Well, you've read the notes, the notes had photographs to spare, and now it is time for you to post until the photographic cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HORNSWOGGLE!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
good morning to all
-
Happy Wednesday! (Sorry-- it's early, and that's the best I could come up with.)
-
Good morning, all! It's too warm in Manhattan, and i slept very poorly. I was awake around 5:30 with an anxiety attack, and then I didn't war to leave my bed when the alarm rang. I have physical therapy this morning, but I do not want to go. I have no urge to do anything today but go back to bed and hide. I hope this passes soon.
So, the NYC HHW gathering is Sunday, Feb. 9? Excellent!
-
Morning, everybody!
DR elmore: hope that the ol' ennui gets successfully fought today & each day.
"76 Trombones" is my nomination for song of the day for "hornswoggle."
Back to work!
-
Nice to see all the lovely benefit photos in today's notes.
-
Thanks so much for your comment from last night, TCB!
-
vixmom - Thanks.
And it would be lovely if you could come.
-
Good morning, all.
Wonderful photo notes to wake up to today. It all looks so excellent.
-
And the word of the day is: HORNSWOGGLE!
Well, I'll be.
-
LOVED THE PHOTOS in the notes....all nice....but the one of Mr Richard Sherman is especially lovely!
I MUST say, however, that somebody needs to buy the producer a suit that fits him.
-
DR TCB - I would love to see a Debra Messing stomping scene, but it would not involve grapes.
-
Rehearsal went well yesterday.....I am almost there with my lines in the longest scene I have....ALMOST. We also worked on one of the fight scenes I have.....I have two fights, both in the same scene.....so that's a lot of time on the floor for an old man.
However I had no problem working on the scene....rolling around on the floor with a college freshman is something I used to do a lot in my youth.
-
Today we are running & working Act One....which is my short act....only two scenes (one with no dialog)....
My almost favorite line I have....there are many is:
Every love we have is a seed for loss.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY is:
What is the shortest rehearsal schedule you have had for a PLAY?
-
Too much me on this page.
-
I enjoyed all of the poems yesterday, so here is one of my favorite RECITATIONS:
Someone ate the baby it's rather sad to say
Someone ate the baby so she won't be out to play
We'll never hear her whiney cry or have to feel if she is dry
We'll never hear her asking why why why someone ate the baby
Someone ate the baby it's absolutely clear
Someone ate the baby cause the baby isn't here
We'll give away her toys and clothes we'll never have to wipe her nose
Dad says that's the way it goes someone ate the baby
Someone ate the baby what a frightful thing to eat
Someone ate the baby though she wasn't very sweet
It was a heartless thing to do the policemen haven't got a clue
I simply can't imagine who would go and (burp) eat the baby
Shel Silverstein

Good morning.

Good Morning all:
TOD:
Dear BK;
Since my birthday is approaching soon, I wonder if you could give us a tiny hint of what your book is about?
That could be my birthday gift from you!
-
DR BK:
TOD:
What is Micky Dolenz like.
I remember being a Freshman in High School when THE MONKEES WERE ON TV.
I Just loved the show! Also how was his performance?
-
Goodbye for now!!!

Shel Silverstein
I knew Shel Silverstein slightly, and I would run into him around town. He was a really kind man.
-
Shel Silverstein wrote the lyrics for this song, which reminds me a great deal of my mother's depression and emotional problems. She was never committed, but she probably should have been.
The morning sun touched lightly on the eyes of Lucy Jordan
In a white suburban bedroom in a white suburban town
As she lay there 'neath the covers dreaming of a thousand lovers
Till the world turned to orange and the room went spinning round.
At the age of thirty-seven she realised she'd never
Ride through Paris in a sports car with the warm wind in her hair.
So she let the phone keep ringing and she sat there softly singing
Little nursery rhymes she'd memorised in her daddy's easy chair.
Her husband, he's off to work and the kids are off to school,
And there are, oh, so many ways for her to spend the day.
She could clean the house for hours or rearrange the flowers
Or run naked through the shady street screaming all the way.
At the age of thirty-seven she realised she'd never
Ride through Paris in a sports car with the warm wind in her hair
So she let the phone keep ringing as she sat there softly singing
Pretty nursery rhymes she'd memorised in her daddy's easy chair.
The evening sun touched gently on the eyes of Lucy Jordan
On the roof top where she climbed when all the laughter grew too loud
And she bowed and curtsied to the man who reached and offered her his hand,
And he led her down to the long white car that waited past the crowd.
At the age of thirty-seven she knew she'd found forever
As she rode along through Paris with the warm wind in her hair ...

