Well, you've read the notes, the notes began a very busy week, and now it is time for you to post until the very busy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CONFLATE!
-
Here's the new release information:
Kritzerland is proud to present a new limited edition release
DEMETRIUS AND THE GLADIATORS
Composed and Conducted by Franz Waxman
Demetrius and the Gladiators was a shrewd attempt to capitalize on the historic success of the first CinemaScope picture, The Robe. Even before The Robe opened, the canny Twentieth Century Fox production chief, Darryl F. Zanuck, had Demetrius and the Gladiators under way. Robe veterans, writer Philip Dunne, producer Frank Ross, art directors George W. Davis and Lyle Wheeler, and actors Victor Mature, Michael Rennie, and Jay Robinson were now freshly energized by newcomers; director Delmer Daves, cinematographer Milton Krasner, and composer Waxman replaced their counterparts still occupied on The Robe: Henry Koster, Leon Shamroy, and Newman.
The surprise is that, while The Robe eclipsed its successor in its day, decades later, it looks like Demetrius is, in fact, what screenwriter Philip Dunne called it: “a far better pure movie.” And one of the true pleasures of the film is Franz Waxman’s tantalizing score, which, while incorporating several of Alfred Newman’s incomparably majestic themes from The Robe, nevertheless manages to display a modernist élan and power all its own. Demetrius and the Gladiators was this fabulously versatile composer’s first Biblical epic; as usual, he adapted his talents to a new genre with superbly dramatic dexterity. Beginning with a pulse-pounding “Prelude” which twines Newman’s themes with his own, Waxman moves on to one stunning cue after another.
Demetrius and the Gladiators has undergone a long overdue full digital restoration using the best that state-of-the-art audio technology can offer. Restoration and remixing was undertaken at 96k 24bit resolution. Sadly, three cues from the score had completely deteriorated by the time the original reels were transferred in 1997: “Kneel to Your God” (6m3/7m1), “Temptation” (7m2), and “The Kiss” (8m1). Using the original 4-track stereo audio for the film itself, we have rescued brief segments of these, which were unmarred by dialogue and sound effects and included them in the program in order to present as much of the score as possible. An additional excerpt of “Temptation,” with sound effects but no dialogue, is included as a bonus track. Also in the bonus section is the deteriorated stereo version of the cue “Claudius and Caligula,” while the main program features a more sonically palatable monaural mix. Every effort has been made to bring out its original brilliance so that, as a listening experience, Demetrius may take its rightful place beside recent musical restorations of other Fox Biblical epics of the period.
Demetrius and the Gladiators is limited to 1000 copies only and is priced at $19.98, plus shipping.
CDs will ship by the first week of March, but we’ve been averaging three to five weeks early in terms of shipping ahead of the official ship date. To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.

Topic of the Day: I don't know if I would call this a "favorite," but my sister and I had this exact book and record of "Little Brave Sambo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YcttJ_QH00)." Watching the YouTube video just now (click on the link), I found that I remembered the melodies to a couple of the songs.

