Here I am at the office but I just got word that we're closed. I'll finish up a few things and then head back into the snow. It's a shame they couldn't have told you before you bundled up and left the house! :-\
The real temperature for this morning's dog walk was -6, but by the end of the weekend we are expecting wind chills of between 40 and 60 below.
One excused day and then on January 20th the office is closed for MLK Day. Nice month so far.ssorry to hear you had late notice of the closing but happy to hear you are closed!
who's to say?
Vixmom, you made that hot caramel macchiato I assume. You didn't go out to Dunkin' just to buy one, did you?sorry I have been lost in the screenplay - no I di not got o Dunkin (although there is one only a short walk away) I received a free sample of gevalia caramel macchiato for the keurig in the mail yesterday - it was quite nice
I completely ignored my alarm at 6:30 and again at 7 but di respond to my boss's text message at 7 :15 advising that we were closing the office "for now" and he would let me know if I was needed to come in "later"
So I gave him an update of the day's jobs and Monday's jobs and promised to remote in for my emails so I am pretty sure that no "later" will be necessary
I wonder if DR Elmore has figured out yet that he actually slipped through a Jack Finney time warp during the night, and it's 1907 out there.

There's a side of me that suspected I might have, but I'm not in the Dakota, and I don't know if my building was built in 1913 so I can return there. Isn't the book 1975 to 1875? It's a wonderful novel!
I am also working on a new stage play for THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS collection.
But, this one will have 3 characters.
Friday morning greetings! Sunny and cold here in SW Ohio. I'd planned to stay in all day, but woke up with a subconjunctival hemorrhage in my left eye. My eye doctor wants to take a look, so we'll venture up there in a couple of hours. I wonder if it has anything to do with the shot of Novocaine that I had below that eye yesterday...
I don't think my car has been properly prepared for these severe winter conditions. It has basically been at zero or below for the past week, and the car has not started for the past 4 or 5 days. May need a new battery. I am hoping that they don't declare a snow emergency, which would require moving the car - which ain't happening at the moment. Eventually I will call AAA.
Eye Vibes for DR Ginny.
Let's hope it doesn't look as bad as this:
did you have a block heater installed?
Yeah, DR ChasSmith, it looks way worse than it is and I didn't know about it until I looked in the mirror.

And the word of the day is: DELITESCENT!
This is a Christmas photo of part of our landlord's living room. Her living room is directly below ours. The rooms are the same size, but there the similarity ends. At the moment, ours is pretty much just filled with unopened packing boxes. :P
Not nearly as photogenic.

DR Elmore, the traffic seems to be moving fine on Central Ave., which I can see from here at my desk. The eye doctor is at Breiel & Rosedale, so we don't have to go far.
Believe me, I could have done without this development. But it's a good thing we're going to that office, because I also suspect my glasses frames are about to snap. I've had them almost 5 years, so it's probably time for new ones.
Despite the lack of wintery weather here in Salem, Oregon 97301, I was still very much wanting to stay curled up in bed this morning.
Alas, one must go out and make a living.
The only thing missing is the actual snow.

It won't happen if he is anything like the guy in the movie. Richard Rounsville?
Question:
If I put on the Streisand BACK TO BROOKLYN CONCERT DVD, will DR Kevin appear in my living room?
I'm up, I'm up - I think I got eight hours, maybe a bit more - not quite enough, but lots to do, including calling Mickey Dolenz in about ten minutes.
I believe I am having a vicarious snow day. I have cranked up the heat, turned on the fireplace, and brewed a fresh cup of coffee with French Vanilla creamer. The only thing missing is the actual snow.
Question:
If I put on the Streisand BACK TO BROOKLYN CONCERT DVD, will DR Kevin appear in my living room?
yes and he will expect to be fed
yes and he will expect to be fed
DR ChasSmith - do you have to clear around the new generator, just in case?

Robert, not Richard.
This day has gone from a rather pleasant quiet one to a chaotic mess in record time. Who gives a good damn if the February schedule was settled, and all parties involved in the recording notified, on Oct 10!

I would say that is an affirmative.

The studio dates are set, the studio booked, the producer expecting the cast to show up prepared on the Feb. dates, and no problems with conflicts on those dates from anyone.
Until today.
Well, my astrological chart for today must be completely screwed. A delivery just arrived, with third of it missing.