And I did not go to physical therapy; I'm working on this choral arrangement. I need the money more than the therapy today.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! I've been out and about already for the shingles vaccine and every woman's second favorite medical screening. Now I'm home having lunch and waiting for Rob to arrive to help me take Mom grocery shopping.
-
That is a very powerful poem DR ELMORE.
-
Good morning, all.
Perhaps money is your therapy today, Elmore.
-
I could use some of that therapy.
-
Two!
-
Money makes the world go 'round.
Congrats on the book DR JOHN G - sounds like you made a very tight deadline!
-
Yeah, gimme some of that old time money therapy any old day.
-
It's a great attitude adjuster!
-
Oy!
That is all
-
My thanks to JohnG and FJL for noting my "milestone". I, too, missed it.
:D

I shall spend the day scouring the internet in search of the unnamed writer/director of "One Starry Night" who was featured in the captions to all the pictures BK shared in today's column.
I'm sure the writer/director has a proper name and a deep, probing search will probably see it turn up. Or is that turnip?
-
That last post was a little yoke and need not be treated seriously or with the name of said unnamed writer/director, whose name I do know.
-
Oy!
That is all
If that's your story today, then you stick to it!
-
Oy!
That is all
Spoken like a man of few, but well chosen, words.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY is:
What is the shortest rehearsal schedule you have had for a PLAY?
Probably for a full production a couple of weeks.
-
Good Morning all:
TOD:
Dear BK;
Since my birthday is approaching soon, I wonder if you could give us a tiny hint of what your book is about?
That could be my birthday gift from you!
I wish I could, but there have just been too many instances of prying eyes reading stuff I've talked about and then ripping it off wholesale. Since the book won't be finished for at least three more weeks (if I keep this pace) and since it won't come out for a couple of months after that, I just can't take the chance that someone will see what I'm doing and then magically we'll see something just like it appear out of nowhere.
-
I'm up, I've futzed and finessed, I'm still feeling a bit queasy, I added a paragraph to one thing from the last batch of pages, I've printed out that one and all the new stuff and will shortly get it to Muse Maragaret.
-
Love all the pictures, BK!

I love this poem! Another of my favorite funny poems is "The Prime of Life (http://readanybooks.net/ScienceFiction/Asimov38/27290.html)" by Isaac Asimov.
-
Anyone having trouble today accessing the site? Could be my Internet connection at work. Very sloooooooooooooooooooooooooow.
-
I'm very sleepy at the moment, and i need to get my energy up. My goddaughter Charlotte is coming over tonight to watch DALLAS BUYERS CLUB with me. I'm looking forward to seeing her and the film.
-
The day is proceeding as expected...on time, but with moments of sluggishness.
-
A poem I've loved ever since I had to memorize it in 9th grade English class:
By Rudyard Kipling
When Earth's last picture is painted and the tubes are twisted and dried,
When the oldest colours have faded, and the youngest critic has died,
We shall rest, and, faith, we shall need it -- lie down for an aeon or two,
Till the Master of All Good Workmen shall put us to work anew!
And those that were good shall be happy: they shall sit in a golden chair;
They shall splash at a ten-league canvas with brushes of comets' hair;
They shall find real saints to draw from -- Magdalene, Peter, and Paul;
They shall work for an age at a sitting and never be tired at all!
And only the Master shall praise us, and only the Master shall blame;
And no one shall work for money, and no one shall work for fame,
But each for the joy of the working, and each, in his separate star,
Shall draw the Thing as he sees It for the God of Things as They Are!

