Well, you've read the notes, the notes were bacon-and-egg notes, and now it is time for you to post until the bacon-and-egg cows come home.

Today is going to be a day.  It's the last performance of the Theater Artists Olympia and Animal Fire Theatre co-production of "American Roulette."  I don't know how many people came to the performances this weekend so far, but the first two weekends weren't too bad.

After today's performance, I'll offer to help strike the set (which really isn't much, at all, so they may not need help...no, really...they might not ;)) and then we'll put it all away.

Good morning, all! I had a very interesting dream about New York, 1903, not exactly a time travel dream, but I seemed to be in both 2013 and 1903 at the same time. It was peculiar.

I will shortly head down for Toyland; I've got some Moross work to scan and convert to pdf files, some further corrections in the DEAREST ENEMY materials, and a bit of binding.

Good news on the first preview,BK!

Nice article, DR TCB!

DR cillaliz, send pie.

Good morning, all.

I hear (and see evidence of) a lot of strong winds out there today.  I imagine it's colder than a ... well, you know.  There are a few things it can be colder than, when it puts its mind to it.  Winds are, like, 20 mph gusting to 30 and even 40.  No idea why.  Who can explain it?  Who can tell you why?  Not me, surely.  And don't call me that.

Coffee!!

I envy DR John G.'s barbecue eatin' ways.  Oh how I envy them.  The times I've visited Texas -- and that's only been the Dallas area up to now, sorry to say -- but I really like Dallas -- I've only ever wanted to eat two things:  barbecue and Mexican.  And to sort of ketchup with yesterday's TOD, I love both Tex-Mex and the usual kinds of Mexican.  For that matter, I love both Texas barbecue and the other kinds of that, too.  But in barbecue, I do believe Texan is the most satisfying, hands down.

Last night's preview flubs, etc., can only mean tonight's will be much better, and I send great VIBES that it's a clear winner.

I'd be nervous about a week off, too, so let's hope this cast knows, or quickly learns, how to keep themselves in great shape.

BK:  Any chance of a li'l video or three sneaking themselves onto the ol' board here at some point?

Greetings from Toyland!

My taxi driver was a disappointment. Without telling me beforehand that he hated driving through Times Square so he drove out of his way to Fifth Avenue and down to 27th. I was not amused.

In my desperate efforts to give DR MBarnum some culchah, here's my baritone friend Nick Crawley in the current production of THE BARBER OF SEVILLE at the Nationale Reisopera in the Netherlands. This photo has now put Nick's name on the Barihunks list.

I did order another new watch on sale on Amazon.  Its really cool.  I love watches and decided to wrap it and  stick it under the tree with my name on it and not say anything and then act surprised.  I don't usually have as many gifts to unwrap as the others, which is fine, I don't have kids an grandkids, but I thought it might be fun to just stick a couple under the tree from the cats.

I like this  :)

I am hoping that today's rehearsal will not be quite the marathon that yesterday's rehearsal turned out to be.  The theater provided pizza and salad for us around 3:30, so I guess they figured they had paid us for the entire day.  Also, since they are giving us all of Thanksgiving Day off, I guess they need to work us to death before that day.

DR Jennifer it seems odd to me the swimmers don't compete against each other at the same time.  I'm glad you find it interesting since you are the one watching ;)

From your response I'm not sure if I explained it properly.

The swimmers are competing against other swimmers, with comparable times. Only the boys and girls are mixed together (swimming against each other).  Also since these are the first meets sometimes the seed times  (times the coaches send as the swimmers times) are not accurate (for instance they put my niece at 33 seconds for butterfly when her race time was 24 seconds).

What I meant by "they don't swim against each other" is that say for example for butterfly. There were 25 heats.  If you race in heat 22 and are the fastest they still have to compare your time to the other 25 heats. So sometimes there are kids in your heat who are not that great.  Or sometimes you could win your heat, yet there could be 10 people faster than you in the other heats.

In summer swimming you know right away if you win or not. It is girls vs girls only. Coaches decide which are there fastest swimmers to put in the first heat.

It actually wasn't that interesting to watch yesterday except for when my niece was swimming.

