Well, you've read the notes, the notes were filled with sound and fury signifying both nothing and something, and now it is time for you to post until the sound and fury cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TRANSPONTINE!
-
Condolences to FJL and Skip on the loss of Toby.
-
DR FJL - so very, very sorry to learn of your sad news.

-
And have a happy one to Dan the Man on his day of birth
-
Good morning, all!
Happy Birthdays, Dan & Penny!
-
Good morning, all! Whatever happened to Dan(theMan)? At one point, he responded to my inquiry that things were difficult at work. Since then, he's not answered any of my inquiries although I see his posts on Facebook occasionally. I guess he and DR Jose have moved elsewhere. I hope he is well.
I am ready to head to physical therapy. There is nothing new to report, except that I did not win the lottery, no Drs will get a nice financial bundle from me, and my list of 30+ recordings goes unrecorded. Damnation!
DR FJL, I was very fond of Toby. I am so sorry to hear that he has passed on.
And there's one more thing to say.
-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday to our dearest, darlingest DR PennyO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Another snow emergency has been declared. Have to take care to move the car to the right street (and the right SIDE of the right street), and at the right time, in order to avoid being ticketed and/or towed.

In case any DR is finding themselves in need of a soothing 5-minute respite:

TRANSPONTINE
The long lost, gender-confused second cousin of Fantine. Transpontine's solo in Les Miz got cut before the show debuted in the West End.
-
Good morning, all.
My symphathies, FJL and Skip, on the loss of Toby.
-
Happy birthday, much-missed PennyO!
-
Happy birthday, much-missed Dan-the-Man!
-
Good morning, all.
Yes, morning. Not afternoon.
I was halfway to my destination, on a 50-minute trip that was promising to take an hour and a half in morning rush hour traffic, when the school called and said the other school, for whom we were doing the extra concert this morning, just called them and said they weren't coming. Hahaha! No skin off my nose. Although maybe I'd better look in the mirror and check. So, turned around in someone's snow-covered driveway and headed back home with nearly four beautiful, blessed hours of comfort (i.e., not in my tux) returned to me. Yay!! Back tonight for the last two performances. Man, what a season so far.
Coffee! And a couple of sausage burritos.
-
All the best with your evaluation today, George.
-
DR FJL, I'm very sorry to hear the news. I know all too well how it feels. Condolences.
-
I'm so sorry DR FJL!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
:(
-
Happy Birthday to Penny O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Happy Birthday to Dan the Man!
-
Happy Birthdays to DR PennyO, who I do not know, and to DR Dan the Man who I hope is well. All best wishes!
-
Relief! Christmas obligations tended to.
To those of you to whom I've sent things in the past of the holidays, please accept my wishes and thanks for getting me through the past five bad months and my apologies for sending only those tokens of my affection this year. When things improve for me, we all all benefit.
Thank God I'm working again.
-
Boy, did we ever get, er, uh, foobar'd (yeah, that's it) by the snowstorm yesterday, which lasted twice as long as it was supposed to and created total havoc. The "back roads", like mine, are still in a ridiculously slushy condition, but thank the Ye Gods nothing further came down through the night. Seriously. And we are in beautiful shape here for the next few days, with temperatures warming up to ... do I see "63"??? ... by Sunday. At any rate, and all that really matters, is: no snow in the forecast till Boxing Day! Yay!! :)

Screeners! I don't get any..... :(
-
DR CHAS SMITH what part of the concert always gets the most audience reaction?
-
Elmore, yes, I could see Toby and Dylan's great affection for you as well when you were here all those times.
-
And thanks to Jrand

Screeners! I don't get any..... :(
You know, I've been checking my mailbox, too.

Hello All:
Happy Birthday to Penny O and Dan the Man!

TOD:
What are screeners?

Goodbye for now!

The SAVING MR BANKS DeLuxe Soundtrack includes a disk of some demo songs sung by the Sherman Brothers....some of which have been available before on different CD's. And a few songs by Julie Andrews...and my favorite song from the soundtrack "Let's Go Fly a Kite."