A fun song lyric:
Down on an island in the Southern Seas,
There lives a lassie named Minnie Breeze;
And all the natives agree that she's
The hottest thing in Trinidad!
When Minnie dances, I guarantee
With every move of her vertebrae
The temperature jump up ten degree!
In Trinidad that isn't bad!
Aye aye aye, they call her Minnie from Trinidad,
Aye aye aye, they all love Minnie from Trinidad,
Aye aye aye, and all the natives would be so sad
If Minnie ever left Trinidad!
Although the natives love Minnie so,
Minnie had herself a steady beau;
A fellow known as Calypso Joe,
And Minnie swore they'd never part!
But fate stepped in only as fate could,
Min won a contest for dancing good,
So she went away to Hollywood;
When Joe heard that it broke his heart!
In Hollywood Minnie traveled far,
They changed her name to Minnie La Mar,
And pretty soon she became a star,
The siren of the picture show!
But one day Minnie got awful mad,
a guy got fresh and she said, "You cad!
My heart belongs to my Trinidad,
My Trinidad Calypso Joe".
Aye aye aye, they call her Minnie from Trinidad,
Aye aye aye, in Hollywood Minnie met a cad;
Aye aye aye, but there is only one native lad
Gets chinny with Minnie from Trinidad!
So Minnie gave up her dough and fame,
And she went back to from where she came;
And when she got there she heard with shame
That her Calypso Jo was dead!
When she heard that, she almost died,
She got a gun to try suicide!
But as she started to shoot, she cried,
"I think I'd rather live instead!".
But now the natives are mighty glad,
'Cause Minnie came back to Trinidad!
Aye aye aye aye,
Aye aye aye aye aye aye aye,
Aye aye!
Aye aye!

It's not my favorite song from the film. That would be "You Stepped Out of A Dream".
-
Page what? Two? Did somebody say TWO?
-
Yes, it's page two.
-
Not a whole lot of activity today.
-
The errant and truant factor, not to mention that lack of posting, has contributed to the dearth of pages.
-
I expect DR FJL to come up with some lyrics that incorporate "dearth of pages".
-
I think I'm going to blame Jose.
-
Yes, that's exactly what I'm doing. I'm blaming Jose.
-
And possibly the napping Elmo.
-
Just one more post and we'll be on page 3.
-
Mercifully, it's THREE.
-
Saints be praised!
-
Thanks for getting us to page 3, DR Ron! I was dozing for a bit, and now I am moving again. I had some mac'n'cheese for dinner, and I'm waiting for Charlotte to show up.
-
I should have called her about coming over earlier. I hope I can stay awake!
-
I should have called her about coming over earlier. I hope I can stay awake!
More coffee!
-
Only 11 more minutes until "quittin' time!"
-
Rob and I met at Mom's and took her on a $200 plus trip to the grocery. I put away the refrigerator and freezer stuff, made a phone call for her, and wrote a check. Rob then came to our house and helped Richard shrink-wrap the Christmas tree (in sections). He also carried several storage tubs of decorations downstairs. Now all that's left of Christmas are a couple of dying poinsettias and the angel collection on the piano.
We took Rob to dinner at Olive Garden and sent him home. Mary Linda is in Indiana all week for work, but will be back for both of them to help us celebrate our wedding anniversary this weekend.
-
I had some poached eggs on toast again, along with some white rice. My tummy is not tip-top and worse than yesterday - not really understanding why and it's quite annoying. Then I dropped forty-six pages off to Muse Margaret, who will hopefully read and like them, and then I picked up a couple of packages.
-
Then I came home and wrote three pages, and will definitely do three more in a bit and maybe even some beyond that just to cross the 100 page milestone.
-
Charlotte just called me. She and her mother are in a meeting with a landlord about signing an apartment lease and she didn't know how long they would be. So, I asked for a raincheck, possibly for tomorrow night. She will check her schedule and let me know. If not, we'll do it next week,
I will be in bed very shortly.
-
Good evening!
-
Great photos, BK!
-
Hope you feel better soon, BK.
-
I expect DR FJL to come up with some lyrics that incorporate "dearth of pages".
You never feel the worth of pages
Til you feel the dearth of pages
The insanity and mirth of pages
Heard around the earth
Well, it rhymes, anyway. :)

Very nice. Bravo!