Yesterday, I ushered for a tour of "The Official Blues Brothers Revue." It's a tribute show that was co-produced by Dan Aykroyd, and the music director (but not touring with the show) was Paul Shaffer. It was actually very good. The guys playing the two main characters of Jake and Elwood Blues were very good. They not only sang and acted like Dan and John Belushi as the Blues Brothers, but their blues singing was very good, too.
-
The audience of just under 500 loved the show. The only problem that I had with the show is that it was so damned loud! I even got a pair of ear plugs because it was uncomfortable. :P Otherwise, I really enjoyed it. I ran into a couple of friends that I hadn't seen in quite a while, so that was fun, too.
-
Afterward, Margo and I went to McMenamins Spar Café (http://www.mcmenamins.com/633-mcmenamins-spar-cafe-home). I had their Red Rooster Sirloin Burger ("ground sirloin mixed with Sriracha, hoisin sauce, scallions & ginger with chili-roasted garlic mayo & your side of choice"...I had their Cajun Tots with peppercorn ranch). It was delish!
-
And now, I'm off to bed. In the morning (or early afternoon), I'll purchase Kritzerland's latest CD!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
It is certainly Monday. Certainly.
-
Good morning to all
-
Today is my early day at work
-
Today is also the first of my cabaret series. Brian D'arcy James i first up
-
Good morning.
TOD: Probably a Mitch Miller record. Not because it was my favorite -- but because I think it is the only children's record we had.
-
Good morning, all! I slept well, I think. At least nothing unseemly happened last night. Again, thank you, all, for the kind words about my late friend Dale's gift. I'm happy to be ahead of things, however briefly, but i do hope that some work starts coming in soon; I cannot count on other bequests. Luckily, the ROBERTA sessions will be the income to cover my accountant's bill and - hopefully - any outstanding 2013 tax obligations.
DR Matthew and DR singdaw, if either of you were still on the east coast, I would be begging you to take on this bass part. We're seeing someone tomorrow and I'm waiting to hear from an actor who was in BIG FISH.
DR cillaliz, your brother has "cases"; is he also an attorney? You've probably told us and i've forgotten. I can remember details about trips to Appalachia in 1954, but I have no memory of what I did yesterday.
-
TOD:
Between 1946 and 1949, while my parents and I lived with my maternal grandmother, I was coddled by my mother's brothers who were in high school, my unmarried Aunt Dorothy, and my grandmother. I have vague memories f being rocked, sung to, read to, and being passed around the high school football team like a football. When I was three or four, around 1950, we moved to the house my dad built at 3003 Goldman Avenue. By then, I was reading very well, thanks to all the readings I got from my family and thanks to 12 inch 78rpm shellac recordings. the family parlor game was to tell me a song title and watch me find in among the huge number of recordings owned by my mother's family. My favorite was Khatchaturan's "Sabre Dance," recorded by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops. I remember very few recordings of my childhood except for these two; I received my first portable record player with 3 speeds for Christmas, 1956, when I was ten. Before then, I had a ton of Little Golden Records, and I remember a few titles: "Suzy Snowflake," "Egbert the Easter Egg," The Little Swans from Swan Lake, and a few pop tunes. After 1956, my mother started bringing me LPs and 45's from supermarket bins. I also remember the original Broadway cast of South Pacific on several 45's, and these two LPs:
-
And this. I saw Whittemore and Lowe in concert around 1959, so I must have had this recording for a couple of years. It took me years to realize they were the first gay couple I ever met.
-
Good morning, all.
I think this cup of coffee came out a little weak.
More coffee!
-
It is certainly Monday. Certainly.
I'm not even going to ask DR Kerry to provide proof, for I feel it is all around us.
-
TOD:
Wish I could recall the childhood records. I know we had a bunch, and I remember having my own child's record player. My sister (two years younger) and I (and, later, neighbor kids) played a lot of records. Probably some Little Golden Records and later, certainly, some Disney. Though I don't remember the early records themselves, one song immediately pops into my head: Oats Peas Beans and Barley Grow -- which sounds like something that should explain my later fondness for THE WICKER MAN. Oy!
-
I must have hit the large cup size button on the Keurig before, because I paid attention this time, hit the Medium one, and the coffee is as it should be.
Now we'll get this morning off to a start.
-
Demetrius and the Gladiators ordered!
-
Thanks to BK for the help re those studio rooftops. Santa Monica at Las Palmas. Huge block of them. I had completely blanked on those.
-
We watched BLUE JASMINE last night.
No doubt it's an updating of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE...but very well done.
If Cate Blanchett does not win the Oscar, there is no justice.
-
Oats
Mares eat oats! :)
-
TOD:
During the early 1940s, I recall having a 78 rpm album of THE JUNGLE BOOK from the movie with Sabu.
The final line (or a paraphrase of it) was "But, that is another story" has always stuck with me.
There was also an album, LET'S PRETEND, but I don't remember much about that one.
-
Good morning, all.
Happy Monday vibes.
-
I surely wish I could help you out, DR elmore3003!
I would think if you can get anyone who's ever sung that opening bass solo in On the Town, you'd be all set.
-
(http://s.ecrater.com/stores/53443/50989992a6314_53443n.jpg)
This was one of the first albums I remember having. Nice and scary for a kid, especially the theme song:
With a clip, clip and a clippity clop
He's out look for a head to chop.
Don't stop to figure out a plan.
You can't reason with a headless man.
-
Oats
Mares eat oats! :)
That, indeed, was another one of our favorite songs. Thanks for reminder. Now why in the HELL didn't I think of it?
-