There's all this bashing of SAVING MR BANKS going on with FB and Castrecl for distorting the facts. Well, hello! It's a movie. There's hardly a single true moment in FUNNY GIRL and it claims to be a biography of Fanny Brice!
Having seen the stage version of MARY POPPINS, which has one of the worst books by a decent writer and terrible new song replacements, I can only praise the Disney film for its fun, its good screenplay, and its unity, all of which are missing in the stage production.
And I cannot wait to see SAVING MR BANKS!

I'm afraid our DR TCB, like Mikey, needs more saltpeter in his diet.

Thank you, DR Elmore, for absolving us re the stage MARY POPPINS.
I, too, greatly look forward to SAVING MR. BANKS.

I woke up at four this morning and could not get back to sleep. I'm not functioning now but I did finish another book making my total this year 149 :o

This is what I posted under the Times review as a comment/parody: (Hope no one takes offense.)
Imagining the chorus of people who note Saving Mr. Banks is not a documentary. :)
Tune of “Chim Chim Cheree”
Up on the screen as the story’s unfurled
Between fiction and fact is the Film-flamming world
When there’s sadness and pain, they streak it with light
It’s still sharp and pointed, who cares if it’s right?
(If you have complaints, go and post on some site)
Flim-flammery, flim-flammery
Flim-flam’s for me
When you’re here with Walt, you’re in glad company
Nowhere is there a more diverting crew
Than them what does flim-flam for me and for you
Today here’s a movie that you can go see
That by some accounts may re-write history
So what if some claim what it’s saying ain’t true
It’s practically perfect in getting to you
Flim-flammery, flim-flam
Yes, that’s what films do
-
Good morning, all!
Sorry I went missing for a couple days there. I lost most of the day yesterday, when my car decided to conk out in the middle of errands and beg for repair... to the tune of about $400 and a 10 mile walk home. Friends were either out of town, too far away or working. Ah well, I survived the Tea Dance in Parade, I can survive the long walk home. Thankfully, I have a friend taking me to pick my car up again at noon. Oy...yesterday felt lost. ::)
All of that was going on while fielding two possible singing gigs for this Sunday which are too far apart to make both on time. And... trying to plan my escape to Portland, Maine on the 29th for a 6 week job singing in a show about Ira Gershwin, called WORDS BY. And, where else would you want to be in the middle of winter but way up north? Brrrr.
I hope everyone has a wondrous Wednesday!
-
I was here, you should have called!
-
I've been up since nine, dealing with the scam thing - all is well now.
-
I was here, you should have called!
Bless you, BK. With all of the things you are juggling, I imagined you were up to your eyeballs in being busy.
Good news. Just got the call that my car is ready and my friend Tom is taking me to pick it up.
-
I am listening to Sandy's Bainum's new Christmas CD and I am enjoying it very much!
Kevin H. sent it to me a few days ago. Thanks again Kevin!
See you Sunday!
-
So sorry about Toby, FJL!!
-
Therapy was fun today: there was no crowd, so the staff was up to mischief, playing games, being silly, and now I cannot get "What's New At The Zoo?: out of my head.
Let is out! Let us out! Let us out! Let us out!
The zoo is overloaded!
Let is out! Let us out! Let us out! Let us out!
The population has exploded!

DR ryacko that is SOME walk!
-
Thank you, Kate

Ten miles!!?

A Very Happy Birthday to DR PennyO!! :D

Phyllis Newman had that song turned into a children's book, or so I heard. I'd love to see a copy.

Great lyrics, FJL.
Portland, Maine, this time of year will be very, very cold, DR Ryacko. Had a friend who took a class there one winter and recalls it being snowed over the entire time she was there.

Oh Fred, I am so very sorry you have lost your dear sweet Toby. You and Skip are terrific parent's and he had a great life with you.
How is Dylan?

Good. I hope he isn't too sad.

My sister lives in Portland, Maine. I was there a few years ago just before Christmas.

Back from a chopped salad with oil and vinegar, ham and avocado (light and good) and a cup of chili. Picked up two packages, including a birthday gift from the East Coast Singer - something I'll get every month for a year - a pie of the month. This one is kind of a cherry apple crumb pie and it looks most yummilicious and I'll sample it this very evening.

Pie of the Month! That's awesome!

Well, isn't THE SOUND OF MUSIC based closely on the German film rather than the Maria Trapp book? Blame the German film. That's what got Mary Martin's panties in a bunch about playing the role.