I think I said the other day that I'd watched a couple of Val Lewton films. Watching them closely, after having not seen any of them for several years, was so satisfying that I carried on with more. I've now seen I Walked With a Zombie, The Seventh Victim, Bedlam, The Ghost Ship, and I'm about to put in The Leopard Man. Tomorrow, Isle of the Dead and The Body Snatcher. I'm saving the two Cat People films for last. These are gems, and I guess I'm just in the right place for them this week. Very very satisfying.
-
I'm still at work (no surprise there) and am invoicing invoices. Tonight is the cut-off for this month and there have been some problems because of the fiscal year roll-over. Nothing that can't be fixed, but the fixing takes time away from actually paying the invoices.
Oh, well.
-
Right now, I'm listening to the original London cast recording of The Card with Jim Dale, Millicent Martin and Marti Webb. Thank you Mike S! :D
-
After that will be the BK conceived and produced album, "Superman: The Ultimate Collection."
-
Gratuitous Post #79!
-
And now...back to my invoices. :P
-
Back from what I hope is a successful audition for a regular weekly paid singing job.
-
Time shall tell.
-
But right now, she's mum.
-
Mum's the word.
-
Ain't that absurd?
-
It did not get off to a good start. I got totally turned around and lost in downtown and was almost late.
-
Running around in the freezing cold and snow, and working up a great sweat because I was lost and nervous that I would be late.
-
I left PLENTY of extra time - but not, apparently, enough.
-
But all was right in the end.
-
And it was entirely worth it, because the telling of it took us to page 4.
-
Even though I spend $12 unnecessarily. Did I mention that there are umpteen parking garages? Only here, they call them parking "ramps."
-
And I chose two of the wrong ones. :o
-
Well, it was dark, snowing, and I didn't know exactly where I was going. I had GPS navigation on my phone, but I must have copied the destination address down incorrectly.
-
I hate it when that happens! :)
-
BK, did you previously mention the award for Richard Sherman?
-
Howdy, all.
-
Page four?
-
Only page four?
-
Long, long day.
-
And I have way to much to do.
-
Met the new uber-boss today. Seemed nice. Hope things go well.
-
Well, mittel-uber-boss.
-
In the spirit of some of the lyrics today comes this ditty from Cole Porter. Highly politically incorrect:
Katie went to Haiti,
Stopped off for a rest.
Katie met her matey,
Katie was impressed!
After a week in Haiti,
She started to go away,
Then Katie met another natie,
So Katie prolonged her stay!
After a month in Haiti,
She decided to resume her trip,
But Katie met still another natie,
And Katie missed her ship!
So Katie lived in Haiti;
Her life there, it was great,
'Cause Katie knew her Haiti,
And practically all Haiti knew Katie!
So Katie lived in Haiti;
Her life there, it was great,
'Cause Katie knew her Haiti,
And practically all Haiti knew Katie!
-
Anybody out there?
-
Back from what I hope is a successful audition for a regular weekly paid singing job.
Good luck, Singsong!!
-
Anybody out there?
I'm here and there.

Vixdad took me to California Pizza Kitchen for dinner
-
I do love the Thai chicken pizza but I always get it and I feel as if I should try something else on the menu
-
So I ordered a half and half pizza
-
one side was my usual beloved Thai Chicken Pizza
-
The other side was the Wild Mushroom pizza
-
and some peach ice tea to go with it
-
Vixdad had the chicken barbeque pizza
-
and he a;lso ordered a "small plate" the black bean quesadilla which we split -
-
Okay, now we got some postin' goin' on.
-
I had Chinese.
It was nothing to write home about.
Which is just as well, because I already was home.
-
it was okay but nothing to write home about it was served with a weird sauce not salsa but some sort of thick pink sauce with a strong taste of horse radish
-
apparently neither Chas nor I am much at writing home
-
we don't call...
-
we don;t write
-
Nah. Let 'em wonder.

Congtaulations to RLP on the new millstone!

If I can ease one Life the Aching
Or cool one Pain
Or help one fainting Robin
Unto his Nest again
I shall not live in Vain.

