Top of the morning, everyone!

Congrats on getting to do Lil' Abner! I've never seen a production, but there's a lot in the score (and the source material) that I enjoy greatly.

TOD:
In the DVD drive: season 3 of "Quantum Leap." On deck: season 7 of "Psych"
Ye olde iPod: A dozen lectures on Jewish mysticism
On the nightstand: "Steel Seraglio" by Mike, Linda, & Louise Carey - Very well-crafted story by one of my favorite writers and his family
YouTube playlist: a whole bunch of Jonathan Coulton/Paul & Storm songs

Since Stupefyin' Jones is essential a cameo how about Julie Newmar?

Good morning, all! I hoped to be up at 7:00, but around 3am, I was really sick, so I slept in. I'm feeling much better so I'll shortly head to the laundromat.

My weekend may include a trip to Toyland, but I'll mostly be sitting here working on my Encores! project.

I am very excited about LI'L ABNER, since BK and I have talked about doing it for several years. I hope it's a huge success for him and the school. I loved working with him and them on THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X, and i have a really good vibe about BK's work on this one.

Julie Newmar repeated her role as Stupefyin' Jones in the sad Encores! production, and she was no longer sexy nor stupefying'; it was sad and rather scary.

No birthdays today? This has been a huge birthday week, and my digits are itching to post a birthday greeting.

Enjoyed David Letterman's joke that it's tough being Carrie Underwood, because among othe things, she's also Kelly Clarkson.

Like so many people. I get Clarkson and Underwood confused.  Their choice of songs couldn;t be more different, but it's a common error.

There's someone out there who doesn't?

"She Loves Me" is one of my all-time favorites. Back "In Days Gone By," I used to croak out "Tonight at Eight" at some of the less-reputable piano bars in the city (some of them being better-reputable before I became a regular, but that's-another-story-never-mind).

Thank you DR Vixmom.  We only had a little rain and I was able to make my appointment.  I also got my glasses fixed though they seem wrong again.  I think the silcone guards are bigger than the last ones, at least it feels that way.  I now have to get used to my glasses resting on my face different  ::)

I also picked up my beautiful birthday flowers from Craig.

After I was done with my doctor's appointment I had to wait another 40 minutes for Keith to pick me up since he was at the gym.  It was frustrating not to go for a walk but it isn't work risking a fall on the ice.  Driving through town it was amazing how many places weren't shoveled or they were shoveling today.

This was posted on FB (so it MUST be posted here, too), our very own Elmore is mentioned in an article on Playbill.com!  On Page 3 of THIS (http://www.playbill.com/features/article/185302-THE-BOOK-SHELF-Fosse-West-End-Broadway-Mama-Roses-Turn-and-The-Golden-Apple/pg3) article, it says this:

Quote
(http://www.playbill.com/images/photo/a/p/apple_1386363354.jpg)
On the printed music front, here's something extra special. At last month's Columbia University celebration of the Centennial of composer Jerome Moross, I discovered that Alfred Music published a complete vocal score of The Golden Apple (http://www.playbillvault.com/Show/Detail/917/The-Golden-Apple) several years back. I quickly got myself a copy and have spent the last week at the keyboard in Olympian splendor. (Mt. Olympus in Washington State, that is.) The Golden Apple, in case it has passed you by, is a one-of-a-kind musical comedy by Moross (1913-83) and John Latouche (1914-56), resetting the Odyssey in Washington circa 1900; Odysseus and his men are just home from the Spanish-American War. ("Oh Theodore/Oh Theodore/the Roosevelt that we adore" sing the soldiers, in six-part harmony.)

The show opened at the Phoenix Theatre in 1954, transferred up to the Alvin, and easily picked up that season's New York Drama Critics Circle Award. The score is inventive beyond bounds; it is regularly overlooked, in part because of an original cast album which captured much of the show but presented it in truncated fashion laced with narration. (The one standard to emerge was the languid "Lazy Afternoon.") I feel optimistic, though, that The Golden Apple will resurface in full glory over the next several years. As for the vocal score, it is much appreciated. For many years, the music was available only in an unwieldy, handwritten rental score that was in places indecipherable. The new edition, edited and carefully corrected by Larry Moore, is clear, clean and playable, all 538 pages of it. (The original Porgy and Bess vocal score runs 559.)

Very nice, Larry!! :D

(That's another score I had to replace.  Porgy and Bess.  How in the HELL that one went missing is anyone's guess.)

That sounds wonderful, DR Elmore.  And congrats on the nice mention.  Wow, something else to look forward to seeing/hearing someday.

Around 4:30 I accidentally cut myself badly and i could not get the bleeding to stop. Around 5:30, I figured it wash;t going to stop and I hailed a taxi and headed to the St Lukes ER at 114th and Amsterdam. I was seen by a beautiful Indian Dr Nyack - that's not the correct spelling but that's how it's pronounced - around 6:30 who told me to apply pressure to the gauze pad over the wound for 20 minutes.

30 minutes later it was still bleeding profusely, so she came back with supplies and ditched the wound. I go back in 5 days to have the stitches removed.

I was home by 7:50, and my Britcoms aren't on tonight! I'll watch some fund raiser until 9:00, then GRIMM.

DR George, you should be my agent!

ABC Nightly News with Diane Sawyer is naming Richard Sherman as their person of the week. And not the one who plays football for the Seattle Seahawks.

Hmmm, maybe we will record it.  I doubt Keith is interested but we could watch a wee bit of it.

UGG!!  I've been working on evaluations.  I've done three (over the last couple of days) and have two to go.  I'm not very good at them, but I'm getting them done...slowly.  I'll continue on Monday.

But I'm curious about Nebraska. Always liked Bruce Dern.

Tomorrow, I'm working concessions for one of two different productions of "The Nutcracker" that are happening in Olympia.  I'm actually working both the matinee and evening shows of one production.

In between the shows, I'm going to my sister's.  She and her boyfriend are getting her a Christmas tree and will need my help to get it out of his car.  She has tall ceilings, so she gets a big tree.  Hopefully, I won't get sap all over my clothes because I have to go back to the theater.