I didn't know there was a German film, interesting.

Sandra: "I was thinking about waffles -- about all those little wells that hold butter and syrup. Well, I don't like syrup, but I do like honey. Do you think if we went to Waffle House they would have honey? Or can we make waffles at home and put honey and butter on them instead of syrup and butter?"
Dad: "I'm going to head out for the grocery store. Is there anything you want from there?"
Sandra: "Ketchup."
Funny.
I like my waffles plain.
-
Harlan Ellison is one of the bashers, and he's his usual self about it - yes, there are fictionalized sequences clearly, but it would have been an unbearably negative film if there weren't. They did what they needed to do to make the story work for audiences, which is the smart move. It's a lovely film, not brilliant, but certainly an old-fashioned movie and one that's very easy to take, unlike most of the claptrap I've watched in the last three weeks, most of which made me want to vomit on the ground. It's interesting to me, that of the screeners I've watched, the two I liked best both feature Tom Hanks.

Or "Gypsy" or "Ben Franklin in Paris" or "Assassins."
Well, the musical GYPSY uses almost nothing in the original book, which bears little resemblance to Gypsy Rose Lee's actual life. June was probably more truthful in EARLY HAVOC; although both she and Gypsy are quite dishonest about their own bisexuality, Gypsy pretends Rose was heterosexual and had no idea what a lesbian was and June makes her a big dyke in MORE HAVOC. It's as big a mess as Elsie Janis and her mother, the notorious Mrs Bierbower.

I did not expect any problems. I just don't like having them and now that I'm a supervisor, I have to do them for my staff. They're all great and I'm happy that they're working here and they all got very good evaluations, too. :D

I am missing Ron Pulliam's Annual Christmas Adventure this year.
-
Wednesday evening greetings! After a very restless night, I spent the morning arranging the angel collection on the piano. Then I got cleaned up and went out to do some Christmas errands before heading to Mom's to meet my cousin and his fiance from Georgia. They're visiting her family north of Dayton for some holiday festivity and (May) wedding planning. Mom wanted to "treat" us to dinner in the retirement community dining room, so Richard met us there and 4 of us enjoyed the meal. Mom could not eat, and told us she has not been able to since Friday, so I guess I'd better call the gastroenterologist tomorrow for her follow-up appointment. We got her settled in her apartment and visited a bit more and now Richard and I are home.
-
DR FJL, you and Skip and Dylan have my condolences...

Happiest of birthdays to DR PennyO!

They are a small place and were not staffed for that, so I was on my own. I managed.

It feels good not to have to write a bad evaluation. It seems you work with a lot of nice people.
I know! I am very lucky to have worked with some really good people. I have coworkers (who have different supervisors) who've told me horror stories about their bosses. :P

DR George, congratulations on your evaluation and on completing the ones for your staff. That was my least favorite part of being a manager.
Thanks, Ginny!

It might not help but I have found I can eat basmati when I can't eat anything else, and then I slowly add other foods to it.
Thanks, DR Jane, she's not likely to take my advice.
Tell her it is advice from a person with IBS. When I first got it I couldn't eat anything but basmati which, of course, wasn't good for me. I hope the doctor offers some suggestions.

Congrats to George!

Thank you so much, Ginny

Thanks, FJL! I enjoyed reading this.

Well, I'm heading out. I need to go shopping for something to bring to my work's annual holiday potluck tomorrow. We have a 10:00 am break and gift exchange (up to $10, not gender specific...for those who chose to participate) and lunch at 1:00 pm.
-
In the past I've brought meatballs for the lunch (not the gift exchange ;)), but I just don't want to have to deal with cooking anything...and my crock pot is tall (and old) and can tip over too easily. It's just too much of a hassle. So, I'll see what I can find that's already prepared.
Be back later!

Let's not get started with the lack of facts in "The Sound of Music," either.
Well, isn't THE SOUND OF MUSIC based closely on the German film rather than the Maria Trapp book? Blame the German film. That's what got Mary Martin's panties in a bunch about playing the role.
Or "Gypsy" or "Ben Franklin in Paris" or "Assassins."
well thank goodness 1776, at least, is historically accurate - would that our current legislators could sing and dance so well
