs.
Have you an ETA when this will be repaired?

I have been laughing over the Fall Girl photo all afternoon. Some people think it's a dog, which makes me laugh even harder. (And, yes, I know I'm warped. But it has helped with the work day I've had.)

It was complimentary (4.5/5 stars). But I truly was not expecting her to read it. Even though I really liked it I was fairly critical about a few things. So that sort of made me wince knowing that she read it.

Elevator vibes!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I am going to watch Survivor. I sort of originally liked the idea of the loved ones being there with the past contestants. But I don't think it's really working out since most people are left without their loved ones. :(
-
I'm on facebook with two authors, one whom is fun to be on with and carries on discussions with his FB friends. I've had several with him about Bernese Mountain Dogs.
I follow a bunch of my favorite authors on facebook. A few only post updates. But there are a few who post daily. And some of the stuff is great. I absolutely love this aspect of facebook.
re: netgalley (site for reviewing books). I was on such a high before. This site really does take you on a roller coaster.
Probably my favorite author has a new book coming out in April. The book is on netgalley for Canadian reviewers only. I thought that helped my chances of being accepted (they accept or deny your request). Plus she's written like 25 books and I have read every single one of them. Well today I got rejected. And boy did that make me sad. It's silly. But you sort of get your hopes up that you will get to read a new series by your favorite author six months before it comes out.
:(

I used to be like that, getting disappointed if I had to wait for a new book by a favorite author, so I get it.

When I drove back to work from lunch, I could see the Capitol Blvd. Bridge (which goes over I-5) and there were emergency vehicles right underneath it! I don't know if a cop just pulled someone over and they just happened to stop there, or if someone jumped and landed on the freeway below. :-\

My niece can use some good vibes. If her unborn baby does not get into position by tomorrow, so they can induce labor, the doctor might do a c-section.
Correction, concerns forcing c-section are gone for now :)
Just need vibes she has this baby soon!!!

T.O.D.
Ask BK Day!
BK, have you ever met James Shigeta?
-
DR George I hope no one jumped. When we lived in Tiburon and Keith crossed the Golden Gate every day to and from work he would often call to say he was stuck in bridge traffic due to a jumper.
My cousin's wife lived in Tiburon before I ever knew her and worked for a news station. The first time I mentioned about Keith getting stuck in traffic she laughed, apologized and then said the office had lotteries on the next date there would be a jumper. Sad how often it happened that people actually bet on it.
-
I really love Goodreads. They just sent me an email regarding an upcoming Live Video Chat with Markus Zusak author of "The Book Thief". He will also be discussing the the movie adaptation. I've never done a live chat but this one I will try to do. I requested an email reminder the day before.
I watched part of a trailer for the movie and it looks good. I think they had to leave out the narrator though.

Good evening!
To catch up, I saw Sarah Brightman in concert on Monday night. She was phenomenal. She sang her weird stuff, as well as some opera - she knock "Nessun Dorma" out of the park - the best I ever heard. And she did "The Phantom of the Opera" as well as "Time to Say Goodbye". It was a audio as well as a visual feast as the projections going on behind her were fantastic.
-
Last night, I saw the National Tour of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. It's such a good time, a real piece of fluff and it would not be worth going over its flaws here, because it was such a well done production. The costumes were out of this world. If was a fun night of theatre - and that's about all.
-
This news about the author of The Book Thief would have been more appropriate for yesterday's TOD. This rates as one of my all time favorite WWII books.

I'm relieved that the issues causing concern are ok today and hope they don't return before the baby arrives.

My mom and I saw her perform in Seattle quite a few years ago and my mom didn't like her non-operatic stuff at all. She (my mom) loves Sarah when she sings operatically, but the "pop" music just doesn't interest her. I like most of the music that she's recorded (that I've heard).

Why that conjures a bad Irish accent, I don't know. There were rumors earlier of possible flash floods.
-
And I'm not getting my writing done.
-
Tap class was fun, but I had one week off (to see Merrily last Wednesday) and felt as if I had never had those shoes on in my life.
-
We can certainly move this along.
-
Because we must.
-
Five!
-
I feel so bad. My little niece just called me at 10:30pm crying. She threw up which means she can't go to her daycare Halloween party. :(
-
Back from a very good rehearsal. Good for me, anyhoo. :)

Birthin' a baby VIBES for DR Jane's DN!

Share the news with the neighborhood Page Two Dance. My dad couldn't go outside, so my sister took a picture and put them in front of the sign with Photo Shop.

A Very Happy Anniversary to JRand's Mom and Dad!! ;D

Car is HOME!
Replace Camshaft Position Sensor.
I didn't even know I HAD one!
$164.87!
Congrats! My car has been in the car hospital since Monday. Hope to see it again soon. I am driving a nice Ford Escape rental car. It is pretty darned cool. The sun roof goes over the back seat! It has this cool thing on the back up camera that shows you were the car will go based on how you are turning the steering wheel. Anyway, by the time I figure out all the buttons, my car will probably be ready

No sign of the effin elevator repairmen, which most likely means I will have another climb tomorrow after physical therapy. I've sent an email to my landlord, which I'm sure will do a great deal to see the repair is done. So, I cannot pick up my mail or take garbage to the basement. I am not amused.
If I was in NYC I'd get the mail for you and may even take the garbage to the basement for you. Alas! I am not there :)

This news about the author of The Book Thief would have been more appropriate for yesterday's TOD. This rates as one of my all time favorite WWII books.
I loved The Book Thief too and just saw a trailer for it yesterday
-
Although if I want to read it my library has it (The Book Thief).
READ IT!!
-
Read it!
-
Good night, all.
-
Good night, all.
Good night, John!
-
Did I miss vixmom?
-
Yeah, I guess so. It is almost one AM out there.
-
How could today have only been Wednesday? How many days are in this week??
-
I guess that means tomorrow is only Thursday.
-
What am I worried about? For me, every day is the weekend.
-
I have never met James Shigeta, which is also the title of my next novel.
-
Back from this evening's rehearsal. I have not gone into anything here, but I came very close to pulling the plug on the show this evening, mostly due to something that happened last night. But we're mushing on at least through the weekend, and at that point several things have to be in place for me to continue.

Yikes! Hopefully, it's all resolved and the show still happens!!

Tomorrow, we have our quasi-monthly staff meeting and since it's Halloween, some people will dress up in costumes. And I actually have a costume! Well, it's the "brain" that was created for Theater Artists Olympia's production of BK's very own The Brain From Planet X that I was in (I didn't play The Brain, though)! I'll wear all black clothes (I don't have a cape, like in BK's original production, but I did get some black gloves) and the brain helmet, and that's my costume! :D I don't have any make-up for my face, but that's okay.
I'll bring a camera and have someone take a picture tomorrow.
-
On Friday, TAO is having a "TAO OF THE DEAD CARN-EVIL" fund raiser and I'll wear the Brain costume for that. One of our board members is a professional make-up artist (she created the ear for our stage production of "Reservoir Dogs") and she said that she'll put some make-up on me for our fund raiser. I'll definitely take another picture of that!
-
Last night (actually, this morning), I woke up after only about three hours of sleep and couldn't get back to sleep. I finally nodded off and probably got another hour and a half of sleep. That's just too, too little sleep...even for me. :P
-
So, I'm off to bed...and NOW!
Good night, all. 8)
-
Because we must.
We must. We must. We must increase our bust.

Birthin' a baby
I don't know nuttin' 'bout birthin' babies!

Insomnia seems to be contagious here at HHW this evening/morning. That's why I'm here at this ungodly hour.

Well, they could say it. But they wouldn't be accurate.
