Well, you've read the notes, the notes had special moments, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently having special MOOments.
-
And the word of the day is: QUADRILLE!
-
Well, it's Friday. Right? It's been hard to tell what the days were this week. I'm sure next week will be just as confusing. Friday!!!!!
-
Good morning, all! I have a meeting at the York this afternoon at 4:00. I'll have to levee here around 3, since my last experience with buses was that it will take me an hour to get there. I'm thinking about doing a bit of laundry this morning; if not, I'll do it tomorrow.
I'm pretty much stuck here waiting for a UPS delivery from Staples until I leave, and if it isn't here by then, I'll leave the driver a note to leave the package in front of my door.
Speaking of UPS, I see that one of my Christmas packages has finally moved out of a Lexington KY warehouse and will finally be delivered today.
Nothing else to report. I must make my bed and get to work on Trumpet 4.
TOD:
DVD: a couple of Netflix items, a duple of Criterions
CD: 9 To 5 OBC, Roberta edits, Guy Haines
VCR: Nope
-
Friday morning greetings! My friend Becky is bringing pastries from Servatii's and coming here for coffee and to admire my angel collection and our Christmas tree ornaments. Over the years, she has made many contributions to both and, because of traveling with her husband at holiday time, she has never seen them all put together.
-
Friday media check:
CDs - all new for Christmas: Martina McBride Christmas and Greatest Hits, MOTOWN THE MUSICAL OBC, Barbra Streisand Back to Brooklyn
DVDs - also from Christmas: Hugh Jackman's OKLAHOMA, Barbra's Back to Brooklyn, Carrie Underwood's SOUND OF MUSIC (thanks, DR George!)
-
TOD:
THE BUTLER
FRUITVALE STATION
PRISONERS
plus a bunch of Jessie Matthews movies that I need to review.
-
Morning, all!
What a wonderful story, Bruce! Congrats, and I can't wait to hear the demo!
On to the TOD:

DVD Drive: Psych season 7
Youtube Playlist: Underdos (Israeli religious comedy troupe), assorted TED talks
Travel reading: Astonishing Splashes of Colour by Clare Morrall - interesting first novel from a very talented, albeit highly unpolished, writer
On the nightstand: Your Brain at Work by David Rock
-
Good morning to all
-
Had a hard time signing from my house. But no problem from work
-
TOD
Still finishing up with Barney Miller
-
And the word of the day is: QUADRILLE!
Isn't that the Brad Davis film?
-
In case some people might have missed my posting from the other day I am downsizing my CD collection as most of it is digital.
I am offering them $1.00 per title. There are no Jewel cases, but there are the inlaid cards and booklets (Some exceptions). Shipping cost to be determined depending on how many and where you live,
Two dear readers have already responded.
Please PM me and I will send you a list of the remaining titles.
It is a first come first served type of offer.
Thanks
-
Good morning.
-
T.O.D.

