I think this Monday would be a good day to send out GOOD VIBES for everybody for all sorts of things. Just because.
-
Good morning, all! I got to bed later than IK liked but I slept well. I suspect I will nap a bit when I get home from therapy.
I have nothing much to report. Before I leave this morning, I'll pay a few bills and prepare the day's Encores! work. I have nothing else on the calendar, so that's good.
-
TOD:
AND THEN THERE WERE NONE
MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS
DEATH ON THE NILE
-
Today is the 238th birthday of Jane Austen. Like Flora Poste, i would like to write a novel as good as Persuasion.

Feel better vibes for DR TCB!!!!!!!!!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ditto!
-
Morning, everybody!
TOD: Would you believe, I don't think I've every read or seen a single Agatha Christie book/play/movie? Must rectify that deplorable situation someday...
-
Country legend Ray Price was eulogized yesterday after his son posted that the singer had died. Turns out Ray is still with us. Probably not for long, but he's still alive.

And the word of the day is: DESCANT!
And The Song Of The Day Is: AN OLD FASHIONED WEDDING
-
Good grief, I missed DR ChasSmith's birthday yesterday!!! So here I am to make up for it...
Hope it was a wonderful birthday Charles, and might I add that I am so glad you joined HHW; you are one swell guy!

I had quite a case of the blahs yesterday and feelu up to doing much other than watch part of a fairly bad movie called THE YOUNG SWINGERS (starring Rod Lauren and Molly Bee) and multiple episodes of JULIA.
I hate having days like that. I had really planned to get a lot done this weekend, but I didn't.
-
Thanks DR KERRY - I will take them.
-
Our script was only available electronically yesterday because it is being revised and rewritten.....we were told once again not to memorize yet....more changes are coming....so we shall see.
It's a nice group....only one participant from THE CRUCIBLE last year, so it's a lot of new names to remember. We have many Asian cast members some of whom struggle a bit with English, but I think once they know the lines (and the names of the characters) it will be easier for them.
-
I don't think I have read an Agatha Christie novel or play that I did NOT like....all very interesting and entertaining.
Favorite movies:
EVIL UNDER THE SUN
TEN LITTLE INDIANS (1964 version)
-
RE: yesterday's discussion of homework and classes; it seems to me that there is more homework now than when I was in school. Of course that might just be that my school was different, or I didn't bother much with homework. I was not the best student...in fact when I look back at my report cards I am shocked at some of the grades that I got.
Like BK, and others here, I had no interest in math or science and thus I was not good at either. I took one semester of Algebra, then switched to business math. Fortunately for me, math was not a requirement in Junior or Senior years at my school.
I took biology, but remember little about it, other than dissecting a frog.
-
TOD:
I own, but have not read any Agatha Christie novels, but all movies that I have seen which were based on Agatha Chistie stories I have loved.
AND THEN THERE WERE NONE (1945) and the Bollywood version titled GUMNAAM (1965) are my two favorites.
-
And I am home from physical therapy. To work!

Good
morn afternoon, all.
Back from the high school where it feels like I've been since I awoke at 5:15. And what a long morning it was. Cold, too, in their auditorium. A few hours of rest, then back this evening for a concert.
-
Thank you, DR Cillaliz, for the birthday greetings last night!
-
Boy, I did the right thing getting to bed early. Fortunately, I was dead tired and fell asleep without much delay at all. More importantly, I STAYED asleep till the clock radio and cell phone went off within half a minute of each other.

Monday afternoon greetings! After the previous night's insomnia I crashed early last night and slept almost 12 hours. Richard and I just finished putting about a gazillion ornaments on our Christmas tree.
-
Christmas Concert vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.

Why am I suddenly thinking of soft serve? :)

Christmas Concert vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.
DITTO! :)
-
Richard and I just finished putting about a gazillion ornaments on our Christmas tree.
I think we need photographic evidence. :D
-
Very interesting . . . a singer whose album I once scored for a combo of around eight players asked me a couple of times in the past about enlarging the orchestrations for full orchestra. Both times I gave him a similar budget, and then I never heard a thing further from him.
I just now on FB saw a photo of him performing one of the numbers from the recording with a full orchestra. Hmmm ...

It's on my Facebook page and I'll put it here when I'm at my computer.
-
I've always suspected he found someone cheaper to expand the orchestrations.
-
Oy! and damnation.
What you gotta wonder is: how MUCH cheaper?
-
Nice pic of DR's TCB & George. I'm glad there was a camera yesterday.
-
Back from a chili, cheese and onion omelet - sitting at the booth next to me - Dick Gautier, second time it's happened and this time I introduced myself and told him we had tons of mutual friends. He's very nice.
-
DR Jennifer I'm happy you had room to maneuver your car away from the idiot yesterday.
-
From DR Vixmom:
well the tree is lit - all the boxes were pulled out of the crawl space - a job that gets harder every year
My decorations are covered with so much junk I can't even reach them.
-
From DR TCB:
This woman came up to me after the show. She said that she loves the movie version of IAWL, and she watches it faithfully every year. And she said she thought I was better than Lionel Barrymore. I don't know about that, but it was a very nice thing for her to say
.
Extremely nice. I hope that eased some of the pain you have been dealing with.
VIBES YOU FEEL BETTER SOON!!!!!