Some friends of mine will be coming into town soon, but they're not the sort who plan ahead and I never know just when they're coming. Once they called and said they'd be here in two hours and would like to take me to lunch. Nice idea, but I had scheduled a visit from the gas company to check out the heater and had to stick around. They bought lunch and brought it here. I have a couple things on my calendar which I'd rather not change, so I hope it works out smoothly.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Bk, I'm very glad to hear the preview went well. And no doubt, the tweaks you make will be wonderful.

I'm off tonight to see my friend, Gordon Goodman, in "Barrymore" here in L.A. Gordon and I did INTO THE WOODS with Leslie Uggams some years back (he as Cindy's prince, I as the Baker), and we just worked together again this year in PARADE.  He's a perfect Barrymore.

And now back to our regularly scheduled laundry day. Hi ho, the glamorous life...   :P

I am so proud of niece. They just posted the meet results. 88 girls swam.

She got 2nd place for front crawl streamline (put your arms in front of your head and kick), 11th for butterfly, 6th for Individual Medley (one fly, one back, one breast and one free). And for her least favorite stroke (which she thinks she is bad at but is improving a lot) breast stroke she got 29th place. Yeah!

Yeah!

Congratulations!

Forgot to mention it yesterday, but I loved the song lineup for the Christmas Kritzerland show. Would love a CD of that one.

Started watching "A Perfect World." Good cast, but it could probably stand to lose 15 minutes out of the first 40.

The more e-books I read the more I realize I love reading on my kindle. So convenient.

I have the paperback of "The Little Prince" sitting here to read for my book group.  The print is very light and not easy to read so I have been putting off reading it.  The book is free from my library and my only other option is to purchase an eBook.  I'll read it next week.

I love The Little Prince!

Well I did various and sundry chores and spent the afternoon at flute choir rehearsal...so tonight I have bookwork to do for the office.  It's my least favorite part of the practice, but if I spend a couple hours on it, I should have it done.

I tried to be a considerate  audience member sucked cough drops (wrapped in paper not cellophane) and tried to time my coughing to coincide with the applause

Finishing up "A Perfect World" after doing an hour of house cleaning. I think I'm going to have to set aside an hour each day this week. Just to get started. Force myself to do it.

Today is going to be a day.  It's the last performance of the Theater Artists Olympia and Animal Fire Theatre co-production of "American Roulette."  I don't know how many people came to the performances this weekend so far, but the first two weekends weren't too bad.

After today's performance, I'll offer to help strike the set (which really isn't much, at all, so they may not need help...no, really...they might not ;) ) and then we'll put it all away.

Well, I wasn't needed for the strike.  I just grabbed the money and ran (it's okay, I'm the TAO treasurer).  We had a pretty good crowd today, more than 30 people and they really did enjoy the show.  It was a good ending.  It would've been nice to have had larger audiences, but those who did come to see it really liked it.

Thanks for the comments on the Broadway World article.  I had to give the theater permission to go with the cripple comeback story.  We will probably sell out the run anyway, but I figured I might as well help the only way I could.

I'd better get my ticket soon then!

But maybe demand will now be enough that they can charge premium like New York theater does.

I hope DR George is still sleeping.

Nope...I actually was up at this time, quickly getting ready to get to the theater.  I got a call from someone who had a flex pass and wanted to reserve a seat for today's show.  TAO's flex pass is a ticket that's good for admission to any show up to four times.  You could use it for four tickets to one show or one ticket each to four shows, or any combination.  I didn't know that my phone number was on the flex pass ticket.  I'll have to bring that up at the next board meeting.

Back from our second preview, and then a bite to eat, my first of the day.  Full house, but a completely weird group who simply would not laugh - I mean, the laughs are so surefire and consistent in this show it's amazing, but not for this group - they enjoyed it, we had great applause, but they just would not laugh.  Then Kay and I had a notes session with the artistic director, which was interesting, because several of her notes based on comments she's gotten mean that if I address them we'll be doing what I originally wanted to do but was talked out of, i.e. putting in an intermission, which I always wanted, which would put the one song that feels like it's in a weird place back where it originally was.  The other change will be putting back the opening the way I originally wanted it, and that will help a lot.  But we'll also be restaging the opening number to simplify it - for whatever reasons, despite the fun staging by Kay, the cast just looks mechanical doing it and it's hurting the number and getting the audience to enter our world - so it will be much less and we'll just have a little movement and let the cast just concentrate on singing the song and doing the harmonies well.  But basically, the show is working structurally, at least it is for me.