-
Good morning, all.
I, too, couldn't get to HHW or Kritzerland this morning. Started trying at 8:15 AM eastern and finally got on at 10:00 AM. I tried pinging and running traceroutes (believe me when I say I'm no techie, but I know how to do those two things at the command line), and neither site could be found on the internet, let alone reached. However, it's apparent that others were able to get on during that time, so there's something going on that sometimes affects certain locations and not others -- which, to me, would seem like the worst kind of problem to have to resolve.
Coffee!
-
Actually, make that more coffee! I even made a whole pot this time. Like in the old days. Imagine!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
As for the notes, that is just the greatest kind of story. If only BK had an audio recording of that first phone rendition of the song! :)
-
And the word of the day is: QUADRILLE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: COME DANCE WITH ME
-
I Feel A Millstone Coming On
-
'Tis A Special Moment !!!
-
'Tis A Special Moment !!!
And what a beautiful round millstone it is!!!!!
-
Conga-rats, DR ArnoldBrockman! I feel sure that 5000 is a lucky number!
-
BK, I am very, very happy for you! Your notes regarding Richard Sherman put a big smile on my face!
-
TOD:
DVD:
Doing an interview with a Bollywood actor this weekend...so watching some of his films including MARKET, SAUDA:THE DEAL, NO MEN ALLOWED (!), and MR. 100%.
DVR:
Recorded some scary 1970s witch movie, but can't recall the title.
-
Nothing else to report. I must make my bed and get to work on Trumpet 4.
I'm starting to have this vision... of our very own DR Elmore... wandering through Manhattan... disguised as a fourth trumpet...
-
I loved reading the Sherman story in the notes today. And I am looking forward to hearing the result.
DR ELMORE I think you are correct about the SMB credit....I am interested in the book at your link.....
-
TOD:
DVD: Silver Linings Playbooki
CD: Enya...The Memory of Trees
-
John Wayne and Sabrina arrived in my mailbox this morning.
-
I loved reading the Sherman story in the notes today. And I am looking forward to hearing the result.
DITTO! :)
-
I, too, couldn't get to HHW or Kritzerland this morning.
Yes, I was also locked out of HHW for many hours this morning. Extremely frustrating.
-
I could not log on this morning either.
-
The notes made me a little teary today.
-
DR Cilla I'm glad you aren't trapped in an elevator.
-
Thank you DR Singdaw. I'm still "holding", not well but not sick yet.
-
From DR Cilla:
You can say that again! It took long enough that I actually yelled help once, but apparently no one heard me
Scary.
-
Friday morning greetings! My friend Becky is bringing pastries from Servatii's and coming here for coffee and to admire my angel collection and our Christmas tree ornaments. Over the years, she has made many contributions to both and, because of traveling with her husband at holiday time, she has never seen them all put together.
She is in for a treat then, appropriate that she is taking you treats ;)
-
I just read the very sweet notes.
-
Yes. Treats are always good. 8)
-
Trumpet 4 is not going well today. I'm making lots of stupid mistakes.
-
Just received a lovely package of new and ketchup CDs from Kritzerland. :)
-
UPS just dropped off my Staples order. I'm happy it arrived before I step out later.
-
Trumpet 4 vibes for DR ELMORE.
Yes, the elevator story from DR CILLA LIZ made me very nervous. Things like that always make me think of some old made for tv movie about people trapped overnight in a department store that had vicious man-eating dogs that ran loose over night when the store was closed.....
-
TOD
Blu-ray - "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad" which arrived a couple of days before Christmas so I only had a chance to quickly scan some of it before travelling. What I heard and saw seemed remarkably good - even if I don't much care for the rather juvenile-targeted film!
-
A Blue-Ray release that has me seriously considering upgrading my DVD player to BD: http://b2mp.net/products/the-puppetoon-movie-blu-ray/ (http://b2mp.net/products/the-puppetoon-movie-blu-ray/)
-
Ah DougR, I remember seeing THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD when it played at theatres when I was a kid. My older brother Al and his girlfriend at the time took me and my little brother Dan to see it. As far as I recollect, we all enjoyed it. I don't believe I have seen it since that time, which must have been what, 1973 or 74?
-
I've been up since ten, but I guess I had the work session time wrong - it must be noon. I had another telephone call from Richard Sherman, so I could write down the adjusted lyric - interestingly he did what I'd started to do in the bridge and then stopped - wrote two more lines. Otherwise, he just deleted one word in each verse to make it scan with the tune he wrote, and he added one penultimate line to each verse. I can already play and hum the first four lines, that's how catchy it is. He's coming over on Sunday and I'll record it into Ye Olde iPhone.
-
In my CD player here at work (in order of receipt...I went a little crazy and went on a shopping spree over the last several weeks. ;)):
The Last Session (OLC): "This special advance release of the Original London Cast album of THE LAST SESSION is exclusive to the MADTRUST and proceeds from the sales will benefit the Trust"
Hands on a Hard Body (OBC)
Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812 (OCR)
NOW. HERE. THIS. (OCR)
Maltby & Shire's Cyrano plus highlights from Maltby & Shire's Grand Tour (this is a replacement for my stolen copy)
Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (OLC) - this is actually the second copy that I ordered. The first never arrived and the Amazon seller graciously refunded my money. I bought this from another seller and it finally arrived.
I won't get to listen to them all of them today.
-
And literally as I was typing this message, I was handed two, count 'em, TWO more packages: one contains the original cast recording to Far From Heaven (and "The World's End" on Blu-ray) and the other is from Kritzerland: "Sabrina" AND "John Wayne At Fox: the Westerns"!
It's Christmas again!! :D
-
It's Christmas again!! :D
Now and forever!
-
It's Christmas again!! :D
Now and forever!
Amen!