Of course, this was the biggie.
-
Two!
-
(http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41zyjDpF9oL._SL500_SX300_.jpg)
And this George M. Cohan album was actually the first I ever owned.
-
DR elmore3003 - I may have a lead on a bass for you. Check your E-mail.
-
Title announced and I'm going back to bed until it warms up a little.
-
(http://thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/m90abZ2PV8QMxtwrEqQ0DAg.jpg)
Of course, this was the biggie.
'Twas, indeed. :) And the original cast recording of Oliver. And the soundtracks to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Doctor Doolittle.
-
Thanks for reminder.
You're quite welcome! :)
-
Yikes, something brought me to the discussion again before i read the notes. I'll remedy that now.
-
Re the TOD: There was a silly song called "Dilly Dally" - the lyric went something like
"When it's worth doing do it well, not like a turtle in its shell, keep your eyes wide open and run pell-mell (sp?)
Singing dilly dally, don't dilly-dally, dilly-dilly-dally-dee"
I liked the philosophy somehow.
-
Monday!
Thanks to everyone for the wonderful vibes. We had a good show yesterday and a fine audience. Today is the first day of classes after Winter Term, so I imagine we will have a lot of students in the audience tonight.....even though it will be -20 degrees or so in the "feels like" department.
-
Continued writing vibes for MR BK.
-
Great news, Jrand!
-
I think I had that record, too, DR FJL.
I don't remember having a LOT of children's records....I jumped right into buying 45's and ninety nine cent LP's from the grocery store.
HOWEVER the one children's record I remember clearly and think was TOPS was one I bought for my sister Molly when she was about three - it was Marlo Thomas' FREE TO BE YOU AND ME....
-
CD ORDERED!
-
I guess we either get frigid temperatures or snow. :(
-
The photos of Taylor Swift losing the album Grammy seem to be trending.
-
The controversy over Taylor Swift's look of surprise when she didn't win the Grammy is looking more like she heard the "R" sound of the winner and thought they were saying "Red" the name of her album, actually was surprised for a second before the full name of the winner was named.
-
I had a phonograph when I was little and I know I had records. The only one I remember with any clarity is the one that I was playing when I developed my first "sick" (i.e. migraine) headache: "Teddy Bears Picnic".
Ugh!
-
(http://thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/m90abZ2PV8QMxtwrEqQ0DAg.jpg)
Of course, this was the biggie.
What is MOST interesting about this photo is that the album bears the RCA Records logo. Of course, Disney issued the OST on Buena Vista.
The LP was the record of the month, however, for the RCA Record Club and my mono OST in this foldout jacket came to me from RCA with the RCA logo on the LP. Oddly, all listings of OST issues of this title that I have seen never recognizes the issue on RCA.
-

My copy was on Buena Vista. I guess I just selected this photo online without checking out the label.
-
One of the records I remember having was the theme song from "Davy Crockett". That one disappeared eons ago, more's the pity.
-
I also had a "Sleeping Beauty" recording (on LP) that featured color frames from the movie on the cover and had a cover vocalist (Darlene Gillespie?) singing Aurora's songs.
-
And here is the only verification in family photos with me and two of the high school football team: my Uncle Bob on the left with the neighbor boy, Jack Reck, and me.
-
Growing up, my best friend had this mirrored thingamabob that fit over the central spindle post on his phonograph. That, combined with the images printed on the accompanying LP labels, created this animation that you could view in the mirror while listening to the LP. I have no recollection what the label or manufacturer was called.
-
Schools cancelled again here today due to the cold. Up to -50 windchill until sometime tomorrow.
-
Hell, we're having ourselves a little one-day thaw here. It's almost 40 degrees, and I just grabbed the short window of opportunity by the horns and shovel-scraped the inch-and-a-half of
sh stuff remaining from Saturday's little snow event. Front sidewalk and enough of the driveway are more or less clean and ready for the next assault.

I LOVE this LP. I still use it in class and most of my classes know the title song by heart. They don't make them like they used to.

Oh, and good morning

Although, this was one of the first albums I remember owning.

THIS is the LP to which I was referring. IIRC, I paid $1 for it in a 5- and 10-cent store. For whatever reason, it has long been "very" collectible:

CD has been ordered!

Up again - fell back asleep around eight-thirty and needed to.

My first actual kiddie record was something like Sparky and the Piano or Sparky and the Train - there were several in the series and we had them - probably as 78s.

Nice photo DR ELMORE.

A birdy for Monday: A rose-throated becard.

