Well, you've read the notes, the notes gave you a splitting headache, and now it is time for you to post until the splitting cows come home.

Good morning, all! I set the alarm for 6:30, but I guess I didn't turn the alarm to ON because I awoke at 7:19. Damn! So, I'm running around like mad to get out of here by 8:30. Bacause of the OPS mess, I need to go back to Toyland this morning and take the delivery from the office that accepted it yesterday.

I'm a bit concerned because neither my health insurance check nor my rent check have cleared yet. If there's one thing I do not want, it's to walk to my insurance office, which is at the bottom of the lower east side and an awkward walk for me now, to give them a new check on Friday.  I'll call them in a bit and check.

I also had good news about some other possible work. Nothing definite, possible.

DR TCB, how did I miss that other great review, Old Timer?

Good morning. I've had a few very busy days. Fun, though.
Title: Re: THE SPLITTING HEADACHE
Post by: elmore3003 on December 04, 2013, 07:18:06 AM
I left 30 minutes earlier, waited forever for a 104 bus with two older ladies, and when it pulled up, this young asshole father with his elementary school kid suddenly showed up and walked onto the bus with the kid: screw the old folks. I hate these shits.

Then I got to Columbus Circle to transfer to the No 7 bus and ended up sitting in the infirm seats next to a poor very old man with several lesions and a gross growth on the top of his bald head like he'd pulled the skin up into a bun. Every time the door opened and thew wind blew past him, I got a good whiff of bed pans and other outrageously bad odors. Some days, when the omens are saying, don't do it, you shouldn't do it.

So, Greetings from Toyland! The UPS driver who did not deliver the carton on Monday ignored the instruction on the carton to leave it next door, I've now called UPS to complain.

I can go home very soon, and that news thrills me.

Well, I rebooted just now, and it's running again. Oy!

Oy!  Sorry not to be there to help with that crap today, DR Elmore!

What is frustrating is that the people I work with go off on their own tangents and forget I'm around cleaning up things at Toyland until they come back to work and want to take control. It's not always easy here.

My question for ASK BK Day.

I was watching the Partridge Family clip that you posted on FB last Thursday.....particularly your scene with Miss Shirley Jones.....and your back and forth conversation....

Was there a Master Shot Done for that scene or was it all single shots and over the shoulder for you both?

Ironically, I believe the other good review "the nuanced performance" or whatever it said was written following the opening night performance.

The front porch is festooned with lighted evergreen garlands (artificial) and red bows and each front window has a candle light.  Resting a bit before I unload the dishwasher.  When Richard gets home from cardiac rehab, we're going to get out the Christmas dishes.  Lunch on paper plates today!

My surprise premium for contributing to BC/EFA after PIPPIN was a copy of this year's CAROLS FOR A CURE.  NEWSIES' contribution is "Take Me to Manhattan in December," written and performed by cast member Julie Foldesi.  It made me smile when I first heard it in the car yesterday and it made Richard smile when I played it for him as soon as I got home.

My copy of Mamie Van Doren's movie THE CANDIDATE has still not arrived. Maybe today.

In other Mamie Van Doren news, the next set from MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATRE will contain Mamie's film UNTAMED YOUTH! Have seen the movie, but never the MST version.

Also, it will have the MST version of THE THING THAT COULDN'T DIE...one of my all time favorite MST episodes!

Things bode ill with getting the CHRISTMAS UP THE HOLLER gang together for a reading this December. Nothing's settled yet, but I think the offer may have come too late for us to pull it off well.

And i am home. Nice bus ride and the driver was the same I had yesterday. I even sat in the same "seat for the infirm."

At Toyland, I printed out all the pages I need for two more ROBERTA vocal scores. Thank God the printer finally got over its hump.

If you have a download link on the YOUTUBE video DR GINNY - you can download it and then depending on the file....burn it to DVD.

I think REAL PLAYER allows you to download the videos.  Sometimes I can do it, but I have to convert it to AVI file in order to burn it.

Keep your noses and tootsies warm.

And wear your rubbers.

My niece is obsessed with this bracelet making craze called Rainbow Loom.  She showed one in class during a presentation. And the next day half her classmates asked if she could make them one.  I think she's had like 20 orders.

She made me one and it's so pretty.

I did, and it was quite amusing. I also watched their Christmas video that had the puppet.

I had some soup and a sandwich for lunch, picked up a couple of packages, but not several overdue ones, and now I'm home - I will never again do three releases at once - EVER.  I don't know how other labels do five or six huge releases on one day - this is almost killing me as it is.  I've been working on it all day again.  Plus we're having a big Kritzerland Christmas sale with about twenty titles going on sale.

I left 30 minutes earlier, waited forever for a 104 bus with two older ladies, and when it pulled up, this young asshole father with his elementary school kid suddenly showed up and walked onto the bus with the kid: screw the old folks. I hate these shits.

I'm curious but do you ever, as politely as possible under the circumstances, every say something such as "excuse me, not only were we first but can't you see I'm old and disabled"?

I always stick up for my first-come, first-served rights.   I think some young parents are under the misguided notion that if they have young children, they have ultimate right-of-way.  Someone needs to correct their rude behavior...in a nice way, if possible.

On the other hand, does AARP have benefits I might want or need?

If you remember to use it there are discounts to various places, you just have to remember which places.  I use it for hotel discounts that pay for the cost of membership.

It says 8 on the box.  I think 8 is about right. You need to be able to focus. The patterns are quite intricate. It is hugely popular here now.

Thanks for the link to the story DR CILLA LIZ....keep us posted....  And I agree that it sounds like your friend has a very good case.

It's too bad that 40 doesn't realize how quickly 60 will come....but the ambitious lady is setting herself up for a precipitous fall....

It wasn't as good a day for my friend today as yesterday was, but I'm not so sure the "judge" came across very well to the jury.  I was there in the morning and she seemed to be exaggerating and was quite defensive.  But who knows what a jury thinks.  The reprimand included such awful offenses as calendaring a deadline on April 26th when it was really April 30th.   It also includes leaving at 4:45 instead of 5:00 even though she had been at work since 6:30 am   It all seemed very trivial when there was no testimony her work was not up to par and a lot of testimony that she did a great job

Saw it on the big screen a few years back and loved it. Hope you enjoy.

It was well worth seeing.  This theater does very well in the projection department.  But what I always end up telling one of the managers is that for these vintage films, they need to crank the volume.  You sit through the usual trailers, etc., all played at a typical volume for stuff nowadays, then the Paramount VistaVision fanfare starts up, sounding like it's in the next room.  And this film is (always surprising to me) center speaker mono, so it just seems so puny until your ears adapt to it.  But adapt they did, and the audience of (count 'em!) twelve (12) loved every minute of it.

When I got home I threw my Blu-ray in just to compare whatever I could with what I'd just seen, and it really is beautiful.  And the audio was way more satisfying, both on the mono and the (simulated?) 5.1 stereo.  I think simulated, because even original stereo prints were that "Perspecta" thing which I believe was sort of an operator-manipulated mono.