My Vixter is scheduled to fly home in the morning
-
we are having thick fog tonight that is supposed to last into mid morning and she is scheduled for a 6 AM flight so Fog Be Gone Vibes and TraveL Vibes are most welcome
-
she has only be gone for 2 weeks but it feels like an eternity - how do people send their children away to school?
-
when I was young I won a book in a contest at my library --
-
My mother, the purge queen, tossed it away while I was at school
-
Thanks for the comments on The Dearth of Pages.
:)
-
My mother, the purge queen, tossed it away while I was at school
Purge Queen had a different meeting at - well, never mind.
-
I cannot now remember the exact name perhaps one of our librarians can help
-
I think it was a Edward Gorey book... the title was something like"
Alphabet for Horrid Children and Poems for Even Worse children
-
I took a break and finished a motion picture. I also got a lovely call from Muse Margaret who loved all the new pages. She just had a couple of one-word little things and asked me to think about adding one little sentence to one paragraph, which I will when I think of the right thing. Also, just one little addition to something new I'd done that she hadn't read in the first batch - she liked it so much, she wanted a tiny bit more description. But her reaction was so positive and she's so specific about what she loves, it's very heartening. She feels I'm being "guided" on this book and maybe she's right. I've written five pages but I'm in a hugely critical moment and I've got to get it just right, then I can move on and I know what the next two chapters are. But this one little section really all boils down to phrasing one line in just the right way. I think a shower will be happening very soon.
-
My tummy still feels queasy - not sure why.
-
Definitely, shower time.

Mega vibes everyone.
Sweet dreams.

Back from what I hope is a successful audition for a regular weekly paid singing job.
Good luck, Singsong!!
More wish of luck.

Welcome back, Sam.
-
Not enjoying The Place Beyond the Pines. Watching it in bits and pieces. And it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long.
Should have taken your advice, BK. But I do like Ryan Gosling, although not necessarily in this one.
-
Six!
-
I am such a slow reader. Did catch up on 4 days.
Back tomorrow. Must sleep. Up at 4am.
Goodnight everyone. :)

Well, I'm done with my invoicing. Tomorrow, I'll have to compile the report to give to the business office, where I have to confirm that everything is correct. Fortunately, it's easy and only takes a few hours (and not the whole day, like it used to).
Anyway, I'm off. Be back later.
-
Time for a shower.
-
Good evening. Been busy, but not much to say
-
I did have a dream last night that really stuck with me. I moved back to my hometown and everyone was so happy to see me. The funny part was that I went to Rotary and they elected me vice-president only I wasn't a member of Rotary, lol. I've been thinking for a long time that I really don't have a "plan b" if sometime things don't work out at work. (No problems, just that feeling at times like I'm on a high wire with no net). Anyway, I woke up feeling like I've always had an option, I just didn't think about it. It was quite a reassuring dream.....
-
The rest of the day was just one damn frustrating situation after another. I should have stayed in bed
-
Speaking of which, I should go to bed. We're under a high wind warning starting early in the morning. Supposed to be around 47mph at 7 am and up to 60 mph at noon. Ricky gets scared by the wind so I'm sure he'll wake me early. Glad I don't have to go anywhere except the office and the courthouse tomorrow
-
Directv dropped the weather channel. They did it because the fees for the Weather Channel are so high and now their programming is 40% reality shows. Actually I have to agree with that. We do now have Weather Nation. It's not my usual weather guys, but it's all weather, like The Weather Channel used to be. I'll be curious to see if we ever get TWC back. I would have banked on it yesterday, but now I'm thinking they may just stick with this one
-
Finished with writing. I was really not happy with this one section I was having trouble getting right, so into the shower and the solution came to me in ten seconds and I completely rewrote it taking it in a whole other direction, which worked like gangbusters. Very happy. Of course, that put me back a page and a half, but I immediately wrote a page of that so I'm pretty much at seven pages for the day. I had some cheese and crackers so that I don't get too weak, but tummy is still not up to snuff.
-
AARRGGHH!! I got home tonight and saw that my cat had thrown up sometime today. Of course, it's not that unusual, but it's partially dried up and not as easy to clean as when it's fresh. :P
-
;)
