Good morning, all.

Weird night.  Went to bed at a decent hour, decently sleepy, fell asleep just fine.  Woke from some dream at 3:30 AM, nothing bad, feeling comfortable in the bed, didn't feel the need to visit the facilities or anything else ..... but I couldn't fall back to sleep.  Got up anyway, walked around, checked outside for snow (nothing yet at that time, and we only got a slight dusting later in the morning), took a drink of water, went back to bed, and laid there, awake.  Eventually got little bits of sleep, but nothing solid.  And it was truly one of those nights/mornings when nothing was bothering me or worrying me or making me uncomfortable.  The damned sleep just wouldn't come.  Well, it will later, in the form of a nice nap.  But sheesh.

Coffee!

Good morning, all! I am very bored. This was a "what's there to get up for" kind of day, so i stayed in bed until 9:30, bathed, and dressed, and I'm pondering what to do besides vacuum.  I have  small bit of Moross work, and that will be an hour out of my life, at most.

I'm happy that Sandy's show went well and the notes were fun. Lanny's supposed to be in New Yrk this week, and I'm hoping we can get together.

Great notes to wake up to!  I do so love a well told, comprehensive story like that.

And now, a third album to look forward to?  Excellent news!

If you live in the Sacramento area, I will be guesting live on Mary Jane Popp's radio show today at about 10am (PT), AM 950 KAHI.  The show is also syndicated nationally, so check your local listings.

And what a wonderful note and quote from Robert Deutsch.  I well remember that name from Stereophile back in the day.  I was an Absolute Sound devotee (still have all my issues, from the first to when they went to their crappy "mainstream format" in the mid-1990s), but also read Stereophile and the others.  And The Perfect Vision -- got my complete set of those, too.  Though I'm very much into "today's" technology, but not in quite the same way, I should at least keep up with what these people are writing now.

Don't know the show, but will look for it.  Is it broadcast only, or available on the web?  (That's probably a ridiculous question nowadays!)

DR JRand63, I'm a big fan of the NEW GIRL IN TOWN score, although it seems as appropriate for Anna Christie as a soprano in a barbershop quartet. I think when it's good, it's quite good, but there are a few numbers I'm not crazy about. I haven't listened to the recording in some time, but it's my memory that the orchestrations are quite nice. Bennett and Lang paired up on several shows - MY FAIR LADY, CAMELOT, REDHEAD are all I can think of - but their work together is really good.

The Irish Rep did NEW GIRL about three years ago. That's where I found Patrick Cummings, who's on the ROBERTA recording. They cut several od the "musical comedy" numbers and went back to Anna Christie for more book. It all seemed an odd fit, but i enjoyed it.

Tuesday afternoon greetings!  We've taken it easy this morning and will head out soon to do errands at the Drama Bookstore and the Belasco box office.  Eventually we'll make our way across town to the Episcopal Center where one of Richard's seminary classmates is being ordained priest late this afternoon.  That will be our "theatre" for today.

I remember when you wrote about this....sounds interesting, but of course on CD it's the musical comedy numbers that come off the best.

I have indeed accepted the role of Philoctetes in the Achilles/Achillies' Son to be produced in January at DePauw University.  I have many of the BEST lines in the show, and I am hoping it will be a fun process...at least it won't be as grim as THE CRUCIBLE was last year (although I did enjoy doing that show).

WOW - this new EZ EYES keyboard is great.  It has a very light touch, it is very quiet, and it is EZ to see.

Oh dear, there are many DON'T BUY THIS KEYBOARD messages on Google....not very many people are happy with it.  We shall see what happens with me.

BK, congrats on the success of Sandy's show last night. I was delighted and honored to be there at the big kid's table, and I had great fun catching up with Jessica and meeting her lovely daughter.

I could see all the wonderful BK touches in Sandy's show, and absolutely loved your song 'Simply". It was "Simply" marvelous.
I also loved "This Christmas" - so funny, and worked perfectly as her encore. My other favorite BK touch was the hint of "Cabaret" in her "Where or When".

Great night, great work! I was so happy to be there.

One set of liner notes done.  Will begin another when I'm back from rehearsal.  Now I have to go pick up packages and put gas in the motor car, then try to get to the bank.

I've said it before, but the greatest thing about Sandy is the joy in her voice.  It is in everything she sings.  She is very special.

I would love to see her in her cabaret act.  Maybe someday it can be video-recorded and released on DVD (or Blu-ray).

One can always hope. :)

Good evening, and in a few minutes, good night.  Hoping for a very solid sleep this time.

The new Jerry Lewis CD is wonderful.  So's OLIVER!  Didn't feel like getting through anything all the way through tonight, so listened to several tracks of the CD then watched a couple of scenes from OLIVER!  That's a film musical I kind of ignored over the years, but I believe its time has come for Yrs Truly.  Looking forward to a complete viewing soon.

Puttered the rest of the evening away checking out the new NAKED CITY complete series set, just enough to get an idea of what the episodes look like, especially the never-before-released ones.  Lots of great NYC location stuff there, as everyone knows, and of course some great guest stars such as Barbara Harris and Barbara Barrie in the two episodes I last looked at.  Many great evenings ahead with this set.

Things are getting interesting at work three long time employees. 13 years, 6 years & 3 years either left or about two leave. Two others are on final notice. (Both long time employees 14 years and 6 years) One is about to transfer to another store and then there's me. December 6 will make it 14 years.

They are making things difficult. The company wants to go in a different directions and it seems they want to get rid of their long standing employees so they can hire new people and "mold" them into their new vision.

The new manager is making things difficult for the people left. We are all treading of eggshells trying not to get written up that will allow them to terminate aka fire us.

I've decided to start looking for a new job and after 14 years with one company and the state of the economy it is a scary proposition. But I think it will look better for me to resign rather than being terminated. I know that Florida is a right to work state and I don't have to give them notice, but I will give them two weeks as I am sure that will look good with new employers.

It's a shame that they really want to get away from customer service and a get them in and out attitude. I've been chastised for spending too much time with someone.

Always sorry to hear about that kind of crap happening on any job, DR Mike.  Companies, stores, whatever -- they really love to shoot themselves in the foot.  Vibes you come out of this with what YOU want.

DR Mike, I went through something akin to what you are facing. What I can tell you is this: If they lay you off, you can get unemployment. You can't get that if you leave on your own.

Peace of mind is more valuable than unemployment, but the unemployment can be a help.

You may want to be direct with your supervisor and ask if they're trying to get rid of people such as yourself and see if there's an incentive from their part that would get you to leave, if that's what they really want. And if they don't want you to go, they'll tell you. If they hem and haw, be even more concerted in your efforts about looking for work elsewhere.

I wish you the best of luck with this.

I'm happy that Sandy's show went well and the notes were fun. Lanny's supposed to be in New Yrk this week, and I'm hoping we can get together.

Back from a longish rehearsal - one cast member showed up, said he had the flu, newly gotten about two hours prior, and then left to go home and rest - so we mushed on with our four cast members and I sang the other fellow's stuff from the audience.

Interesting.  What about Cindy Williams being featured at the top of the poster?  Do you know if they had different posters with each of you featured?