;D Cute.
-
DR elmore how is your leg healing? Does it hurt less than that first night after you cut it?
-
Wow, Dick Gautier: Birdie and Robin Hood rolled into one!
-
DR ChasSmith, wishing you a fun time at your Christmas Concert!
-
We should lookup Dick Gautier's Facebook page and see if he posted about meeting Bruce Kimmel at lunch today.
-
Lunch With Dick Gautier is the title of my new One-Act Play.
-
Tonight on ME Tv at 11:30 p.m. EST, one of the Perry Mason episodes featuring Miss Allison Hayes is on....The Case of the Captain's Coins.
She doesn't have much to do in this one, but she slinks around in a couple of nice outfits that probably came from Frederick's of Hollywood.
-
DR elmore how is your leg healing? Does it hurt less than that first night after you cut it?
It was the stitches that hurt. Haven't bothered me since then.

-
Thanks, DR Ginny - it is lovely! :)
-
I count at least one zillion. 8)
-
Lovely DR Ginny.
I have spent the last hour placing an order with Zingerman's. I normally just call and wish I had done so this time the website is soooooooooooooooooooo darn slow.
-
You're tree is so nicely decorated, DR Ginny!
-
Thank you, DRs Singdaw, Jane, and KevinH!
-
Well, things are looking up for the month of January; I just got a commission from the Cincinnati Men's Chorus. It's nice to know that I may survive the winter and financial crunch of the past five months..
DR Ginny, if one of those lights goes out, does the whole tree go dark?
-
DR Elmore, congratulations on the commission! Does it mean a trip to Cinninnati?
As for the lights, no. It's 3 separate strands and each one is in sections. At worst a section would go out and we have some replacement bulbs.
-
My early memories of Christmas tree lights are one light going out and taking the whole string with them. It drove my mother crazy. She and my dad would bitch at each other while they tried to find the bad light. Oy!
DR Ginny, perhaps there will be a trip. It's for their concert the last weekend in March. I'd like to come in a couple of weeks before the concert to hear it and fix things.
-

THANK GOODNESS AND CONGRATULATIONS!!!

They used to work that way-very annoying.
-
Laundry is done I should go read. Funny how a 400 page book only took me a couple of days while my current, short book, hasn't been read in the same amount of time.
I'm reading A CHRISTMAS CAROL to try and get into the Christmas spirit. All I seem to do is say Humbug.
-
What is this page three malarky?
-
Had the meeting in Pasadena - I was petrified of traffic coming home as I didn't get on the freeway until four-thirty, but much to my surprise and delight, there was no traffic at all all the way home.
-
But I just don't have the energy to leave again and drive all the way to West LA for the Twilight Time party - I won't know that many people and I'm really not that fond of those sorts of things. Besides, The Wolf of Wall Street arrived today in the form of a screener and I really want to watch that.
-
For now, I'm finishing The Mirror Crack'd.
-
DR Jennifer I'm happy you had room to maneuver your car away from the idiot yesterday.
Wasn't me driving thank goodness. I really dislike driving during a snowstorm or when there has just been one. I don't even like being in the car. But had no choice in this instance. I am not liking winter so far. So cold. And so much snow.
-