Afternoon, all!
TOD:
Egads, did I listen to a lot of stuff as a young 'un. For reasons never entirely clear to me, my parents had me listening to a lot of Allan Sherman and selections of Tom Lehrer and Flanders & Swann (and you wonder how I turned out the way I did). As far as actual children's music Free to Be You and Me was on constant rotation, as was a collection from Schoolhouse Rock, and a bunch of Golden Records stuff. My favorite of the latter, as I recall, was There's No Such Thing as a Dragon, featuring a song called "Everybody Likes to Be Noticed."
-
DR CILLA LIZ got some nice furniture.....I scored five nice chairs last fall when the insurance company in the strip mall was moving....they left them out by the dumpster, so I grabbed them for the store....nice.
It has been my experience - if you live in a college town - that driving on the campus around graduation and the end of year, you can find lots of nice chairs and desks out on the street.....

I ain't on your lawn, dingdong!

When I was small (ages 4-6), my grandfather lived with us and we had his furniture in our house. I loved his floor model record player and his 78 rpm records. I used to play Les Paul and Mary Ford recordings and dance around the living room. And "The Bunny Hop" was my biggest hoot. EVERYone who came over had to dance "The Bunny Hop" with me.
-
DR Cilla, congrats on the office furniture and changes.

DR Ron you could wear Scout's costume...
"Scout is assigned to play the part of the pork. She will wear a large costume made of chicken wire and wrapped around with brown cloth, which comes to just above her knees. She can't put it on or take it off without someone else's help because it pins her arms down, and she can't see well through the eyeholes."

Monday afternoon greetings from Atlanta's northern 'burbs! After a smooth flight, car rental, and drive to Dunwoody, we're 50o warmer. It was 4 when we left Dayton and it's 54 here in GA. Supposed to get colder tomorrow, but it's nice for now.
We're ready for dinner!
-
Ginny, as I was driving to work today, I saw a (Washington state) personalized license plate: "GINNY I". I instantly thought of you! :)
-
DR Ginny enjoy the warm temps. Ours have been dropping and I should have worn more clothes to the gym. My legs were cold wearing only shorts.
-
I never dreamed I was scraping that stuff off my driveway JUST IN TIME -- but apparently I was, because I was just out there and we're back in the North Pole again.
-
I didn't realize there had been so many Marlboro men. I still remember the anti-smoking ads by Eric Lawson who just passed away.

So many of these men died that the cigarettes were nicknamed "cowboy killers".
-
DR John G. - that is really a bummer. I am $o $orry!
-
The two children's albums I remember the most and wish I still had are "Peter and the Wolf" and "Hopalong Cassidy"
The Hoppy one had pages to turn with photos while I listened to the story, which I did over and over and............
I remember listening to Peter many a time with my father and talking about the music and the story.

That is a great photo/meme, DR George! :)

DR John G. - that is really a bummer. I am $o $orry!
Sorry I missed that-ouch!

I got through receipts and checks for 2013 Income; estimated tax payments; Ohio taxes; insurance payments for health, apartment, and life; prescriptions; piano tuner; memberships; subscriptions; office products. The worst tallies will happen during thereat of the week: books, CDs, DVDs, and taxi receipts, which are endless.
Time for dinner!
-
Dinner: That has a melliflous sound about it.
-
I have some beef vegetable soup in the refrigerator. Will that be my supper?
-
I'm more in the mood for Belgian waffles and bacon.
-
I also have a chicken piccata dinner in the freezer. Would that do, I wonder?

Only 36 minutes more till quittin' time.

Is there something positive I can do before I leave work today?
-
Maybe I can get us to page 5.

I'll certainly try.

Ta-da!

Well, now, there's a thing.

there's a thing.
There's actually two. :)

