FROM YESTERDAY:

DR GINNY mentioned yesterday that there was a whole page of substation at the Motown musical. Even though there are no "stars" I still think that's pretty awful. When I used to go to Broadway on a regular basis before I moved to Florida with all the shows I saw I rarely saw any substations and if there were any they were usually in minor roles. A "star" was never out. Today's work ethic on Broadway stinks and I also believe that today's singers do not probably know how to use their voices properly. Sure they can hit all the "money" notes to make the audience go crazy and hoot and holler (Hate this with a passion) but to do this 8 times a week and twice on matinee days they blow out their voices.

As for Motown the directors and producers choice their opening night cast with care and to have to see a page full of second choices is a shame.

FROM YESTERDAY

TCB mentioned all the CLASSIC CHRISTMAS ALBUMS. I believe the reason why they are considered "CLASSIC" which in my opinion do not follow the Webster's dictionary definition is that the singers have recorded more than one Christmas album and the "CLASSIC" is usually the first one they recorded.

I prefer the Classic Streisand because it has her 60's sound before she started producing. He sound was more pure without the overdone studio sound.

NOW FOR SOME GOOD NEWS.

A Facebook friend share this and I would like to share this here as well,

On this link you will here six songs with Karen Carpenter singing with only a bass and drum. Basically singing acapella. What a beautiful voice she had that even with all the overdubs used in the final releases couldn't obscure.

Last night, in a Sherman Brothers mood, I watched THE BOYS.  I'd seen it once before, but really paid it close attention this time.  The history is rich, and it's got some wrenching moments, to be sure.

Good morning, all!  I slept really badly last night; I don't know if it was the rush of adrenaline from laughing so much at the MIRNDA DVD or soe inner turmoil I haven't deciphered, but it was a looooong night of tossing, waking, fretting about sleep, ora combination, but the alarm rang at 8, and I decided to sleep in. At 9:30, i decided that wasn't going to happen and I am up, partially dressed, on my first cup of coffee, and fretting that I am almost out of milk.

DR TCB, yes, i was up past my bedtime. I turned off the lights around 12:15, which is two hours later than usual. I was reading BITCH IN A BONNET, and amusing myself to no end.

Today, no plans. I will watch some DVDs, putter about the apartment, and hope that my physical therapy referral is in tomorrow morning so that I can go there.

I'm getting irritated about this tv commercial stuff.  It was supposed to start running on Friday.  He sent me the vignette and the web ad, I sent corrections and never heard back.  I checked my email and even went back to the office to make sure I didn't miss anything  Now he's trying to tell me he sent me all of it on Friday and they are delaying showing anything until Tuesday because they didn't have my ok.   Since the show the vignettes are for is on Thursday, I'm not at all pleased as that is the package I really wanted.  I haven't signed an agreement for advertising after this promotion and I'm not paying for a week of advertising and getting 2 days.   Luckily I haven't signed a contract for anything after this. So, I may be looking to another tv station to do my advertising if this isn't resolved to my liking and soon

Well yesterday after several years of searching (and downloading and buying and trading) two songs from a collector in Australia have completed my collection (with one exception) of every song ever nominated for an Academy Award sung by the original artists. The majority are from the soundtracks and some are studio recordings by the original artists.

The one song I do not have is The Cat and The Canary from a "lost" film called Why Girls Leave Home. I was told that the only surviving copy is in The Library of Congress. I do have recordings sung by the composer, Ray Evans. and one by Johnny Mercer from a radio broadcast.

I will miss the adventure of tracking down these songs. It was fun

Then on Saturday I am going to watch my niece at her 2nd swim meet.  She will be swimming 4 races.  The week after she will have her first out of town swim meet 1 hour away.

From DR Jennifer:
Quote
I have the opposite problem.  I cannot keep up with my To Be Read list.

LOL I can't either, however, there wasn't anything available from my library and I had already purchased this at a good price.  There is an excellent chance the next book I read will be purchased at full eBook price.

I mean my actual TBR list of what I already own as e-books/books i already own/books my library already has.

I used to have stacks of books to read.  I try not to download too many at once when I'm paying for them.  I do have a few waiting to be read that were free but usually find something I'm more interested in.

I get mine when they are on sale on amazon.  So I have quite a lot of e-books that are regularly $10 that were only $1.99 that I really want to read.

I should remember to check B&N more often for books deals.

Yes, it was down again - I assume this all has to do with whatever the outage was this morning, but there is no way that it's acceptable for backup generators not to do their job until they fix their crap.  I left them the kind of BK message no one likes to get, and we're back so maybe it did some damn good.

Had a productive rehearsal and semi-tech.

At least one individual in our midst does not need to hear about backup generators not coming on and doing their job.   8)

Well, my salesman went to his office and I think he realizes that he didn't send the emails he claimed.  He's going to make it right and the price has already cut in at least half.  I'm feeling much better about it

I think the confusion came because he did send part of them to me, but not the revised version, so I couldn't give my ok.

I just lost a long post and now I have to contact them again because it's doing the same damn thing it did last time this happened - giving an error message.

Congrats, Ginny!

BK, when posting the message to Ginny, I just got the message, "The last posting from your IP was less than 5 seconds ago. Please try again later."  The problem is that I hadn't posted anything for 15 minutes. :-\

And the time stamp is again wonky for that post.

I love that my post is dated at  11:46 a.m. It is 6:57 p.m. Arizona time.

If your Time Stamp is off:
Go to your profile
Click on Look and Layout Preferences
Go to the "Time Offset" box.. "auto detect".
Click on “auto detect”
Click on “change profile” at the bottom of the page

I don't think that the "auto detect" option has anything to do with the time stamp problem.

It was fun

Congrats, Mike!  And Good Luck with finding the last song!!

Today, I went with my co-worker Jamie to see "The Weir" at Tacoma Little Theatre.  It was my second and Jamie's first time to see the show.  I enjoyed it as much as the first time and Jamie really enjoyed it, too.

Tacoma Little Theatre is where our very own TCB will be performing in "It's a Wonderful Life," which opens at the end of this month.

We will get the damn error message until they remember how they fixed it last time - I also told them to check the time stamp.  It's seven hours off on the thing I post the notes from - I had to manually change the date to today, so they have to fix that.  I'm quite sure I'll get a month or two of free service, but they have to find a data center that actually works, like what they had when I came there.