Wow!
-
Great news, Elmore, on your feeling better and on the Cincinnati commission.
-
Let's move this on.
-
Four!
-
Had a nice plate of fried oysters tonight before an OK plate of Asian noodles for dinner. Why is it that when you get assigned to write about Asian noodles, all of your favorite places start to serve average or lousy dishes?
-
Starting to watch a film noir from Nicholas Ray called "They Live by Night" with Farley Granger and Howard Da Silva. Really gruesome beginning. Should be fun.
-
Back to writing.
-
I had to respond to a long email with Keith's aunt so I didn't get to read. She suggested a number of books to read and they were all on my wish list-lol
-
So far this year I have read 154 1/2 books.
-
Next year my personal challenge will to sleep more and read less.
-
'night
-
Good for you, DR Jane! Quite impressive.
-
Native Minnesota wild rice was a component of my dinner this evening. Delicious!
-
I noticed that with my latest Kindle software update, Goodreads has become a native part of the operating system.
-
Good evening. I was out the door before sunrise again today.
-
Next year my personal challenge will to sleep more and read less.
LOL!!!
-
Good evening. don't know a whole lot today. I finally put my demand letter together for the insurance company from the accident. I should probably have done it a couple weeks ago, I do know that the adjusters like to resolve things by the end of the year, so hopefully I can get this wrapped up in the next couple weeks
-
Oh wow! Molly Bee. THE CHARTROOSE CABOOSE!
-
Goodness! Where is everyone?
-
I'm here. Thinking about starting my shopping tomorrow. I'm really not in the mood for it...bah humbug
-
I agree, Cillaliz. Thankfully, most of it is purchased already.
-
I've always suspected he found someone cheaper to expand the orchestrations.
Is that legal?
-
Watching The Wolf of Wall Street - I shan't comment yet other than to say it's typical Scorsese and that's not necessarily a good thing.
-
As "They Live By Night" nears its end, I realize that this is the same story as Robert Altman's "Thieves Like Us," only told fairly differently. It's apparently Nicholas Ray's first movie and it's a beauty.
-
Good night, all.
-
Per DR Singdaw's request - this is the view from my recliner:

Wow!
-
That's one HECK of a lot of ornaments, DR Ginny.
-
Congratulations on the commission from Cincinnatuh, DR Elmore!
-
Great tree, Ginny!
-
Lovely photo from last night, DR George - thanks for bringing your camera! :)
Thanks! I wish it hadn't been so dark, but I'm glad it was good enough.
-

Come on guys, we need a frenzy!!

Fa la la la la la la la la

What would you do if you won the mega millions lottery?
-
A very happy birthday dr ChasSmith ;D
(late again) :)

I would gladly drive from here to West L. A. to avoid watching THE WOLF OF WALL STREET.
-
Starting to watch a film noir from Nicholas Ray called "They Live by Night" with Farley Granger and Howard Da Silva. Really gruesome beginning. Should be fun.
I like that movie.
-
i'll never win the lottery, any lottery, it's not in the cards for me :'(

Where do you have your wishlist?
-
Oh I never even get one number right....but heck, I'll waste a dollar on a chance for a 1/2 billion
-
Good night everyone.
Sweet dreams.
Mega vibes for everyone.
Mega vibes for all your wishes to come true.
;)
-
:)
-
I would open a cattery. There are no shelters around here for cats well other than the city pound and the humane society, but none that really serve as a rescue center. With that much I could get a good staff and have Jackson Galaxy appear for the opening.
-
Native Minnesota wild rice was a component of my dinner this evening. Delicious!
Would that be your famous Rice A Roni Wild Rice?
-
A very happy birthday dr ChasSmith ;D
(late again) :)
Thanks, DR Sam!
-
I supposed I should get some sleep. I have a busy day tomorrow....much to do.
-
What would you do if you won the mega millions lottery?
I would make a lot of charities happy. And buy a place in NYC.

Very nice, Ginny!

Great news, Larry! Congrats!!
-
What would you do if you won the mega millions lottery?
I would make a lot of charities happy. And buy a place in NYC.
My place in New York would have to have at least 3 bedrooms and two baths, so that people would have a place to stay.
-

Crap! I forgot that I wanted to do a little laundry tonight. Actually, it's not really that late, so I can get something started.
-
Let's kick this over to page six, George, so I can go to bed.
-
What would you do if you won the mega millions lottery?
Pay to fly all the HHW regulars to California to see BK's show! :D
-
Let's kick this over to page six, George, so I can go to bed.
If I must...but I noticed that you have abandoned the effort.
;)
-
Topic of the Day: I can't remember if I've watched a whole Agatha Christie movie all the way through, but I did love the Doctor Who episode where she was a character. ;D
-
I've never read any Agatha Christie books.
-
I'm watching "The Sing-Off" and I just noticed that Jewel (new judge this year) pronounces "octave" like "ock-TAVE" (also, with the accent on the second syllable), not "OCK-tiv." I've never heard it pronounced like that. I don't know if it's because she's Canadian or what, but it's different...not wrong, just different.
-
I noticed that with my latest Kindle software update, Goodreads has become a native part of the operating system.
What kind of Kindle do you have? I have the Kindle Keyboard (originally, it was called the 3rd Generation). I don't know if there have been updates for mine. I haven't turned on the wi-fi and synched up with my account in quite a while. I do that (or don't do that, actually) so that the books that I've gotten from the library don't go away.
-
Well...
-
...since we're so close...
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
A couple of years ago, I recorded "Tender Mercies" from OnDemand to my DVD burner. I love this movie, probably mostly because of Betty Buckley. ;) For some reason, I just left it there and didn't actually burn a DVD...until tonight. I'm finally burning the disc.
-
Oh, dear, finally finished the Scorsese movie - THREE HOURS of it.