We went down the street to The Mad Italian for dinner - nice salad and delicious lasagna, accompanied by a bottle of Pinot Grigio. We are in for the evening.
-
TOD - I had an album by Alvin and the Chipmunks. All I can remember about it is that the LP was translucent red.
-
Greetings, all, and apologies for having been gone missing for so long.
Getting this show open was a beast and a half. Then to have the writer coming as well, whose past history was difficult at best, well, you can imagine. Between rehearsals and blizzards here in Maine, previews, opening, party, and weekend shows, my brain is only now coming back online. Singing everything from "Can't Get Started" to Porgy and Bess" can wear a boy out. :D
And yes, Opening went extremely well and audiences love the show. We have an ace jazz quartet onstage with us, and who doesn't love the music that Ira Gershwin wrote lyrics for?
I hope everyone has been doing well. I have 3 more weeks in the frigid northeast and then I am outta there.
TOD: My favorite record as a kid was Peter and the Wolf. I'm trying to remember the narrator. I want to say Burl Ives, but I'm not sure that's right. Oh, I think it was Sterling Holloway.
Btw, here's a little visual of the opening night gift I had made for the cast. Little magnets, via Cafe Press.
-
It is good to see you DR ryacko and to read your opening went well. The magnets you gifted are very nice.
Now you have me wondering who narrated my "Peter and the Wolf". I can almost hear the voice. I know it wasn't Burl Ives. I will ask my older brother if he knows.
-
When California Music Theatre opened STRIKE UP THE BAND in 1988(89?), Leonore Gershwin gave me a framed sketch by George as an opening night gift. It may be my prized possession.
-
I found a listing of all the recordings, including the narrator's, of "Peter and the Wolf".
My brother remembers the album but not who narrated it. Looking at the years this was released it would have likely have been Sterling Holloway which was released in 1946.
I'm going to try and find a recording on the internet to listen to a few minutes of it.

I have no idea which "Peter and the Wolf" was the first I ever heard, but my first owned LP of it, ordered from the RCA Record Club, was the London Symphony conducted by Sir Malcolm Sargent, Lorne Greene narrating.
Don't know if I still have it, but it looked like this: http://goo.gl/SvSD5W

When California Music Theatre opened STRIKE UP THE BAND in 1988(89?), Leonore Gershwin gave me a framed sketch by George as an opening night gift. It may be my prized possession.
That's incredible, and wonderful!
-
Seriously. THAT is a gift! :)

I watched part of "My Fair Lady" on TCM yesterday and the first thing that I thought of when I read this was Alfred P. Doolittle recorded "Peter and the Wolf"?
And then I listened to the clip. ;)

Yes, DR Jane, that's the one I grew up listening to. I loved it.

:) DR ryacko.

And we have a bass! Adam Alexander, whom I saw in several opera productions at Manhattan School of Music, will be one of the two basses in the Collegians. We're seeing another person tomorrow for the other spot. We now have six of the seven boys. I'm still waiting on a confirmation from one of the tenors, who's in LITTLE ME, and Jeanne Lehman, who will hopefully play the rich snobby mother of the bitch fiancee.
Big sigh of relief!
-
Congrats and vibes you receive the confirmation from the tenor.

I think we're fine. I just hope this Bass we're seeing tomorrow is up to snuff. I think he will be; we saw him last year while we were looking for a leading man. He was good, but not right for the lead.
-
Seriously. THAT is a gift! :)
It is indeed.
-
Good news, DR elmore3003!
ps - Adam is a cutie.
-
Excited - just got a ticket to a concert of West Side Story. They'll show the film, which will be accompanied LIVE by the Minnesota Orchestra. I guess the conductor will use some kind of click track system to stay in synch with the film.

It's good to know that my visual aids to my adventures are appreciated! He was so good as Puck in Britten's MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM at Manhattan School of Music, but he doesn't sing; he speaks! I also saw him as Papageno in MAGIC FLUTE; my goddaughter Charlotte was one of the three genii on a scooter in that production.

This is getting a lot of showings; the whole thing sounds pretty weird to me!

Hi, Laura!

So, SlopJar, what did you think of Thoroughly Modern Millie? Did you ever post your review?
I'm watching the stage version and enjoying it more than I thought. It's not as campy as the movie, but there are some fun performances and the dancing is great.

When I first heard about it a few years ago I found it interesting, just as a means of hearing what that orchestration would sound like played live. Then the more I learned about it, the more bizarre the whole thing seemed, and I stopped caring. But I'd still love the chance to see/hear a couple of moments of it just...to know.
And I would kill to see that film score. As I recall, all scores and parts were declared lost until someone unearthed the condensed score in Johnny Green's collection, and they more or less reconstructed it from that.