'Tis A Special Moment !!!
And what a beautiful round millstone it is!!!!!
And it deserves to be memorialized!

Just popping in briefly to wish everyone a Happy Mid-Holiday. I may go missing for a day or two here, as I am organizing and packing (and buying warm things) to fly to Portland, Maine early Sunday morning, to start work Monday on a piece about Ira Gershwin, called WORDS BY.
Maine. In winter. What was I thinking? :P
I am so looking forward to hearing your new Richard Sherman collaboration, BK!
Cheers, all!
-
It should be beautiful in Maine.
SAFE AND EASY TRAVEL VIBES!

Travel vibes to DR ryacko - wave when you fly over Ohio!
-
Congrats to DR ArnoldMBrockman on his milestone!

DR Kate and I met our niece for lunch yesterday. Later, Kate and I went to visit our late mother's best friend, who's now is a nursing home. She was very glad to see us. We reminded of the time she said a memorable line to me.
I used to take home movies and would often show them when we had company. One time Mil saw me coming down the stairs with my projector and screen and said, "Here comes Kevin with his movie equipment and that's my cue to leave."

Congrats to BK on his collaboration with Richard Sherman! Can't wait to hear it!

Back from some penne pasta in creamy tomato sauce - not as good as usual, but fine. I was way off on the time of our work session, which is in one hour.

I got the 1st season of House Of Cards dvd from the library (with Kevin Spacey). Has anybody seen this show?

And I am home from the York! We had a very good meeting, and I suspect that sometime in 2014 we will have a reading of "Christmas Up The Holler" there. Very exciting!

I started scrubbing the walls in the den to get the remaining wall paper paste off and prepare them for painting. My shoulders are not fully healed yet or I should say rehabbed. I did get a portion of one wall done, but even with breaks couldn't do it all. I would have pushed ahead in the past, but not now. I'm cool with that. I still may get it all prepped over the weekend, but I'm not going to push it.

I wanted to watch this too, but for some reason it's not on till Tuesday on the Buffalo PBS station.

I am feeling a bit better. I hope it lasts. To be on the safe side I think I will take half a Benadryl again.

It's crazy how it goes from warm to cold so quickly. I think we are going to have high 30sF (which will be warm for us) and then it is going to get frigid again. :(

It is only 7:30pm, and already my eyelids are heavy. Oy!
-
I had programmed my DVR to program the Hamlisch documentary. Also, I believe the Kennedy Center honors are on Sunday night.
-
Had a great visit with Becky then took it easy for the rest of the day. I had a recliner nap and fixed our last dinner of Christmas leftovers. I'm finally tired of eating turkey. There's some in the freezer that I'll use after New Year's to make a pot pie.

Watching The Magnificent Ambersons on TCM.

Well, I'm not home yet, so even if it had been on tonight, I would've missed it. I wonder if it was already on or hasn't been yet. It could also be available to watch on PBS's website. I'll check that, too.

And on that note (A-natural), I'm going home.
Be back later.

Our PBS station, KCTS, shows on their website that they are showing AMERICAN MASTERS at 10:00 p.m., but the Direct TV schedule says they are showing GIANT starting at ten o'clock. That seems a dumb time for a three hour movie, so I'll bet it will be the Marvin Hamlisch special.

Don't worry, I'm not feeling any pain but have decided that I'm not going to do anymore work on it this weekend. It's a little closer to being done. There really isn't any hurry. I only have 1 wall and a little more to scrub. After that, it's easy peasy, just painting

Tomorrow, I'm ushering for a local play, written and put on by a local theater group, Harlequin Productions. It's one in a continuing series set in the fictional Stardust Club in New York City. They've always been set in the 1940s, but for the first time, they're jumping to the 1950s. The show that they did two years ago was supposed to be their last one, but evidently they decided to continue it. I've heard that this year's is better than they've been in quite a while.