By the way, DR TCB, if you'd like some actual snow for your snow day, you can have all of ours :P

Topic of the Day:
In my CD player at work: A WHOLE bunch of CDs that just arrived from DR Mike S. in Florida! Thanks, Mike!! :-*
I've been on ROBERTA crises mode for the past hour. Oy!
We watched a documentary last night called "The Queen of Versailles," a riches-to-rags story. In some ways, it brings to mind "Grey Gardens."
More sadly self-obsessed, sickly self-deluded folk you will never see.
I just read a review of Throne of Blood on Blu-Ray with a new buzz word. "Though some print DETRIRTUS remains, particularly noticeable in fades…"
I had to look up that word
and it means
In biology, detritus (pronounced dee-try-tus) is non-living particulate organic material (as opposed to dissolved organic material). It typically includes the bodies or fragments of dead organisms as well as fecal material.
So is it a correct usage describing images in blu-ray? I think not
DR Ginny, I'm happy that the eye situation has been taken care of.
After the madness of the ROBERTA brouhaha, I just had a lovely phone call from Robert Kimball that perked me right up. We are on the books for lunch next Friday. It will be nice to catch up.

Thank you, Mike. I hope I can find time to enjoy at least one of them this weekend.

I'm sorry, but when I look up and see that Roberta logo on my wall, I will send vibes. And I'm looking now. (Is that not the greatest logo of its time?)
Glad the eye news is as good as it, DR Ginny. The question is, do you have time to let it rest?
Ben, would you like to drive over here and help me get this Roku (which I will love) set up? Oh, and can you stop by Cila's and pick up the vegetable pizza on your way?
Question:
If I put on the Streisand BACK TO BROOKLYN CONCERT DVD, will DR Kevin appear in my living room?
yes and he will expect to be fed
And word has it he's a very picky eater.

Tell him we want a recording of Let's Face It. (And Red, Hot and Blue!, Around the World ..., Seven Lively Arts, Mississippi Belle ...)
DR ChasSmith - do you have to clear around the new generator, just in case?
Yes, but it's not a big chore. At least not till we have a REAL blizzard with deep snowfall. When I run the snowblower I cut a path over to it so we can get over there to blow or brush it off and make sure the snow line is below the vent slots.

I think this may be the version I have, though it is faded slightly with age. It's just so damned elegant. And it tells you it's fashionable/about fashion, it's says that it's a behind-the-scenes and it just lets you know you're in for a treat.

Fantastic! Of course you are going to take the job.
Made almost unbelievable progress in getting the last details of the major part of the book done. In the last two days, people have taken the time to talk with me and they have been helpful, funny, quotable and even educational. Each place that gets checked off the list feels like an answered prayer.

Hey, Tom,
I'll be over as soon as I get a car. After our trip to and back from Minnesota with the stops in Wisconsin I don't think Anthony is up for driving and I don't have a vehicle. If I stop in Iowa, I'll bring Cilla with me since she has a Roku and she can make sure I'm doing it correctly while we munch on veggie pizza.
We had no mail today either. I don't know if it's because the post office was closed or because we actually had no mail. Perhaps tomorrow we will know.
We watched
Variety Girl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variety_Girl)
It's a 1947 Paramount all star bonanza. Some of it is funny but it's 90 minutes and it's too long by about 30 and some of it's pretty bad. Anthony liked it much more than I.
With the new television and antenna we now get Channel 50 which is a NJ public television station. We get Channel 13, the NY PBS but we don't get Channel 21, the signal isn't strong enough. Anthony is watching a Midsomer Murders right now on Channel 50. It's nice to get 2 different PBS stations. I wish Channel 21 would boost their signal. They are about 45 miles away. If we had a roof antenna we could probably get the station but it's not our building so I can't put an antenna on the roof.
Oh, Deb, I hope Dad's hand heals quickly!
Larry, I hope the egg passes quickly.
Also, I hope the tsursis with Roberta and Philly resolves itself.

channel 21 is about 10 miles from here in our preVixter days Vixdad and I used to work their begathans for them answering phones and such like I also did a couple of late night live on air spots ( I was terrible)
because of this I was also asked to take part in BBC documentary about Americans watching Are You Being Served
That's also how we got to meet John Inman and how he came to ask for my autograph :)
Oh, Deb, I hope Dad's hand heals quickly!
thank you
he is feeling a little better at the moment after soaking it in cold water and taking some OTC pain meds
we are afraid the days to come will be worse as it appears he is going to end up blistering a losing the skin on his palm...

Bath accomplished. To bed now.
Went out to go to the last barbecue place on my list that's in town and, wouldn't you know it, they were closed until next week. Ugh. Thankfully, I have been there and I can write something.
But I was forced to go eat at a new restaurant that features lots of cured meats. The chef is also a cancer survivor, so he has named the place Cured.
I had some fun bites, including a dish called whipped pork butter. I skipped the house-made donut bread pudding with chocolate soup and dulce de leche ice cream, though. Another time, ChasSmith. Another time.

They're so lyrical. I may just have to check them out from the library again -- if I ever have time to watch a movie again.