DR cillaliz, your brother has "cases"; is he also an attorney? You've probably told us and i've forgotten. I can remember details about trips to Appalachia in 1954, but I have no memory of what I did yesterday.
He is an attorney and a magistrate judge

Of course, this was the biggie.
Count me in on this one

DR CILLA LIZ got some nice furniture.....I scored five nice chairs last fall when the insurance company in the strip mall was moving....they left them out by the dumpster, so I grabbed them for the store....nice.
It has been my experience - if you live in a college town - that driving on the campus around graduation and the end of year, you can find lots of nice chairs and desks out on the street.....
I also got 635 reporters and some bound law reviews. I moved 325 of the books today and will move the others tomorrow. Now my library really looks like a law library. My brother took three really nice chairs I had but didn't go that well with the decor of my office - it's a different color scheme from the last office I had. I am very happy about that
-
DR Cilla, congrats on the office furniture and changes.
Thanks Jane

I've seen this before, it's pretty cool!

So, SlopJar, what did you think of Thoroughly Modern Millie? Did you ever post your review?
I found it a little bit bizarre, but madcap and fun - loved Julie's asides to the camera. I did not figure out the plot twist revealed at the end, but it did make MTM's performance make more sense in retrospect. And of course the music and singing were lovely.
-
Afterward, Margo and I went to McMenamins Spar Café (http://www.mcmenamins.com/633-mcmenamins-spar-cafe-home). I had their Red Rooster Sirloin Burger ("ground sirloin mixed with Sriracha, hoisin sauce, scallions & ginger with chili-roasted garlic mayo & your side of choice"...I had their Cajun Tots with peppercorn ranch). It was delish!
I love their menu!

Your clip, Cillaliz, led to this discovery from the 1987 Tonys, back when they knew how to entertain an audience of people who really loved the theater. And Angela seems to be vying with Bernadette on who can show the most decolletage:

Good night, all.

Oy and vey. Futzed and finessed but only got one page done. Then I had a meatless Cobb Salad, a bagel and some tap tap tapioca pudding, which I have to say I'm obsessed with.

My mom bought it, I used to do the routine with the record...."Give that chicken fat back to the chicken and don't be chicken again"

Then I picked up one package, then came home. I had to answer a ton of e-mails and print out orders. I wrote three more pages and then had to get ready for rehearsals.

I never saw Mack and Mabel but really liked the OCR

The first Kritzerland rehearsal was a little rough for my tastes, mostly due to the musical direction, not the actors. A lot of what we did at our work session wasn't in evidence, so I spent a lot of unnecessary time dealing with that - but I'd made sure everything had been written down and I kept being told that somehow it hadn't - then I'd walk over and look at the music and find the notation, which was ALWAYS there. Drives me a little batty, but that's not a long drive, and the musicianship, in the end, is wonderful and that's all that counts. But it put us behind the entire day.

Time for me to go to bed. Lots to do tomorrow and I need to get some sleep Night all

Advice for our DR MBarnum!
Evidently this is true, as my pipes are still clogged up.
-
I didn't even get to sit back down until after seven-thirty, but I couldn't write because my head wasn't in that place. I relaxed and answered e-mails and printed orders, then around eight I started writing again and did two more pages, so about six so far and I'll go for at least two more before the end of the evening.
-
Wait a minute..how did you know I had requested a plumber today ( for my clogged up bathtub!).

DR JRand, keep a look out for the mail...I sent you a box of goodies...one item is something I'd meant to send you for your birthday (or was it Christmas?).

Let's see if I can find those Sparky records I had as a kid, since no one here seems to know what I'm talking about, unless I missed a post, which is entirely possible. :)

Alejandro the plumber is, in actuality, actor/singer Victor Turpin...in case you were wondering.

Are you going to snap photos of them, BK? They would be fun to see.

Vixmom! How is your vacation?

And here are both of the ones I had - the talking train one scared the bejeezus out of me as a three or four year old.

Bozo approved, baby.

And here are both of the ones I had - the talking train one scared the bejeezus out of me as a three or four year old.
I thought I'd seen every children's record between 1950 and 1960, and I've never seen those! I love the covers, and i would have wanted them around 1950, which was the height of my "I want to be a train engineer when I grow up." Trains were my obsession.
And I am awake; the mouse traps went off and woke me.
Yes, Virginia, I killed my sixth mouse tonight. So, I had to clean up the area, dispose of the body, and reset the traps. I don't believe they're in the apartment but in the walls of the building, and about every two-three weeks one of them makes a visit on a foraging spree. I caught the last one a week ago, s the cold may be sending them into apartments where they can find a hole to get through. Unfortunately, I can't move the fridge t get back there and see where they're entering.
