Well, you've read the notes, the notes had phases one and two concurrently, and now it is time for you to post until the phase one and two cows come home.

Well, we're still up and running so maybe by saying November 20 at midnight they really mean Wednesday midnight - hard to tell so I may have to do the same thing tomorrow night.  Got two interesting screeners today - Gravity and Prisoners.

I still want to see "Gravity," but I don't really have any interest in "Prisoners."

I wish we'd known last night that the site would be sown until 4am, which was 7am on the East Coast. It took me overran hour to log on this morning, fem 7:45 to 8:45,  Well, here we are, and I hope we are now up fr some time!

Joshie called me last night at 9:00 to request that we postpone today's meeting, so we're now on for  Friday. Today, I have to tackle the laundry and I have to deal with a Citibank problem, since i've gt conflicting advice from two different telephone reps this morning and yesterday morning concerning a debit that should be credited back to my account.  If this jerk bank can't give the correct advice, how does one proceed?  Or keep tabs on what money is mine and what is not?

Good morning, all.

Glad to finally get in and see the explanation in the notes for what was going on.  Let's hope this maintenance helps the way it should.

More coffee!

Wednesday morning greetings!  I declared yesterday my official post-vacation "tired" day and postponed the grocery shopping to today.  So that's on my agenda, along with a banking errand and dinner and a behind-the-scenes tour of our local hospital with Richard this evening.

DR TCB asked last night if I'd posted my review of PIPPIN.  In all the whirlwind of getting to Artie's for our par-tay, I just sort of brushed over it.  It was amazing!  Unlike MOTOWN, all the principals were in and it's a such a thrill to see the original cast - except, of course, for Andrea Martin, who's been replaced by Tovah Feldshuh.  She was great and seemed to be having a lot of fun.  I loved the girl who played Catherine.  I seem to remember that in the '70s that role was just kind of "blah," but now the comedy seems broader and she played it to the hilt.  "Kind of Woman" is one of my favorite songs and I loved this interpretation.

The circus motif works so well.  Our friends Doug and Jon had alerted us to the "homage" to the original production and I recognized it right away.

Must get to Barnes & Noble for the CD!

I love great lyric writing. Here's an example from one of the barbecue blues songs from the 1930s, sung by Georgia White.

Fat meat is good meat
Don't take no back seat
Don't want no lean meat
Give me some fat meat.

So, I saw the National Tour of Evita last night.  I found it a bore, not to mention totally over choreographed - and not in a good way.  The dancing was a hot mess.  Luckily Che, Eva, Peron, and the mistress were all sung well.  It was obvious, the orchestra didn't have much rehearsal as they had 2 (almost 3) train wrecks - all recovered well eventually.

I don't like the staging of the revival at all.  I realize it's a good idea to do a fresh take on an old show, but they really missed the mark this time

Bummer. I loved the original Evita. Great stage images that I have carried with me for, what?, 30+ years.

I also loved the original Evita. Some of my friends could not abide Miss LuPone but there was something about her that made it work and I didn't have a problem with her diction.

This production, which came over from London and played Broadway last year is deficient in many ways. There were some good things about it (on Broadway) but not enough to save it. It was a huge hit in London which is one of the reasons they brought it over but something was lost in the move, much like Chitty, Chitty Bang Bang, I expect, which i saw in London and loved but here at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts/Hilton/Foxwoods/Lyric it just didn't work.

New study suggests that singing show tunes is a way of battling Alzheimer's.

The Guardian reports:

Over a four-month study, the mental performance of patients who took part in regular group singing sessions improved compared with others who just listened.

In the sessions, patients were led through familiar songs from The Sound of Music, Oklahoma, The Wizard of Oz and Pinocchio.

The sessions appeared to have the most striking effect on people with moderate to severe dementia, with patients scoring higher on cognitive and drawing tests, and also on a satisfaction-with-life questionnaire at the end of the study.

Jane Flinn, a neuroscientist at George Mason University in Virginia, said care homes that did not hold group singing sessions should consider them, because they were cheap, entertaining and beneficial for patients with Alzheimer's.

"Even when people are in the fairly advanced stages of dementia, when it is so advanced they are in a secure ward, singing sessions were still helpful. The message is: don't give up on these people. You need to be doing things that engage them, and singing is cheap, easy and engaging," she said.

Back from my errands and a HUGE grocery shopping.  It looked like some people were shopping today for Thanksgiving, but I was just replenishing the items we'd let run out before our week away.  I also went to Barnes & Noble for the PIPPIN recording and to the bank.

My bank errand was to inquire at my home branch about something I'd asked about at another one and didn't like the answer.  You see, on my October checking account statement they'd listed #1703 as #1763 (which was still in the box of checks in my desk drawer).  I thought they could just correct it electronically, but NO-O-O-O.  Five people now at 2 different branches have told me the only thing to do is VOID #1763 and not use it when I come to it.  I've had checking accounts for 45 years in 2 different states and had never seen this mistake and I think the "fix" makes it sound like it was my fault.

End of rant.

DR Elmore, I've now watched some of it, and unless it pays off in some wonderful unexpected way, I probably won't be finding it scary.  Atmospheric, yes.  And "so" 1970s.  Which is kind of fun.  But also, I'm not easy to scare.  Back in those years, yes, but a report from me in 2013 might not be of much help in that regard.

Use that check to make a bank payment.

LOL, DR JRand!

Today, I did the laundry and finally cleaned off my work table. My apartment is a complete mess at the moment but I have a spot of work and I need to get to it. In the next week, I hope to get this place in order and uncluttered.

Down again - I have just read these people the riot act and told them if they have to put us at a different data center on our own server where we will NEVER have a problem again that they'd better damn well do it and do it right now.  I said if this data center is so inept then they need to get away from there today.

The moron James C on the Castrecl, no matter how many times he gets in a huff and leaves, always comes back to continue to post nothing but idiocy. This got his panties in a bunch today:

We're all getting very tired of this - believe me.  We just have to be patient and they will get us somewhere where it can't happen again.  This time it was one of their servers that had a problem - when that happens, it's immediately supposed to divert all our traffic to a different server and accept no traffic until it's fixed - complete protection, only it kept accepting traffic when it shouldn't have - so that's why you can get in sometimes and then have something not work - instead of diverting to a working server, it stalls on the bad server.  They've restarted and are figuring out how to get us off that server until they figure it all out.

Well NO ONE at the Healthcare.gov site can tell me when my subsidy payment will be made to Anthem....they told me to call Anthem....I said if my payment hasn't been made, Anthem won't know me at all.....they insisted.

I called Anthem.....they never heard of me.....

So I don't know if my policy will be in force on January 1, or not.....

Nobody knows nothing.....

I hope they don't keep asking you for personal info like your SS and bank info.

I've done the all day sneezing thing a few times in the past month or so.  No idea why.  Well, allergy related, certainly.  But I don't recall this happening so much at this time of year.  Been better the past few days, and I hope it stays that way.  My nose was really raw for a couple of those days.

Thanks for all the positive comments about my commercials.  They'll start running tomorrow night.  I practiced the Spanish so many times.  I don't usually speak that well, but I'm trying to push myself to speak it more often and this will force me to do that.   I'm also trying to speak it on the phone to set consults or answer simple questions when Edith isnt' around.  I do still have her translate for all important info.  I don't want to make a mistake that could impact a case

Isn't it amazing, Elmore, that when you were going off to Toyland every day, your house was in good shape; but now that you have been forced to be home all the time the place is totally cluttered.

I keep thinking that after two years at home there should not be a single sheet of paper out of place.  Yeah, right!
